Chapter Four
I was travelling at a fast pace, that much I knew.
A cool air was brushing past my head as my hair whipped backwards, the slight buzzing of a radio reached my ears. My head was heavy; it felt as if I had a cloud residing there enclosing my brain.
There was slight brush of fingers against my left shoulder, the warmth contrasting with the cold. Moaning, I tilted my head away from the feeling, the shocking moment when my head rolled of something and smacked into something hot and solid. Ouch.
“Shi-princess, watch it alright?” Grimmy’s voice spoke out, letting out a small moan of his own. The bright light invaded my eyes as I brought my hands up over my eyes to block it out. Peaking out through my fingers I almost punched the idiot.
“Where the hell are we going?” I screeched out, as my eyes were solely focused on the road we were travelling on, a road so familiar I’m pretty sure I could find even in my deepest sleep.
“To my job.” He turned his head to me, the smirk taking up half of his beautiful face. “Thank you.” My eyes widened.
“W-what?” I stuttered out. I didn’t say that out load did I?
“Your thoughts are easy to access.” My mouth almost dropped at his words. He can read thoughts? He’s a flipping vampire.
“Oh my-” His hand slapped on my mouth, his features hardening in anger. Well he’s going to suck me dry isn’t he? I’m here because I’m vampire food. My eyes widened as I realised this must be his job, to lure humans into the vampire world.
“I’m not a vampire!” He spat out, his eyes becoming a solid black wall. If looks could kill, I’d be one million feet under. “I’ll put you there soon if you don’t get out the freaking car.”
I snapped out of it, taking in the empty driver seat and the parked car. I locked the door in one quick motion. My heart pounding as I looked out at the house we were parked in front of, my hands trembling. He was having a laugh.
“Open the door, Lily.” He growled his hands yanking at the door. “I won’t tell you other wise.” He smirked.
I clicked the lock.
He swung the door open in one swift movement, gesturing for me to get out. Taking a deep breath, I put my left foot onto the driveway, clinging to the doorframe as I stood up. His eye’s trailed me as I moved forward, the quick slam of a door echoed around the quiet street.
“Let’s go.” He chirped, wrapping his arm around my waist pulling me towards the dreaded house.
My ex’s house.
“I hate you,” I spat out, “What are we doing here?” I shoved his arm off, turning to glare at him, my hair whipping in a circle almost catching him in the face. How does he even know this?
“It’s my job.”
“Your job is to take me to my ex’s house?” I cried. “What is your problem?” I freaked out, my voice rising to a pitch I’m sure dogs could only hear.
“My problem is you,” He gripped my arm, dragging me towards the wooden panelled house as he continued explaining, “You don’t have fun.” And with that he covered my eyes and stepped forward.
The warmth engulfed me.
My heart was pounding in my chest as my body adjusted to the quick change. My back burning as Grimmy stood directly behind me, his breath hitting the back of my hair. He put a finger over my mouth to tell me to be quiet. Looking up I watched as he walked around me, leaving me shivering as he took his body heat away.
My pounding heart stuttered as I stared at the room he has somehow transported us into. My eyes were drawn to the slight movement of the duvet as the body underneath breathed evenly, unsuspecting as two people, one of whom was his ex, stood staring at him. His lamp was still switched on, obviously falling asleep unexpectedly.
He hasn’t changed.
“What are you doing?” I whispered as Grimmy towered over his body, a pillow gripped in his right hand. Where he’d get the pillow? Why was the pillow so fluffy?
“He has spares in his wardrobe.” He turned and smirked. “And maybe because he’s fluffy.” He chuckled.
Fluffy my butt, he sure didn’t act fluffy when we were together, in the day, even at night when we were-
“Not an image I needed, princess” Get out of my mind, idiot. He snorted.
So did Lawrence.
“Oh my God,” I freaked, running over to Grimmy, my eyes still straying towards Lawrence’s moving body. “He’s waking up.” I hissed out, slapping Mr. Idiots arm.
“Calm down he isn-” He was cut off as Lawrence screamed, his deep voice ringing around the room as his body lashed out of bed.
“Who the hell are you?” He blared at Grimmy, his hand pointing at the leather clad body of my idiot.
Hot.
My?
Shaking my head I watched as Lawrence’s eyes darted around the room before hardening on me. Oops. “Lily?” He asked. I stepped forward towards him but was cut off as idiot lunged at him with the pillow.
Grimmy knocked him on the floor squashing the pillow right over his blonde covered head. His screeching was drowned out through the material as idiot straddled him and smothered the white pillow harder.
“Grimmy!” I yelled, dashing over and diving on top of him knocking him off Lawrence, his low moan vibrating through my body. Looking back at Lawrence’s body lying limp on the floor, the slight raising of his chest indicating he was still alive, I sighed with relief. Turning back I hung over the top of Grimmy, each leg on either side of his body. “Stop.” I slapped his face, his head reverting into the wooden floorboards.
As his face came back up, his eyes were blazing.
Mother of God.
“Don’t you want this?” He sneered, his voice capturing every piece of darkness in the room. “He hurt you, constantly. Every bruise, every scar, even the new one on your leg.” He stated, his eyebrow rose. Challenging.
My heart stuttered as I looked over at his still body to the pillow that had been flung over to the other side of the room, then right back at Lawrence. He hurt me, everyday.
He treated me like a girlfriend. He took me out and showered me with pretty flowers and chocolates. He would take my hand and lead me to the cinema every Friday night.
But everything good comes to an end.
It all changed after he saw me talking to one boy. He would smack me and kick me when we got back after days out, screaming at me for not being faithful. And when I finally broke it off, I ended up in hospital.
Well I though I did.
Turns out Grimmy took me back to his place.
I still remember him shoving me into the alleyway, his bare hands wrapping around my neck. The knife drawing out of his pocket glinted with satisfaction. I remember kicking him where the sun doesn’t shine only to have him pull me down with him.
That’s when he got me.
The knife scratched into almost every part of my body, leaving little puddles of blood on my skin, before he finally took it to my leg, slicing deeply.
“I hate him.” I whispered, my body having no control as I climbed off of Grimmy, slowly moving towards the pillow. It was like I was possessed, the thrill bubbling up inside of me. It was almost as if I needed to do this. There was an ache in my chest that only something like this could fulfil.
My feet padded against the floor, stopping at the pillow. Bending down I whipped it up, a small glow of satisfaction as I held it.
Do it.
Grimmy had stood up now, his eyes following my movement back to Lawrence his eyes practically shining with happiness and had another hidden depth.
Was he proud?
Dropping the pillow onto his face I leant over him, straddling him securely. This time there wasn't love, it was all hate.
“Go ahead.” Grimmy smiled, his teeth glinting. He nodded towards Lawrence before bending over and griping my hands, guiding them over to the pillow putting pressure down on it.
I didn’t stop it. I didn’t stop when he took his hands away after leaving me with a quick touch of his lips to me cheek. I didn’t stop even when Lawrence’s body finally began thrashing out.
I just pressed harder.
His muffled screams filling my ears brought the smile on my face to rise higher. It felt so good. His body was lashing and shaking as he tried breathing, his body fighting against the darkness. His final scream echoing.
His body lay limp, he arms still wrapped around the pillow trying to pull it off. Standing up slowly, I turned to Grimmy with a grin on my face. He replied with a quick smirk before wrapping his arm around me.
“Good job.” He whispered before guiding me out of the room, his arm still tightly securing my body. As I took a quick glance back at the body of a man I once loved, seeing his chest laying still, dead, I couldn’t help feel that bubbling arise back in my chest.
And was only when we exited the house I realised what that feeling was.
It was exhilaration.
And I loved it.
