Chapter 4
Thank you sillyface1333 so much for the cover! I really really love it *3*
"Alright!" Max said excitedly, they were only at Taco Bell, but she was still super excited. I mean, it was food she didn't have to pay for! Who wouldn't be? (Reminder; Alyc went home, Mac, Ren, Henry, AJ, Rich, and Max all went to Taco Bell after their school won the football game. Henry's mom drove them.)
"What got you all excited?" Ren asked, joining Max at the table. Everyone else was ordering still.
"Food." Max grinned. Ren nodded.
"Logical." She agreed. Mac joined the two. He didn't say anything, just looked at the table awkwardly. Ren and Max exchanged glances, then smiled at him. He smiled sheepishly back. "How's it goin, Mac?" Ren asked trying to be cute, she wasn't bad at it.
"Oh, I'm okay." Mac smiled awkwardly. He sat up straight. "And you?" Henry's mom walked over. She took the seat on the other side of Ren, she was now between Mac and Henry's mom. She smiled at the group. They smiled awkwardly back.
"I'm good." Ren finished the conversation. Mac nodded with a small smile. AJ joined the bunch. The radio was faintly playing Unsteady by X Ambassadors (Literally obsessed with this song right now.) Max hummed to it while swaying slightly. Ren smirked at her slyly. Max stopped, staring at her seriously. They both burst into laughter, confusing the others.
"Hiya." Rich said, announcing his presence. He sat at the end of the table.
Now the line up was. Rich at the end with AJ and Henry's mom. On either side of him. There was an open space between Max and AJ. Mac, Ren and Henry's mom sat on the other side. And then Henry had joined the group. Each of their names were called after each other. They were eating pretty quietly.
Then House of Gold by Twenty Øne Piløts. "She asked me, 'son when I grow old, would you buy me a house of souls? And when your father turns to gold, would you remember me?" Ren mumble-sang.
"You're singing it wrong!" Max whined.
"Nuh uh!" Ren whined back.
"Yeah, you are." Rich replied, he knew his music. Especially this song because he spam played it a lot. Henry grinned at everything.
"She asked me; "son when I grow old, will you buy me a House of Gold? And when your father turns to stone; will you, take care, of me?" Max grinned slyly at the pouting Ren.
One of the workers turned up the radio, watching the group's interest in the song. Max stood dramatically.
"She asked me; "son when I grow old, will you buy me a House of Gold? And when your father turns to stone, will you, take care, of me?" Rich bounced up joining Max in song. The few people in the food joint watched curiously. Rich was grinning widely, Max had one too. They were singing to the song and dancing around the table. Their friends watching and laughing.
"I'll put you on the map, I'll cure you of disease." Rich finished. There were some applause, which made the two dancing participants blush awkwardly. Rich took a bow, Max just sat down starring at the table awkwardly. The radio turned down again as Justin Bieber came on.
"Beautiful." Henry grinned at the duo. Max smiled awkwardly again.
"Always." Rich bowed in his seat. He had the biggest grin on his face. AJ laughed.
"So confident." AJ smirked at the excited Rich. Rich grin widened again. Which was surprising.
"Eat." Henry's mom chuckled. Rich went right onto eating. They were quickly done with their food.
"So we all heading home?" Ren asked tilting her head.
"Yeah, it's kind of late-ish." Mac commented giving a small smile. Henry's mom nodded. The trash was thrown out and the group went to the large van.
Max got the passenger seat this time, Mac sat behind Max, Ren behind Henry's mom, Rich, AJ, and Henry were in the very back and talking to each other. Ren was texting. Mac was glancing off into space.
"Anyone live by the school?" Henry's mom called, glancing at the three she had just met.
"Yeah I live in the apartments across the street." Max said loudly enough for everyone to hear. "You can just drop me off here." She pointed at the entrance. His mom frowned.
"Okay." She agreed pulling to the side. Max opened the door dropping to the sidewalk. She grabbed her bag from Ren.
"Later." Max waved. There was a unified 'bye' in different versions.
"So she's actually walking home in the dark?" Ren asked, watching Max walk away.
"Guess so." Henry agreed, frowning.
"Found it!" Max mumbled to herself. She pulled out her flash light and flickered it on. She really hated walking alone in the dark. She clung to the flashlight and her bag. She was humming to herself. The apartment was that far, which was good.
"Hiya, Max." Matt called, he was in his civilian car.
"Hey." Max waved, she was looking forward towards her apartments.
"Want a ride home?" He wasn't driving very fast, just by her.
"No thanks, Matt." Max said, glancing at him.
"Alrighty then." Matt agreed, driving off slightly faster. Max chuckled quietly and walked into her family apartment.
"I'm home." She called, turning off the flash light. The house was pretty dark. She flicked back on the flashlight suspiciously. She heard soft grunts from the parents room. She shivered and walked back to the living room. She turned on the light and turned off the flashlight. She turned on the TV and glanced at her homework. "To do, or not to do?" She sighed and went to work.
Meanwhile
"Man! Cool house, Mac!" Henry gasped in awe as they pulled into Mac's driveway. Ren had already been dropped off at a house a bit of the way down the street. Turns out Mac, Rich, and Ren all live in the same area.
"Yeah it's okay." Mac agreed, shuffling out of the car. AJ slipped into the passenger's seat. Rich sat by the door after Mac left.
"I'm totally serious though." Henry chuckled. "Well, night." He waved and ran back to the car. Mac waved to his leaving friends and went inside.
They drove Rich up to his house. "Thanks! Night." He waved, jumping out and walking off. Scarlet opened the door before Rich even got half way up the driveway. Scar ran over, tackle hugging him.
"Hey sis." Rich laughed, only needing to move a foot back so he wouldn't fall. She grinned up at him.
"Mommy and me made cupcakes!" She dragged him into the house. AJ watched while chuckling.
"Away we go." Henry's mom smiled. She drove down the large hill, passed the high school, and down the main road to a house just off the main street. This was AJ's.
"Thanks for the ride!" AJ said, dropping out of the car. Jazmin was laying in the grass. She glanced over, sat up, and waved. Henry climbed from the car and waved back. He then climbed into the passenger's seat.
"No problem, AJ." Henry's mom waved. He grabbed his bag from Henry and waved back. Then hurried over to Jazmin.
"To home we go!" Henry pumped his fist in the air and punched the roof. "Ow." He mumbled, rubbing his hand. His mom chuckled softly and drove home.
