Chapter 19 - A sign

"Ah shit," I said to no one in particular in the shower. I watched as there were traces of blood in the water that trickled off my naked body. When I returned from the shower, I made sure to pull out a sanitary napkin as I got dressed. I wore my comfiest pyjamas and oversized tee and fell back into bed. I could tell my insides thanked me for this.
I reached for my phone under my pillow and dialled Yaomomo. "Hello?" my voice came more muffled as I wrapped the blankets around me. "Good morning Rylie-chan, you phoned?" She said.
"Yea, so I am on my period today so I will be absent from class," I informed.
"Oh-oh, okay," I could tell by the noises from her and that she was getting changed or something. "Is it bad?" She asked.
"Okayish," I admitted.
"Can I bring medicine or paracetamol to your room?" She asked. "Yea maybe sure, later. I just want to lie in bed for now."
"Okay, take care. Mind if I can drop by later to check on you?"
I smiled. "Yea sure, I think it'll be better by then."
"Okay, see you!" The phone clicked and I shoved it back under my pillow. I heard another door in the hallway close. I could tell Mina was on the way to class and she greeted Ochaco. I couldn't make out what they were saying. Soon, their voices died out with the sound of the elevator.
There was a moment of silence where I could hear the birds chirping outside and the breeze whistling through the crack in my window. I had never imagined how still the morning would be on days I wasn't getting ready for class.
I was going to get very bored with my new found hobby of staring at the ceiling. That reminded me of how I hated being on my periods. I grabbed my phone again from under the pillow.
RyMo: You there?
AyuMi: Woah, unexpected. What's up?
RyMo: Bunking, periods.
AyuMi: Awh sucks. But lucky you.
RyMo: Yeah, kind of. Listen, life update.
AyuMi: Right now? You okay?
RyMo: Yeah... just boy problems.
There was no response for a minute or two. I hope her phone didn't get confiscated or something. Then my phone buzzed repeatedly.
AyuMi: OMGGG! Who is the lucky guy? Are you dating? Is he cute? Send photos!
RyMo: Oh god. Stop. NO. No one knows yet.
AyuMi: Let's speak after class!!! You're room?
RyMo: Yea sure,
AyuMi: Hint? Name?
RyMo: Kacchan... Bakugo?
AyuMi: Hmf, doesn't ring a bell. Oh, class starts. Gtg!
RyMo: See you...
Well, that conversation was fun while it lasted. I went back to my new found hobby. Bunking was getting boring really fast. My eyelids began to grow heavy when suddenly my phone rang.
"H- hello?" I tried not to sound sleepy.
"Aizawa here. Yaoyorozu told me you are not well?" the voice on the other side of the phone said.
"Y-yes," I sat up on my bed. My insides were kinda numb anyway.
"I'll send someone to get you to class. Don't attend any training exercises but come to class." He was stern. I hated it. I needed a break and I was just trying to enjoy the day off anyway. And oh god, changing into that uniform.
"I can't. I can't wear my uniform today."
"It's okay. Come as you are. Villains don't take monthly breaks, you know" The phone hung up. I know? Do you know I have a biological condition?! I hated Aizawa right now. I dragged myself out of bed anyway and checked the time. I was probably going to miss the first class anyway.
I combed my hair and tied it in a bun. After a few minutes, there was a knock on my door. A female nurse with a wheelchair peered into the room. "Rylie from class 1-A?" She asked.
"Yes," I stuffed my Ipad and pen into the bag and lifted it over my shoulder. "A wheelchair?" I gaped at them.
"Yes, we were ordered to bring you to class comfortably," she said. The image of me entering class on a wheelchair on account of periods came across my mind. Sooo embarrassing!
But my insides thought otherwise. I was definitely having an internal monologue with my aching body parts. The other part of me wanted to be treated like a queen. My insides had won. I locked my door and obediently sat into the wheelchair. "Here, I brought you some pills." She handed me a leaf of medicines as she raced me to the elevator. I popped one in my mouth and waited.
On the first floor, there was an electric car waiting for me. Man, going to class in style couldn't be more fun! My insides definitely enjoyed playing the damsel in distress. I sat in the seat at the back and she folded the wheelchair into the boot. She started the car from the front seat and I was driven to the main building. "Hey," Shinso waved to me when the car overtook him on the way to class. I flashed a half-smile but dug my face into my palms.
Once we arrived, she unfolded the wheelchair and laid it out near me. Daintily, like a princess, I got off the carriage taking the nurse's hand and settled myself in the wheelchair. Heck yeah! My insides were screaming with joy. She drove to the elevator to the second floor.
As soon as I arrived in the hall, subconsciously I rose from the chair. "Are you okay?" She asked.
"Yes thanks, I think I can walk from here." My cheeks grew hot. Attending class in my PJs was enough, thank you very much. She smiled and left me. I limped a little toward the door of 1-A. I could hear the voice of Aizawa dictating instructions from within. I breathed in and slid the door open.
As I imagined, no one was expecting me here. I felt a sea of faces glare at me as I was completely out of place. My insides enjoyed a little attention I was getting. Aizawa gestured Aoyama to get up from his seat and sit at the back of the class in my seat.
Accidentally, my eyes landed on Bakugo, who rested his chin on the back of his wrist. My cheeks become hotter than the heat in my abdomen. I tore away from the brief eye contact and took Aoyama's empty seat. Mina patted my shoulders and grinned at me.
The class continued as normal. I was absorbed taking notes on my Ipad as the classes went on. I did begin to slowly feel invisible. It felt great until it was lunchtime.
"Hey, heard you are not well?" I turned to Kaminari and Bakugo came into view. "Yea, nothing major. Happens you know." I waved him off. "Stomach problems,"
"It's something guys won't get. Periods can be a real pain in the ass" Mina explained. "What is that?" He looked confused. "It's this thing which happens like once a month and you just bleed into your skirts. It can get painful." She enacted some over-exaggerated monstrosity with her hands.
'Ew," Kaminari flinched and I gagged. "Mina, stop" I covered my mouth. "Oh sorry," She grinned cheekily. Yaomomo approached me, "Rylie, how are you now?" There was a look of concern in her eye. "The nurses gave me paracetamol," I informed her.
"That's good. I told Aizawa-sensei about your situation. So he suggested that you come anyway," She placed a hand across her chest. "Do you think we can go to the cafeteria or do you want me to bring lunch here?"
I smiled a little. "I'll stay here," I patted my desk lightly. "Understood, I'll bring you back some lunch." She left the class. "Thank you," I called after her.
"How are you doing now?" Kirishima appeared beside Denki. "Good," I slumped back into my seat. "Oi," Bakugo called out to his friends. My heart lept into my throat. His shirt was slightly unbuttoned and his hands were sunk into his pockets. "Give that sick bitch some space," he said. My romantic fantasy shattered like broken glass in my face. He draped an arm around Kirishima's shoulders and two of them le for the cafeteria. Kirishima waved before they were forcibly dragged out of class. Why do I feel kind of betrayed when I should have seen this coming?
Ochaco and Asui joined Mina before they left the class. "You sure you going to be alone?" Mina peered from the door. "Eh-yea. Carry on, it's fine." I shooed her away. "Let me know if you need anything," Iida smiled as he marched out. I was soon left alone in the dark empty classroom. I folded my arms over my desk and sunk my face in it.
What the hell is wrong with me? Why do I keep losing my shit in front of that blond. But he's so ho-No!
No...no.. no! Stop that!
The silence in the classroom was killing me. The door slid open pouring light into the room. "Here," Yaomomo placed two bento boxes on my desk and slid the door behind her. She flicked on a few light switches which dimly lit the classroom.
"I brought mine back just in case you needed company," She pulled Ojiro's chair opposite my desk. "Thank you so much," I smiled and plucked the two chopsticks before I started. "This must be far too expensive!" I was looking at an assortment of sushi, ramen, miso and shrimps. "It's a treat on me, take it." She peeled the lip from hers. "I owe you," I smiled.

"Class," Aizawa cleared his throat. "Your next term evaluation is based on the projects you take up with your hero agency. Based on the projects you wish to show into your portfolio will decide the results of the specialization you will take. The class gasped. "I will be handing out these forms to you so you can fill in the agency you want to be evaluated against."
He placed a sheet on my desk. "For those looking for a project or not affiliated with an agency need to speak to me in my office." He finished. A true hero agency - oh my god, this is THE dream!
