"WAIT....WHAT?" SODA'S voice softened.

"Yes, Soda. I'm leaving to go to college. I'm going to be a neurosurgeon just like my dad." I replied and started picking up all of the beer bottles.

Soda stopped me from picking up the beer bottles and turned me around to face him. "You can't leave, Blue. You just can't. I need you, but if this is what you want, then I'm happy for you. What did Dally have to say about it?"

"Dally already knows." I let go from his grip and opened my window to throw away the beer bottles.

I put my ear against my cold hardwood door and didn't hear a peep.

The party must've stopped about an hour ago.

"Well, what did he have to say about it?" Soda questioned, helping me throw away the beer bottles.

I shrugged. "He told me that he was proud of me, and as much as he didn't want to say it, he told me he would miss me."

"Skylar... about earlier." Soda started, but I cut him off.

"It's fine, Soda. I know you don't feel the same way, I just wanted you to know after me having to keep it in for years." I shook my head and flashed him a fake smile.

"But I know you're not okay, Blue." He lifted my chin up so I was looking straight into his baby blue eyes.

"Listen, I do love you, Blue. I'm not lying when I say that, but I only see you as a little sister."

I pulled away and laughed. "Okay. Can you go now? I have a whole house to clean."

Soda sighed. "I'm sorry, Skylar."

Skylar? He never calls me Skylar.

"Why did you call me by my real name?" I asked while walking downstairs.

"Because whenever I call you by your real name, I get your attention. I really want you to know I'm sorry. I just don't feel the same way about you." He remarked.

I rolled my eyes. "Just go, alright? I have to clean up this....." My mouth dropped.

It looked like my house got hit by a tornado and hurricane all at once. "Mess." I finished my sentence and sighed.

"Are you sure you don't want me to help you?" Soda questioned while picking up a pair of someone's underwear off of my staircase and cringing.

"Yes, I'm sure." I gritted through my teeth, getting impatient.

"Alright bye, Blue." Soda whispered and walked towards the door.

Once he left, I made sure no one was in the house and started crying.

Why does my life have to be so terrible?

"Skylar, are you okay!? You never cry!" Two-Bit came running down the stairs and sat beside me, hugging me.

"Soda doesn't feel the same way, Two." I sobbed and leaned into his shoulder.

Two rocked me back and forth like a mom would do to her baby until I finally calmed down. "Thank you, Two-Bit." I sniffled.

"I'm sorry, Minnie. I'm really sorry. Soda's still kind of in love with Sandy. I don't know if he told you or not, but he is. He talks about her constantly still." Two-Bit sighed.

"Of course he does. He didn't tell me because he knew I wouldn't talk to him ever again if he did." I raised my voice, getting angry.

"Do you want me to tell him that you're upset?" Two-Bit asked, standing up.

"No no no no no! This stays between you and me." I remarked pointing to Two-Bit and then to myself.

"But you never cry, Minnie. You're really upset." Two-Bit frowned.

I sighed. "I know, Two. Just please don't. For me."

"Alright." Two-Bit gave up and walked out.

I started cleaning up the whole house and once I was done, I got dressed in a white, long sleeve shirt that hangs down a bit so it reveals my pale shoulders, and some daisy duke shorts with a design on them.

[Picture below. This is Skylar in the picture too.]

I glided down my staircase and walked to Sarah's house.

Her parent's car wasn't in the driveway, so I opened the door like usual, but instead I slammed it. "SARAH ELIZABETH CARPENTER!" I screamed.

I heard someone cuss upstairs and I furrowed my eyebrows. I ran upstairs and opened her door. My eyes got wide and I quickly slammed the door. "Oops, sorry!" I laughed.

"Dang it, Skye. You have the worst timing ever!" Steve yelled, which made me laugh even harder.

"You know, I was having a terrible day, but this made it a hundred times better." I giggled and sat on the floor beside her door.

"Well, I'm super glad we could make your day better." Sarah retorted sarcastically.

"What happened that made it terrible, though? It looked like you and Soda were having TONS of fun up on that roof."

I rolled my eyes. "Yeah. Fun. It was until my drunk self got some courage and I told him my feelings for him."

"WHAT?!" Steve and Sarah shouted at the same time.

"Yeah, and even worse he SISTER ZONED me!" I screamed and kicked at the floor like a little kid.

"He sister zoned you? That had to hurt like hell." Steve remarked.

"Oh, shut up, Steve." I rolled my eyes. "Don't you remember the time you got brother zoned by Claire?"

"Wait, who's Claire?" Sarah asked.

Steve groaned. "Thanks, Skye."

"No problem!" I replied cheerfully.

"We'll get back to Claire after she leaves, but Skylar are you okay?" Sarah asked, her voice getting soft.

I swallowed back the lump in my throat and banged my head against the wall.

"I'm always okay."

Everything was silent until the door opened. Steve and Sarah came out and looked at me on the floor.

"Skylar, you know Soda doesn't have a brain. He probably just wasn't thinking."

I laughed as tears once again fell down my face. "Yeah, sure. He was just thinking about Sandy."

Sarah rushed over to me and pulled me into a hug. "I'm going to find that Sandy girl and she'll be sorry when I do."

I laughed, a real laugh this time. "Sarah, you can't even fight the cruelest person in this world. You have too big of a heart to do that."

She smiled. "I'd do it for my best friend though."

Steve picked me up and gave me a hug. "That must've really hurt you, huh? You never cry."

I chuckled. "That's exactly what Two said."

"You cried before this too?" Steve questioned, getting mad.

"Steve, just leave it alone. Soda probably doesn't mean it in a rude way. He's the nicest person I've ever met. I honestly don't think he even thought for a second that it would make me cry." I replied, defending him.

Steve let me down and sighed. "So, are you going to the DX full time now?"

"Umm, actually I will until summer is over." I chuckled nervously.

"Why?" Steve furrowed his eyebrows.

"I'm going to college after summer is over, Steve. I'll be gone for a long time." I looked at him and gave him a sad smile.

He grinned. "I'm going to miss you, little sis. I'm proud of you though."

I smiled. "Thanks, Stevey." I used the nickname I used to give him when we were kids.

"Wait, what did Soda say about this?" Sarah asked, crossing her arms.

"He got upset and told me that he needed me and that he didn't want me to leave because he needed me, but that if that was what I wanted then he's happy for me." I explained, recalling what Soda said to me earlier.

"See? That's what a boyfriend would say. A brother would say what Steve said." Sarah explained, shaking her head.

"Well, if he says I'm his sister, then I guess I'm his sister." I shrugged.

I walked downstairs and yelled. "Bye guys!"

Time to go find Johnny.

Steve

"YOU KNOW, IT'S crazy." I spoke, shaking my head.

"What?" Sarah asked, giving me a hug.

"Everyone can see that Soda is in love with Skylar, except Soda and Skylar."
