NINETEEN

"I'M SORRY, BLUE. I just thought you'd like a little party." Soda apoligized.

I smiled and waved my hand in dismissal. "Forget it. Let me and Sarah go get changed and we'll be down here."

I pulled Sarah up the stairs and heard Steve howl. "Whoop!"

We both basically tore up my closet trying to find something to wear. "You have absolutely nothing dressy in your closet." Sarah huffed, pulling out a pair of my skinny jeans.

I rolled my eyes. "Well sorry I'm not like any other of the Greaser girls in this neighborhood. I prefer skinny jeans over dresses, ya know."

Sarah gasped and a light bulb might as well have gone off in her head. "I have an idea! What about your mom's closet? She owned a lot of dressy things."

"I- I don't know." I hesitated. "I've never liked going through her things."

"C'mon, Skylar. Have you ever even been in their bedroom after the accident?" Sarah questioned, giving me a sympathetic look.

I glanced at the floor and didn't say anything. "That's it." She remarked.

She dragged me out of my bedroom and into my parent's bedroom. She closed the door behind us and I took a deep breath and smiled.

It still had my parent's scent. It was so strong it were as if they were actually in the room with us. We walked over to my mom's side of the closet and immediately found beautiful party dresses. "Your mom was quite the partier, huh?" Sarah chuckled.

"Oh, yeah." I replied while pulling out a black dress that was absolutely gorgeous.

"You HAVE to wear that!" Sarah squealed.

As you can tell, she's the girly one out of us two. I put my dress on and Sarah gasped. "You're going to blow Soda's mind."

"Now it's my turn to help you blow Steve's mind." I glided over to the closet and pulled out a beautiful red dress.

"Oh, Steve loves the color red. Trust me, he's going to like this dress." I smirked.

When we walked downstairs, everyone, and I mean everyone stopped and turned to look at us. I could feel my cheeks getting as red as Sarah's dress.

Soda and Steve's jaws dropped open and I glanced at Sarah and chuckled.

"Wow..... wow..." Soda stumbled over his words which made me giggle.

"Let's go let loose." I yelled, raising my hands up in the air.

"Since when did you let loose?" Steve questioned while twirling Sarah around.

"Since a little birdy told me so." I shrugged and glanced over at Two-Bit chugging two bottles of beer at the same time. I shook my head and laughed.

"Let me guess, that's the little birdy you're talking about." Soda came up behind me chuckling.

"Whatever." I laughed.

Soda gave me a bottle of beer and he got himself one too. I just looked at the beer bottle. I haven't drunk one before. Plus, it's illegal.

Soda smirked at me. "I thought you said let loose."

I huffed. "It's illegal."

Soda shrugged. "Suit yourself, goodie-two shoes."

I grabbed his arm and quickly dragged him upstairs. I pushed him into my room and slammed the door while locking it.

"Umm, Skylar?" Soda asked, a nervous tone in his voice.

I walked over to my window and raised it up, revealing my roof. "C'mon." I gestured.

Soda climbed out onto the roof with me and we both looked up at the beautiful sunset.

"So, this is what you and Pony do every night." Soda glanced around admiring everything.

"Soda, can I tell you something?" I asked, fiddling with my fingers.

He looked at me and smiled. "You can tell me anything."

"The reason that I don't drink is not because I want to keep my athletic body, but it's because both of my parents were alcoholics. Dally is one too. I'm just scared that if I drink just one bottle of alcohol tonight, it will continue and I won't be able to stop."

Soda nodded and when I finished talking, he stood up on the roof. "Blue, if you ever find yourself in a hospital bed and you're going through all of the moments you lived in life, what would you remember most? The things you weren't supposed to do but did anyway, or the things that you did that you were always supposed to do?"

I contemplated his question for a minute and stood up with him. I opened the beer bottle and took a sip.

Soda laughed. "How is it?"

I shrugged. "It tastes good, but it doesn't taste addictive to me, so that's awesome."

Soda took another sip. "We're so going to get wasted tonight."

2 HOURS LATER

"SODA, THIS IS the best night ever!" I slung my beer into the air and wobbled.

Soda fell on his back and started laughing uncontrollably. "Yes, this is the amazingest day ever."

"Is that even a word?" I slurred.

"Of course it is!" Soda yelled getting defensive. "It's totally in the dictionary."

I laid on my back beside Soda and stared right at him. "Do people remember what happened the night they were drunk?"

Soda looked at me. "Sometimes. It depends on how much they drink."

"Well, how many have we had to drink?" I questioned, putting my beer bottle to the side.

"Umm...... eight each?" Soda laughed nervously. "We probably won't remember anything."

"That's good." I sighed, sitting up.

Soda sat up with me and furrowed his eyebrows. "Why is that good? We had a great night."

"Soda," I began, "I've had feelings for you ever since I knew what the word 'love' meant."

Soda's eyes got wide. "Blue, I think you had too much to drink tonight."

"What are you talking about, Soda? I'm serious. I know I've had eight beers to drink, but this is sober talk." I ran my fingers through my hair and saw Soda looking off into the distance.

I scoffed. "I already know you're going to remember this night just like I will. I may have gotten drunk tonight, but that doesn't mean I lost all of my brain cells, Soda. I know about alcohol, trust me. I've dealt with my parents and Dally."

He didn't answer me and I gulped. "Soda, I've liked you for a long time, and I know that you're going to say no. I just wanted you to know."

"Why did you want me to know right at this very moment?" Soda asked, looking straight into my eyes.

"Because, Soda. After summer is over, I'm leaving for college for a long time."
