Chapter 9
"Well, it's about time you two showed up here," Dad said grinning, as he came out from behind the counter.
"Hey dad!" I replied as he wrapped me into a hug.
"Hey John," Ryan said, holding his hand out.
"Bring it on in Ryan," Dad said opening up his arms for a hug as Ryan moved into them. "Come on kids, let's have a seat. Jody can you put on a few burgers please, and bring some milkshakes over."
"Daddy, I need some time off."
"Take as much time as you need," he smiled before turning to Ryan, "Where ya takin her son?"
"Well that was easier than I thought," I whispered under my breath.
"Miami, first, to spend some time with mom, then back to New York, before the season starts. Are you still planning to come up with Michael to catch a games this season?"
"Of course, I wouldn't miss it for the world! Thank you Jody," he grinned as the food was sat on the table. "When are y'all headin out?"
"Tomorrow morning, your burgers never fail Mr. White," Ryan said scarfing it down as he turned to me, "You gonna eat that?"
"Go ahead," I said just as a boy walked over and asked Ryan to take a picture with him.
I turned back to my dad, "Will you be ok while I'm gone?"
"Honey, I was doing just fine before you started working here," Dad said with a chuckle, "We'll find a way to manage, besides it's about time you two figured things out. Look at him," he paused looking at Ryan and the young boy, "He's a good guy, and he's still crazy about you darlin."
"But daddy, I don't want to leave you and Michael behind," I said tearing up.
"Living your life isn't leaving anyone behind. You'll both be coming home for a few games during basketball season," he replied with a chuckle, "And do you really think I'd miss any of Ryan's home games? Those seats are amazing."
"You and Michael are both the same," I laughed, as I wiped the tears away and stood up to give him a hug.
"Ready to go?" Ryan asked walking over.
"Yup," I replied, taking his hand.
"John, we'll see you later, we have to meet Michael and Ann at the fair."
"Have fun, and be safe."
"Bye daddy."

I picked up my phone and started to scan my notifications as Ryan started the car.
"Do you think it'll ever die down?" I asked quietly.
"What do you mean?"
"The buzz about us, I mean look at this," I said showing him my phone, "I've gotten over 200 new friend requests and even more texts from people I haven't talked to in years, and even more texts from numbers I don't even know. All because of some picture I didn't even consent to."
"It'll get easier, I promise," Ryan reassured, taking my hand. "In the meantime, we'll get your number changed and you can give it to who you want too. And look at the bright side, you got me and I'm one hell of a prize."
"Yeah, such a prize," I laughed.
"You wound me!"
"I'll make it better," I whispered placing my lips on his neck. I felt the car come to a stop, I looked up and noticed all the people walking up, seeing a couple look my way made me more nervous than I would like to admit.
"Don't worry about the stares," Ryan said, reading my mind. "Were here to see our friends, that's all that matters."
"Easy for you to say," I huffed, "Look at you, you're a Greek god walking earth and I'm just... me."
"I haven't been able to take my eyes off you all day, and what you do to me is something I can't even put into words," he replied placing his lips on mine, he placed my hand on his zipper
"Ryan!" I cried as I pulled back.
"What babe?" He asked with the most arrogant smile.
"The last thing we need is more pictures taken!"
"Let them take their pictures," he murmured, against my lips.
"Seriously bro? The last thing I want to see is you pawing all over my sister," Michael groaned as he walked over to my door and opened it. "And Mila, for the love of all things holy, put the top on the jeep tonight, you all could use the privacy."
"How'd you know we were here?" I asked while stepping out of the jeep.
"We all saw you all pull up, I figured I'd be nice and come get y'all," Michael replied condescendingly, as he handed us our tickets.
"Yeah nice," Ryan laughed as he took my hand.
"Come on babe, let's get this over with."
"Where'd y'all go anyways?" Michael asked.
"I went and talked to dad, just like you suggested. And honestly I have to say he was a lot calmer about this than you were," I replied.
"Yeah, sorry about that, Ann chewed me out too."
"I like Ann she's too good for you," Ryan smirked.
We heard them before we saw them. Ann, Liv and Alex and were all at a small round table. Ryan and Michael took a seat and started talking with the guys. I stood up and motioned for the girls to follow me to the funnel cake stand.
"How long until they notice were gone?" Ann asked.
"They probably won't," I replied laughing as I got to the window, "One funnel cake and three beers, please."
"So homewrecker, has he changed much since high school?" Liv asked, as I gave Ann a look, "Hey it's not her fault that it's all over the internet. Though she did tell me that he looks hot as fuck in his underwear."
"Ugh really Ann?" I groaned.
"So has he?" Ann asked.
"Surprisingly, no. He's still the cocky boy next door," I sighed.
"Only hotter and richer of course, which makes you not just a homewrecker, but also a gold digger," Liv laughed.
"Oh yeah, totally! He is way hotter though." I chirped, while eyeing Ryan. He caught me staring and gave me a wink, and went back to talking with the guys.
"Seriously?" Ann complained, "Out of all the guys he's the one that noticed we we're gone?"
"Pretty sure he only cares that Mila's gone. Man, he's got it bad," Liv said taking my funnel cake and I took the beers and carried them over to the table, placing two in front of Ryan.
"Thanks babe," he said placing his hand on my knee.
"See told y'all B-A-D, bad," Liv laughed, as she took part of my funnel cake. "So what's the plan for tonight, because I am not sitting around this table listening to y'all talk all night long."
"I want to ride some rides before the derby starts," Ann said, "And look at that the ferris wheel line isn't that crowded."
"Okay, okay," Alex said standing up and pulling Liv to his side, and walked to the line.
"I can't wait to get you out of here," Ryan whispered into my ear, with his wrapped his arms around my front, as he stood behind me in line.
"See man, I told you that's Ryan slate!" Exclaimed the guy outside the line.
"Fuck," Ryan said under his breath.
"Can I get a picture?" the guy asked annoyingly.
"Sure." Ryan replied, as the guy pushed me into Liv and Alex.
"Watch it douchebag," Alex shouted. The line started to move and we were ushered into a seat.
"It'll be easier in the city, there's so many people no one notices me unless there's cameras," Ryan said wrapping his arm around my shoulder.
"Ok."
"We can leave after this."
"You won't mind?" I asked turning to look at him.
"Not if you take a picture with me at the top," Ryan smiled taking out his phone and snapping a few pictures of us.
"Are you sure you don't mind leaving after this?"
"Nope. Besides, I've already seen everyone and talked, and now all I want is to be alone with you," he replied nuzzling my neck. He pulled my waist closer to him, and I laid my head on his shoulder and enjoyed the rest of the ride.
