㉛Why Are You So Addictive?
Taehyung grimaced and hummed in irritation when an annoying, piercing sound perforated his ears. Why did I set an alarm? He lazily extended his hand in an attempt to reach for the phone, but he groaned when it collided with something hard.
"What are you even doing?"
The hoarse voice caused him to shoot his eyes open, and he was met with a scowling Jeongguk who rubbed his chest. "Shut this off," he grumbled as he shoved his head under the pillow.
"You have to get up, anyway." He complied with his whiny request and shut off the annoying alarm.
"Why?"
"You have a contract to sign, remember?"
"Why do I have to come from eight in the morning?"
"I'm touched that you know what time I get to work," Jeongguk impishly said as he pulled the pillow off his head.
"Leave me alone," he mumbled and draped the blanket over him. But Jeongguk snatched it and flung it to the side, evoking another groan from him. "Why am I here?"
"You fell asleep. And now get up, you're gonna make me late."
"I need sleep, Jeongguk!" he grizzled as he turned his back to him and curled up into a ball.
"And I need you to get your ass out of this bed, come on." A spank on his ass accompanied his words, something that made the other yelp.
"Don't touch my ass, you perv!" he hissed as he massaged the abused spot, a deep scowl cloaking his face.
"If you don't get up, I'm gonna do it again."
"You wouldn't," he said warily as he glanced at him above his shoulder. He spotted a sly smile on his lips and rolled onto his back in a flash, afraid that the younger would do it again at any moment. "I hate you!"
"I don't mind." Jeongguk lifted an idle shoulder and leaned closer to the annoyed boy to place a soft kiss on his exposed collarbone before he hopped off the bed.
Taehyung went frozen solid upon feeling his lips against his skin, his eyes double their size, and his mouth slightly open in surprise. Although it was natural for them to touch and cuddle now, giving these kinds of kisses wasn't something so usual between them.
"You have fifteen minutes."
His voice had him flinching, wrenching him out of his thoughts. He nodded, and Jeongguk made his way to the bathroom. Taehyung slid off the bed and trod to his room. Once he freshened up, he went to his closet and grabbed his black dress pants and his burgundy dress shirt. Fully ready in under twelve minutes, he scuttled towards the kitchen.
"You're fast," Jeongguk said with a chuckle as he took two sandwiches out of the fridge.
"I'm surprised you are too. How do you decide so easily what to wear from the million clothes you have?"
Jeongguk looked at the boy in front of him with a bored expression. "A million? Seriously?"
"It's called irony and you're such a boomer."
"It's called stupidity and you're so not funny."
Taehyung huffed at his words, eyes rolling in scorn. How neatly the younger was dressed came to his attention then, and he couldn't help but pout. "I didn't have anything better to wear. Sorry," he said, voice muted and saddened, as he lowered his head.
"What are you talking about? You look great." Jeongguk frowned at his remark. "It doesn't matter what you wear anyway. You're still beautiful. Here, eat."
A bashful smile swept across his lips at his flattering words as he grabbed the sandwich. "Thanks." He took a bite and then looked at him again. "You don't know how to make breakfast, do you?"
"Um, no," he admitted in a hushed tone as he glanced away, and he pouted when he heard a small chuckle from him. "Don't mock me. I want to learn."
Taehyung's laugh piped down in an instant once he perceived how serious and self-conscious he seemed. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make fun of you. I was just joking," he uttered as he neared him with tentative steps. "I can help you learn." He offered him a warm smile and a tender hug which Jeongguk accepted without delay.
"Yeah, that would be nice." The corner of his lips tipped up into a smile at his offer. They pulled back a few seconds later, and he took hold of his keys. "You can continue eating in the car if it's okay. I don't want to be late."
"Sure, I don't mind," Taehyung reassured with another delicate smile, and they exited the house, heading to the car. "You have been working extra hours for some time now," he said once the younger started the engine.
"Yeah, it's too much to handle sometimes."
"You shouldn't overwork yourself. Your hyungs are worried too."
"My hyungs are always worried," he snickered. "If I work too much, they scold me. If I don't finish everything, they scold me. I don't know what to do in the end."
"I bet Yoongi scolds you the most."
"Exactly."
"I don't think he likes me, by the way."
"Why do you think that?"
"I'm sure you have noticed how he glares at me from time to time. Or how everything he says to me ends up with irony or mockery."
"I haven't actually. I don't pay attention to what he does most of the time." His jaunty tone managed to bring a mild smile to Taehyung’s lips. "He's just not a so welcoming person. He's cold, but he cares. It took me a while to realize that too, but he really cares."
"For you of course he does. You're his dongsaeng."
"And you're a part of my life. He has to treat you well."
"It's okay. I know I provoke him too sometimes. It's not only his fault."
"Yeah, you're a brat too sometimes." Both chuckled as they glimpsed at each other. "Don't worry, I'll talk to him."
"No, don't. It's okay."
The younger creased his brows at the intensity of his voice but nodded. "Okay."
They resumed chatting blithely until they reached their destination and stepped out of the car.
A surge of nervousness ripped through Taehyung as they entered the building. He could remember vividly the last time he was there and couldn't help but feel horrible for the scene he had made. But he was also apprehensive about the job because he didn't want to screw it up, and to be honest, he wanted Jeongguk to praise him for his good work.
"Good morning, Mr—Tae!?" Jisoo exclaimed with a shocked expression upon seeing the black-haired boy.
"Hey, Jisoo."
"It's been so long." Jisoo ruffled the boy's hair, making him chuckle.
"Jisoo, don't pester the boy," Jeongguk said, a hint of annoyance in his voice.
"Sorry, Mr. Jeon!"
"What? No, don't listen to him, you're not pestering me." Taehyung looked askance at him as he smacked his shoulder.
"You're so lucky to be friends with Mr. Jeon."
"Oh, you have no idea." The derision that coated his tone was outright obvious, something that made the CEO roll his eyes.
"We'll be leaving now," he murmured as he grabbed Taehyung by his forearm and dragged him towards the elevator.
"Why are you dragging me?"
"Because I'm scared about what it's gonna come out of your mouth next," he hissed as he pressed the elevator button on repeat.
"I'm not gonna embarrass you," he scoffed as he crossed his arms and turned his head away from him.
The elevator doors opened a few seconds later, and the two boys waited for the people to get off. But when it partly emptied, Taehyung stuttered to a halt as his eyes fell on a familiar blonde boy.
Jeongguk peered at him in confusion as he held the doors open. "What's wrong?"
The black-haired boy ducked his head and rushed into the elevator then. It was extremely awkward for him since only the three of them were in there, and he fidgeted in his place nonstop. He had said some not so nice things to that blonde boy the last time he encountered him and felt a whirlwind of remorse surge through him. After a minute of absolute, uneasy silence, he couldn't fight it anymore.
"I'm sorry," he blurted out, drawing their attention to him.
"Why are you—"
"Shh," he shushed Jeongguk immediately and ventured to lay his eyes on the blonde boy. "I insulted you, and it was totally uncalled for. I'm sorry."
Yugyeom chuckled faintly as he shook his head. "You still remember that? It's okay, um, your name?"
"Taehyung."
"I'm Yugyeom," he said with a bright smile and went for a handshake which the other accepted gingerly. "Don't worry about it though."
Taehyung only nodded as he retracted his hand.
"Oh, and he has a dick." The blonde cast a loaded look at Jeongguk who now had an astounded expression on his face by his words. "And it's not average size, if you know what I mean," he continued, a jumble of insinuations hiding behind his remark.
"I-I didn't—I didn't ask though?" Taehyung frantically spluttered, all out shocked and flustered by the new information.
"I know, but I wanted to get on his nerves, and apparently, I did," Yugyeom mocked as he shot another knowing glance at Jeongguk and then vanished from their sight.
"Yah!" Jeongguk bellowed as they got off the elevator and stared at the blonde who scurried down the hallway. His lips grew thin with annoyance as he inhaled a deep breath from his nose. "Don't pay attention to him."
"You mean... he lied?" Taehyung mumbled, sending him a series of timid glances.
"He didn't—what—Tae!" he snarled, but when he discerned the other nibbling his lip in an attempt to stifle his laugh, he arched a sly brow. "Why do you care anyway?"
An appalled, choked sound jumped out of his now open mouth. "What? I don't! Why would I care about that?" His embarrassment skyrocketed the moment he sensed heat bloom on his cheeks.
"You get flustered way too easily," Jeongguk snickered as he opened the door to his office.
"I don't, shut up!" He cupped his flushed cheeks, patting them. "What am I supposed to do now?"
"You can just sit here for a while until I finish some things, and then I will arrange a meeting with my hyungs," he explained as he settled down at his desk.
"Sounds boring." Taehyung sighed and plopped down onto the luxurious couch.
"You can sleep if you want." A fond chuckle slipped out of his mouth when he noticed his drowsy expression.
"I can't sleep so easily, you know."
"Why don't you just try it?"
Taehyung thought about it for a moment, but then he pouted. "I don't even have anything to hug."
"You have a lot of pillows." Jeongguk pointed at the three pillows beside him and looked at the sulky boy through soft eyes.
"They're too small."
"Then I can't help."
Taehyung's sulky mode deepened even more, but then an idea flashed up into his head. "Can I hug you?"
"Tae, I'm working."
"I won't bother you. I can even sleep while sitting if I get to hug you," he blurted out in a whiny tone, but a flash of disquiet traveled through him the moment he registered what he said. "I-I mean, you're just warm and h-help me relax."
"Okay." Although stunned at his words, Jeongguk smiled at the boy, and Taehyung sprang up from his seat right away, skipping to him. Shit, he has to sit on my lap again. He stiffened a tad at this thought. Just don't think about anything.
Taehyung took his seat on his lap then; he swathed his arms around his back and his legs around his waist as he pressed the side of his face against his chest, practically latching onto him like a koala. His chair was big enough, and the petite boy was able to get comfortable to the max.
"You're comfortable?" Jeongguk asked when the boy stopped fidgeting.
"Very! You?"
"Me too." He chuckled mildly, a dulcet sound that felt like heaven to Taehyung's ears. He could never get sick of his addictive laugh.
Jeongguk started working, and for some reason, he felt an unexpected serenity spread through his chest with the older wrapped around him. He could smell his floral scent all he wanted since his head was just under his chin, and he didn't miss a chance to do so from the moment he sat on his lap.
Thankfully, all he had to do at that moment was write a ton of emails and reply to a lot of emails as well, search for new investments and investors, and check some documents. He could do all of these things on his computer so he didn't have to move around and bother Taehyung.
He didn't know how the boy managed to fall asleep in that position, but soon enough, he did. His whole body mellowed, and he melted on him, but he stayed in his place, clung to him.
An hour passed by, and Jeongguk didn't even realize it until he glanced at the time. We should do this more often. He took a small break to curl his arms around the sleeping boy, his entire existence brimming with content.
He drew a soft kiss on the top of his head and squeezed him once. Taehyung snuggled closer to him, rubbing his ass against his crotch in the process, something that had him sucking in a breath. At least he's asleep, he reassured himself as he closed his eyes, trying to contain the sudden tightness in his pants.
He started working again since he wasn't even halfway through the emails he had to check yet. And another forty-five minutes went by when he heard a few knocks on his door that made him flinch.
"Good morning—"
"Shh."
"What am I seeing?" Yoongi asked with raised eyebrows.
"He's sleeping."
"The question is why on you?"
"He needed something to hug," he mumbled as he whisked his gaze away.
"Why is he here? Why aren't you working?"
"I'm working," he gritted out, irritation braising inside him. "He'll take the job you guys offered. We'll have a meeting in one hour."
"How can you possibly work with him on your lap?"
"I'm replying to all these stupid emails at the moment. It's not so hard, you know."
"Whatever. Just make sure you don't make any mistakes. I don't want this boy to be a distraction for you."
"Hyung." Jeongguk sighed as his fingers dug into his palms. "Leave."
"Don't you think you're very protective over him?"
"It's none of your business," he spat out a dram louder than he should as he couldn't fence in his vexation.
"I'm just saying."
"Don't. Just leave and tell the others about the meeting."
Yoongi glared at the boy but didn't say anything else. He pivoted on his heel and got out of his office, closing the door behind him with a slight thud.
He felt the older clutch at him tighter and snapped his gaze at him. "Am I a distraction?" Taehyung glanced up at him with sleepy, doe eyes that struck warmth into his heart.
"You heard?" he whispered as he surrounded his waist with his arms.
"I did."
"You don't have anything to worry about. You're anything but a bother to me."
"Really?" His face brightened upon hearing what he said, his pouty lips now stretched into a gleeful smile.
Smiling fondly at the boy in his embrace, Jeongguk felt the need to kiss his forehead. He had never done that before, and he mused over it for a bit, but eventually, he just went for it. He pressed a long, sweet kiss on his forehead, sensing his grasp around him tighten.
Taehyung closed his eyes at the euphoric feeling as he felt protected, safe, happy, and a few other things he couldn't define at the moment, and he was even more elated when another heart-melting kiss was placed on the same spot.
"You're so cute, Tae."
"You're more," he said with a hearty smile as buried his face into the curve of his neck and drew a tiny kiss a tad higher from his collarbone.
Taehyung couldn't get enough of his hug. He could stay in this position all day, and he would gladly take a nap like this again. Why are you so addictive? He found himself thinking before he pressed another kiss on his neck, something that made the younger's body tingle at the ecstatic sensation.
