Chapter 40
It's quite ironic...
Why must there be chaos in order. Order in chaos.
Both incomparable and yet inseparable.
Maybe that's why I was so attracted to her in the past.
So many fond memories locked away for a greater cause.
Is it a greater cause?
I don't remember anymore...
Why was I here again?
Nothing makes any sense anymore
Like how talking cats can somehow fly in giant metal machines
Like how those strange people wearing costumes are fighting my supposed many-times great grandson.
Like how...oh, it seems I'm being interrupted.
There was a sonic boom and the man in white was send off into the distance with a giant cloud of smoke obscuring the area he'd been. As the dust settled there was a single glowing blue eye floating in the haze, they looked into the distance with a sword in hand as the man in white continued through buildings and cars off into the distance. A portal suddenly opened up behind him and another figure with a giant hammer in both gauntlets stepped through.
"Alpha..." Forge spoke warningly and he was given a side glare that cause him pause. "...just be careful alright." Alpha nodded and looked back at Order in the distance as Forge stepped back through the portal to join the other two that were with him. Alpha decided that he'd waited enough and there was a faint after-image left behind as he dashed towards Order with his sword raised.
I was enjoying myself pet. Order raised a hand as the blade swung down towards his head and looked at Alpha with a frown through his partial mask. You're trying to ruin Everything. A simple flick his his hand blasted Alpha to the side and through a few more buildings. Order looked in the direction the champion had gone and his eyes flicked to the ship that was approaching his area of control. The being in it would be quite useful to his plan, if only they got close enough to fall into his control...
His hand raised again and blocked the sword mere inches away from beheading him, a large boom resounding through the area at the impact. Order glanced at Alpha in annoyance, this little roach wouldn't leave him alone.
"You didn't forget about me so easily did you?" He grinned, "I'm just getting started."
--------------------------------------
Forge stepped back through the portal and looked into the distance from atop the building he'd agreed to meeting the two others at if their portal here was interfered with and dropped them into random areas. A flicker in the darkness caused his guard to raise a bit but once Shadow came out instead he relaxed and continued to look into the distance. A streak of light appeared in the sky and turned abruptly in their direction but neither were worried about what potential dangers it could've been. After all they both knew that the streak of light was just the third of their team coming over to join them. Sundrop landed just beside Shadow and seeing the two of them were ready she spoke first looking around the city.
"Alright so we're all here." She waved her hands motioning around the city exasperated, "Now were the fuck are we supposed to find two people in this mess?" The other two shrugged.
"Well assuming that the Percy we know still manages to find the most annoying area of conflict possible and yet avoiding the main battle till the end we can mark the center of the city up to this point off that chart as this is the limit of Order's zone of influence." Forge said and the rest sighed and looked around the city individually for a moment, until Sundrop pointed to one particular area.
"Hey isn't that the cage thingie that Alpha was working with the mortal government with as a measure to trap Percy?" The others looked in that direction and enhanced their eyesight, but even then only Bianca got a decently clear view of what he was talking about and both scoffed.
"Sundrop you're the only one on the team, other than Silver, that has eyesight so enhanced." Forge said and Shadow nodded.
"Even I can barely made out the bars from this distance." She said and Forge pointed to her pointedly.
"A bunch of freaks you are," he scoffed, "With your super eyesight and all I get here is a teleporting hammer."
"A teleporting hammer that can ignore most armor and destroy bunkers you mean..." Shadow scoffed in return. "You don't get to call us freaks when you yourself are also a freak." She got a shit-eating grin in return and turned her head away with a huff.
"Will the both of you please focus on what's going on please?" Sundrop said, his bow appearing in his hands with a glowing golden arrow knocked on the equally shining string. Both of the warriors noticed something was off and readied themselves as well. "Sadly getting there is easier said than done, I'd thought it would take longer for the monsters and other creatures and beings controlled by Order to get here but here they are...in the way again."
"I feel like they always do things like this on purpose." Forge groaned and Shadow nodded.
"Yeah. I'm betting that even if they don't actually defeat us, slowing us down is good enough in most cases." Shadow sighed getting out a pair of chakram blades.
"Well lets show them that this time things will be different than the norm!" Forge roared and jumped off the building with his hammer raised to strike.
"And that's what they all say every single time" Shadow sighed as a large boom destroyed the building they were gathered on.
"I'll try to clear the annoying ones from afar. Just try to not engage as much as possible." He turned into a flash and a similar flash appeared on a nearby building.
"You make it sound so easy" She grumbled and fell backwards into her own shadow.
---------------------------------
You know you won't win against me alone Order said striking towards Alpha with a rapier of solid light. Alpha danced around his strikes and deflected others at times whilst trying to stay his ground against the primordial.
"I know." Alpha grinned, "Who said I was doing this alone?" Then he tilted his head slightly and a streak of light embedded itself into the forehead of Order. The Primordial's form flickered for a moment before fading out like a mirage. Silver dashed up to join Alpha's side and tsked at him.
"You could've waited till I'd gotten to a better spot and found his real body." She hissed and Alpha laughed.
"Ha! What fun would that be?" He grinned shifting his sword slightly while he looked around. "We don't want this to end too quickly, and I bet that shot was enough to piss him off a bit."
You insolent...! A wave of pure light incinerated the very atoms of everything in the area and if it weren't for Silver grabbing Alpha's arm and teleporting them to a building roof they'd have both suffered grave injuries.
"See." Alpha grimaced, still managing to keep his grin despite the tinge of fear that coursed through him. Where's Glamour? He projected a thought toward Silver and her gaze twitched slightly but she answered back.
She's keeping us from being overrun by cannon fodder at the moment. They both watched Order carefully and with a nod from Alpha they both moved. The pair disappeared from their spot overlooking the primordial and Alpha was suddenly in-front of Order with his sword raised once again.
The same trick won't work on me again... Alpha grinned.
"I know."
He then disengaged and lept outside an invisible ring as a torrent of silver streaks of light came raining down on Order like a rain of stars. Several of them stuck themselves in the pseudo armor robe of white energy and a few managed to pierce through the god's arms, legs, hands, and feet. Basically everywhere the robe wasn't covering at the moment of the attack, bar the head and neck, were struck through and the god looked at the cause with fury. Even when the same holes healed themselves at an impossible rate, bleeding white and melting the ground itself with static energy.
YOU. I'M GOING TO RIP YOU... Order's fury was interrupted once again when he noticed that one of his hands, the one pointing in Silver's direction, had been cut off at the wrist and had started falling to the ground. Order was done being passive about these two any longer. He exploded in power, incinerating the general area around him like a lightning strike and cracking the very ground with aura alone. Once the two adjusted to the newly lit form of Order they saw that every injury he'd had was gone and his hand had grown back instantly.
The robe of white energy had turned into a knight's armor with white lightning arcing from one area to another every few seconds. Order didn't speak anymore, he just pointed his hand in a direction and everything in that direction simply ceased to exist. It didn't matter what was in the way, be it ally or object, everything was incinerated for miles in the distance and the trio looked at the destruction in shock and awe. To think this was a fraction of the power of Primordials, if he'd used this much power from the start they wouldn't have stood a chance.
Glamour was taking a moment with the other two while the god looked around to find them. The blast of power had destroyed her glamour and consequently every monster or creature in the area around them for at least a mile or two. Silver and Alpha looked at her and he nodded in gratitude.
"Take a moment to rest. He doesn't know you're here yet and we'll distract him until you're recovered enough to do something." Silver nodded in agreement and the pair disappeared to re-engage with the pissed off god.
Glamour was arguably one of the most powerful of the group. With the ability to influence the mind and after so many ears practicing on both enemies and allies alike she was at the point where her glamours could effect the very fabric of reality for mere moments. However there was only so much she could do and since fighting wasn't really her thing she'd used up most of her power keeping the hordes of monsters away from the group while keeping her presence hidden from the primordial himself.
Now they just had to buy more time till Silver and the others got here with, hopefully, Percy and Annabeth in tow to put an end to this war.
Sorry it's been a while everyone. I've been taking care of my mom whose gone through a pretty big leg surgery and it's taken her this long (since my last update) to get to an area of moderation where she's semi-able to do things herself.
I'm betting that many of you are able to see the inconsistencies in my writing, and the horrible plot-holes I've accidentally caused over time, but I would also like to ask that you'd point them all out. No matter how small so I can keep this as close to the lore as possible whilst also keeping it untied to the plots of any events after The Giant War (The Blood of Olympus book) and the screwy in-between point I have for the Avengers just before 'Age of Ultron' (Avengers movie)
I can only hope that you all continue to keep your faith in me and I promise that, unless i cannot escape the claws of Death, I will forever try to keep updating on my profile until everything it over or I am satisfied.
I want to tell you of a schedule I've thought up but currently I'm already a day late in posting according to it so I am not going to be setting anything in clay just yet.
Anyways I hope that you all enjoyed and I'll see you next chapter!
