Chapter 24

Annabeth stepped through portal into the central area of, now Percy's throne room and looked around while she waited. The glowing red portal was in the center of a giant hall, close enough to the throne that she could see the many features inscribed upon its surface, but far away enough to still be able to admire the surrounding pillars and steps up to the throne.

Percy stepped through a few moments later, still calming down from the mistake that Iron Man, or Tony Stark, caused. He honestly liked calling the guy Metal man, but Annabeth didn't like it so he refrained from calling Tony that in front of her. As soon as he saw Annabeth all of his anger disappeared immediately and once he stepped away from the portal it closed and his arms encircled Annabeth's waist with his head almost able to rest atop her head.

"You like it here?" He asked and she nodded. Percy had redesigned the throne room, and hall, from it's previous dark toned, black and magma colored material to the more golden, subtly red and black mix that he had felt made it imposing, but didn't seem too dark. Tartarus was a little annoyed that Percy had changed the place like that, but Percy just glared at him and retorted to the time where Tartarus changed him into a Primordial against his wishes and made him heir and successor to the throne.

"Its amazing." Annabeth breathed and Percy's pride swelled to new heights with just those two words.

"Would you like a tour of the area?" Percy asked and Annabeth looked to the giant doors leading towards the front of the palace grimly. "We don't need to go outside just yet. You will eventually have to get use to it but we can take it slow for now okay?" Annabeth nodded and took his hand, still not minding the new claws, of which Percy had to maneuver his hand to grip hers safely in order not to cut her again.

"So which direction first?" Percy asked and Annabeth pointed to the left and with a slight hop she started ahead in that direction while he described the things around them and what had been changed or done with them from before. It was probably a three hour tour, longer due to Annabeth wanting to stop and just stare at something before going to another thing and studying it extensively.

Though as they rounded through a hidden passageway into the throne room again Percy got a sort of cosmic nudge, like he was being called somewhere, and it irritated him. Though the longer he ignored it the more pressure was applied to his psyche and after asking Annabeth to wait for him for a little while he followed the nudge to where it wanted him to go and found himself at a sort of meeting table.

A woman with hair darker than the night sky, with moving dots of light of random brightness and direction was waiting for him at the opposite end. She had pale skin and an average build, same goes for her height, which Percy found interesting as, if she was who he thought she was, he thought she would be at least six foot or something. She was wearing a black dress that frilled at the bottom, the same color as her hair and mirroring what was happening with the dots of light and her eyes looked like miniature galaxies which just brought out their color more compared to the rest of her.

"I assume you're Lady Chaos right?" Percy said and he caught a slight twitch of the lip at the 'Lady' part but otherwise she nodded, "Mind telling me why you were so insistent on getting me here?"

"I am sorry about that." She said, "I was hoping to catch you during a time where you weren't doing much of important but I'm afraid this conversation could not wait."

"I'll admit I am a little annoyed that you requested me at this time, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and let you explain yourself before I leave." Percy said and Chaos chuckled, earning a frown from Percy.

"Sorry. It's just if my champions/adopted children heard that from you they would be trying to either tear off your head or get me to make you kneel or something." She smiled, "It's refreshing to talk to someone of equal standing that has no qualms about manners sometimes."

"What was that?" Percy heard two things at once. Was it possible for someone to say something and it be heard as an entirely separate thing at the same time the word was said?

"Ah you heard?" She shied, "I don't really know how to explain it myself. You see some people hear the first word, and others hear the second and wonder why I said either when they know how I feel, but the rare person hears both and it still confuses me greatly as to why."

"Huh, okay. Just to clarify you were talking about the group of people that I fought in the Olympian Throne Room right?"

"Correct." Chaos looked Percy in the eyes, "I like to think of them as my adopted children, like Tartarus has done for you, but they are still a little reluctant to accept the title."

"Yeah I still have a hard time believing that Tartarus is actually my father, due to the time I was in his body as a Mortal." Percy said, "We're getting off topic. Why was I brought here?"

"I'm sorry, again, but I wanted to meet you myself." Chaos said, "I heard a lot about you during my children's training years, and even more from my son, your father, Tartarus and I wanted to meet my grandson before something bad may happen preventing it."

"That can't be only reason." Percy said conflicted. He wanted to be mad because this lady is keeping him from Annabeth for this, but at the same time she sort of reminds him of Hestia and how she feels to be around. Peaceful and calm, the exact opposite of what Percy felt her domain would entail, but that's what he felt.

"Ah, yes. I also wanted to talk to you about my husband and whats going on. As well as to ask a favor of you, but either aren't going to be things that you like so I figured I could try to get to know my grandson a little better before getting down to the serious mood bending stuff" Chaos said and Percy sighed. That made sense to be doing first, and while he didn't like keeping Annabeth in the dark it wasn't like he could...

"Can I have a moment real quick?" He asked and Lady Chaos motioned that he was fine so Percy connected to Annabeth's mind real quick to see how she was doing and break the news.

ANNABETH CAN YOU HEAR ME

Percy? Ow yes I can hear you just fine, tone it down a little or I might pass out

Ah sorry, I'm meeting with Lady Chaos right now and I wanted to ask how you felt about being left down there by yourself for a little while.

I-I'm fine

Annabeth...

Okay. I am a little nervous to be alone here, but as long as you don't take days I think I'll be fine.

I should only be gone a few hours, at most the day, or night, either way it shouldn't take too long okay.

Okay. Do whatever you need to I'll be fine for the moment, though I do want to ask about something before you leave.

Yeah?

Is there anything I can read about this place? Maybe a book, or even ancient texts? A library maybe? Percy chuckled, glad that she was already aiming to try and search for a place of comfort.

Yeah you know the first hidden passage I showed you?

Yeah.

Okay go down it again and halfway through there will be a fake wall to the right. If you follow that you'll get to the library. Though I do have to warn you I haven't updated that yet or changed how it looks so there'll likely be a lot of things you may not want to be around.

I-I'll be fine. Annabeth's tone hushed and Percy frowned glancing over at Chaos to see her patiently sitting there watching him.

You know what. Here, this is one of my swords. I can let another person wield if for a time, so until I return this is yours to use okay? As Percy said it Destruction disappeared from its sheath and into Annabeth's hands. I will also be able to find you no matter where you are with this, so keep it with you at all times.

Isn't this...

Yeah that's Destruction. It will change into a bracelet or whatever you will it to be when not used, and I have temporarily instructed it to bind to your being until I return. Percy said and sighed, Don't go or do anything stupid please.

Don't worry. I'll be in the library when you come back. Annabeth said and with that Percy cut the connection and looked at Chaos.

"Thank you for waiting." Percy said, "Now what would you like to know."

"You don't have to word it like that." Chaos huffed, "This isn't like an interrogation or something, so just ask a question about me and I'll ask one about you. Let's try to avoid bad topics and just get to know each other." She smiled and Percy sighed.

"Okay. Would you like to go first?" He asked and Chaos smirked.

"You're still a gentleman even after everything huh?" She whispered and then clapped. The loud noise startled Percy and in a moment he had gotten on top of his chair and was in a defensive stance. Chaos shied away embarrassed and Percy realized that this wasn't an attack and that she was just a little too overenthusiastic in the moment and he stepped down from the chair and tried to relax a little.

"Sorry about that. I didn't mean to..."

"It's fine." Percy said looking down at his claws also a little embarrassed.

"Okay so, uh, what's your favorite thing to do when you aren't hunting?" Chaos asked and Percy suddenly thought of something.

"Wait, don't you already know most of what you want to ask? I mean you can look at me whenever you want to or maybe you already know everything about me as it is so isn't this kinda a little pointless?" he asked and Chaos chuckled nervously.

"Ah, yes, I can look into what you're doing from time to time, but I like to leave other people's privacy alone, and while I am able to see a little about your future I cannot see everything, nor can I look that far into your past. It's a sort of limitation I set for myself as to not cross a line and abuse my powers."

"Okay, uh, thanks?" Percy rubbed the back of his neck ashamed of what he'd just implied, and that he kind of forced her to admit that she could spy on him, but couldn't at the same time. "Now to answer the question, I don't really know what I like doing other than hunting. Honestly now that I've become a mythological beast that has ties in hunting and humanity I can't find myself not enjoying the hunting part a little more every time."

"Okay then what is it that you like to do the most, beast or man-like." Chaos said and Percy hummed with thought.

"I guess that in my wolf form that would be running. Now that I'm part beast I love the feeling of the wind as I run and when it's raining I can even run through the air somewhat." Percy said, his excitement about running through the air resurfacing and causing Chaos's heart to melt. "Okay, my turn now."

"What do you like to do when you aren't working? I can't imaging that you get a lot of free time as the creator of the universe and all, but surely you get out and do fun things right?" Percy looked back at Chaos to see her looking at the table in thought.

"Well before I had the others to watch over, my champions/children I mean I enjoyed just looking at what was going on with the inhabitants across the millennia I was missing out on, and watching their civilizations grow through-out their galaxies and beyond." Chaos stopped for a moment, "But now? Now I think that I like just being around my champions/children and watching them grow."

"What is it like? Being a parent?" Percy asked and Chaos smiled brightly.

"I think that it's the best thing in the world," She got up and walked behind her chair to touch a portion of the space around her before sweeping her hand along the fault and creating a mirage of events that Percy could watch. Most were good moments of shadowed figures, and others, most moments were good ones where those figured seemed to be having good times: having fun, playing around, being stupid.

"I haven't been a close parent before so this is a bit of a new process for me, and for forever I have regretted not trying to be there as a mom for the Olympians and me and Order's children, but now I have a chance to do what I didn't before and I want to take full advantage of that before I unable to." Chaos said looking at the memories as they drifted by in the mirage. "Nothing lives forever, Percy. So I want to try and make the most of everything that I have now before I go so that I have no regrets and am able to leave good memories behind for those I care about to remember me by."

"Well I'm sure that they care about you too, all of them." Percy said standing up and making his way over to her. He stopped in-between the second and third seats towards her and leant against the second one away just watching the scenes flow by. "Even Order must care for you somewhere. I can't imagine him doing all of this because all he craves in control, and that he's forgotten what you both caused together and what good became of it."

"I do hope so." Chaos said wistfully, "Well enough of that I still have plenty of things to ask, and I'm sure you have many more questions too." Percy nodded in agreement and for the next few hours they both just talked about their lives and had a little moment of bonding before the disasters to come.

Thanks for reading.

I'm still a little amazed I can write this much (2460 words) in a little over three hours, maybe a little under, but either way I hope that you enjoyed and I apologize for the lateness...again. I procrastinate too much and it will be my downfall in this profession, but while I have it I will try to write as much as possible.

Fudge sleep right?

Anyways, I tried to make this chapter a little lengthy due to the fact that I haven't updated in a while despite saying that I will be devoting most of my time to this book, and then I got distracted writing Project Predator, and then after re-watching HunterxHunter I got distracted once again by some good books on this site (and only on this one I might add. Everywhere else I looked for HunterxHunter fan-fics that weren't malexmale ships was difficult)

I'm just dragging it out at this point and making useless excuses, so again I apologize and I know that it's a bit bold but I will be trying to put in my Patreon link every time I get the chance as I am hurting financially at the moment and trying to make this work.

If you've read this far you have my thanks and a cookie (here):

Please consider joining and again I do reccomend the $1 tier as general support of me as an author as I have no advanced chapters available to see, but I am going to be working on a multi-stage series soon (hopefully) and that will be the main focus of my Patreon.
