Chapter 21
Chaos didn't know what to think of the past few weeks, she thought that maybe after the past few galaxies Order failed assimilating would be the final point and he'd come to reason, and on the other hand she knew that this would be going on for quite a long time. At least until someone was able to finally beat it into the old man that trying to assimilate a universe wasn't going to go down well, or easily.
The mortals were actually doing quite a job, some of the monsters had found their way through worm holes and other small anomalies that happen during intergalactic war and were dealt with quickly after being found on Earth. It was so strange how one planet was the heart of all reality, and yet the only thing it's inhabitants were able to do it fight, eat, fight some more, reproduce, and sometimes there was that rare chance of technological revolution.
They were too far behind...
The Klaxites, a sort of hive mind society, had already found out how to use a star's solar presence and were starting to develop the technology of teleportation using rays of light. Messy as it was during the first stages they were coming along quite quickly and may even take over that part of the universe.
The immortals of Titan, basically giant metal women that made their own children, were already discovering how to create beam weapons using gems and mirrors, a little faster than they thought they'd have been able to...maybe something else influenced their actions. Chaos decided to look into that later.
That woman 'flying' through space using her own cosmic energy was currently fighting a fleet of Klaxites and keeping them from invading a rather pitiful planet of Indigenous Floureans, despite their name they are a vicious race of fighters that look like bipedal animals...humans called their kind 'Furries'. Ah maybe introducing those stones to Earth was a bit of a mistake on her part, it seems that it's created an imbalance of power along that side of the universe compared to the others.
Why don't humans take power to try and better their own race rather than using the sources of power to fight each other, and the occasional invaders. Though it was interesting that it sort of kick-started their race into the evolutionary mutations phase.
Oh look the Plythragonian Army has decided to annihilate a few planets: goodbye Phauxites, goodbye Plathors, goodbye Ppolearitetaurgonains. What do they have against races with the starting letter 'P' again? Oh right, that stupid Pink Panther decided to disguise itself as a Noble, and then declared that they shall be the only race with the begging letter of 'P'. I wonder where that thing went? Last I knew it was eating the corpse of their Empress, and then got sucked into a portal...
Later.
Chaos turned to the multitude of papers on her desk, and then wondered why it was all paper, and white paper at that. It could've been digital, it could've been brown, black, grey, or any other color of the stars, but now she had to stamp Every. Single. Damn. Thing. Individually, and then digitize it!!
How annoying.
Chaos erupted outside the large entrance doors and interrupted her work. She didn't mind though, it gave her an excuse to get up and see what was going on herself, without using her powers. It was a pointless thing anyways as it was just one of the Galaxy Warriors having fallen face-down in the hallway while the rest of the team just went around him.
She opened the doors anyways to look down at the fallen soldier amused and that just caused the other five to laugh harder as Sundrop extracted himself from the floor.
"At least try to make it seem like it was an accident Glamour!" He roared and the person in question just smirked underneath her mask and continued on. Once they were all in Chaos shut the doors and teleported to behind her desk again as Alpha got out several more papers and put them on the middle of the table.
"Here's the summery of the most recent mission." He said and Chaos nodded as she grabbed the set of papers.
"I trust it went well?" She asked and Alpha nodded.
"Sort of...we were able to successfully free the people of the planet, but we weren't able to kill all of the assimilated monarchs, or catch them." Alpha continued, "however we were able to weaken the ship's structure and heavily damage the FTL core." Chaos waved a hand.
"They shouldn't be a problem anyways, all they are going to be doing now with a damaged core is drifting through space for the next few decades trying to just survive, and if they do manage to come back or take over another planet it will be much harder and the war will be over so their states of mind should have gone back to normal."
"They weren't the best of people anyways according to their citizens." Zoë said, "the women were mistreated by all of the guards and the children were abandoned, injured, or starved daily."
"You cannot do anything about it now," Chaos stood and went over to the shelf where a picture of the seven of them standing side by side. All of them had their weapons out, even Chaos did, her Galaxite Dual Gladius Swords pointing down, and crossed at her feet.
They all looked happy, she remembered that day. None of them wanted to take a picture with her because they were all "too new to be doing this with their boss," event though they'd been there with her for over 100 Chaos years (10 Earth Years) and she considered them family. Her children, something that she'd said to them many times during their briefings and something they still refused to accept.
Chaos was starting to wonder where she went wrong: did she not show them that she cared enough? Did they not want her as a mother? Was it simply just something that was too unbelievable? Or was she too hard on them for the 50 years she trained them?
"Whether something happens with those monarchs or not is not your problem anymore," Chaos said, "I need you all to goto Earth for the next few years to prepare everyone there for the war that is surely soon to come."
"Lady—"Chaos gave Alpha a side glare, "Chaos. What about Percy? Or rather what do we do if there's another confrontation?"
"Do not kill him, or try to harm whoever he's close to. Just try to convince him that you and him are on the same side and that you should be working together to save the world." Chaos said and Alpha gaped at her.
"Milady last time we saw Percy as we currently are he immediately attacked us and held Glamour hostage." Silver said, "I don't know what's happened to him, but he's not the person I fought beside before."
"I'm glad to see that you've been working on your Modern Language Silver, but think of it this way: as long as you don't attack him, or show hostility, then he has no reason to attack and you might be able to talk to him first." Chaos said, "Just don't make him angry. That's all you all really need to not do."
"She's right." Glamour said, "From what I know of he doesn't hate us, and as much as he's changed he should still remember the history we've all had with him in the past. Maybe that will help convince him to fight with us and not against us and Order."
"Okay," Alpha said before shuddering, "he was already a danger on the battlefield before. I can't imagine how much more powerful he's gotten now."
"Hey when we go to Earth can we get some sweets before we hit the camps?" Shadow asked, Sundrop nodding his head in agreement with this question, and Alpha smirked and nodded.
"Sure, is there anything you want to get in particular?" He asked and Shadow moved her head from side to side, thinking. Eventually she shook her head and looked at Alpha conflicted.
"I can't decide," she said and everyone chuckled a little.
"That's okay. I guess we'll just have to go everywhere then." Alpha said and Shadow beamed.
Chaos looked at her children with a sad smile, why didn't they accept her as their mother still? She loved all of them, especially moments like these, but they all were reluctant to...why?
Thanks for reading. I am starting to wonder whether I should just post my patreon and see what happens instead of trying to build a back-log of chapters for multiple different books that you can look at and just have tiers and maybe one with discord benefits or something, but I think I'll just try to keep writing chapters for now to build up a steady release rate that I am comfortable with.
Once a week I'll have a chapter out...hopefully
Anyways let me know what you think of this chapter, and I also just learned that i need to either reread the entire PJO series again, or just certain parts because almost all of the characters that I had set up are wrong personality wise, and what/how they fight from what they were in my head...yay -_-
