You're Done
Jungkook's POV-
I run after my mother who is now stood between the two.
She is standing with Yoongi (who has long since stopped his yelling) behind her protectively. He is paying zero attention to the two women and only looking at me with shocked, wide eyes.
My steps slow when I approach and the first thing I do when I'm close enough is reach for his hand. He takes my hand tightly in his while also wrapping his arms around mine tightly as he leans close against my side.
After we spend a moment assessing each other's appearances we turn to my mother and Irene.
I don't know what her plan was, but she starts saying crazy things.
"Irene? I thought you had lunch with your father and Yoojung today?"
The three of us all stare at her in confusion before Irene speaks.
"How do you know her?"
Then my mother turns to us with a sweet smile and asks if we could give the two some privacy.
Huh? Absolutely not! Who knows what Irene's here to do. What she's planning to do next.
I look at my mother, then Irene back and forth trying to gauge if I should just drag my mother into Yoongi's studio with us or if I should send her into the studio with Yoongi and I'll talk to Irene. I don't know where I would start exactly but God fucking knows I have a lot to say, or I-
"Bunny. It's okay."
I look at her face closely and she does seem relaxed. She must somehow have some sort of plan. She always does.
I nod my head but Yoongi stays stood still next to me looking utterly confused.
My mother leans towards him slightly and says, "You'd better go. He has some things to talk to you about. Some plans to make."
Plans? I just wanted to apologize and tell him not to be so irrational with his job. Also that I won't be gone long. That's hardly-
At the words Yoongi's expression brightens up and he spins us towards his studio, getting the door unlocked before he pulls me in by our still tightly held hands.
Once inside, he stops by the door and I walk around him and towards the couch. I sit down and look up to see him still stood by the door.
"I'm sorry about what I said." I begin slowly while still looking up at him. "I realize now that it will be safer for me to go with my mother as well as safer for you and everyone else. I just didn't want to believe it and lashed out."
He moves forward to sit beside me with a hand on mine where it's rested on the couch next to my leg.
"I don't want you to go," his voice chokes slightly, but he gains control back as he finishes the thought, "But it's necessary."
I bring my eyes to his and I can tell he has more to say but I can't resist the urge. I've missed him and I've felt so terrible for what I said. What I knew would hurt him but was said anyway.
I stand up from the couch before stepping between his already wide spread legs and kneel so I am in front of him and we are eye level with each other. He sits up in surprise and whether intentionally or not, slides to the edge of the couch.
I keep my eyes on his as I lean in towards him slowly, mostly wanting to see if he will pull away and when he doesn't I say gently. "I know we have a lot to talk about, but can I please kiss you?"
He nods quickly and closes the distance between us in a kiss full of love and wanting as he brings one hand to the back of my neck to tangle into my hair and the other grasps my bicep tightly.
He pulls me in closer and I do the same with my arm that's wrapped around his waist and my other hand on the back of his neck
Mrs Jeon's POV-
As soon as I saw how casually she was stood as Yoongi screamed at her, there was no doubt in my mind who this was.
This was completely out of the plan. The only time I met her was that day at the apartment and I thought she was just a girl that obviously didn't particularly like my son who was asking if he was okay in an all too fake tone.
The first thing I wanted to do was walk up to her and yank every hair she had out of her head and beat the shit out of the bitch, but I needed to be delicate. For Hyuk.
She has no idea just how much his life rests in her hands and I have to keep it that way while also insuring that she backs the hell off.
So the plan Hyuk and I deemed would be a Plan C or possibly even D, I decide to implement it here and now because she is here and what better way to intimidate her than to confront her in person. The drama of it all is irresistible.
"Irene, what are you doing here? I thought you had lunch with your father and Yoojung today?" I question with feigned concern.
Irene is completely taken back by the name, as she should be. It's not a name she's accustomed to hearing so casually.
"How do you know her?" She says as she sticks her chin out and pulls her shoulders back.
She's trying to show indifference, but with a simple mention of the name, I've already got her on edge.
I turn to the boys behind me.
"Would you two be able to give us some privacy please?"
They both stand there moving their eyes quickly between Irene and myself before I nod with a soft smile.
"Bunny. It's okay."
He spends a few more moments looking over my features to make sure I mean the words before he nods, but Yoongi stays looking at us with narrowed eyes and confusion.
I meet his eyes. "You'd better go. He has some things to talk to you about. Some plans to make."
At that he perks up and spins around to unlock his studio, keeping hold of Bunny's hand to lead him inside.
I am turned back to Irene and long after the door has been shut behind me, we stay with our eyes locked on each other in silence before she repeats her question with a much more humble tone to break the silence.
"How do you know her?"
"I had to get to the root of my problem. Your origin story if you will, and it seemed to have started with your Yoojung. Your mother."
She inhales sharply.
None of the things I found about Irene's family's past was easy to come by. I had to cash in years worth of favors and promise a lot of things in return for what I've found.
I never thought I would be able to deliver this all face to face like this. I find it extremely difficult to not break out into a dance with a confident smile.
"I'll tell you what I know and you can tell me if I'm wrong. Be honest now and don't worry about hurting my pride." I smile as I lean towards her slightly and add, "I am confident everything I've discovered is accurate."
She gulps.
"You thought that your mother was cheating on your father. Your father means the world to you and you couldn't bare the thought, but you had to know if he was about to be hurt. You obsessed over it and convinced yourself it was true.
"Because of this you had your current personal private investigator who seemed to be very good at her job get to work. She had done work for you in finding things to use to blackmail your trainee competitors, so following and getting evidence against your mother should have been easy.
"When you got pictures and videos back that seemingly supported your suspicions you went straight to your father. He was devastated and naturally in denial that the love of his life would do such things and wanted a second pair of eyes to look over the findings. So he put his best guy on the case. Hyuk.
"He found out that everything your P.I. had found was doctored. You thought your girl was good. You trusted her and didn't find or do much looking into finding a reason not to, but she wasn't as good as Hyuk.
"If your father hadn't tasked Hyuk with looking into what you had found, he would have had no choice but to believe what you accused your mother of without a second thought.
"Your relationship with your parents diminished greatly after this. Your father still supports you and just recently started speaking to you on occasion, but your mother has deep rooted feelings of betrayal and spares hardly a thought of you. Despite that your father has been trying to soften her heart. That's why the three of you were to have a short lunch today."
I pause to let her protest or argue that anything I've said is inaccurate, but she doesn't because none of it is, so I continue.
"I applaud you for taking the personal feelings out of it and giving Hyuk jobs even though he aided in the downfall between you and your parents. You looked past it to see the opportunity in hiring him for yourself.
"He was talented with not only his mastered hacking skills but the added benefit of seemingly being able to get into military files and government records.
"Here is where I have a question though. Why didn't you learn from the mistake with your previous investigator before Hyuk? How are you so careful in every way but don't even have your own investigators properly investigated?"
As far as she's been able to find, Hyuk isn't his real name and if her other guy only got as far into his investigation by the way Irene knew to just connect myself to Hyuk and the military, Hyuk says he hasn't gotten far.
She proved this further when she sent the picture with nothing at all about the grander, much more impactful, but also absolutely false scheme of how the three of us are connected.
Hyuk began planting the false reports and stories months ago for a her other guy to find when he knew she was having him investigated. He said he didn't make the false information too hard to find but difficult enough for the guy to feel some sort of accomplishment when anything was found. It was all part of his exit plan.
He started planting and creating little clues here and there in his file that would lead them into thinking he was some sort of fallen angel.
A decorated hero that got overconfident and let his guard down and cost his comrade his life. We thought that the guy was capable enough to find those clues, but apparently not and this is going to be a fantastic way to misdirect her and buy some time.
Hyuk said that he was her most trusted people, but she didn't think anyone could really do as good a job as Hyuk did. We are exploiting that doubt by telling her about a big piece of information (unbeknownst to him that was a lie) he should have found that would have caused her to share her plan more selectively.
"He wouldn't kill him because he owed me a debt for taking my husband from me and you told him your plan with Jungkook. If only you would have known you couldn't trust him with that job offer if you'd done any proper investigative work before."
She has her eyes cast down to the floor as her pupils move rapidly as she goes over everything she's done that she thought was right but has now been called into question.
What I've just said are things, big things, that she is going to think the guy should have found. Now she's questioning his ability and will probably start looking for someone else, which will buy us some more time to seal her fate.
"I don't-"
"I'm sure you don't. It has been a lot for even me to understand."
She stays looking up at me until she looks at me with a surprising faint twinkle of confidence in her eyes as she says.
"You don't really have anything. Not besides the word of-"
I probably shouldn't do this. I always told Taehyung to never show all your cards, and granted this may not me all of them it's enough to let her know where she stands.
Enough to let her know that the beginning of the end has started. That she is a killer and a tyrant that has nowhere to go and nowhere to turn to.
I take a step closer to her as I hold her gaze.
"You tend to do things off the books, but now I have not only read the books but I've made copies."
Her brows crash together before they shoot up to her hairline as she understands the weight of what I've said. She requires everything to be saved. She demands it all to be encrypted and even organized in the appropriate files.
Those are her orders to the investigators she has. She has a digital paper trail... and Hyuk and I have gathered nearly every piece. Nearly...
"I hear you've never had an opponent you couldn't manipulate and force to submit to your will. Now you have. I have General Kim, the Minister of Defense for the Republic of Korea, on my side.
"My guys are better than your guys. So my advice to you is to spend less time going after Hyuk, myself and definitely my son and instead use it to get your affairs in order, because you are done."
