Tell Me
Jungkook's POV-
I know that I upset Yoongi when I asked if he could call Tae, but he is the only person that I know will give me some sort of answer to my questions.
Yoongi will just skip around the truth or change the subject but I know Tae will tell me if I ask.
He was on his way back to our building when Yoongi called him so it didn't take long for him to get here. He immediately went to Yoongi's apartment and we came down to his place together.
I could tell when I wanted to go to Tae's that it upset Yoongi, but I need to talk to Tae alone.
Not that I think Tae would hold back on answering my questions if Yoongi were there, I just don't doubt that Yoongi would try to interrupt or steer away from the topics I tried to bring up with Tae.
I just... I need to know. I need clarification. I want the truth.
We turned off all the lights like we usually do when we hang out at his place and are cuddled up on the couch as we look out at the city.
"We should have kicked Yoongi out of his apartment and sent him down here. His view is much better than mine." Tae pouts.
"No, I like that it's a different perspective." I say as I nuzzle my head further against his shoulder.
"So what did the guy say again? He wanted you to tell him where your mom was?"
"Yes."
He lets out a low hum. "And you said his voice is the one from your dreams?"
"Yes and I know it sounds crazy but-" I rush out expecting to have to explain myself because I know it doesn't make sense. How could it?
"You don't have to explain Koo. I believe you."
I smile at his gentle tone.
He adjusts his arms that are wrapped around me along with his sitting position as he says, "I think we need to find a better position to sit in."
I nod as I lift my head and sit up straight.
He moves over to the end of the couch to lean against the armrest and I move over and lay my head on his thigh.
He starts to rake his fingers through my hair as we both continue to gaze out of the window in silence.
"It hurts my head more when I try to remember things by myself. I still get headaches when memories come on, they don't hurt as bad when I'm reminded about them though. When my mind doesn't have to work so hard to fill in the blanks by itself."
I say knowing he will understand what I mean, which he does.
"Ask your questions then and anything I can answer I will. I wasn't with you all of the time so some things I won't be able to answer, but I will try. You have to promise that if your head starts to hurt too badly you will tell me to stop." He says in a stern voice.
"I promise."
"Okay. Go ahead."
I roll from my side onto my back as I stare up at the ceiling, thinking of what I want to ask first.
"Before the accident, you came over to the apartment and we had a movie night. I think you were there to cheer me up because I was sad..."
"Yes that's right."
"Why was I sad?"
Even though I really don't think he will lie, I don't know if he will tell me everything I want to know. But I hope he will. He is my best option.
"You had a talk with one of our friends, Namjoon, and it brought up some hurt feelings that you hadn't quite gotten over."
"Namjoon? He is my friend with dimples, right?"
He chuckles. "Yes he is! He was one of your best friends."
"Do you have a picture of him?"
"Yes I do, but my phone is over on the kitchen counter. Would you like me to go get it?"
"That's okay. I can see it later." I smile at him before it fades a little.
I sit up fully and turn my body on the couch to face him, crossing my legs under me.
I take a deep breath before I begin. "I remembered something else. or at least part of it, and I think it's important. I was really sad and I think I remember that someone was purposely trying to make me sad."
I move my eyes from where they've been fixed at my hands in my lap up to meet Tae's.
"The other day, when Chanyeol was hurt, Yoongi said that it was his ex that had done it and that she was trying to hurt people that were close to him to get revenge..."
I watch as his eyes narrow a bit and he turns his body as he crosses his legs the same as mine so that he is facing me.
He gulps before he nods with his lips in a tight line signaling me to continue.
"Did she try to hurt me too?"
He is quiet as his eyes search over my face. I see tears start to well up in them so I take one of his hands in both of mine, holding it tightly.
My eyes tear up at the sight as well as I take this as the answer to my question. "You don't have to answer. I understand."
She put me in the hospital. That's why I remember being grabbed by that man. He helped her. They were trying to kill me.
"Is she still after me? I don't think anything has happened since I've gotten out of the hospital has it?"
He brings his hand up to wipe his eyes. "She did, but we stopped her."
My eyes widen at his words. "What did she do?"
"One of the, um... there was a medication that was prescribed to you that shouldn't have been. One of the side effects of it was that it could potentially block memories if someone were to take the medication before a forgotten memory is recalled. Once we found this out you haven't taken it since."
I nod slowly. By now I can feel tingling at the base of my skull, but it's not unbearable yet.
"And since I haven't been taking the medicine I've been remembering things?"
"That seems to be the case. The day after you remembered Yoongi was the last day you took it. It seems like since then you have slowly been recalling more and more things."
Our eyes stay on each other as I begin to play with his fingers gently, as his hand is still in mine.
"I'm so sorry I broke your heart, Tae. I really wish I could take it back."
"I promise, it's ok-"
"Don't say that it's okay, because it's not." I say a sternly as his eyes soften. "I do love you Tae."
I've loved him since our first kiss...
"And you already know you are the only person I've ever loved."
Wait a second. The only person? I look at him with furrowed brows, not understanding why he said this.
"But, what about your girlfriend?"
He breaks into amused laughter.
"Who told you I have a girlfriend?" He smiles.
"Some girls were talking about how lucky Kim Taehyung's famous girlfriend was. Is it true?"
He laughs a little louder. "We are just friends. At first we were dating but it didn't work out. So we're just friends."
I smile along with him, not being able to help the feeling of relief that washes over me.
"What's her name?"
"Seulgi."
"And how did you come to meet a famous person?"
He looks up to the ceiling seemingly in contemplation before looking back at me.
"I met a girl that was friends with her and she introduced us. The girl is a trainee and Seulgi is an artist signed at the same company. They are also roommates. They live here actually."
"Here? As in, in this building?"
He nods. "Yep. They're our neighbors. They even live on this floor."
"What is your friend's name?"
"Y-Yeri." He says slowly, watching my face closely.
My eyebrows furrow when I hear the name. Yeri. Yeri. Why does that sound so-
"Yeri!" I exclaim. "I remember her! She was my friend first right? And then we saw her and you two had to be became friends..." My pupils shake a little as I avert my gaze down to the floor beside us.
"Why did you have to become friends?" I say aloud but more to myself than to Tae.
He speaks up. "Because she was friends with Yoongi's girlfriend and I needed to see if she had information on what she was planning on doing to you."
"Oh yeah! You were a spy!" I smile brightly "You were on a mission... And I gave you the mission."
He scrunches his nose a little as his wide smile shines brightly. "Yes you did!"
"And did you complete it?"
His smile lessens as he answers. "Well, yes and no. I'm kind of still in the middle of it."
"You are?" I gasp in surprise. "Why? Wait, is that why you still have a- that famous girl?"
"Yes. We are still trying to prove that Irene is the one that caused your accident."
The buzzing in my head begins to increase as soon as he says the name. Her name.
"I-Irene. Irene. She's the one who... that's his ex. That's her name." I say as I begin to rub my temple absentmindedly.
"Yes and I think that's all we should talk about for now. You're head is starting to hurt. Let me go get you some medicine."
I nod as he stands up from the couch and walks to the kitchen.
I can hear the sounds of pill bottles getting rummaged through before I hear the cabinet shut, then the fridge open and close a few seconds later. He comes back to the couch with a bottle of water and the pain killers for me to take.
He hands me the pills before taking the lid off the bottle and handing it to me. I take the medicine and he gives me the lid back as I lower the bottle from my lips.
"Can I sleep here for a little while? I don't want to go back up yet."
"Did you two have a fight?" He asks in a concerned tone.
"No I just... I know I hurt his feelings but I want us to have a little time apart before I go up and have to explain why I wanted to talk to you instead of him. I think when I explain it might just hurt his feelings more."
"Why did you want to talk to me, Koo? He knows just as much, possibly even a bit more, than I do." He says as he stretches out his hand to help me off the couch.
"I knew that you would answer my questions. That even if you didn't tell the whole truth you wouldn't lie or change the subject like he does. He treats me like I'm so fragile and I hate it sometimes."
"Koo, you have to try to understand his side. I know how hard it is to see you in pain and not be able to do anything but hold you, but he has had to go through so much more during all of this." He says as he has my hand still in his and we make our way to his room. "Has he told you at all about what happened when you were in the hospital those two months?"
I shake my head. "He hasn't told me anything."
When we make it to his bed, he throws back the blanket and climbs under it as I follow behind to lay beside him before we both roll onto our sides to face each other.
"You should ask him because he can tell you more, but she came back into his life and told him that what happened wasn't an accident. She made him believe that you never loved him and you wanted to get away from him and that's why you tried to- thats why you tried to break your promise to stay with him. To not leave him."
"She did?" I say in complete surprise before I let out a tired yawn. "She really told him that?"
"Yes. He had to pull you from the tub that day. He said he couldn't feel a pulse and you weren't breathing. He had to give you CPR to save you. He rode in the ambulance with you to the hospital and he did not leave your bedside until one day, I don't know how, but she got to him. She wormed her way back into his life then she started filling his head with lies. Lies about you."
"And that's why he was so mad that night he came to the hospital after I woke up. That's why he asked why I killed myself that night. Because she told him that I did."
"Yes. He was so hurt and it took some time along with lots of convincing, but he was finally able to actually listen to what we were saying when we told him what happened wasn't done by you. That you loved him and you wouldn't do that. You wouldn't leave him and especially not like that."
"I wouldn't leave you either." I say absentmindedly as my eyes close as I begin to drift off to sleep. "I love both of you."
Taehyung's POV-
I watch as his eyes flutter closed and listen to his breathing deepen as he falls asleep.
I move a little closer to him as I continue to study his features. My heart begins to ache as the all too familiar feeling of loss builds in my chest.
"I wish you loved me the same way you love him." I say softly before I close my eyes as well.
