One Week
Jungkook's POV-
After he gets the door unlocked and opened my mother walks into the studio.
She looks between the two of us as she says with a mildly smug smile. "Our friend had a lunch date to get to, and I actually have a call to make so I just wanted to let you know that I might be ten or fifteen more minutes, but also," she turns her eyes to meet Yoongi's "I needed to ask if there is a room or somewhere that I can make the call privately? I can't risk any of her little spies listening."
He bites his bottom lip slightly as he looks towards the ground while he thinks before he brings his eyes back up to hers.
"Why don't you stay in here? Kook and I can go to one of smaller studio rooms down the hall."
He says before throwing me a glance to nonverbally ask if that would be okay with me.
I nod. "Yeah, it would probably be best if you are in here. The door locks and the room is sounds proof."
"If it's no trouble, that would be perfect." She smiles gratefully at Yoongi.
"It's fine. No problem at all." He says as he forces a smile.
"Alright." I say as I stand up and walk to where the two are stood by the door. I walk around my mother and out of the door as Yoongi has it held open while my mother trades places with myself to make her way towards the couch.
"I'll call or send one of you a message when I'm done. Unless you'd rather me come and find you if you will be a while? Where will you be?" She asks Yoongi.
"There is a room just two doors down the hall on the right. If you will be ten or so minutes you might be done before us."
She nods. "Okay, how about you just come back whether you are done and I'll just wait here. No rush."
No rush? I thought she was wanting to leave as fast possible. Before I can clarify with her what she means Yoongi has stepped into the hall as well and has his hand stretched out for mine.
I take it in mine and we walk the few doors down the hall to the smaller room. After knocking on the door an confirming it is empty we both step inside. There's only one chair in the room and Yoongi gestures for me to take a seat.
"I don't mind standing." I say softly.
"No, I would prefer to stand. I think it will help me think."
I smile at the statement. "Great, let's think together."
He gives me a quick nod as he begins to pace while I take a seat.
While the quiet settles between us I begin to look around the room. It's familiar. I turn towards the desk the chair was sat at and see the familiar pair of headphones.
Oh! This is the room Tae declared as his studio. I smile lightly to myself as I think back on the day I walked in here and heard the song Namjoon had made. That was such an emotional rollercoaster of a day.
Well, I guess that's been no different than any other day since leaving Busan. So many things have happened... some amazing and some just absolutely horrible.
As the quiet continues I turn back to continue to watch Yoongi walk back and forth until finally he speaks.
"You did say we wouldn't be gone for long. If that really is the case then I should be able to take my more portable equipment with me for any mixing or anything like that I'll need to do. That will be fine."
I have to fight the urge to laugh. So he did hear me say it wouldn't be for long, he is just choosing now to acknowledge it when it will work for him as a point of argument in his favor.
Okay, I'll let it slide. At least he's considering a short term option, but what about the long term?
"That sounds like it would work in a short term scenario. I mean, anywhere we go is bound to have internet if needed and definitely power, but what if it is longer?"
"Than we'll be together. We can start a new life if we have to. Just us." He says, still pacing.
"Yoongi, my mother really doesn't think new identities will be necessary-"
"But even if they are it's okay. I will leave it all behind. I'm prepared to do that."
I sigh as I look up at him. He has finally stopped his walking and he is facing me with the same determined look in his eyes.
He doesn't know what he would have to give up. This is why I never met any of my father or mother's immediate or extended families. They couldn't talk to anyone from their old lives like they normally could.
My father couldn't talk to his parents directly or cousins (who were like siblings to him) unless it was in an extremely complex and secretive way. Even then, meeting in person was impossible.
My mother is an only child and she just had her father and mother, so she was lucky enough to be able to talk to my Grandfather because of his military status, but even their direct communication only happened after my father passed away.
When my father passed away and she had no one else and they were almost certain the people after my father didn't know about the two of us, they bumped the security with our identities and then they were comfortable to talk openly. Even their visits had to stop eventually when it got too dangerous.
If new identities were necessary it would mean our lives were in danger and it was the absolute last option. If that were the case he wouldn't be able to see not only his friends, but his parents and relatives.
He wouldn't be able to perform or ever return to the spotlight and I would even venture to say that any notable career in music would be out of the question.
We would have to leave Seoul and go somewhere neither of us have or would be connected to and start brand new from scratch, always be looking over our shoulder.
We could never fully relax or let our guard down even a little because it could cost us our lives. I don't want that kind of life for myself and I definitely don't want that life for Yoongi and I together as a couple.
He hasn't thought of this because until Tae had relayed Yoongi's questions to my mother and I heard her talk about her experience with it even I hadn't thought of all the conditions that went with the scenario. The same with Gae and he is always thinking of that stuff. Always seeing the bigger picture.
Then I remember hearing my mother say something else when we were talking to Tae earlier at his house before she went to sleep. She told him that she didn't think we would be gone longer than a week. I haven't talked to her about this, but she did say that...
"If I can guarantee to you that I will be back in a week-"
"A week?" He pouts. "You can't possibly-"
"One week" I cut in sternly "Than will you stay where you are and not do any of the things you're planning to do? You'll stay in your apartment, keep coming into the company to work and in the meantime I will talk to my mother.
"I will tell her I promised you I would come back in one week. She needs to take what she has found to my Grandfather and when I come back we can talk, in person, about what we've found out and what the next steps will be."
He is quiet and I can see he is hesitant but I am hopeful that he can see the seriousness and the determination in my expression that can rival his.
He knows I'm just as stubborn as him and he also knows that I've never purposefully broken my word to him once I've given it.
"One week" he finally breathes out. "And then you'll come back and we can talk about what to do next together. What we will do next" he emphasizes.
"Yes. So call your realtor and cancel the appointment because you're not selling your apartments. Well, at least not the one you live in. I couldn't really care less what you do with the other." I tease.
"I will keep it... It's still for my assistant."
I raise my brows. "Are you getting a new assistant?"
He shakes his head. "No, I just need to make up with my current one."
"What a wonderful thing for you to do while I'm away." I say in an attempted cheerful tone, but he scowls in return.
He walks over to me and takes a seat on my lap as he leans his shoulder on my chest and rests his head against mine. By this time his scowl has turned into more of a pout.
"It's too soon to joke about that and try to sound happy. I'm not happy."
"One week Yooni." I whisper before I give his cheek a gentle kiss and pull away. "I promise."
He leans away from me and looks me deep in the eyes. "Don't make promises you can't keep Kook."
"I never have. Especially not when it comes to you."
"One week." He says sternly, but his lips are still in his natural pout that I find so endearing.
"I promise." I smile adoringly at him before leaning in and placing a soft kiss on his lips. He kisses me back immediately and I feel him smile against my lips.
