Let Me Rest

Jungkook's POV-

"Tae? Tae please don't do this! I'm so sorry, please don't leave!" I beg as I follow him from his room back to the front door as he continues to pack his things.

It has been three days since our fight and I finally was able to catch him as he was coming back to his apartment.

He tried to get in and shut the door on me but I got to him in time. It didn't take much of a struggle before he opened the door and let me in. My heart broke when I saw boxes and suitcases filled with his stuff piled up by the door.

I heard him say that he wouldn't be staying here anymore but I didn't think he would find another place so quickly.

"I can't do it anymore Koo. You two are exhausting. I am so tired. I just," he lets out a deep sigh. "I need a break. And I think you and Yoongi do too. A break from me, I mean. Not from each other.

"I would never wish for you to break up no matter what you both may think of me. But hey, stating my feelings and being honest doesn't seem to be enough for either of you so, take it or leave it I guess."

He says before bending down to place the box in his arms by the door with the others.

"I didn't mean to make you feel bad. I'm sorry, I just got jealous that you were giving people attention and that they were giving you attention. I just felt like you were ignoring me."

"Koo, literally all of my attention is on you all the time. You are the only person I ever think about. Any spare moment I have I happily spend with you because you are important to me. If you don't think I give you enough attention, there is literally nothing more I can do."

"I know it is. But Tae-"

"Actually, explain to me what any of what you just said has to do with you thinking I want to steal your boyfriend. I'm having trouble connecting those dots."

"W-well," I stutter as I look down at the ground before taking a deep breath. "I was jealous that you were spending time with him. And everyone loves you so much because you are so easy to love.

"Realizing this made me think about how hard I make Yoongi's life. That maybe he would be better off with someone that was easy to love, but then that got me thinking about how bad I would feel if he did fall for you and that the concept isn't that far fetched."

"Yes, it is far fetched. You may think I am easy to love but your boyfriend is not. When he and I get along it's great but when we disagree, which is about ninety percent of the time, we don't necessarily like each other. He is so good for you. You two are good for each other.

"You don't have to worry about me because I cannot stress enough how uninterested I am in your boyfriend. Romantically speaking. He is still my favorite rapper."

I don't have to worry about him taking Yoongi. That's good, but did I ruin our friendship by even thinking he would? Does he not love me anymore?

"I'm sorry that I hurt you Tae. Do you... still love me?"

He sighs as he comes to stand in front of me and I move my eyes up to meet his.

We stand in silence until he says in a quiet, gentle tone. "Of course I do, but I don't know what you want from me. You don't want to be with me but you want me to keep having those feelings for you."

"Are you a sadist Koo?" He begins to chuckle as his eyes become teary. "I think you and Yoongi might both be with how often you stand by and watch my heart break into millions of little pieces."

He wipes a tear just as it falls onto his cheek before taking in a sharp breath and turning away from me to walk back to his room.

"Tae, I don't know what you want me to say. What do I need to tell you for you to stay? What do you want me to do? I'll do anything to make it up to you. Just please don't leave me." I call down the hall from where I'm stood near the front door.

When I don't hear an answer I start walking down the hall. Just as I am within a few steps of the door he appears with a two large leather bags, one in each hand.

He walks the few steps to me, drops the bags on the ground gently and pulls me into a hug.

"I'm not leaving you Koo. You know that no matter how mad I am I will never not be here for you. But, like I said, we just all need a break. I don't hate you. I kind of hate Yoongi but that's no different than how I usually feel on any given day." He pulls away with his hands on my shoulders as he says, still with tears in his eyes. "I'll talk to you when I'm ready. Just let me rest. Please."

I nod my head quickly as I pull him into another hug and begin to cry on his shoulder.
He holds me for a few minutes until we hear a knock on the door before it opens slowly.

We pull away from each other and walk out of the hall towards the door.

"Tae? Wh- oh. Hi Jungkook, sorry to interrupt." Chanyeol says with an awkward smile as he looks from me to Tae. "I've got my car ready and Suho and Baek are here to help get everything loaded into our cars."

I wipe my tears as I turn to see Tae picking up the two bags again and coming back up the hall. He walks over to the pile of boxes, glances at them then back at the apartment before turning to Chanyeol.

"This is everything. We can start taking stuff down."

Chanyeol raises his brow as he looks from the boxes to Tae. "Really? This is all of it?"

"Yeah. Yoongi paid for the furniture here, I just picked it out. Basically all I have are clothes."

Chanyeol shrugs before Taehyung hands him one of the bags he was holding.

Chanyeol winces a little and then I remember what happened to him. What Irene did to him.

"Can I help you guys take stuff down?"

"That would probably be good." Chanyeol says.

I turn to Tae with a hopeful expression as he nods.

"Thank you." I smile sadly.

........

"Why won't you just tell me!"

He sighs "He doesn't want me to tell you Kookie. I'm sorry."

"I just want to see him."

"That is exactly why he doesn't want me to tell you where he is. He doesn't want to see you yet."

"It's been three weeks Jimin. Three weeks and he won't talk to me! He said he needed time but this is too long. I miss him."

"Yeah, I know how long it's been because I've been caught in the middle of it." He grumbles under his breath.

I lean into him as I wrap my arms around him in a tight hug. "I'm sorry Jiminie."

"You have no idea how badly you both offended him. I would be mad too! Even now, despite him being mad, he is making sacrifices and helping with Irene. Tae will tell Chan the updates then he will give them to Yoongi and he just nods. He doesn't even text Tae himself anymore. He has Chan do it. Why is he being like that?"

"He is too embarrassed to talk to him. He feels bad and so do I." I unlock my arms from around him as I sit up straight again. "But we can't apologize if he won't talk to us."

"Well, I'm sorry if it's been hard on you that Tae isn't ready to talk yet." He says, his annoyance and sarcasm very apparent. "Can we just dance please? That's what I wanted to do today. Not talk about Tae."

I pout before nodding my head.

We are at the company again today, as we have been coming here a few times during the week, to dance and get me out of the apartment.

It's been a lot different not seeing Tae as much. He won't answer my calls or texts. Jimin says he will ask about my health but that's it.

He is still very upset with us and I try to understand but I also am so annoyed because he can't expect us to work through the problem if he won't talk to me.

I can't keep having one sided conversations with his voicemail but I don't know what else to do. All I do know is that I miss him so much. I had just gotten him back and now he won't talk to me.

I don't want to lose another friend. I can't do it again.

I sigh as I start to think about Namjoon again. I've been thinking about him a lot over the last few days.

Not being able to talk to Tae made me think about the first few weeks after I saw Namjoon and Jin.

Even after Namjoon moved back home from Busan we would talk almost everyday. Then just like that, he was gone out of my life. This time it isn't my decision to not talk to my friend, but that time it was.

I wish I would have talked to him sooner. I wish I would have opened the door one of those days when he had come all the way to Busan to my house to see me.

I wish I would have listened to what he had to say and that I got to say what I wanted to say to him sooner.

I continue to think back on my time with Namjoon, comparing the feeling of loss with these weeks without Tae to how it was after I lost him.

I'm staring aimlessly towards the door watching as people walk by every so often.

Suddenly I see a tall, sandy blonde haired man walking very slowly past the door as he is looking down in what looks to be deep concentration.

"Namjoon?" I stand up from where I am sat on the floor before taking large strides to the door.

I peak through the window and once I can get a clearer view I see that it is in fact Namjoon, looking does as he struggles to untangle the chord on a pair of headphones.

Without hesitation I open the door and step out into the hall behind him.

"Hyung?"

His body tenses before he turns around rather slowly to face me. He is stunned at my sudden appearance. So much so that he drops the headphones on the ground with a rather loud thud but keeps his eyes on me.

I can't help but smile at his distraught expression before I take a few steps towards him before bending down to pick up the headphones.

I stand back up as I hold them out for him to take, which he does with a shakey "Thank you."

Suddenly a thought comes to mind. I bring my wrist up to look at my watch to then realize I'm not wearing it.

"Do you know what time it is?" I ask as I feel in my pockets for my phone.

"It's almost six." He says as he glances at his watch.

"Thank you." I smile gently, "Did you know there is supposed to be a meteor shower tonight?"

"I did read something about that..." He says, looking a bit confused.

I rock on my heels a little as I work up the nerve to ask him my question.

"Are you free later?"

"Probably... Do you need something?"

"I'd like you to watch the meteor shower with me."

"I-in the city?"

"No. I've been planning on watching it for a few weeks and we wouldn't be watching it in the city. We would go to an observatory." I smile hopefully at him, "Will you go with me?"

He looks at me as his expression slowly turns from confused to a big smile with his dimples on full display. "Nothing would make me happier."
