Jungkook's POV-

"Ow, fuck." I hiss as my mother sits on the ground with me with a pair of tweezers, trying to carefully remove the glass from my knuckles.

I prepare myself for her scolding at my language, but she says nothing. She continues to be focused on my hand.

"Eomma?"

She takes a shaky breath before she says in a soft voice, "Yes Bunny."

"Is he still on the phone?"

"Yes he is. I believe Taehyungie is talking to him right now."

I look around and see that Tae is huddled in the corner talking on the phone with Chanyeol and Yoongi close by.

"I'd like to hear what he has to say... and then you and I can talk later." I look at her and wait until I know I have her full attention before I continue. "All I ask is that all of my questions be answered."

She nods with glossy eyes. "Of course. Some of your questions may be answered when you hear what he has to say, but I promise, anything he doesn't answer I will."

I look back over in Tae's direction and wave my hand for him to come back over by the couch.

"Okay, I think we're ready." He says into the phone as he walks back towards the couch, looking at each of us sat around the table.

He puts it on speaker before setting in on the table.

"You're back on speaker now. Sorry for the delay."

"That's alright. I don't have all that much time unfortunately so let's pick back up." He takes a breath before he starts again.

"When I saw that Jungkook resembled an old friend of mine I started looking into him not just for Irene but for myself. What I mean by that is I was looking into Jungkook, but more specifically his parents, because they are the ones I wanted to find. From conversations I've had with Taehee it sounds like she has spoken about our background together?"

Their background together. That'll be question number one to ask my mother later.

"Information on her and Jungkook is not easy to find, unless you know what to look for. What names to search and what personal details to look for. I knew what to look for, but I had to make sure that Irene wasn't aware of my searching on the side."

What names to search?

"Irene has two investigators, myself and one other guy who is also admittedly very good, but I'm better. While Irene put both of us up to digging into Jungkook's past, I had to actively work on seeming like I was researching while also burying whatever he might find at the same time. I knew the weight of the situation if we dug a little too much and drew attention by the wrong people to 'Taehee' as she is known now."

Drew attention from the wrong people? As she is known now?

"The other investigator has computer coding and programming skills and he is good at what he does, but as I said, I'm better. And Irene knew this. So when her other guy was making progress and I wasn't, she became suspicious as to why all of the sudden I couldn't get any information when I have had no problems doing so in the past.

"I have known she was having me looked into for a while. Even before what happened to Jungkook. Although that Cease and Desist letter seemed to have come at a bad time, really it did more good than bad.

"It bought me time because it corroborated how difficult even the minimum information I had given her, which was basically nothing of use, was to track down. That this was a more complicated job than any others we'd done."

Question two; cease and desist letter.

"But I underestimated her other guy. I had a suspicion that she had connected me to Taehee but I wasn't able to confirm this until Taehyung came and spoke with Irene. During their talk, Irene asked if he knew of Taehee ever having an affair... I thought I had covered any digital trails that would connect the two of us but somehow he still did."

My heart drops when he says those words. The only thing my mother has ever really openly shared about my father is how much he loved her and she loved him.

Please don't let an affair be one of the secrets.

"There were a lot of rumors and things about the two of us having an affair, and if you looked back at my past you would see a long history with Taehee and her husband, Jihoon as he was known later, and how close we were. It understandably looks suspicious."

As he was known later? He said something like this about my mother earlier, and I thought he just worded it weird but now he says the same thing about my father? What does he mean. This'll be question four.

"We started in the military together and were brothers in arms until the end."

The end? Did my Father die in combat? That can't be true because if that were the case, why wouldn't my mother just tell me that?

There's question five.

"We were extremely close, so I think once Irene got information about how close we were her first thought was that we had been sleeping together. But we weren't and we never did. She was my best friend and then later became the wife of my other best friend.

"When Irene asked Taehyung about that it triggered me to start my escape plan out of Irene's world. Now, before I get into this, what questions do you have?"

This whole time everyone has been staring at either the table where the phone is sat, at each other or aimlessly around the room, but as soon as he asks this it seems as though everyone directs their attention to me.

Of course I have questions. So fucking many, but none of them are for Hyuk.

"You weren't the one that called Kook that day?" Yoongi asks.

"No. They connected me with his mother so they tried to pose as me. I was told by Taehee that they said to him that they were a friend of his mother's, so I'm guessing they thought Jungkook would be more inclined to comply if he thought his mother's friend called. But it wasn't me."

"And how did they get his new number?" Yoongi fires back.

"Like I've said, she has another computer guy. With the right connections and if you know what you're doing, phone numbers aren't too hard to find."

"And the other guy found his medical record?" Yoongi asks skeptically.

Hyuk let's out a long, deep breath.

"Unfortunately, yes. And I have apologized to Taehee but I will to you all as well. I don't know how they got the information to look at the hospital records in Busan but I should have thought to cover that up. I should have prevented it. I should have buried any trail that led there and I missed it. I'm so sorry."

"So, you didn't call Kook that day but the day that my phone was getting blown up was you."

My God, Yoongi is just full of questions.

"Yes. I couldn't get through to Taehyung and I needed to talk to him to get in touch with Taehee. I called you hoping you would get my information to him. I was hoping you would just answer the phone because I couldn't really text and leave a trail that way.

"I wasn't going to leave a voicemail for the same reason. Even after Yeri spoke with you there still was no answer but it worked out in the end I guess. You still got my info to Taehyung."

"You couldn't get through to me? I didn't have any missed call from any unknown numbers." Tae asks with a confused expression.

"Maybe my number was blocked? I'm not sure. All I know is that I couldn't get through and I wasn't going to leave a voicemail. Yeri tried to call you didn't she?"

"Yeah..." Tae says quietly as he stares off, looking deep in thought.

"When was your first job for Irene?" Chanyeol asks.

"It was about seven years ago."

"And you said she asked you to look into some trainees for her?"

"Yes. That's how it started."

"Seven years ago would have been just before I met her. So she had investigators working for her before she used them to fuck with my life?"
Yoongi scoffs in disbelief.

"Yes."

This time Taehyung speaks up. "What else did she use you and all of the other individuals on her private security detail for if it wasn't just for Yoongi?"

"Let me start by reminding you that all she did was give the names of people to look into. She never told me why she wanted to know anything about them, she would just give me the name and told me to give her everything I found.

"It wasn't until after Jungkook that I started to really question what she was doing. That's what made me want to start looking back at the jobs I've done for her. Once I did that I was able to start connecting things.

"The names she would give me weren't always connected to Yoongi, that's true, but they all did have something in common. They were almost all entertainers. Either singers or actors besides the random one or two everyday people occasionally."

"And what did you find when you connected them all?" Tae asks again.

He's quiet for a moment. As if he's hesitant to answer.

"They were all people that were in her way. People that were ahead of her on the path she was on to become an Idol. People she wanted gone."

"So, what? She would bribe or blackmail all of them?" Yoongi asks.

As I move my eyes over to him I can see his leg is bouncing due to his nerves. He is anxious just liked the rest of us. This is all a lot to hear. A lot to take in.

"Mostly yes, but if that didn't work she would take it further."

"As in...?" Jimin asks.

"Jungkook isn't the only one she tried to make disappear, but he is the only one that didn't stay gone."

He didn't need to say much more for us to understand what he meant.

I wasn't the first person she resulted to murdering, but I'm the only one that's survived.

We are all still stunned into silence until Chanyeol asks a question that we all completely disregarded asking.

"You said that you looked back at your jobs and made the connections... how did you look back on the jobs?"

"Like I said, I started an escape plan. I went back to my archives and found every file on all of the jobs she's asked me to do."

"What? What does that mean?" I ask with my brows pulled together tightly.

"I had encrypted folders saved in my computer for the files I would put together for her on people. Dozens upon dozens of them. And when I realized that I had saved them it made me think about how her other hacker probably saved his work too. Although I didn't participate in what happened that day, let me make that very clear, I know who did. So I knew who's computer to hack."

"He has it Bunny." Mrs Jeon speaks up "He has the proof. For all of it."

Hyuk speaks again. "I have the details of the plan to prove that it was premeditated. Proof that she tried to have you killed."
