Are you happy?

Yoongi's POV-

"You're still not used to comforting people are you." Taehyung says from the couch he is laying on while I sit on an armchair opposite him.

"No, but I don't usually get asked for comfort. I don't think my name is the first that comes to mind when someone wants to be comforted." I chuckle.

"That's not true. Koo comes to you for comfort. And you comforted Chanyeol after his trainee contract fell through." He sniffles, still not looking at me as he faces the ceiling.

I narrow my eyes at him as I begin to clarify. "First of all, comforting Kook is little more than simply loving him and spending time with him. You know that just as well as I do. And secondly, Yeol's contract didn't 'fall through.' They fired him."

He turns his head to face me with his still tear stained cheeks. "I think the way I worded it was better. It sounds more delicate and it's something that should be talked about delicately." He says in an emotionless voice.

"Why does it need to be talked about delicately? It's just you and me here." I grumble as I close my eyes and lean my head back against the cushioned backrest.

"Because... I don't know. It's a sad thing that happened that caused him to need to be comforted. We should be nice about it."

I have to stifle a scoff at the comment.

He is feeling bad for something that happened to Yeol years ago while he is in the middle of something that should cause him to feel sorry for himself.

In true Kim Taehyung fashion, he is worrying about his friend above anything he's going through personally.

It's quiet for a minute or two as I try to rest my mind a bit until he asks another question.

"Why did you offer to comfort me?" He asks, voice sounding curious rather than emotionless.

"I didn't really offer. I just thought I could stay with you while-"

"Now you're wording that delicately. You knew staying with me would bring me comfort when you decided to come and knock on the door."

I sigh as I open my eyes and bring my head back down to look over at him, immediately meeting his eyes.

"How is what I said wording that delicately?"

He sits up to face me while using the sleeve of his long sleeve shirt to wipe his cheeks as he says, "You didn't just come out and give a straight answer. Instead you deflected. So, I guess it wasn't delicate wording as much as a deflection. Why aren't you more direct with answering questions?"

"Some would argue that I'm too direct."

"You just did it again! You don't answer questions. This is what made Koo so frustrated when you wouldn't answer his questions. That's why he came to me. He knew I would be straight forward with him."

"That was different. I was worried about him being in pain if he remembered everything too soon. It's not my fault he went to you instead of me." I say shortly.

"You really aren't the first name that comes to mind when people need comfort..." He says under his breath as he lays back on the couch.

"Watch it." I warn.

"Sorry." He mumbles halfheartedly. "I'm just irritable... I really do appreciate you staying with me. Besides, I shouldn't complain. I don't mind your deflections. Especially not today."

He pauses before he turn his head in my direction again with a curious look on his face as he asks, "Do you know why I told him he could go? That I was okay with staying with you while he left?"

"I don't, but I've been wondering." I say as I lean forward in my chair, resting my elbows on my knees.

I have been asking myself this question. Once I got to the room earlier to let Kook know he was wanted by Hyuk and his mother, he had me wait in the hall while he spoke to Taehyung.

It wasn't as long as I thought it would take before he came back, but it was long enough that I felt the need to sit on the ground because I was sick of standing.

When he came back into the hallway he was just as surprised as myself when he said that Taehyung didn't object when Kook brought up leaving and me staying with him until Kook got back.

All he did was ask Kook to sing his song once more, help him find a change of clothes and then he was free to go.

"Why did you?" I ask. "Yeol has offered to sit with you but you've declined. Why did you say no to him but didn't turn me away? You like him a lot more than you like me."

"I do like him." He sniffles. "But I knew that you wouldn't look at me with pity like he and Koo do. You would be gentle with me, but you wouldn't treat me like I was about to shatter into pieces."

"So you thought I wouldn't be as compassionate." I chuckle.

He shakes his head. "I thought you'd be yourself. You instinctively deflect. Not because you don't want to talk but because you don't want to talk about things that make you or the other person you're talking to feel uncomfortable in any way.

"Even if I wanted to talk about what happened, which I really don't, you wouldn't ask me to expound or spend a lot of time talking about it. Koo and Chan, even though they haven't come out and said it directly, are eagerly waiting for me to talk about it so they can listen and be supportive.

"They want me to get everything out instead of holding it in, but I don't want that. I'm not ready for that. You're not like them. It's not about you not being compassionate, but more about your personality in general.

"You can be very gentle and you don't push people. Whether it's subconsciously or not, those two do. I appreciate that about you." He says in a quiet voice while we stare at each other.

"There are some things I appreciate about you ya know. You're not all bad." He smiles softly. "I used to look up to you remember."

I blink a few times in surprise at his comment. When did he look up to me? Since he started being my assistant? And what does he mean used to.

He sits up on the couch before he swings his legs over the edge. "Do you remember when we first met? The night I knocked on your bedroom door when I stayed with Koo?"

I nod. "Yes. Something upset you that day and you didn't want to stay with Jimin, so you asked him if you could sleep over. He was supposed to keep you in his room all night but that didn't happen." I chuckle as I remember the night I'd forgotten about. The night when the interesting, blue haired stranger knocked on my door.

"Yes and I told you I was a fan of yours, but I don't think you understand now or understood then fully to what extent." He pauses to wipe his nose with a tissue from the box on the table before he continues.

"I was introduced to your music after I moved to Daegu in high school and I was immediately captivated. I was a fan immediately and wanted to know anything and everything I could about Agust D. What part of the city you were from, how you started as an artist, your professional successes and failures, all of it.

"By the time I was listening to your music you were already signed with your current agency. I was so mad I didn't know about you when you would do your underground shows in Daegu, but I appreciate your old music as Agust D as well as your work as Suga nonetheless.

"I would try to get tickets to every show of yours I could when you did those few limited Agust D shows. I'd have to lie about my age because most all of your shows are age restricted, but I made sure to be there. I went to your shows as Suga as well when you would perform with Namjoon and Hoseok because I would go with Jin."

He huffs in annoyance before he says, "I would have met you a long time ago if Namjoon or Jin would have just granted my wish one of the many many times I'd asked to meet you before I even moved to Seoul.

"Anyway, fast forward to after I met you and when you had said you weren't going to let Koo keep being your assistant. When you thought it was cliché because you two liked each other or were dating or whatever the hell was going on with the two of you. I bugged Chanyeol incessantly to talk to you about me being your assistant.

"I wanted to be your assistant so badly because I thought that it would be a dream come true. To me you were- you are the best rapper and musician. I am so inspired by your music as well as your story in general of how you became successful.

"I am still a fan of you as an artist. On a personal level though... You're right, I like Chanyeol a lot more than you." He chuckles before he moves his eyes to meet mine.

I smile as I chuckle along with him. "I do remember that. You have been the best assistant I could have asked for. Truly. And now that I think about it, when I told Kook who I was that night because he had still not recognized me after meeting me-"

"What a brat." He scoffs. "I had been trying to get he and Chim to listen to your music and become as big a fan of you as I was for months! I wanted the three of us to be able to go to your shows together and to have them appreciate the music properly.

"So, I apologize that he didn't recognize you the second he saw you. I guess I should have worked harder to make him a sasaeng." He smiles, and the sight is wonderful.

It's not a large one but it's the biggest I've seen from him in the last two days.

I laugh a little louder. "I appreciate that, but the way we met was perfect to me. I wouldn't change a thing. But it does explain why his reaction to finding out I was Suga was much different than when he heard I was Agust D. There was a spark in his eye when he heard me say that name that wasn't as prominent when I told him I was Suga."

We smile at each other while he wipes his red, runny nose again. While I observe him finally seeming to have a little bit of a break from his sadness, my thoughts from yesterday come back into my mind and I begin to feel my heart become heavy again.

"I hope you know how sorry I am Taehyung. For all of this." I gulp. "I had a thought yesterday, about all of the things that have happened, and I haven't been able to shake it."

Even with all of the things we accomplished last night that served as welcome distractions, the thought kept and keeps creeping back into my mind.

"And what was your thought?" He asks, still sitting up on the couch looking at me.

I take a more shaky breath before answering. "If he hadn't met me, none of this would have happened. I know Irene is the perpetrator in all of this, but he wouldn't have had to endure any of this if I hadn't come into his life and brought her with me. This also means that you wouldn't have had to either. And for that I'm-"

"Do you regret meeting him?" He asks.

"Of course not!" I answer quickly. "I would never regret him being in my life. I've never been so happy, but I also have never been so hurt and in pain and I think the same goes for him. I just... He deserves to be happy."

He wipes any hint of emotion from his expression as he says, "You make him happy. Yes, he has been deeply hurt, but I know that he would never trade meeting you for anything. He would never regret that. He's been so sad but with his sad he has also been immeasurably happy."

"You deserve to be happy too Taehyung." I voice as I hold his gaze, hoping he can see and feel the genuineness in my statement.

This is the biggest part of my thoughts that I have had trouble with.

Watching the way Kook took care of him so effortlessly, Taehyung not even needing to verbalize for the most part what he needed Kook to do to help him, was a sight that struck me.

Not because of jealousy but admiration rather. Admiration and guilt. Kook was the only one that could really help him how he needed. They have always been that way with each other.

The first time I met Taehyung was because he needed to be comforted and Kook was there to do it. Kook is the one he turns to when he needs comfort and vice versa.

There have been a few times through all of this when I just am not enough and he has wanted Taehyung to help ease his mind.

At the time when this has happened I was so hurt, but seeing the way Kook has been helping him while we've been here has made me finally realize that it has nothing to do with me. They need each other more than anyone else during their hard times.

I don't know for sure, but I would guess that this is probably the most upset Taehyung has ever been. Despite this, Kook knew exactly what to do to help comfort and calm Taehyung without hesitation because he knows his friend so well.

Taehyung had been inconsolable the whole day but as soon as he was with Kook he became noticeably more comfortable to have his breakdowns and shed his tears then he did with Yeol.

We didn't even realize he had been holding back a full on breakdown from us on the drive up until we saw how he reacted when he saw Kook.

"Have you been happy?" I ask slowly.

I watch his face closely as his eyes tear up again before he lays back on the couch, facing the ceiling, without answering.

He is quiet for a moment after he turns away before his shoulders start to shake and he begins to cry again.

I stand up, walking the distance to the couch he is on to kneel next to him. As soon as I place my hand on his shoulder he sits up and pulls me into a tight hug.

"I haven't- I can't remember the last time I was happy." He says quietly through his tears.

I stand up so I can sit on the couch with him. When I'm sat down he adjusts his position so he can lean against my chest while we keep our arms locked around each other.

He continues to cry and I let my own tears fall along with his as I replay what he has said over and over in my mind. He can't remember the last time he was happy.

He's been excited about our small victories, such as him making his way into Irene's inner circle and us getting information and evidence against her, but he hasn't been genuinely happy for himself since he came to Seoul. Since Kook met me.

He deserves to be happy. I don't know how exactly to help him do that, but I'm going to make sure we come to some sort of resolution.

Jungkook's POV-

When Hi and I come around the corner to the rec room I see Yoongi sitting with Tae cuddled up to his side.

Tae looks like he is crying and Yoongi doesn't look like he currently is, but I can see his eyes are closed and his nose is red as he sniffles. They've been crying together.

The sight warms my heart and I can't help but stand still for a few moments in adoration.

Yoongi doesn't really know how to comfort others, but he is a very good listener. If anyone would be able to get Tae to open up about what he's been feeling it's Yoongi.

Chanyeol and I have been hoping he would do so but we didn't want to push him.

Once I savor the sight of two of the most important people in my life seemingly getting along for once, Hi and myself continue towards the couch to tell them the news.

I don't know if it is going to make them feel better or worse, but they should know nonetheless.
