The Epilogue; pt1

"Marry me."

"No. " Suran fired and the crowd gathered gasped. "Ask me properly." The girl on her knee in front of her looked peeved and mischievous but complied.

"Casar. Cama. Mojado.Mujer." The girl on one knew before Suran, proposed passionately in her questionable Spanish knowledge while the curious people around them giggled nervously at Suran's much awaited reply.

Does she even know what she just said? But then again Shealyn being Shealyn, knew what she was talking about if she knew how to string the words; marry, bed, wet and woman together.

"Si." Suran replied after a dramatic pause, a hand on her heart and the other her cheeks to show that she was flustered as the crowd cheered loudly, some of the Spanish knowing ones laughing so hard they fell on the grass carpeted ground.

As they dispersed, some familiar and unfamiliar hands clapping her on the back accompanied with her name, in mock congratulations. Some knew Suran even if she didn't know them because of her hard earned title as one of the college's skilled students.

Well it was a nice day to get proposed, Suran supposed, the sun was bright and shining, the weather was extremely hot but the laughter in the air seemed to beat it all down as the forgot about their sweaty bodies for a moment and fell prey to mirth. It was nice day to get proposed, that is, if that little piece of shit, Shealyn wasn't already platonically married to her.

It all had started when one of the local girls, a beautiful tall girl with a hijab had come to college with a Spanish dictionary in hand. Shealyn and Kaziah, her bestfriends, had taken an immediate liking to it, the former flipping through the dictionary to get towards the words like 'orgasm' 'blowjob' 'sex' 'wet' and of course 'marriage'.

It had been hilarious to see Kaziah running around the classrooms, trying to hit Shealyn with her books as she yelled scandalous phrases in Spanish. It was hilarious because, Kaziah's burqa and hijab were flying in the air as she ran, reminding Suran of Ninja's with extra-long skirts.

Then Shealyn had found her hiding place or shield behind Suran's tall form and then one thing lead to another and then she was accepting the proposal from the chubby cheeked Indian girl in the college compound right where everyone could see.

If you had told Suran that she would be best friends with an Indian girl and an Arab girl who was too pure for her own good and doing her degree in the middle east, she would've laughed at you.

But right now, it was reality. And Suran was never more grateful.

It had been three years since Suran had left Korea after getting accepted into New York University for majoring in arts and Literature on a full ride scholarship. Of course majoring in two subjects was hard but she loved it, doing what she loved, made it all the all-nighters and stress worthwhile.

She remembered how she had jumped and danced around the entire house for getting a scholarship to a university abroad but had been quite intimidated by the fact that she was going to live alone too. But it was her dream university and Hoseok, Yoongi, Lisa and all the others, especially Jimin, who had pushed her to go, saying teasingly that he didn't want to endure her jokes about his height anymore but she still remembered the way all of their eyes had filled up when it was finally time for her to leave.

When the university had asked if she had any preferable locations where she wanted to study and she had just said she wanted a place with safety, culture and diverse people. Somewhere she could constantly draw inspiration from.

She had expected to be located in New York but had ended up with a place called Dubai.

Of course she had head of it, it was one of the richest cities in the world. But being there and hearing about it were two different things. While Korea's streets were chilly and tolerable hot, the streets of Dubai were intolerably hot in summer. Rain was scarce even during winter and winters were exceptionally cold with no snow.

It might sound bad to most people but she liked it. She liked how the palm trees as frequent as the Lamborghini and Ferraris that cruised the streets and nobody paying attention to it. Dubai was filled with beautiful architect experiments of buildings, tall and slender rising up in the heat oven of the desert. It was all overlooked by the magnificent Burj khalifa.

The university in which she studied, provided her a hostel and by befriending Shealyn, who was an Indian Immigrant and Kaziah who was an Arab local, both born and brought up here, she was able to visit and learn new things about the place everyday. But it wasn't like her home back in Korea, filled with self painted murals; here she couldn't even scratch the walls of the dorm.

Even though Kaziah and Shealyn did have an irreplaceable place in her life, they weren't like shy yet bold Lisa whom she often turned around, with her twin's name in tip of her tongue, whether it be a choice on a book, or her day's problems or a joke, but always, soft warm air greeted her in her place.

Now as she linked arms with her supposedly fiancé/wife , she thought about them, wondering what they were doing right then. It had been a few days since they called, their busy schedules clashing. Would Lisa be preparing for her debut and would Yoongi and Hoseok be working on the realese interview and comeback shows of their newest album.

Probably smooching each other's faces off or doing unmentionable things, Suran thought with a soft laugh instantly catching the attention of her friends who looked at her weirdly.

"What?" she questioned either of them, when she noticed their looks and Shealyn stopped in her tracks, making all of them stop in their place together.

"Honey." Shealyn started cupping her face aggressively, "Please tell me who you killed."

Of all the thing-

"We are here for you baby! We know it must've been tough killing off that art History teacher of yours but I want you to tell me everything honestly so that I ca-" Shealyn rambled off to god knows where while Kaziah laughed like there was no tomorrow at Shealyn's extra and dramatic speech.

"I did not kill anyone." Suran muttered brushing Shealyn's hands off, fighting back a smile.

But Shealyn was having none of it, she instantly wrapped her much shorter frame around Suran's in a tight bear hug.

"I'm here for you." Shealyn mumbled into her chest, her cheek squished against Suran's chest. And this time round, she knew the words went deeper than hypothetical case of murdering. So she gently wrapped her hands and squished her chubby frame with her gangly one and murmured a soft 'Thank You.'

However the moment was shattered when Kaziah yelled "No! she's my wife too!" and fell into the hug right on top of them, her face squished in between both of theirs. They both just laughed and shuffled to make space for the Arab girl and resumed their tight hug.

Suran sighed happily. It wasn't' like holding Lisa into her arms and curling around her whenever she felt sad, or holding the tiny Jungkook who had taken to calling her 'Noona' whenever he was over at their house or whenever he could actually talk to somebody else than make goo goo eyes at Taehyung when all of them gathered.

But that was three years ago and time had flown. Hoseok and Yoongi had debuted, the Ceo having accepted all their conditions which were;

1) To let them take part in producing their own music.

2) Hoseok gets to live with Suran and not at the dorm given by the company. (This worked until Suran had left for Dubai.)

3) Yoongi debutes with Hoseok as a duo.

Funnily enough they didn't include the part where they were dating. But they were found out by the company eventually but they kept under covers from the media. But that hadn't kept them from sneaking dates during their rare days off.

The duo was called Sope.

Which Suran had laughed her ass about for the next few weeks even when Yoongi had explained what it meant. Apparently the s came from suga and ope from JHope, which were their stage names now.

Their career was slowly blooming with the release of the release of solo mixtapes this year. At first, it had been hard, even though they had won rookie awards with their first album, the next had been their downfall. They often worried over it, if anything those late night skype calls with Hoseok and Lisa told her anything. But after their mixtapes, they had been getting more attention, not much especially in Korea but worldwide, for their raw and deep lyrics, infectious and balanced energy on stage.

She was never going to admit, but she had watched every video that they had filmed, every song they had created and even owned a t-shirt from their merchandise.

She did shed a few tears secretly though, when she was asked to co-write a song for their newest album, along with Hoseok and Yoongi. At first she had been scared but Hoseok who was new to music just like she was, encouraged her through it, helping her giving her tips and Yoongi helped too in his own unobtrusive, blunt and silent way. And when they had submitted the final draft to the entertainment, they had immediately liked it.

Soon it was added as a song into their newest album which was released yesterday. Even though, she had heard the final sound of it before it was added as a track, she had not been able to hear the album just as it released with all her assignments and exam preparation getting in the way.

Now as she sat in the warm sunlight, thumbing softly at the necklace that rested prettily, curving over the rise of her collarbones and the silver moon locket just tracing the starting of her cleavage she thought about another thing that had been bothering her.

No not a thing, a person more like. Jimin.

He had become incredibly close during the final years of college. Of course the dance performance which had first strung them together first was a long gone excuse after it was over, rather successfully might she add, yet still Jimin came over, almost all weekends to their house using Hoseok as an excuse even though Hoseok would be busy with Yoongi.

It were weekends like that and schooldays filled with similar subject and nearby lockers that brought them together. While Jimin was one of the people that pushed her toward going to the college, his eyes were surprisingly lined with silver as they had pulled up into that airport.

There, he had pulled her aside, chubby fingers on her forearms as he turned her around and put a necklace onto her neck. Suran had been surprised to say the least when she looked at the shining crescent moon settling right below her throat.

She had turned questioningly and Jimin had just showed the equivalent on his neck, a sun instead of the moon.

"Oh we are wearing couple necklaces now?" she had asked smiling but he had just flushed, no hint of that eye smile on his face, that she had come to adore more than she'd like to admit.

"It's a promise. That I'll meet you in three years. No matter what." Jimin had just murmured solemnly in response and Suran's smile had faltered.

"Don't make promises you cant keep Jimin-ah." She had started, "besides, I'm coming back after five years anyways."

"I know that, but five is bit too much." Jimin had fired back determined. "I'll find a way."

Suran had just watched the boyish determination on the shorter boy's face, chubby cheeks lifting in farewell smile. She let him believe the promise, and somewhere along the way, she let herself believe it too because it was Jimin.

Jimin, who stayed up late talking to her, asking her about her day, taking her taunts and sass and immediately knowing when she was down, just through texts during the last two years. They had grown incredibly close to appoint not a day went by without talking to each other. Maybe except for the last few days.

She didn't know what it was she did but suddenly jimin as not talking to her. And those days spent watching her phone were fruitless annoying and frustrating. She had not known how addicted she was to his presence until she woke up one day to no goodmorning or even a did you miss me?

"Do you ever just look at someone and wonder what is going on in their head?"

Suran gave flat look at Kaziah's teasing and the girl just chuckled.

"Hush kaziah, don't you know she's thinking about her long lost boyfriend?" Shealyn whispered loudly in Kaziah's ear, both of them ending up in a fit of giggles as Suran sent them a scorching look.

"Why are you spacing out so much today?" Shealyn asked, her eyes concerned after she recovered from her laughter.

Jimin is not talking to me.

"Nothing." Suran mumbled, as close as they were she had not spoken about Jimin to them because for Suran, what Jimin and she shared, felt like only something she could cherish and keep. "Just relieved to finally turn in my assignments."

"You sure?" Shealyn asked narrowing her eyes.

Today is the day Jimin promised me that he would come. It will be three years today. And I'm not even talking to him.

"Sure." Suran smiled reassuringly and they took her word for it, knowing that Suran didn't like expressing or sharing her thoughts much.

"Kazi!" Shealyn suddenly yelled out of nowhere as if she remembered something.

"What?" The said girl winced rubbing her ears and Suran echoed the movement chuckling lightly.

"Sope released their album yesterday!" Shealyn exclaimed and chaos ensued. Kaziah screamed and fell to her knees dramatically, wailing in despair at her forgetfulness while Suran watched on amusedly.

Last year, Shealyn and Kaziah too had jumped onto the Foam bandwagon along with what seemed like half the world.

Foam, the official name for Sope fandom. Just the thought of it made her laugh.

Totally cringeworthy.

Suran had teased Hoseok and Yoongi endlessly about it too. But that was a story for another time.

The amount of times Suran had to hush out Hoseok and Yoongi's phone calls around them had become numerous. She had to pretend to be disgusted and indifferent to constant gushing about the two rappers and sometimes even keep herself from correcting information about them.

Ofcourse they knew about Suran's brothers but not their exact selves. Whenever they asked for photos or names, Suran always managed to avoid it skillfully, not wanting to reveal their identities, afraid of their reactions.

The repeated chanting of ohmygod ensued as Kaziah and Shealyn both fumbled for their phones and connected to the university wifi. Suran just passively watched them, restricting herself from jumping in curiosity too.

"Jhope!" Kaziah yelled at the same time as Shealyn yelled, "Suga!"

That's them, Suran resisted saying as she watched in budding amusement.

Suran watched them go through a series of emotions right in front of her. Excitement, disbelief, joy, happiness, more disbelief and through it all, Shealyn's tears.

"They look so good." Shealyn cried as Suran too peeped at the phone's screen.

Suran wrinkled her nose as Hoseok appeared bitibg his lips as he rapped out the lyrics and shrugged moving away. She'd rather see it alone and enjoy the lyrics to its fullest in peace.

"I ship them." Kaziah wailed dramatically, even though her eyes were still attached to the phone.

"I think they are gay." Shealyn whispered and Suran couldn't help but snicker.

Kids, you have no idea.

"I wish they would get married already!" Kaziah yelled again and Suran's silent laughter shook her entire body.

They are getting about it.

Suran finally took out a book to read, knowing that they would be lost for a while in the songs until they had watched the entire thing. But then a hand slammed on her book suddenly, shutting it closed and Suran narrowed her eyes at the hand and slowly formulated a death glare as her gaze travelled up to the body attached to the face.

Kaziah just grinned at her in response and Suran just rolled her eyes.

"What?"

"You. Have. Got. To. See This." Kaziah whisper yelled.

"Look look, this song called so far away is so beautiful." Kaziah said shoving her phone into her hands and Suran's mouth droped open a bit as she realized that was the name of her song.

Her song.

That was it, any thoughts of hearing in peace flew out of her head as she accepted the phone with trembling hands and pressed play, simultaneously inserting the ear buds into her ear.

Then it began.

Lisa's voice singing her words accompanied the lilting piano. Then Yoongi began rapping and she gasped at how perfect it sounded, how passionate. The drum beats in the back ground and Lisa familiar voice gave her goosebumps.

It had been so long since she had heard their voices.

Suddenly a hand was pressing on her chest, stifling all breath, the sheer amount of longingness for their presences making her eyes sting. Unknowingly she hunched forward, as Yoongi rapped those words they had written together during those hectic nights filled with unfiltered thoughts of just music. Lisa's voice was just like she imagined, powerful yet compliant to Yoongi's overlapping rap.

Yoongi, oh Yoongi was beyond anything.

She cupped her mouth as a smile bloomed on her face, only to pull it back to find it wet.

Wow, first time to cry over music.

Then the song was over and Suran was already playing next and the next and the next. It didn't come as a surprise when she heard Hoseok's adlibs and supporting vocals on the back of Agust D and Yoongi's undertone rap in Hoseok's airplane.

But what did come as a surprise was Tony Montana.

When she had not expected Jimin growling nor she had expected Jimin rapping. The thought had never crossed her mind but now that it happened, Jimin seemed perfect for it. And the weird harmony he had with Yoongi made her replay it over and over.

Jimin's high note in the end made her cry harder.

She was just nodding and crying and unintentionally saying 'Jimin, Jimin, Jiminah' over as the song ended not noticing the stares of her bewildered friends.

Just hearing Jimin's voice after what seemed so long, the suppressed feeling of missing all of them just burst out at once during those moments and Suran had no control over it.

"Holy shit you cried." Shealyn whispered with wide eyes.

Suran just chuckled, hiccuping trying to wipe her tears off her face.

"See? I told you they were amazing!" Kaziah yelled waging a finger in her face and the girl just nodded smiling, finally managing to calm herself down.

"Wait and see, I'm going to introduce them to you properly. Just you wait." Shealyn mumbled determinly thumbs flying across her phone screen as she searc hed something up.

I already know everything about them that there is it know. Suran wanted to laughed but the words that came out of Kaziah's mouth made her freeze.

"Suran, why does it say that you produced the 'so far away' in here?"
