Re-booted Chapter 1

It was a bright, warm summer day. The birds sang happily as they watched their young and children played since there was no school until fall. One child in particular lounged in the trees. Her eyes closed and her hands behind her head. She looked about ten but was actually twelve. The wind blew, causing her pure white hair, that was pulled up into a ponytail that spiked in different directions with two groups that were tied in silver ribbon, to swish. Her silver rimmed slightly tinted goggles rested on her head above her army green cap. Her blue jean shorts rested slightly below her knees and looked loose around the legs and worn out, her midday sky blue shirt, which had a silver waning crescent moon on the front, swayed with the wind with her long silver ninja scarf that she tended to step on since it dragged on the ground a little.

The girl also wore blue fingerless biking gloves with silver lining and had her right arm wrapped up in white bandages from fingertip to shoulder blade, her feet were also wrapped from toe tip to about half of her calves since she hated wearing shoes. She sighed and turned her body so she could rest on her side. This caused her hair to move just a little to reveal part of a silver waning crescent moon symbol on her forehead. There were other symbols that were the exact same on her torso, back, tops and palms of her hands, and tops and bottoms of her feet. She did her best to keep these hidden. The girl grumbled and opened her eyes, which were colored blood red yet they shimmered like rubies.

"Nngh..." She muttered as she blocked some sun from her cat like eyes by putting her hand over her face. She blinked and sat up. "... I slept in a little..." She muttered tiredly as she got the time from the sun. "... Oh well... Not like I'm doing anything..." She yawned and stretched her arms, letting an adorable cat like moan escape her lips as her upper body shook slightly.

"... Lets see here. Where's my- there!" She called as she spotted a silver backpack with a blue name tag on it reading "Kari Himura" (car-ri) (He-moo-ruh) in bold black writing. The girl, obviously named Kari, hopped off of the branch she was on and down to another lower branch to grab her bag and a skateboard with a bottom that looked similar to her shirt, only the blue was slightly darker. She smiled and then hopped out of the tree and began to walk on the side walk happily, humming to herself.

"Hey!" Called a voice and a boy pointed to Kari. The tween turned her head slightly and blinked at the much older boy as he called to his friends. She gulped as her eyes widened in fear and shock as the group raced towards her, rocks in their hands aimed at her.

"Time to make like a tree--" Kari's thought began as she ran away, jumping up to put her skateboard under her feet. "--AND LEAF!!!" She landed and sped off, weaving through the crowd of people.

A while later she looked behind her and chuckled to herself, seeing that she was in the clear, she slowed down a little so she could safely reach into her bag to grab a pair of her phones that were black with her symbol on the ears and a blue cord leading to an old black colored MP3 player with gold colored buttons. She flipped through the songs, the headphones around her neck and her left hand in her pocket. She giggled and began to listen to "circus for a psycho by skillet" as she leisurely rode along to the forest part of town, stopping and picking up her board when she was in front of the forest. She then pulled down her headphones and ran in with a big childish smile, towards a cave with a bumpy and jagged wooden sign above saying "Home sweet home!" In neat blue hand writing. The girl looked around her home with a smile.

"Looks like no one messed with my stuff while I was out." She smiled happily and went to a pile of stuff and tossed her bag and MP3 player along with her board and headphones next to it. Kari then sighed and rummaged through her bag and took out a few plastic bags filled with food. This was to be today's lunch and dinner that she got from the local food bank. She sighed and ate lunch happily and quickly, almost chocking on a bite of meat. Something went through her mind, a voice telling her to go outside. She blinked and swallowed the bite in her mouth then peeked out of her cave entrance and looked around.

A boom soon sounded, as if a cannon had fired. Kari's eyes widened in shock at the sudden noise. Kari did not like this, she was getting a very bad feeling. She raced back in, grabbed her bag and her board then raced back into the city to see what was going. She gasped lightly as she saw a giant woman rampaging through the city, dark clouds shrouding the city. She had greek mythology clothing on and snakes for hair. Kari began to quiver at the sight and just stared, noticing many people being turned to stone by a red laser shooting from the woman's fingers. Soon a bright light came with an angry voice.

"MEDUSA!!!" It called out as it stopped in front of her.

"Oh, look at who it is, little Pit come to ruin my fun. But I'm not here for much... I'm... Looking for something very important." Medusa replied. Kari stared up at the two, frozen in place.

"Why are you back for a third time? I've stopped you before!" The bright light, Pit, growled. Even though they were high up in the sky, Kari could hear them as clear as if they were right in front of her. This scared Kari for some reason.

"I'm just here for fun. I want to see what the world looks like now that it's the twenty-first century. I must say, everything is quite different. It'd be a shame if it was all torn down, but I'm not here for that. I'm just bored so I'll be having a little fun now... So, I guess I kinda am going to cause a little destruction..." Medusa looked around then kicked a tall building down with ease. Medusa then spotted Kari, staring up at them and frozen in place. Kari saw this and felt a chill zoom up her spine like a lightning bolt. Medusa raised her index finger and aimed it at her. Kari frowned and inhaled then exhaled, quickly taking in her surroundings. A red beam shot from Medusa's finger and Kari moved out of the way quickly so it would hit the tree behind her.

"Keep calm..." Kari thought as she hid behind a rock. Medusa hissed in anger and Pit smirked, going for Medusa now that her guard was down. Kari felt the ground shake as Medusa stepped towards her. Then she heard Medusa scream and then a woosh. Kari peeked out from the rock to see Pit fly off quickly. Kari watched him, leaning forward and breaking into a run then jump and finally riding on her skateboard. She rode after him quickly, watching where he would land, if he ever did.

"H-hey!!" Kari called out to Pit and he looked down. "M-mind landing for a moment?! I-I wanna talk." Pit seemed to talk with someone before he landed. Kari walked up to him with a smile. "H-hi there." She greeted. "I just wanted to say thank you for the help. If you didn't stop that giant I would have been a pancake, ya know?" Kari let out a nervous giggle then smiled.

"Uh--You're-you're welcome." Pit replied.

"Name's Kari, Kari Himura. Nice to meet you." Kari introduced herself with a grin.

"I'm... In a hurry... I Have to get going, ok." Pit replied then went on his way. Kari blinked then waved at him as he left.

"Kay, I'll be seein ya I guess..." Kari then went back home to rest, she was feeling pretty light headed. She soon forgot the whole thing because of a strange spell.

-----

As Pit flew off he heard humming from Lady Palutena, the goddess of light. She was deep in thought and when Pit returned home he immediately went to her and asked if anything was wrong.

"Oh... N-nothing..." She replied with a sigh. "It's just... That child back in the human realm..." She gulped then shook her head.

"L-lady Palutena?" Pit asked as he tilted his head. Palutena looked at him.

"Hmm?" She blinked. "I'm fine Pit. It's nothing... Just a thought... That's all. I promise." Pit sighed and began to walk off. "But," Pit stopped in his tracks. "I need you to do something for me." Palutena smiled.

"Yes Ma'am?"

"Go to the library and get me a book. It is big and has the stages of the moon on the cover and is dark blue like the night sky with gold lining. It's very thick and heavy so bring help." Palutena ordered and Pit nodded then went on his way and brought two of the strongest Centurion's he knew.

Once he found the book he had his men carry it to Lady Palutena while he led them to her chambers. The two left Pit and Palutena alone once their job was done. Pit stared as Palutena quickly flipped through the pages, her eyes widening with each flip.

"L-l-lady Palutena?" Pit stammered, curious at what was happening. Palutena kept reading, not hearing Pit. "Lady Palutena!" Pit called out, much louder than last time. Palutena looked up and blinked.

"Pit, I'm sending you back. I need you to get that girl, take some Centurion's with you." Palutena ordered and Pit nodded, confused but he did as he was told. They were ready within a few weeks time.

-----

Kari walked around the city, helping clean up the damage that Medusa had caused a while ago, even though everyone thought it to be an earthquake. Kari stretched her arms upward and let out a cat like moan then went back to work.

"Kay, Kari you can go now." Called a man a while later. Kari looked at him and nodded.

"Mm-Kay." She called then waved and began to go home to her cave. As Kari walked home she could not help but feel like she was being watched. This made her put up her guard and watch her surroundings carefully. Her eyes shifting left and right, up and down quickly, watching for any signs of movement.

Kari soon entered her cave and grabbed her things quickly and kept them within reach as she got some food ready for lunch. Kari blinked as she ate her lunch, watching the door with narrow eyes.

"Go, hurry up." Kari heard and then saw three angels appear before her, one buffer than the others, stood in the front. "Miss, please come with us." the buffer of the three said and Kari stood up and took a step back. "We mean you no harm miss. Please." Kari eyed him and gulped then nodded, grabbed her things and slowly went with them, watching them closely as well as her surroundings. "Get on this please." Kari blinked and got on a manila colored platform and sat down cross legged, holding her things close. The three winged beings picked up the platform and flew off, the buff one in the front and the other two in the back. Kari looked around and saw everything getting smaller quickly. Kari then looked dead ahead and widened her eyes at a big floating set of islands. "We are going in for a landing, please be ready." Kari nodded and put her bag on and held onto her skateboard.

Once they landed Kari was led to a big chamber with a lady looking at a screen and waving her staff from one place to another. "-- Thanks a bunch, I'm bringing you back now." She stated then put her staff in the air and then the screen vanished. Kari blinked and tilted her head. The woman smiled at her and walked up. Kari took a step back, her guard up, once the woman took one step too close. "Hello there." The woman greeted happily. Kari gulped and refused to respond. The woman stared at Kari and sighed.

"You ok?" She asked and Kari nodded rapidly.

"Y-yeh..." She replied. The woman smiled kindly.

"Good. Come with me, I need to see something. Oh, I'm Lady Palutena, goddess of light, but you can just call me Palutena." Palutena smiled and walked off, gesturing for Kari to follow. Kari trotted up to Palutena's side.

"I'm Kari. Kari Himura."

"I know, I over heard you thanking Pit for saving you. You'll see him soon enough." Palutena smiled then the two entered a room that was a mainly white.

"Pit?" Kari asked, tilting her head. Palutena looked at her and remembered she had cast a spell so that everyone forgot what had happened so they would not panic much.

"Oh, um, nevermind. It's a long story." Palutena said as she closed the door once they were inside. "Now, put your hand on this wall here." Palutena stated as she walked to the opposite wall. Kari hesitantly walked over and put her right hand on the wall as told. A silver and blue hand print began glowing brightly, outlining her hand. Kari widened her eyes and Palutena smiled. "Thank you, let me show you to your room." Kari looked at Palutena with a shocked expression.

"Wh-what?" She stammered as Palutena walked off. "H-HOLD IT!!" Kari called out in a very loud and annoyed tone. Kari pointed at Palutena and growled. "WHAT IS GOING ON HERE MISS?! I WAS IN MY HOME ENJOYING SOME FISH RAMEN FOR LUNCH THEN YOUR GUYS COME AND TAKE ME HERE THEN YOU HAVE ME PUT MY HAND ON A WALL AND NOW YOU ARE SAYING I CAN STAY HERE?!" Kari snapped. "What's is up?" Kari asked, her hands in her pockets. "I'm nothin special, just a weird human. What do you want with me?"

"You'll find out. Now come on. I'll ignore your rude tone because I see why you are upset." Palutena stated sweetly and Kari looked down.

"I'm not upset... I'm... Frazzled and confused..." Kari muttered then followed Palutena, apologizing for her tone.

Soon the two arrived in front of a door that was blue with a golden handle. Kari looked up at Palutena and she nodded with a motherly smile. Kari looked back at the door and turned the handle to see a room with blue walls and a silver ceiling, a twin sized bed with silver comforters, a white dresser, a big blue rimmed body mirror, a bathroom, a few stuffed animals, books and sketch pads and notebooks, lots of coloring pencils, pencils and erasers, a laptop with a drawing pad and a wireless mouse, and a closet full of clothes. Kari stepped in slowly.

"It took us a while to get this room ready for you. It was not being used for anything so we converted it for you." Palutena stated kindly with a smile as she stepped in and looked at the amazed child. "You like it?" She asked and Kari nodded.

"Y-yeh..." Was all Kari could say and Palutena smiled.

"That's good. Hey, you wanna help me with dinner. It took a while for you to get here so I'm sure it's about time for dinner to be made." Palutena smiled and began to walk out, Kari close behind. The two soon arrived in the kitchen and began to cook, Kari doing her best to keep up. Once that was done everyone ate and then Kari went to bed, wondering what the next would hold.
