Chapter 5

The next day Kari woke up and changed like usual and stepped out to head to the kitchen like always to help Palutena cook breakfast for Pit, herself, the goddess of light and the many centurions that inhabited Skyworld. But something felt off. She did not see very many centurions around, which was not new since they usually are out and about but this time was different. This time it was rather eerie and dark. A thick fog soon covered everything, making it hard to see. Good thing Kari knew the way to the kitchen and many other places like the back of her hand. The strange events frightened Kari a little as she entered the kitchen.

"P-palutena?" Kari gulped and walked around the unlit kitchen. The girl looked for the lights and eventually found a candle and lit it with a match that was right next to it. She looked around and saw nothing of interest so she left with the candle and wondered around. That was when she noticed the time on a big pillar surrounded by a pond of sorts. Kari had to squint her eyes to see what the time was. She groaned and strained her eyes then gulped upon seeing the time. It was one in the afternoon yet it was as dark as midnight! Kari shivered and looked around frantically, running in a random direction. She eventually found an open area that was not very foggy. Kari held up the candle and her pupils constricted in fear as she saw a horrifying scene that could have easily been pulled out of a horror movie. The bodies of many centurion's, Pit and Palutena were scattered around the area and there stood a male figure with a scythe in the center of the corpses. His body was dark making it so Kari was unable to see his face. Kari screamed and jolted in fear as she yelped out at the top of her lungs.

It was just a nightmare and Kari yelped again as she shot up from her bed and quickly glanced around.

"Kari!"

"Kari!!" Pit and Palutena followed by a few centurions barged in to see Kari hugging herself and shivering in fear. Her eyes were glowing and her jaw was clenched tight. Palutena gave a concerned look as she sat on the edge of Kari's bed and rubbed her back. "You have a nightmare?" She asked and Kari nodded slowly. Palutena dismissed everyone and began to comfort Kari.

Once she was calm Kari left her room with Palutena and went to cook breakfast for everyone. When everyone was finished eating Kari and Pit were sent out once again for a mission. The two items were on the move again.

"Pit, you and Kari are heading to an old japanese temple that has been forgotten by time." Palutena informed and Pit blinked.

"So, in other words, ruins?" The angel summed up and Kari sighed with narrowed, annoyed eyes.

"Oh goody. To think I thought we would start seeing civilization once again." She stated with a huff, over hearing pit speak. Pit glanced up at Kari and shrugged.

"So, you gonna tell us the names of the items?" Pit asked and Palutena hummed. "Lady Palutena?" Pit asked and Palutena giggled.

"The sun spear and the lunar bow." Palutena called and Pit's face went from neutral to confused.

"The what now?" He asked and Kari looked behind her shoulder and down at Pit's face for a moment.

"The sun spear and lunar bow. If brought together who know what could happen. So it's best to get one and seal it up as soon as possible." Palutena called, showing the urgency in her voice. Pit nodded with a confident huff as he was sent in for a landing. Kari blinked and looked around the old temple. It showed signs of once being a beautiful palace like building for many people to come and worship a god and/or goddess. It had wooden pillars with carvings that were just swirls going from the bottom to the top and a nice golden paint that was chipping off from the swirls. The pillars themselves were a nice red color that was also peeling. There were vines and plants growing all over the temple meaning that it has been here for a VERY long time. The two stepped in and noticed that the inside of the temple was scorched black in a lot of places. Some paintings were still hanging around the place but they were pure black due to the ashes. There were also crumbled statues and broken pots.

"Someone must've wanted to burn this place to the ground... But whoever it wanted that was stopped..." Kari said in a low tone as she crouched down to look at some pieces of a broken clay pot. Pit sighed and nodded, lowering his wings a little as he looked around. The two soon saw a glowing silver and light blue bow where an altar once stood. It was just hovering there hovering as its glow began to get stronger. The shape of the bow looked just like a waxing crescent moon. Pit raced towards it and went to grab the bow but it vanished and the angel hit his face on the wall. The bow reappeared above Pit and Kari looked at it with a blink. She frowned and held her palms out with wide eyes, as if she had no idea what she was doing. A silver barrier that was still see through surrounded the bow, keeping it in one place. The barrier bubble the hovered to Kari and circled around her, like an orbit. Pit then stood up, rubbed his head then looked to Kari with a shocked expression. He then began to approach her with a small gasp.

Once next to her Pit laid a hand on Kari shoulder and smiled lightly. But in doing this he snapped Kari out of her trance like state. This made the barrier vanish and gave the lunar bow time to warp away. Pit hit his face with his palm and grumbled to himself.

"You ok, Pit?" Kari asked, hearing him grumble in anger. Pit blinked and began to panic as he waved his hands in front of him quickly.

"I-I'm fine! C-come on, let's go." He said quickly and began to leave. Kari blinked and sighed as she left slowly behind the angele. She felt strange around this area. Kari shook off the feeling and began to catch up to Pit. Palutena then brought them back to Skyworld and smiled once she saw them both. Kari did her own thing while Palutena watched over the world. But Pit was not off doing his usual tasks. He was in the library reading the book he brought to Palutena when he first met Kari. What he saw was a game changer. Soon everyone ate and Kari went to bed, having the same feeling she had when at the temple with Pit.
