Chapter 12
unedited
Sophie's face warmed from the evening sun as her knees bent down to allow herself to lean towards the tree on the hill that now holds one of her dearest friends. It was moments like these that Sophie always cherished. It didn't take much to please her, that was one of the aspects that never changed about her when she was first introduced to the elf world. Simple was always better she thought.
The moment didn't last long when she felt a figure block the warmth from returning to her face. It wasn't someone familiar that was for sure. She attempted to turn and swing at the stranger in a dark cloak. Her actions were easily blocked with a forearm to hers and a gag thrown over her mouth. Tears once again welled in her eyes for the second time today. Unbelievable, how could I manage to be so weak? The only question that repeated through her mind as she lost consciousness and awoke in a dark room.
Nope it wasn't the dark cave from her previous captures in a cave. Yeah it did look like Sophie was on Earth once again. The room appeared to be those straight out a the cliche Sci-fi movies that Sophie used to watch with her parents. There were rows and rows of metal shelves that were in dire need of a power washing, on top of those shelves were all sorts of different boxes and cylinder-shaped, gasoline tanks. Sophie doesn't think it gets any more unoriginal than this.
Sophie peered down at the wooden chair and ropes she was tied in. The rope looked rougher than dried out dirt during a heat wave and the chair looked ready to shrivel up and collapse at any moment from holding up all her weight. She spoke too soon, it could get more cliche and it did when she felt another body stirring behind her, she felt the warmth of another who's definitely tied to her as well and Sophie's guessing that the stranger was also sitting on a crappy chair that looks like it's screaming for help from all the weight it's fighting to hold up.
The stranger grunted as Sophie attempted to shift her entire body to see who the stranger was. To her luck, the damn ropes were stronger than they look, however, it did cause the stranger to grunt once again, "Foster, if you don't stop moving I'm going to scream like a little girl."
Wait. Wait a minute. Could it just be Sophie's luck that she found the cocky, tsundere, annoying blond-haired idiot that went missing two days ago? Sophie couldn't get her hopes up but no one else called her adoring nicknames oh wait she meant stupid nicknames like "Foster". It probably is her best friend with mommy and daddy issues. She shuffled around once again to try for a look at her neighbor.
"Alright, you asked for it," he took a big inhale of air.
"Wait! Wait. Keefe!?" screamed Sophie, " is it really you?"
"Um. Yeah, and you just woke me up from my nightmare that doesn't look like it's a nightmare at all," Keefe sighed "we just keep running into each other like this. We need an awesome nickname How about the trouble duo or, no, wait. I got it! The Kidnapping Magnets! Nah, that's kind of tacky how about-"
"Keefe! We had no idea what happened to you after you had disappeared. Everyone just thought you ran away again. I knew something was off when you didn't show up after the first day-"
"Woah woah! You mean to tell me, that no one was going to come out and look for me?"
"I mean your dad filed for a search party but it was going to take a few days for the file to process, then it needed to be approved by the council-"
"By the heavens, so your the only one that came searching for me?"
"Well, I was going to start tomorrow but then I also got taken, again."
"Jeez foster, wait to make a guy feel special. I mean not that I don't appreciate the thought of you about to rescue me but-"
Keefe was cut off by the sound of a large bang the echoed through the entire warehouse. The unpleasant noise made an appearance once again, five seconds after the last. Then anoth- bang.
AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Omg, my dearest readers, I did it! I was finally able to update this damn book after months! I'm sorry for the crumby chapter, I'm currently writing this on my phone in bed with the short-term affects of the Covid vaccine and a sprained index finger. Thank you so much for being so amazingly patient while I went through some things in the past months. I hope you enjoyed. I'll try to update again soon. Also everyone comment and say happy birthday to my mama she deserves some recognition too after raising me and my other monstrosities.
