Chapter 1
The sound of tires screeching to a halt and honking horns echoed through the surrounding area. There was nothing father could do, he spun the wheel around and swerved around the on-coming traffic. It was like a rollercoaster, but this was real life. Panic and fright covered my parents' faces as our car was forced to a stop as it smashed into another car. The force made our little Mazda car flip up onto its hood, fall top first onto the other car, and roll over next to it. The next moments were all a blur to me. I could smell something burning, I could feel the blood dripping down my face. As smoke began to fill our car, a brief flash of white, yellow, and orange shone vividly through the once rear view mirror. I knew my parents knew what was going to happen next. It all happened so quickly.

The next thing I knew, I had woken up in a hospital room. For some reason, I had no pain. It must have been all of the drugs that were keeping the pain away. I looked around the room: the windows were to my right and the door was on the left wall, it had been left open. It was dimly lit and the semi-opaque window blinds were down. Outside, the clouds were covering the sun and all was quiet. It was peaceful, yet disturbing at the same time. In the hallway, I watched various people walking by. Not one had stopped to notice me or that I had awoken. I figured that they were just too busy to notice me.
Everyone is always too busy to even notice my existence.
...
Have you ever felt like no one ever notices you? That you are invisible to society? Well I do. I am Tori Wood. No one ever seems to notice me. It's strange, but then it is normal for me. I have always been that weird girl at school. The one that sits in the back of the classroom, the one that no one really notices. I am an only child at home, but my parents work odd shifts. So I am usually home by myself - which I don't mind. But it would be nice to spend some time with people who love me and who acknowledge my presence.
At least I have my tuxedo cat named Felix. He is the man of the house, making my dad feel like he isn't the only man in a house of two girls. Especially with one being a 16 year old and hormonal teenager, set on destroying the entire universe. <Moohahahaha! - Not Really.>
Felix is probably the only one in the world that truly adores me. He is my best friend and will follow me to the ends of the earth. He has never once ignored me and is always excited to see me when I return home from the death chamber that society calls: "High School".
What would I do without my handsome feline?
