6-Come On
"Concentrate," Master Yoda instructed me as I sat in the training room floor with my eyes closed, "With the force, find me." I heard the whirring of his lightsaber, but then it was gone. He was going to jump out at me from a random direction. I did as he instructed, I used the force to feel my surroundings, to feel where exactly he was coming from.
In a quick motion, I ignited my purple blade and brought it down to my left where I heard it clash with his. I opened my eyes with a smile, "Gotcha." I chuckled as he backed away.
"Again." He nodded.
I groaned, "Come on Master, that's already five times in a row. Have I not proven myself that I'm ready to get back in the field?" I turned my whole body so I was now facing him with my legs crossed, "I know you worry, but I promise I'll be fine."
He narrowed his eyes at me, "Said that last time, you did."
I shrugged, "Okay but this time I mean it. I'll be more careful." I looked to him with pleading eyes, "Please?"
He sighed as he retracted his blade and put it back in his robe, "Hmm Fine."
"Yes!" I jumped to my feet as I clapped.
"Congratulations." I turned to see Master Kenobi in the doorway with a smile.
"Thanks Master Keno-" Anakin stepped from behind, "Oh and you're here too." I scrunched my face in disgust as I looked away.
"For good reason." Obi-Wan walked in the room, "Theres an assignment that I was going to send Anakin and someone else on, but now that I see that you're cleared. Perhaps you could join him instead."
I shook my head, "Absolutely not." I looked to Anakin to see if he was going to agree with me, but he didn't say anything. I don't even think he was paying attention, his gaze was stuck to the necklace I was wearing.
"Good idea that is." Master Yoda spoke up.
I turned to glare at him, "Master." I whined, I don't care if I sounded like a kid. I did not want to go on a mission with Anakin fucking Skywalker. And how could they possibly think that this was a good idea? Especially with how things seem to be going with him lately.
He just shrugged, "A choice, you don't have."
I groaned as I sat on the mat, "Fine, what is this assignment?" I asked as I reached my hand out so my water could come to me. I took a sip as Obi-Wan began talking.
"We need you two to pose as party guests at Senator Clovis's ball that he's hosting on Scipio. Rumor has it, that he's having a secret separatist meeting there, that the ball is just some kind of front. So we need you to find out everything that you can." He smirked and I didn't like the way it looked.
"There's something else isn't there?" I asked with a little reluctance, slightly afraid of what he was going to say.
He nodded, his smile growing wider, "It's a couples ball, you need to pose as a married couple."
"Fuck no!" Anakin and I both protested at this idea.
"Language." Master Yoda lifted his cane and hit me on the shoulder.
"Ow," I mumbled as I rubbed it, "Stop hitting me." I glared at him. He only shook his head in response, "Well why don't you hit him, he said it too." I gestured to Anakin.
"Mine, he is not."
"Oh but he is mine." Obi-Wan lifted his hand and smacked Anakin over the head.
"Ah what the fu-reak" He growled as he gripped his head. I smiled in response.
There was no way either of us were getting out of this so I just sighed in defeat, "When do we have to go?"
"It's not for a few days. You'll be leaving in three, to be exact, so just relax in the meantime." He shrugged and I lightly rolled my eyes as I stood up. How can I relax knowing I'm going to be going on an assignment with him. The thought already makes me want to barf.
I sighed, "Fine," I turned to my Master, "Well this was fun, but I'm going to shower now." I two-finger saluted him and moved past Anakin and Obi-Wan to leave. Not even saying goodbye, I was already frustrated. And I really needed a shower, no doubt I smell like ass after that morning-long training session.
"Hey, wait." I felt a grasp on my wrist and I turned to see Anakin holding onto me. I narrowed my eyes at his hand on me and he quickly let go.
"What?" I asked with a sigh of annoyance.
He pointed to the necklace, "You still have that?"
I nodded, "As you can see, I'm wearing it. So clearly I do." I rolled my eyes at his dumb question.
He didn't seem fazed by my attitude, "Do you still have the one you made me?" He looked from it and to my eyes.
I shook my head, "I put it in the garbage that day. Just like you did with our friendship." I lied to be petty and turned around to walk away, but then I remembered something. I turned back around and put my hand in my pocket. I pulled out the note from last night that he had slipped under my door and handed it to him, "Here."
It took me awhile to know what note meant. I went back over our whole conversation. And I knew the note was from him too, because I know his hand writing. Plus there was a stupid little astromerch drawing on it and he's always talked about wanting one.
But I finally figured it out, he was answering my question about his time at the cantina and if he.. you know.
He narrowed his eyes at it, "Why are you giving it back?"
I looked away from his gaze and sighed, "It's my answer too." I admitted.
He chuckled and I looked back to him, wondering what the hell is so damn funny, "I already know, you're way too innocent. Besides you practically told me the other night."
I snorted, "Well I'm surprised that you haven't, I never expected you to be such a golden boy."
He folded his arms across his chest as he eyed me up and down, "Please I'm no golden boy, it's not like I haven't almost. I just never wanted to go through with it." He shrugged and I felt an annoying sting in my chest.
"And why is that?" I asked curiously, never have I ever heard of a man that would turn someone like that down.
His gaze immediately left mine, "I have my reasons alright. Now go shower, you smell like ass." He rolled his eyes and walked back to the training room.
~*~•~*~
I hopped out of the shower and after getting dressed, I began gently drying my hair with a towel as I walked back into my main room.
"(y/n)." I heard my name in a low whisper. I stopped, slightly startled, before looking around my room. When I saw nothing I sighed, thinking I was just hearing things. It was so low anyway that I'm not ever sure if I really did hear it.
I yawned as I threw my towel across a chair and dropped to my bed. I was exhausted, Master Yoda had me awake before the sun even rose. How that old man has so much energy, is beyond me. My eyes started to close on their own till finally, I felt myself drifting.
"(y/n)." I heard it again, but this time louder. I opened my eyes and sat up in my bed. My light was still on so I could see everything perfectly. Still, there was nothing. I laid back down with a sigh, now I'm hearing voices. I used the excuse that I've been constantly using, I'm tired. It's the only logical reason, right?
I closed my eyes but my ears stayed perked up, almost like I was expecting it to happen again. But when time passed and nothing did, I started to fall asleep. I was half-asleep at this point, so I didn't notice that blanket under me had started moving. I only began to notice when it had felt like someone gripped onto my shoulder.
"What the fuck?" I jumped up and out of the bed, landing roughly on the floor, on my back. I couldn't see the top of my bed anymore, I couldn't see if anyone was there. Not only that, but my light was off. I never turned it off. I know I didn't. I had already felt uneasy and the light was giving me comfort.
I slowly started using my feet to push myself away from the bed, to create distance. I couldn't feel anyone's presence, but I still had a bad feeling. I waved my hand and flicked the light on. Only for it to instantly turn off. Now I'm terrified. My eyes stayed on the bed, the blanket was slightly moving, like someone was gripping it.
I couldn't breath from the fright I was feeling. I called my lightsaber to me and ignited it, the purple blade created a decent glow, that almost lit half of the room. I finally stood up and saw that nothing was there on the bed. I waved my hand again for the light to turn on and what I saw; chilled me to my core. As soon as my bedroom like turned on, it looked like something crawled into the bathroom. And I say something because I don't know what it was. All I saw, was a black shadow.
I was a sorry excuse for a Jedi right now. And I have no shame in admitting that. But I'm getting the fuck out of here. I slowly backed away and opened my door behind me.
I bolted out of my room and smacked right into someone. We both lost balance and I fell on top of him, "(y/n) what the fu-" Anakin stopped speaking when he realized how close our faces were, our lips almost grazed. We just stared awkwardly into each other's eyes for a moment, before I pushed myself off of him and got to my feet.
"I'm sorry," I held my hand out to him and he accepted it as I helped pull him to his feet, "I was-um." I didn't even have any words right now. Not only was I completely freaked out by what just happened in my room, but I also felt uncomfortable at how fast my heart was racing when we were close.
He eyed me with slight concern, "Why are you so pale?"
Instead of responding I looked to my room. We were just standing outside of it, so I know if I really saw anything. It was still in there.
With a shaky voice I finally spoke, "Can you check my room for me?" I asked and he looked confused by my request.
"You know you're a Jedi too rig-"
"Anakin please." I begged, I didn't want a snarky comment right now. I know I'm a Jedi, but I can't explain the fear I felt in that moment. I wasn't even this afraid that day when I thought I was going to die.
He saw how scared I was and nodded in response. He walked to my door and I walked right behind him. The first place my eyes darted to when we entered was the bathroom. I stood at my entrance and I watched him as he searched everywhere. The closet, under my bed, and then the bathroom. There was absolutely nothing in here.
I felt my heart drop. Did I imagine it? No, it seemed so real. Well, real enough to scare the shit out of me. Anakin walked over to me when he was done, "Care to explain why you wanted me to do this?" He asked.
How can I tell him without sounding like an insane person, "I-um, I think I just had a nightmare and it freaked me out more than I thought," I dry laughed, "I'm sorry." I apologized for making him do this for no reason.
To my surprise, he didn't look annoyed at all. Then again, he's always been an expert in nightmares and how they can affect you, "It's fine." He shrugged and was about to leave my room. I looked at the empty space and still didn't feel right.
"Wait." I stopped him and he faced me from the doorway, "Can I stay with you?"
He narrowed his eyes at me, "You want to stay in my room?" He asked in surprise, almost like he thought he was hearing things.
I nodded, "Not on the bed or anything, I'll stay on the floor. I'm just afraid to be alone right now." I admitted, even though it hurt my pride a little bit. But let's be honest, if anyone had to choose between staying alone after what I just saw, real or not, or staying on your enemies floor. No doubt, the floor looks pretty damn good.
He stood there in thought for a moment before sighing, "Fine, come on."
(a/n It's 2 am for me and I'm excited that I finally finished this chapter, I hope it's to your liking. Please let me know your thoughts and goodnight💕)
