38-None Of Them
(y/n)'s POV
I avoided Palpatine's eye contact while I sat anxiously on the red velvet covered chair across from his desk. I had just told him everything, including the sand people; he hasn't said much yet, and I'm afraid to see the disappointment in his eyes.
Because that's what I am now, a disappointment.
"Look at me my dear." His voice came out soft with no hint of judgement. So I slowly glanced up and to my surprise; he was smiling, "Does anyone else know about these, events?"
I nodded leisurely, "Anakin Skywalker knows of the sand people because he was there, but that's it; no one knows about Dooku, not even him." I revealed; looking back down at my hands in which I was nervously rubbing them together.
He stood up from his chair and walked around towards me; he gently placed his hand on my shoulder, "I promise everything will be okay, I'll fix it."
I glanced up at him with furrowed brows, "How are you going to do that?"
His wrinkly smile spread across his lips, "I'm a powerful man my dear, I'm sure I can come up with something to make this unfortunate situation disappear." His hand on my shoulder squeezed a little tighter, "But there's one thing you must promise me if I am going to help you."
I nodded slowly as I wiped the tears from under my eyes. Something deep down was telling me that I shouldn't be listening to this man, that I should run and tell Master Yoda or even Anakin what I did instead and have them help me. But clawing at the surface of my mind was something that was telling me to do the complete opposite, "What is it?"
He dropped down so he was now at my eye level, "Never tell anyone about what you've done," His voice came out more serious than it usually does, "Especially anyone who is a Jedi, you can not trust them (y/n). Not Yoda," He pointed his finger at the ring sitting around my neck, "Not even your fiancé Anakin Skywalker."
I knitted my brows, "How did you-"
He shook his head, "It wasn't very difficult to figure out, he never leaves your side," I saw a slight eye roll that I'm sure was meant to be hidden, does he not like Anakin? "But trust me when I tell you that you can not trust the Jedi, they will never accept you if they learn that it was you who killed an unarmed prisoner. None of them will." His last words stung me more than he will ever know. A part of me thought that at least Anakin wouldn't hate me, but judging by how upset he was in the council chambers, he probably would.
Especially since I promised him I'd never make the same mistake again, but I did it anyway, he'll never look at me the same anymore.
No he wouldn't
He'll never love a murderer
He'll hate you
I quickly gripped my head from the splitting headache that was forming and I silently groaned in pain. The words the voices were telling me only broke my own spirit more.
2nd Person POV
You couldn't see it.
You couldn't see that it was Palpatine manipulating your mind and twisting it to make you believe in him, and no one else. To trust him, and no one else.
You didn't see the smile that spread across his features as you winced in pain from the headache. You didn't see his hand movements where he was currently using the art of force illusions to make you hear what he wanted you to hear.
You were oblivious to the fact that the man in front of you, is the same man who is going to shatter your very mind and soul for his own personal gain.
(y/n)'s POV
I breathed out a sigh of relief when the headache slowly disappeared, "Are you alright my dear?" He asked in a voice that was filled with concern.
I dropped my hand down and glanced up; nodding in the process, "Yeah I've just been having migraines lately." I already told him that I've committed ruthless acts, I don't feel like telling him about the voices and piling insanity on top of murder. He'd probably tell me to go back to the doctors, which I already know won't help me.
I don't think there's anyone who can tell me what's happening to me. Except maybe one, but I killed him..
He hummed quietly before nodding, "So, do I have your word that you'll keep what we've discussed between us only," He raised a brow and I hesitated for a moment, which he noticed and spoke again, "It's for your own good that they remain oblivious, I wouldn't want to get the news of you being thrown in a jail cell." His eyes were filled with worry, "I care too much about you."
I reluctantly nodded with a sad sigh, loathing myself for the hole I dug myself in, "I promise Chancellor, I won't tell anyone else."
Anakin's POV
"So whose bright idea was it to only put cameras in the cells and not the hallways." I groaned in annoyance; we've been at this for hours and have come up with nothing.
Every single Jedi has a fucking alibi, even the padawans. With the way this investigation is going, it's starting to look like no one did it. Which is impossible, someone had to have been there; someone in this Temple is lying.
Obi-Wan huffed, "Take a wild guess on who thought it was a credit saver to only put them in the cells."
I rolled my eyes, "Window." I'm about to throw him out of one at this point.
He clicked his tongue, "You are correct."
Ahsoka sighed from next to us, "If you don't mind Master, I was hoping to get some sleep, it's getting late."
I nodded to my padawan, "That's fine Snips, but we're going to be starting up again tomorrow morning; so get plenty of rest."
"Alright, see you then Skyguy," She began to walk away, but not before giving me a two finger salute, "You too Master Kabob." She called out while turning around so her back was now facing us.
"Kenobi." Obi-Wan corrected her with a hint of annoyance in his tone.
"Whatever." She responded with a yawn before disappearing around a corner.
I chuckled amusedly, "Shes just teasing you, it means she likes you." I nudged his shoulder as we began walking to our own quarters. According to Artoo; she returned there about half an hour ago from the Chancellors office.
He hummed before speaking, "You know, you seem to be adjusting well to having a padawan; I have to say, I'm proud of you." He praised me with a warm smile.
"Thanks Obi-Wan, it was easier to adjust than I expected it to be, but that's mostly because she's such a good kid. I got lucky with how talented she is." I spoke proudly of Ahsoka, other than our first day together, which was a complete mess; everything with her has been smooth sailing.
"That's why I chose her for you." He revealed.
I snapped my head to look at him, "She was your idea?"
He nodded with a prideful smile, "Yoda and I believed it was time for you both to have Padawans. He chose Cal for (y/n) and I chose Ahsoka for you." He shrugged nonchalantly, "I thought you could learn more responsibility and Yoda wanted (y/n) to be less reckless; he's hoping she'll be more careful now that she has a padawan with her."
Yoda you sneaky genius.
We stopped walking when we were outside of my room, "Well I'll give you both some credit, you chose good kids and you're getting exactly what you wished for."
He gave me a devious smile, "We knew we would," He chuckled before patting me on the shoulder, "Goodnight Anakin, I'll see you in the morning."
I nodded before pressing the button for my door to open, "Goodnight Obi-Wan." I stepped into my room while he walked away towards his own.
I let out a sigh of relief while I took off my shoes and tunic, I need a shower and luckily; I can hear it running right now. Nothing is better than having a shower with your fiancé after a long day.
I opened the door to the bathroom and pulled the shower curtain to the side. I furrowed my brows in confusion when I didn't see her there, until I glanced down to see her sitting on the floor; hugging her knees to her chest, "Princess what's wrong?" I asked quickly; dropping down to my knees so I was now eye level with her.
She glanced up at me and smiled softly, "Nothing."
I sighed heavily, there's no way that's the truth, "Baby you know you can tell me anything, please talk to me."
She shook her head as she dropped her gaze down to the bathtub floor, "I told you Anakin, it's nothing."
I bit the inside of my cheek in frustration as I stood up and took the rest of my clothes off to get inside with her. I stepped in the empty space that was behind her and sat down so my front was against her back. I then wrapped one arm around her and hugged her tightly to me while my legs were on either side of her, "I know you're lying." I spoke softly; leaning my forehead against the back of her head while I drew circles on her back with my fingertip, "Please don't lie to me Princess, you have no reason to."
After a few minutes of silence; where the only sound that could be heard was the water hitting against our skin before it swirled down the drain, she finally spoke,"Can I ask you something?" Her voice was hoarse, like she had been crying recently.
I gently moved her hair away and placed it on her shoulder so I could gently kiss the back of her neck, "You can ask me anything princess."
She breathed out a sad sigh, "Is there anything I can do that would ever make you stop loving me?"
I furrowed my brows at her ridiculous question, "No, I'll love you until the day I die, no matter what happens between now and then." I gently rubbed her water covered shoulders.
She chuckled softly as she turned her head to look at me, "Even if it's by my own hand?" She joked with a devilish smirk, doing her best to lighten her own sad mood. During the time where we didn't get along, she used to always tell me that she was going to be the one to, and I quote, 'end my pathetic existence', but in her defense, I said the same type of shit.
I shrugged, "Even then, as long as those beautiful (y/e/c) eyes are the last thing I get to see." I smirked and she let out another chuckle before turning forward; sighing once more, "Why are you asking such a ridiculous question?" I asked as I grabbed the shampoo from next us so I could wash her hair for her.
"I don't know," She leaned her head back as I began to lather shampoo through her scalp, "That feels nice." She hummed in satisfaction.
"Yes, you do know," I grabbed her hair and pulled on it gently so her head was now against my chest; I glanced down at her nervous eyes, "Whatever it is that you're afraid to tell me, don't be." I placed my flesh hand on her cheek.
Her eyes began to water and she nodded, "I ki-Ah!" Her face twisted into one of pain as she closed her eyes and gripped her head.
"Are you okay?" I asked with concern while I began to rub the side of her head to help soothe her migraine.
"I'm sorry I won't," She whispered so low that I almost didn't hear it; like she was talking to herself. She groaned as she dropped her hand down and opened her eyes; glancing back up at me.
"Again, are you okay?" I asked as I moved the wet hair from her face, she's been having random headaches lately and they don't last very long, but they're beginning to concern me. But of course, she refuses to go to a doctor.
"I'ts alright I'm fine, but what I was about to say was that I.. had a dream where you left me," She shrugged as she broke her gaze away from mine, "Because of what I did to the sand people." She raised her hand up and turned the water nozzle to make the water warmer.
I furrowed my brows at her, is that really why? "I already told you that I don't hold that against you, you don't have to worry about me leaving. It was just a dream; I'm never going anywhere."
She let out a heavy sigh as she closed her eyes; she was silently relishing in the warm water that was hitting her bare chest, "I hope so." She whispered.
I gently rubbed her cheek with the back of my hand, "I promise so. I love you too much to ever let you go."
She opened her eyes and sat up before swiftly turning around to face me and coming forward so she was straddling me, "I love you too," She cupped my face and brought her lips to mine; kissing me softly, "And I'll never let you go either, never." She whispered in between kisses and I wrapped my arms around her to hug her tighter.
"I have an idea of what we can do that will cheer up your mood and show you just how much I really love you," I pulled away from the embrace so I could look into her eyes with an excited smile. This is something I've been planning to bring up for some time, and I think now is perfect.
She raised her brow with a mischievous smirk as she placed her hands on my chest, "You wanna have sex?"
I chuckled as I shook my head, "No, I mean yes, but no, that's not what I'm referring to right now," I lifted my hands up and washed some of the soap out of her hair, "I think it's time we start planning the wedding."
