Phoebe woke up earlier the next day, feeling tired and anxious. She was dreading the day's lessons more than she liked to admit and all the lying she had been doing (and would have to continue doing) was starting take a toll on her. She didn't want to lie to the only friends she had made - or anyone else - but it was vital that no one found out about her.

On top of that she had to be careful not to reveal Draco and Neville's identities, which they had spent so many years hiding, she would feel terrible if she came along and accidentally unveiled the character's they had built up for themselves.

She let out a sort of grunt as she rolled to the side, miscalculated the distance to the edge of bed and toppled right onto the floor.

"Ugh." Still on the floor, Phoebe tugged at the curtain that surrounded her bed, Hermione was already up and at the sound of the curtain being moved, looked towards her.

"What are doing on the floor?" Hermione asked, confusion in her voice.

"Oh, I just decided it looked comfy and thought I'd lie on it." The girl answered, still not moving from her position on the floor.

Hermione rolled her eyes and started walking towards the bathroom, "Well get up, breakfast is soon and then it's your first day of lessons." She gave phoebe a playful nudge with her foot as she stepped past.

Phoebe groaned again, shoving away the shoe coming towards her face and rolling over to face her bed. "Don't remind me."

"Oh, stop rolling on the floor! Get up!" Hermione grabbed Phoebe's arm and, with some struggle, pulled the girl to her feet, dragging her to the bathroom.

"Do you need a shower?" She asked (more like demanded) Phoebe.

Phoebe had hardly even shaken her head before Hermione replied. "Good, because you don't have time."

Before she could reply, Hermione had shoved a toothbrush in her hand and was already brushing her own teeth.

"Why are we brushing our teeth before breakfast?" Phoebe complained, but put the brush in her mouth anyway.

Hermione left the bathroom before Phoebe, but not before sending her a glare and saying, quite forcefully, "Get ready."

Putting the toothbrush down, Phoebe splashed water on her face and in her eyes, only feeling slightly more awake. She spent a little around 15 minutes putting on make up and sorting her hair out, which was pretty quick for her. She could hear Hermione muttering to herself in the room next door, no doubt complaining about how long she was taking.

When she emerged from the bathroom Hermione's head snapped up. "Phoebe! You're not even dressed yet, hurry up!"

"I'm going, I'm going." Phoebe rushed over to her trunk and dug around for her . She went behind the curtain and pulled it on quickly, not wanting to anger her friend anymore than she already had. As soon as she drew the curtain back, Hermione had seized her wrist and pulled her out of the dorm room, leaving behind the two other girls in their room.
Without pausing in the common room, Hermione finally slowed down to a reasonable pace somewhere in the corridors.

"What time does breakfast even start?" Phoebe asked when Hermione released her grip on her arm.

"Half seven" Hermione stated, navigating her way expertly through the corridors as Phoebe trailed behind.

"What time does it finish?"

"Nine." Hermione replied, looking a little sheepish.

"Hermione! We have plenty of time left, why are you in such a rush?" Phoebe exclaimed, aware she sounded a little whiny.

"Because it's your first day, you have to be on time!" Hermione defended herself.

Phoebe groaned again, she was doing a lot of that today. "I appreciate that you care Hermione, but did you really have to rush me so much, I thought we were super late!" She finished her sentence in a joking manner, to show her friend that she wasn't really mad.

"Sorry." Hermione smiled, sheepish again.

They reached the great hall and sat down at the table, where Phoebe immediately lunged for the waffles. They had only been sitting there for 5 minutes or so when they were joined by Harry, Ron and the rest of the boys from their dorm.

Phoebe briefly looked up from her delicious food - which was quickly becoming her favourite part of the whole place - to greet them, before turning her attention back to the plate in front of her. None of the boys seemed to mind, but Phoebe could practically feel Hermione rolling her eyes. At the same time Mcgonagall was coming around and handing out timetables.

"Honestly, she's as bad as you Ron." Hermione said and Phoebe, feeling her judging gaze, looked up and grinned cheekily.

"Not just with eating either, you should've seen her this morning."

Phoebe decided to interrupt before Hermione could complain about her anymore. "Ugh, leave me alone 'Mione, it's eight in the morning and I just want to be in bed."

"Alright drama queen, just eat your food." Hermione chuckled.

"I'm not a drama queen." She mumbled as she put another forkful in her mouth.

From somewhere to her left she heard Neville scoff and mutter something under his breath.

She swallowed her mouthful and turned to him. "Would you like to repeat that to my face, Neville?" She asked threateningly.

Neville looked challengingly at her, and said just two simple words; "Mariwether, prep."

Phoebe had gone to Mariwether College Prep just a year before Percy had. She hadn't been very pleased with the council's decision to send her there, and was even less thrilled when she attended her first lessons and found out what they were like. She had only managed a few months before she kicked off on the poor English teacher, when he paired her up with Matt Sloan for a project (something to do with Romeo and Juliet, she couldn't quite remember what, but she wasn't happy about it at the time). She detested Matt Sloan when she was at that school and she still did, he was a bully and she'd had enough of those to immediately not like him. But anyway she had shouted at the English teacher and said some pretty horrible things about both him and Matt, which got her sent to the principle, and because the school was big on peace and love she had been suspended for a week and then would be let back 'after consideration'.

When Percy had gone to Mariwether he heard some people talking about 'the phyco girl who kicked off for no reason', and then when he heard Phoebe talking about it a few years later, he made the connection. After that it didn't take long for everyone to find out and now, occasionally, people liked to tease her about it.

Phoebe gasped, in a very dramatic way - there was no point trying to defend herself now - and stood up from her seat. "Well then." She sent Neville and Hermione a pointed glance, "Since I only get bullied here, I'm going to find some new friends." She then walked off with an audible hmph.

She started heading over to the Hufflepuff table where she could see Jake sitting with his friends. She decided she had better tone down the drama and sass, just a little bit, so she didn't scare them away. The hufflepuff table was next to the Gryffindor table, so she only had to walk a few steps.

"Hey Jake, can I sit here?" She asked politely. The young boy looked slightly in shock, but nodded his head.

She sent a quick smug grin towards the Gryffindor table and took a seat next to him. The conversation Jake and his friends were previously having, had stopped when she first sat down and she realised this was probably going to be awkward. "So how have your first couple of days at Hogwarts been?" She asked Jake, who seemed to be the only one mildly comfortable around her.

The boy grinned his sun filled smile at her and chattered excitedly about how nice Hufflepuff common room was, how great the food was (something they could agree on) and how excited he was to learn to fly on a broom.

Phoebe couldn't help but smile affectionately at him - he was so cute!

"It looks like you've made some friends too." She gestured to the group around them, there were around five, including Jake, who she could see were all friends. "How have you all been finding it?" She asked trying to make herself seem as friendly and not scary as possible.

They weren't quite as keen as Jake but they all still answered her, if a little bit reluctantly. One boy said he had gotten lost quite a few times and Phoebe saw this as a way to keep the conversation going.

"Oh me too," She laughed, "This castle is huge! I'm probably going to find myself on the roof or somewhere while trying to get to lessons." This elicited a few smiles and laughs out of them so she was happy.

"I'm new too, so we can all work this out together, also if anyone gives you any trouble, you just tell me - I'll sort them out for you." She made little boxing motions with her hands.

People were starting get up now, so Phoebe stood as well. "I have..." She glanced at her timetable, "History of magic, so I should probably get going." She gave Jake a squeeze on the shoulder and headed out the door.

She had only taken a few steps before she realised she had no idea where she was going. By now there was a flow of people all heading in the same direction, so Phoebe was forced to go that way as well. Before she could panic a hand grabbed hold of her arm and pulled her along with them.

"This way." She heard Neville's amused voice as he dragged her in the right direction.

I have no idea what I just wrote and I'm not sure if I like it, but here you go :) I feel like you see a lot more of Phoebe's personality in this, feel free to tell me what you think!
