OO7'
Elsie Brydon's teeth were gritted together as she continuously tried to ring Paul Mescal, who was currently in LA, at an award show, with his girlfriend stood next to him. He ignored his phones incessant buzzing
"I'm going to fucking strangle him." She cried out, holding Will's hand as her body was wracked with the pain of another contraction. "Else, fuck him, alright? Focus on this baby, that's what you need to do, fuck him."
Elsie nods, just as she's about to give a big push, she sees a picture of Paul and Gracie, and slams her phone into Will's hand before she grabs the sides of the bed and pushes as hard as she can.
Will looked down at the photo and winced for her.
That night In his hotel room Paul finally checked his phone and when he saw the 17 missed calls from Elsie he panicked slightly and instantly called her back. He pacesd around his room, anxiously awaiting for her to answer, ignoring Gracie, who was fast asleep on the bed
Despite Paul's best efforts, Elsie had gotten Will to turn her phone off, it was her way of getting back at him
"Shit..." He swore under his breath, realizing that she wasn't going to answer, He let out a sigh, before sitting on the edge of the bed, running a hand through his hair, trying to calm himself down, while not making any noise so as to not wake Gracie up
He looked down at Gracie, admiring her face while she slept. He couldn't help but smile at her, before looking back down at his phone, and trying to call Elsie once more in the hope the she picks up.
An hour later, Will had sent Paul a photo of a baby in a hospital bassinet.
Seeing the photo Paul felt his heart sink, tears pricked his eyes. He quickly stood up and shaked Gracie's shoulder. "Gracie, wake up", he pleaded shaking her more. She mumbled for a moment before her eyes slowly open, looking at him in confusion. "What the hell are you waking me up for?"
"Elsie had the baby..." He says as a small smile appears on his face despite the feelings of guilt still present.
Gracie rubbed the sleep from her eyes as she sat up, taking in what he had just told her. She gave him a small smile of her own before speaking "Oh, did they say if it was a girl or a boy?" He took a seat next to her on the edge of the bed, letting out a sigh, before speaking. "They didn't tell me. I just got a picture of the baby. Will sent it over"
Gracie noticed the guilt and sadness, that he was trying to hide, etched across his face. "Hey..." She said as she reached for his hand, gently interlocking their fingers together. He let out another sigh as he looked down at their interlocked hands, looking at them for a moment before speaking.
"I should've been there....He closed his eyes"I shouldn't have come to this stupid premiere run. Pedro didn't."
She squeezed his hand gently in an attempt to offer some form of comfort. She could tell he was really beating himself up about the situation "You couldn't have known that she'd go into labour today."
He nodded slightly, opening his eyes and looking in the direction of his phone that was lying on the bedside table "It still doesn't change the fact I should've been there. This is my child....I should've been there to witness the birth....to support Elsie. I left her on her own."
He glanced at her with a knowing expression, before speaking "I know we aren't dating...but..I'm still the father of her baby....I should've been there."
She let out a sigh, understanding his position, but still feeling a sense of unease and jealousy "I know it's your baby...but she's not your partner...." She muttered quietly, hoping he'd understand where she was coming from.
He could hear the possessiveness in her voice and he knew that what she had said was true "Love...I know she's not my partner." He took her hands in his before speaking "I love you, remember?"
She let out a sigh, looking down at their hands that clung together tightly. His words brought some sort of comfort to her, even if it didn't take her jealous feelings away completely "I know....it's just....I don't like what you having a baby with someone else is going to do to us. To our relationship."
He lifted a hand up, gently cupping her chin to make her look at him. He studied her face, taking in the slight hurt expression on her face, before he sighed.
"It's going to be difficult, I'm not going to deny that....but...we're going to get through this together, okay? And it's not going to have any adverse effect on us, I promise you."
She nodded slowly, her eyes locking with his as she tried to find some sort of comfort. She wanted to believe him, she really did but she was still feeling insecure "I just...I can't help but worry, you know....I don't want us to end up falling apart because she didn't want to get an abortion."
He could hear the anxious tone in her voice and his heart ached slightly. He hated how insecure and anxious the whole situation was making her. It broke his heart slightly, but he pushed down his feelings and tried to remain strong for her
"I'm not going to let that happen....okay? We'll get through this...I just need for you to trust me." He spoke firmly but in a gentle tone.
She bit her lip, worrying it slightly as she absorbed his words. She wanted to believe him, but it was difficult to, when a little nagging doubt was in the back of her mind "I'm trying to....it's just hard when all this has happened so suddenly. We weren't even together very long before you found out about Elsie being pregnant..."
He understood her hesitation, even though he hated to admit it. They had moved so quickly together without even having a proper amount of time to just get to know each other and build their relationship
"I know..." He spoke gently, his hand moving from her chin, so he could cup her cheek, gently brushing his thumb over her soft skin.
"Things are going to be rough for a while...but I promise you...it'll work out in the end." She nodded slowly, enjoying the way his thumb gently caressed her skin, bringing her some comfort. She hoped that he was right, that things would work out in the end and that they'd be able to get through this without their relationship suffering
"It better." She muttered quietly, before leaning her cheek into his hand, trying to find some more comfort. "Part of me wishes you didn't believe her when she told you." He let out a scoff, slightly shaking his head. He knew they wouldn't be in this mess if he hadn't been stupidly reckless.
"If only I had enough of a brain to wear a condom. Then I wouldn't be going through any of this." He said the words before he could stop himself, and he could hear as Gracie let out a huff, obviously not happy with the reminder. She huffed loudly in annoyance, the reminder of his stupidity rubbing her up the wrong way "Well, if you had been a bit more sensible at the start, we wouldn't be going through this now. You'd be here with me, not trying to be a caring dad to someone you aren't even in a relationship with."
He could hear the slight anger and resentment in her voice and he felt his annoyance increase. Why was she getting angry at him? It's wasn't his fault that this had all happened. "Hey, it's not my fault that Elsie didn't want to abort the baby. I can't help that I'm going to raise a child with someone I'm not in a relationship with" He shot back at her.
She couldn't believe she was about to defend Elsie. She let out an annoyed scoff, shaking her head in disbelief "Oh, so it's all Elsie's fault is it? You're taking no responsibility at all for the fact you got her pregnant in the first place?"
He had had enough of her blaming him for every little thing and he snapped back at her "What exactly do you want me to say? That it's all my fault? That I'm an awful person and that I should've been there for Elsie in the delivery room." He lets out a scoff of his own before continuing on "Of course it's my fault that she's pregnant, I know that, but it takes two to make a baby so why are you acting as if she's completely blameless in this situation!"
She rolled her eyes at his words "Oh, don't try and pin any of this on Elsie! You're the one who had a one night stand with her, after getting drunk at that stupid party. You're the one who was selfish and reckless, you're the one who left her to go through labour alone!"
His annoyance only increased more at her words, he was getting increasingly fed up with being the person she was taking out her anger on. "Oh, so you're just going to completely disregard the fact that Elsie also got drunk at the same party and decided it was a good idea to sleep with me?" He snapped back at her, his voice raising slightly with frustration
She rolled her eyes again, her own frustration matching his. "Oh, stop twisting my words! I'm not saying that what Elsie did was right, but the fact of the matter is you're the one who got her pregnant, but you're not the one who's gonna suffer all the
consequences of that, she is!" He let out a huff, shaking his head in annoyance
"Oh, and you think im not gonna suffer any consequences from this. You're wrong. I'm suffering just as much as Elsie is. I'm having to raise a child with someone I'm not even in a relationship with and I am also having to deal with having a girlfriend that's incredibly insecure about the whole situation!" His words hit her hard and she felt a pang of hurt.
"Excuse me for being insecure. I'm sorry that I'm not as unbothered as you are about you having a baby with someone else" She said the words in a sarcastic tone, feeling hurt by his words. He groaned in annoyance, running a hand through his hair.
"Ugh, I didn't mean it like that, and you know it. But seriously, why is it so difficult for you to see that I'm not happy about this either?"
She raised an eyebrow at his question "Oh, I can definitely see that you're not happy about it. I can also see the guilt written all over your face just because you're not there to watch your baby being born. And I'm sorry, but I find it hard to have any sympathy for you given everything that's happened"
His annoyance increased again at her words and he snapped back at her "Oh, forgive me for wanting to be there to witness the birth of my own child! I didn't realise that I was also supposed to put my own feelings about the whole situation to the side just so that your feelings wouldn't get hurt" She huffed loudly at his words, feeling her own hurt and anger increase.
"Well excuse me for having feelings! I guess according to you, I'm not allowed to feel any sort of hurt or insecure about you having a baby with someone else! I'm just meant to be okay and supportive about it!" He couldn't believe her words and he shook his head.
"Oh, for god sake, Gracie! I never said you weren't allowed to be hurt or insecure about the whole situation. I just wish that you would stop taking it out on me and getting annoyed whenever I mention anything about the baby or Elsie" She couldn't help but scoff at his words.
"Oh, I'm sorry, do you want me to just sit here and smile happily whenever you bring up Elsie and the baby? Am I supposed to just act as if Im completely unfazed by it or something" He rolled his eyes at her sarcastic tone.
"Ugh, you're being ridiculous." He stood from the bed and began pacing around the room, trying to calm his annoyance down.
"Of course I don't want you to do that. I'd rather you talk to me about your feelings instead of taking your anger out on me" She let out a huff, her own annoyance with him increasing even more.
"Oh, I'm the one who's being ridiculous? You're the one who's pacing the room like a madman, looking like you're ready to punch a wall in frustration"
He continued to pace the room, his annoyance increasing even more, before he finally spoke "Yes, you're being ridiculous! You're sat there acting as if I'm some sort of horrible, uncaring person just because I feel guilty because I couldn't be there for the birth of my own child!"
She rolled her eyes at his comment, feeling her annoyance reach its peak "Do you know why I'm acting that way?! It's all your fault anyway! If you hadn't got drunk at that stupid party and had a one night stand with Elsie in the first place, then you wouldn't be feeling guilty at all!"
He stopped in his tracks and turned to look at her. He couldn't believe the words that were leaving her mouth "You seriously don't think I know that?! I know that this is all my fault! I'm fully aware that I made a dumb mistake and that's the reason I'm in this situation!" He exclaimed, frustrated with her, She crossed her arms, a look of frustration on her face "Oh, so you're aware that it's all your fault, but you are still putting the blame on me for being a little bit annoyed about the fact that you're about to become a dad to a child that isn't mine?"
He let out a scoff of disbelief, shaking his head "No, I'm not putting the blame on you for being annoyed. I just don't understand why you're getting so mad at me simply over the fact that I felt guilty that I wasn't there for the birth of my child. Do you really have such little sympathy for me to the point where you can't understand why I'd feel that way?"
She let out a huff, rolling her eyes at him again "Oh, and why should I have sympathy for you? You got a girl accidentally pregnant and now have to deal with the consequences. It's hardly as if you've been hit by a bus or something that I need to show you sympathy"
He let out a frustrated scoff at her words, trying his best to keep his temper under control, but it was becoming increasingly challenging "Wow, seriously? Because I haven't been hit by a bus, I don't deserve any sympathy about being in a shitty situation? Are you seriously that heartless?!"
She shrugged nonchalantly, a look of indifference etched across her face*
"Well, why should I give you sympathy? You got that girl pregnant, and now you have to deal with the consequences of your actions. That's hardly something to feel sorry for"
His patience was wearing thin. Her uncaring attitude was really getting to him, and he couldn't bite back his frustration any longer "Oh, I don't know, maybe because I'm your boyfriend for starters! It would be nice if you could have some sort of sympathy or compassion for me instead of acting like an uncaring, cold hearted person"
She let out a scoff, her own annoyance only increasing "Oh, so now you're playing the 'I'm your boyfriend and you should feel bad for me' card. You really are desperate, aren't you? You know you have no right to ask me to feel sorry for the fact you're going to become a dad because of your own stupidity"
He let out a frustrated groan, his own patience completely gone at this point "Jesus Christ, Gracie! Can't you just cut me some slack for one minute? Is it really too much to ask of you to feel even a little bit of sympathy for me over this shitty situation?!"
She rolled her eyes, not at all impressed by his frustrated outburst "Oh, you're really trying to play the victim here, aren't you? You're seriously asking me for sympathy because something that is entirely your fault happened to you. You have plenty of sympathy when it comes to Elsie but you've given none to me"
Elsie's face time request rang through, But Gracie reached the phone before Paul "Gracie, give me my phone" He said firmly, holding out his hand for her to pass the device over.
She shook her head defiantly, tightening her grip on the phone "No. I don't want to listen to you talk to her" He was growing increasingly frustrated with her, and the fact that she was now refusing to let him answer his own phone was only making things worse.
"It's my damn phone and I'll answer it if I want to. Give it here" He snapped, hand still held out. She let out an annoyed huff, her eyes flashing challengingly.
"No. You're not answering it. I don't want to sit here and hear you talking to her and your fucking kid all lovingly" He let out an annoyed scoff at her stubbornness, losing his temper slightly.
"You are being ridiculous! It's a face time call, not a date. Why can't you just grow up for one minute and hand me my phone like an adult?" She rolled her eyes again, feeling her annoyance only increase.
"I don't care if it's a simple facetime! I'm going to end up listening to her cry and whine about everything, and you'll just be being all supportive and caring, like the good daddy you'll be. I don't want to sit here and listen to it"
He groaned, growing even more frustrated at her words. He couldn't believe how insecure and jealous she was acting over a damn phone call "Jesus Christ, Gracie, you need to cut this jealousy bullshit out. I'm not allowed to speak to her now or you'll get annoyed?"
Paul's phone flew across the floor, smashing, His eyes widened at the sight. "Seriously? You just threw my phone across the damn room?!" She just shrugged nonchalantly, not caring about the fact she'd possibly just broken his phone.
"Oops, my hand slipped"
He let out a frustrated scoff, a look of disbelief on his face "Bullshit your hand slipped! You can be such a child when you want to be, you know that?" She rolled her eyes again, her indifference to the situation clear on her face "I bet you looove that"
He let out a scoff, shaking his head. Her immature response only adding to his mounting annoyance "What? That you can be a childish brat sometimes? You're damn right I loooove that"
She smirked slightly, clearly enjoying his annoyance "Yeah, I bet you love it when I'm a brat, don't you? You love when I act immature. You're obsessed with me"
He couldn't believe his ears at her words. Was she seriously trying to get one over him at a time like this? "I'm obsessed with you? You really want to go down that road right now?"
She nodded her head defiantly, still smirking "Oh yeah. I do. Because you know it's true. You're absolutely obsessed with me. You always have been"
He let out a scoff, shaking his head in disbelief "You are unbelievable. You are really making this whole situation about yourself and your bullshit insecurity right now. Is that all you care about?"
She smirked again, finding his annoyance very amusing to watch "It's only a little bit about insecurities. I know I'm hotter than that girl you're having a baby with, and that's all that really matters to me"
He couldn't help but laugh at her comment "Oh my god, are you serious? You're actually bragging about how you're hotter than the mother of my child? Is that what's important to you right now? Jesus Christ"
She narrowed her eyes defiantly, her smirk widening "Yeah, I am. And you know I'm right. Or do you think she's hotter than me or something?"
He rolled his eyes, scoffing loudly at her words "Oh, give me a break. Is that really all you care about? Some sort of weird competition with Elsie to see which one of you is the most good looking or something? Go to fucking sleep Gracie."
She just shook her head defiantly, not at all bothered by his annoyance "No, Im not sleeping until you admit that you think I'm hotter than her"
He rolled his eyes, frustration and annoyance etched across his face "Are you seriously being this petty right now? What will you do if I don't admit that you're hotter than her?"
She smirked again, an idea popping into her head "If you don't admit it then I won't let you touch me again, since you find her so much more attractive than me and all"
He let out another scoff, disbelief still present on his face* "Are you seriously trying to manipulate me into saying you're hotter than her by withholding sex from me?"
She nodded defiantly, not at all fazed by his annoyed tone. "Yeah. That's exactly what I'm doing. And it'll work, so you better just admit the truth and make it easy for both of us" Paul ignored her, laid back in bed and turned away from her.
She narrowed her eyes in frustration, seeing he was ignoring her. "Where do you think you're going? This conversation isn't over just yet. Turn around and look at me"
He let out a frustrated scoff, turning back to face her again "I am done with this fucking conversation"
She narrowed her eyes again, still demanding his attention "You know, this would be a lot easier if you gave into my demands. Then we'd be done with the conversation already"
He crossed his arms, irritation written all over his face "I am not giving into your stupid demands, Gracie. Now fuck off and let me sleep"
She pouted stubbornly in response "No."
Paul opened his drawer and took a melatonin gummy his agent had given him for flights, Gracie watched in surprise as he put the gummy straight into his mouth* "Are you seriously taking that right now?"
He looked at her, a look of indifference on his face* "Yeah, I am actually. I'm done with this stupid conversation so I'm taking it to go to sleep, can't distract myself with my phone anymore can I?"
She opened and closed her mouth, trying to think of something to say in response "Yeah, not after I dropped it out of annoyance, no" She said, her tone laced with bitterness and anger He rolled his eyes at her comment "Yeah, thanks for that. That phone cost me quite a lot of money and now it's smashed because you're acting like a child again"Within seconds he was fast asleep.
