Chapter 7

Kit's POV

I woke up late for work as usual. I did all my morning routine in a big hurry. I did not even try to do a flashback of the previous evening's disastrous events as I stayed under the strong steady spray of the shower. As usual I had to forego the breakfast that had been laid out for me. I would have to ask my secretary to bring me some grilled cheese sandwich and a glass of orange juice again, I thought as I ran towards my limousine. My trusted driver was already holding the door open for me as soon as he saw me walk out the front door.

My secretary walked into my office as soon as I got in. She set down several folders that contained documents needing my signatures.

"I hate to bother you, Lia," I said with an apologetic smile, "but....."

"But could I bring you a grilled cheese sandwich and a glass of orange juice?" she finished for me.

"You should put up a tent outside the building that says 'Lia's fortune telling services" I said, "you have such good psychic abilities."

She made a face as she turned towards the door to take care of my request.

I started going through the documents that Lia had prepared, trying my best to ward off the images of last night's intimate episode with Mingkwan.

I knew that I was working more slowly than usual because of the extra effort I had to make to focus on the important business documents on my desk.

Lia gave me a curious look as she set down the tray containing my grilled cheese sandwich and glass of orange juice. The reason for the curious look was because she was not used to seeing me work slowly. She had assumed that by the time she got back the documents would be on her desk all signed and ready to send out.

Thankfully all she said was, "Just buzz for me when they're ready."

"I will, thanks Lia," I said.

She had almost reached the door when I said, "Oh, and Lia..."

"Yes, sir?" she said, walking back to my desk.

"Would you please write out a check for me to sign?" I asked, handing her a piece of paper on which I had written the details for the check.

"Certainly, sir," she said, taking the paper from me and reading what was on it as she walked towards the door once more.

She stopped just before opening the door.

My heart skipped a beat. I could always refuse to answer any questions she might have, but still I did not want her to ask any questions but to just carry out her task.

She really must be psychic because she went ahead and left my office without asking any questions.

I made quick work of the sandwich and had just finished drinking the orange juice when she came back with the folder that contained the check for me to sign.

The check was made payable to Mingkwan Daichapanya in the amount of Thirty Thousand bahts.

After I signed the check, I placed it back inside the folder.

"Would you please instruct our mail courier to hand deliver it to the offices of Mr. Kirakorn and to make sure to have Mr. Kirakorn sign the acknowledgment receipt?" I asked Lia as I handed the folder back to her.

"Consider it done, sir," said Lia as she walked towards the door.

She had her hand on the door knob but did not open the door. She turned her head to look at me, her mouth already open but before she could say a word, I said, "I refuse to answer any questions you might have."

"I just wanted to know if you would like to borrow my concealer stick," she asked, her eyes fixed on the side of my neck.

My hand flew to the area she was looking at. Had Ming left a hickey mark on me?
