Chapter Twenty Three- Broken Home
Niall sat out on the balcony upstairs with George in his hands and their suitcases beside them. He had enough of everything that had happened; Harry made it clear that he want nothing to do with Niall anymore. He could hear the curly haired lad stumbling around in their room getting ready for work, and other times, he would’ve been with him, trying to help him to get to his work on time but today was different, and this was how it was going to be. Once he spotted Harry’s car leave the driveway, Niall stood up and took both George and their suitcases down stairs. He was sniffling, and George looked up curious eyes as if he knows that his father is sad. The infant whimpered and Niall wiped at his tears, getting the baby in his arms. George calmed down almost immediately and the blonde smiled slightly, placing the baby in the baby trolley.
Niall walked out of the house after leaving the letter for Harry and placing his keys under the mat knowing Harry will find it when he came back. The next thing he need to do is to find a place to stay; and that’s exactly how he ended up downtown, looking for a place stay in for sometimes before he was able to get back on his feet and get his own place. It was kind of hard walking in the gloomy and cold weather for hours on end but soon, Niall found a place he could stay. The place was a bit old and rugged, but he figures that this is the only place he had enough money to pay the rent for, and the owner was kind. Now, if you are wondering why Niall hasn’t went back home; it’s because he didn’t want to. He somehow knew that his mom was going to try to send him back to Harry and a part of him just didn’t want to go home to face them.
Niall breathe out a sigh he once he place his stuff in the wardrobe, the apartment was small but comfy and enough for Niall and George to fit in well and he wasn’t complaining. Niall looked over at George who was playing around with the white bed sheets on the premade bed. Niall sighed as he walked towards his baby, “Are you hungry, Kiddo?” He asked and George blinked up at him before bursting into a bright smile, legs kicking out happily as the thought of eating cheers him up. Niall laughed, picking up George and placing him on the table as he got some baby food ready for him.
“Let’s get this over with and then you and I will have to go grocery shopping.” Niall smiled as he looked down at the drinking baby, “I’ll protect you, babe. Even if I’m alone right now; I’ll always make sure you grow in a kind, loveable young man that I know you’ll be.”
5 years later. . .
“Daddy, Wake up!” The brunette man groaned in his sleep rolling over as George jumped on his chest. His blue eyes opened, trying to adjust to the sunlight making its way through the curtains, “Ow, ow, George, my chest hair, you’re pulling my chest hair.” Niall sighed as he rubbed at his chest, glad that George stopped before he lost all the chest hair that he treasures too much. “Daddy I want breakfast!” The kid groaned and Niall laughed, carrying the baby in his arms; “Then we shall have breakfast!” Niall yelled, making a beeline towards the kitchen and placing the boy on the counter. “So Mister George Malik, would you like toast and eggs or eggs and toast?” Niall joked, pretending to be a posh waiter (only the fact that he didn’t have any clothes on and is standing in the kitchen in just boxers.) “I want eggs and toasts!” The child cheered, jumping on the counter as he watched his father nod and went out to take a pan out for frying the eggs.
After breakfast, Niall got George bathed before he took a short shower to get ready for the day. It was 7:30 by the time George was dressed and sitting on the bed in his red shirt and superman jeans. “Daddy, can I have ice cream when you come back from work today?” The blue eyed baby asked and Niall nodded, “Of course, babe. Anything for daddy’s little boy.” He ruffled George’s hair, causing the child to groan because Niall ‘ruined his hair’; Niall knew exactly where he got that from. After Niall got dressed, he got George in his shoes before locking the door and walking out of their apartment. The brunette works at a cafe that pays nice nearby, but he always manages to send his kid to day care first.
The doorbell chimed for the first time that morning as Niall walked in the café, seeing Rosie smiling at him from behind the counter where she was baking cookies for the day. Rosie was a senior lady about the age of 62, she opened this café in hopes of getting her hobby on the road, and basically just for fun. So when Niall showed up at her café looking for a job last five years ago, she just couldn’t resist. “Hello Rose.” Niall greeted, tying the apron behind him. “Good morning, dear. Can you get the coffee seeds ready? I’m a tad bit busy at the moment.” She laughed as she motioned to the cookies she was decorating, it was almost Christmas and Rosie’s Christmas cookies were always the bomb. “I’m going to need so many more batches of them today.” Niall just smiled at her, “Good luck, Rose. I’m going to be by the coffee brews if you need me.”
“Have a nice day, madam.” Niall smiled after the nice lady that was the third costumer of the day. The café was dry most of the time, seeing that most people don’t really know this place per see. “Um, sir?” Niall turned his head, seeing two girls his age calling him over. He nodded with a smile as he walked towards their table. “What can I do for you ladies today?”
“We couldn’t finish the food and we don’t really want to let it go to a waste.” The red haired girl stated and Niall smiled again (he seemed to be doing that a lot.) “Well, that’s tragic. Let me see if I can pack it up for you.” The girls smiled thankfully as he picked up the plates and got them to the counter to pack them up in bags so the girls can take them back home. “Thank you for coming!” The brunette man exclaimed over the two women that were exiting the shop before he made his way into the kitchen where Rosie was baking a cake.
“Is there anything I can help you with, Rose?” The lady nodded, asking Niall to help her with the cookies while she was getting the cake ready for the special order. Niall, of course agreed, taking the tray of cookie and the box of frosting to get it to the front where he can frost them and serve customers at the same time. The bell jingled, signaling that another costumer has came in and Niall place the white frosting and the cookie down, looking up to greet his costumer.
“Hello, what can I -"
