2| Annabeth Chase

in which annabeth chase realizes she is royally fucked.

---
Annabeth hated Percy Jackson so much she thought she was going to explode. They used to be the bestest of best friends, but then one day when they were thirteen, Percy decided to get mad at her for something she didn't do.

It wasn't fair at all, and he was basically the only friend she really had, other than her honorary sister Thalia. Well, blood sister is what Thalia preffered. They had met when Annabeth had first run away from her parents, and the Thalia had made Annabeth do the whole 'putting your bleeding fingers together and taking an oath' thing. It surprised Annabeth that she didn't get a blood disease.

But we're getting off track.

Percy's father had been murdered; found shot in the head, gun in his hand. At first, policemen had suspected murder, as a symbol had been carved into Poisedon's arm. But they finally ruled it as a suicide. So Trition Inc. was shut down and never became a success.

But you see, when this happened, Percy was a bit... well, emotionally unstable, was a way to put it. Long story short, Annabeth and Sally, Percy's mom, decided to surprise Percy with a weekend at their cabin in Mountauk. There had been a few bumps along the road, and there was an accident. Sally's arms had both been broken, and her leg fractured, while Annabeth got a concussion and three broken fingers.

Tramautised that he had almost lost his own mother so soon after his dad, Percy had believed that it was Annabeth's fault when Sally was trying to explain what had happened.

"Well, Annabeth was asking me something, and I looked away for a second, and this drunk driver came and--"

"So it was Annabeth's fault?"

"No, sweetie, it wasn't anyone's fault."

"Yes it was. Dad said not to be friends with her. She almost got you killed! You could have died! If she wasn't there you would've been looking!"

"Percy--"

"I hate her. I hate her."

What made the situation worse was that Annabeth's mom, Athena, and Percy's dad, Poisedon, had hated eachother, since their growing businesses were getting in the way of eachother. And that led authorities believe that Athena had ordered Poisedon's mysterious death. Then Athena didn't let Annabeth apologize for the crash, which led Percy to believe she didn't even care.

That led to Percy getting mad and Annabeth doing nothing but getting mad too. Percy got new friends, and a new best friend, someone Annabeth was aqquainted with already; Grover Underwood.

Annabeth's parents then divorced, and Annabeth left New York, Thalia, and Percy and went to San Francisco. With Poisedon out of the way, Athena became rich and powerful, and had gotten herself in things that she shouldn't have.

Athena died the exact same way Poisedon did a few weeks ago, and Annabeth had found her in her bedroom. So Annabeth, Parthenon Co.'s only heir, was sent to live with her father and his new family until she was old enough to continue building the empire Athena had started.

But Annabeth didn't want to. Her life was already confusing, especially since the notes started coming.

Annabeth took a deep breath. She didn't want to think of the notes right now. She didn't want to think about Percy, or Grover, or Thalia (which she had been reunited with the day before).

And so, that's why Annabeth had to attend Goode, New York's most presitigious private school, in the middle of the first semester.

She just wanted Science class over. She just wanted it all over. She wanted her old friendship back, her old house, she even wanted her mother.

Ananbeth was tempted to leave the class right now and run away again. She was ready to anyways. Why couldn't have Percy gone to any other highschool in New York? Why Goode?

Annabeth suddenly heard her name be called, along with another boy, Luke Castellan, who looked a bit older than everyone else. He also had a nasty scar on his face, which seemed out of place, because he seemed cheerful and nice, and the scar was just... evil.

She could hear Percy shout Yes! Annabeth shot him a death glare, and he tried to retaliate with his own, but Annabeth's was award-winning.

She sat down next to Luke, greeting him and then he began a conversation about how cheap the school was. Annabeth couldn't help but agree, since she gotten a few drips of sewer water on her clothes from a leak in the ceiling the second she walked into the school.

Her conversation was interrupted when a familiar voice say her name. She whipped around, hitting Luke with her curls. She planned to apologize after.

"It sure is, Mr. Underwood." Annabeth answered before Percy could, a fake smile plastered across her face. She ignore his stare. "How have you been?"

Grover seemed frozen in shock and fear. It took a full minute before he squeaked a "Uhm... Good."

"Good to hear that." Annabeth said, turning around, this time careful to hit Luke in the face again. She quickly apologized to him, and he waved it off. They were about to continue their conversation when Percy said four words that made her realize how much he hated her.

"What a little b--"

It made her feel horrible, so she did the only thing she could do as quickly as she could. She tattled.

"Mr. Hugh!" Annabeth's hand shot up, trying her best to sound innocent. "Percy called me a bi--"

"NO I DIDN'T, LIAR!" Percy shouted, standing up.

Annabeth stood up as well. "YOU'RE THE LIAR."

"NO I'M NOT YOU SELFISH FU--"

"YOU'RE A DICK, YOU KNOW THAT?"

They were so close together, and she could smell the familiar scent of the sea that she had loved so much. She looked in his green eyes, and she could feel the feelings she had put away. She wanted him so bad. But he hated her, so she could only hate him.

"Ms. Chase, Mr. Jackson." The teacher said sternly, his voice immediately shutting them up. "Please sit and let me continue the class without any of your interruptions. Detention for both of you."

Annabeth's eyes widened and she turned around. "But-- But Mr. Hugh--"

"Sit down, Annabeth. Or else it'll be double."

She sat down almost immediatly, staring down at her hands. Luke patted her on the shoulder awkwardly.

She used to have a crush on Percy. Then everything happened so quickly, and he did some things that were so rude she just couldn't anymore. She hated him back.

Annabeth's sudden feelings were replaced with anger. But that didn't last long either, since an announcement came on as the teacher was writing the detention slips.

"Lockdown, now." Annabeth guessed it was the principal. "I repeat, lockdown your classrooms. No one leaves and no one ente--" A loud bang was heard, and then a thump. "If you lockdown, we will find you. You know who you are." A new, cold, voice said. "Your mother can't protect you now." The voice laughed, and a ding aignaled the end of the announcement.

Annabeth recognized it as the laughshe had heard when her mother had died. What she hadn't told anyone was that she saw her mother's death happen, she saw it happen in front of her eyes, and she knew who did it. The man didn't see her (thank the gods), and laughed to himself when he was done. He laughed.

Suddenly, the notes all made sense, and as the screaming started, she felt as pale as her mother was when Annabeth found her.

Athena's biggest rivals were here to kill her. But Annabeth sure as fuck didn't want to die at the hands of the Giants, Gaea's group of proffesional hitman.

Who was Gaea? The woman in charge of the country's most ruthless gang; the Monsters. And you know why they wanted Annabeth? Because for some reason, they wanted Parthenon Co. to go down the drain.

What exactly had Athena been into?
