✷ 030: Convince.

TOO FAMOUS ! by KissLeclerc
March 15, 2024 # "Pretty Please."

SITTING AT THE DINNER TABLE, bonding over lively discussions and shared laughs, Ollie was getting along fairly well with the Suzukis. Of course, Hiro was fangirling a majority of the time while his wife attempted to keep him calm, but the brunette found it sweet and endearing.

"So, what do you think?" The man grinned as Ollie finished his meal. "Who is the better cook?" He laughed as Devyn scoffed through a subtle smile, causing the boy beside her to briefly glance over.

"I'm sorry, Dev." He pat her on the thigh before giving it a reassuring squeeze. "Your dad's is better."

"We're breaking up." She was quick to reply, taking a sip of her water as her dad gasped out loud.

"NO, NO, NO, NO!" He panicked. Shaking his head and pointing a finger at his daughter. "He stay in our family forever." Hiro scolded.

"Starting to think dad loves Ollie more than me." Max quirked a brow as he spoke up. "I do." The man quickly responded to his son's sarcastic statement.

"Right!" The teenage boy scoffed.

"You want seconds?" Adaminta questioned as Ollie declined. "I'm alright! Thank you though. I'm very full." He pat himself on the stomach as Devyn just smiled.

"I want seconds..." Max raised his hand as Hiro shoved the boy's arm down. "If Ollie is full, we are all full." Their dad snickered with his familiar grin.

"Division one glazer." The sixteen year old boy huffed. Crossing his arms in irritation as Devyn slid over her bowl so he could finish the rest. "Eat up, fat ass." She mumbled.

"I'M BULKING! I need it." He responded, making Ollie laugh at their common sibling banter.

"So, Ollie." Hiro propped his elbows on the table as Adaminta began to clean up the empty dishes. Excusing herself from the table as her husband kept a conversation with the boy.

"How did you and my daughter meet?" He asked. Causing the girl to freeze in place, which the brunette had noticed. Placing his hand into hers under the table with a comforting squeeze, he telepathically assured her through a knowing glance that he has got the answer covered.

"One of my best mates go to Cardiff." Ollie replied. "He's friends with Devyn and I met her back when I visited." He lied.

"Ahhhhh—I see." The man nodded. "Did she give you a hard time?" He laughed. "Did you know she knew who you were? She saw you once on the TV last year and went crazy."

"Did she now?" Ollie raised a brow with a teasing smirk on his face as Devyn gasped into the palms of her hand. Max laughing at the fact their dad was embarrassing her now.

"Oh, of couuursssee." Hiro smiled, stretching out his words. "She went up to the TV and started kissing it, saying you were so handsome, and beautiful, and—"

"Okay, no I didn't!" The girl defended herself as he was now just lying to lie.

"No, I'm telling the truth, I don't lie!" The man snickered. "She was like: Ohhhh Ollie! I love you—" His tone went up a couple octaves to mock his daughter's voice. "Please notice me, Ollie—"

"Hiro!" Adaminta scolded. The brunette practically losing it as his girlfriend grumbled in humiliation.

"Then she followed you on Instagram, talked about you for weeks and then—"

"OKAY, MAX. PLEASE." Devyn interrupted in attempts to save herself from any further embarrassment, but it was already too late.

"I actually think that's sweet." Ollie snickered as he wrapped an arm around her. "Kinda..." He bit down a smile before bringing his girlfriend close as he gave her a warm side hug.

"What else? Do you have a shrine of me in your room?" He unexpectedly continued to tease, causing her to shove him away in irritation.

"I did actually! Worshipped it every night and prayed for you." She crossed her arms and sarcastically replied.

"Well, I guess it worked then." His laugh followed after.

"You have a race next weekend, don't you?" Hiro asked as he moved onto a different topic. "Australia?" He quirked a brow. Devyn and Ollie sharing a subtle glance and hoping that this was now a good time to discuss their plans.

Thank you, Hiro.

"Oh! Yeah—Right." Ollie nodded. "I do."

"Excited?" The man smiled.

"Very! I was really happy to be starting pole in F2 back in Jeddah, but obviously I had bigger duties to attend to." The brunette explained. "And hopefully, I can do it again and win this time."

"You did good, my friend." Hiro sweetly smiled. "Made us Ferrari fans proud." He reached over and pat him on the back.

"Hm.. could I ask you something?" Ollie asked after exchanging a few kind looks with the man. "Of course, of course!" He nodded. "Anything."

"It's a favor.. almost."

"I'm all ears." He crossed his arms and leaned forward. Waiting for Ollie's question with anticipation.

"Can Devyn come with me?" He ripped the bandaid off and asked straight away. The girl's hands coming together in a begging manner. "Pretty please." She said softly.

"HUH?!" Hiro gasped. "Without me?!" He seemed offended but Devyn knew he was just playing around. "That's insulting to me! How could you only bring her?!"

"Oh!—I'm sorry! Maybe I could—"

"Just kidding." Hiro snickered out loud, causing Ollie to let out the breath he didn't know he was holding as Devyn rubbed his back with a laugh.

"Of course you can. You just have to ask her mom." He shrugged. "She lives in a different continent now, what's the harm in her traveling to another!" The man seemed very lenient.

"Ask me what?" Adaminta came back from what seemed to be washing the dishes back in the kitchen.

"Ohhhhh..." Max began to instigate as he knew their mom was hard to convince.

"Uhm..." Ollie seemed nervous.

"Go ahead." Hiro nodded. "Ask." He insisted.

"Can I go to Australia with Ollie?" Devyn was the one to question which caught her boyfriend off guard. "For his race?"

"No." Adaminta quickly rejected. "No, no, nope." She shook her head.

"Okay." The girl just accepted it, knowing her mom was a woman of her word and this was just gonna stay a No.

"Wha—No! No! No!" Hiro scoffed. "Ada, my sweet lotus flower, come on! Let the girl go." He nudged her side. "It would be fun for her."

"Ollie, you seem like a sweet boy, but where would she stay? I am not trusting her with you alone just yet." The woman crossed her arms, seeming hesitant.

"Reneé would be coming too. And maybe Mina and Sasha as well but I'm not too sure, they still have to get back to us. But, Reneé is for sure going. We're gonna split a hotel for us two." Devyn explained slowly, in hopes that this would change her mother's mind.

"Why Australia?"

"There's a race." Hiro was quick to reply. "Come on! Let her go." He tried to convince his wife.

"Who is buying the ticket? It's expensive."

"Ada, I can." Her husband tried to help their daughter out as much as he could. "It's not a worry—"

"No need. I've already bought the tickets." Ollie said nervously as the woman took a deep breath. "That's very reckless of you..." She sighed. "

"Yes, ma'am, I know... I'm sorry." He now seemed to be afraid of her.

"When would you leave?" Adaminta asked. Crossing her arms as she waited patiently for an answer.

"Monday morning." Devyn replied nervously as her mother fell into deep thought. Closing her eyes as she let out a breath.

"Okay." The woman shrugged. "I can't stop you." She seemed to be upset but that's just how moms are sometimes.

"Really?!" Devyn gasped as she honestly didn't think she'd be able to convince her mom this easily.

"Your life." She replied. "You're 18. You make your own choices. I just have to get used to it."

"Thank you, mom." The girl got up from her seat to give her a hug. "And thank you." She turned to her dad for am embrace of his own.

"Thank you, Mrs. Suzuki." Ollie stood up to give the woman a handshake, but she aimed for a hug instead. "I'll take good care of her, I promise."

"Please, just call me Adaminta." She insisted. "And don't get my daughter killed, alright?"

"I'll protect her with my life." He smiled wide and assured the older woman.

"Any way you could sneak me a ticket?" Max interrupted with a question of his own. "Take me with you guys!"

"You've got school. No way." Adaminta was quick to shut it down. "Maybe in the summer." Hiro added on with a wink before he looked at Ollie.

"That could be arranged."
