✷ 024: Morning Lecture.

TOO FAMOUS !      by KissLeclerc
February 12, 2024    #    "NO WHAT."

WAKING UP TO HER blaring alarm, Devyn stirred in her sleep before nearly falling off the bed. Completely forgetting that Ollie was asleep beside her, but the boy in question had thankfully prevented her fall as his reflexes caught her in time.

"Jesus christ—" She grumbled, her eyes half open as she reached over towards her shelf to shut the phone alarm off before looking down to see Ollie had easily went back to sleep.

Yawning and stretching in place, the girl had effortlessly slipped out of bed, knowing the time was 6:00AM, the usual time she'd wake up for class, choosing to let Ollie continue sleeping before preparing to go ahead and make her way to the bathroom to freshen up.

Grabbing her bathroom caddy and other essentials, the girl picked up her keys along with another fresh set of pajamas before exiting her room.

After a brief shower that fully woke her up, Devyn felt refreshed as she did her skin care routine and slipped on a warm pair of pajamas to comfortably lounge around in while she continued to get ready back in her room.

"Goodmorning." Ollie had probably heard the girl re-enter the dorm as his voice was muffled into her bed sheets. The boy now laying stomach first, opposed to the side position he was in all night.

"Morning." Devyn laughed at his state as she set down her things. "Come on." She said with a yawn and walked toward the bed.

"Time to get up!" The girl reached forward to slap his butt.

Lifting his head up from her pillows in surprise, she snickered as he stared at her through tired eyes, trying to process if what she did was real.  "I won't even complain." Ollie laughed, his grin widening as he nestled deeper into the sheets. "I'll be up. Just give me 5 more minutes."

"How long do you usually take to get ready?"

"Like 10 minutes," The boy replied, his head still nuzzled into the pillows.

"Oh," Her response held a hint of surprise. "Yeah, so you can sleep for like another hour then."

"What?—What time is it?" His confusion was evident as he glanced up.

"6:30," She replied.

"But your class isn't until 8 though?" Ollie's eyebrows shot up in disbelief, his tired eyes trying to adjust to her lamp that she had just turned on.

"Well yeah... but I have to get ready..."  Devyn looked at him as if he was the stupidest person alive. "I take my time."

"Right..." He nodded. His sudden burst of surprise completely waking him up as he was now sitting up right.

"You can go back to sleep, it's okay!" She insisted. Taking a seat at her desk. "No—It's all good, I'm already up." He shrugged. "Plus, we only have today left. Might as well spend every second I can with you."

"Someone's clingy..." Devyn snickered as she pushed her front pieces of hair back with clips, proceeding to start her makeup routine.

"Can you blame me?" Ollie asked as a roll of her eyes came in response. A small scoff escaping her lips. "Corny. I know." He smiled, already knowing what she was going to say.

"Took the words right out of my mouth!" She laughed, sending him a small wink as he finally got out of bed.

"Well, I'm gonna go to the lou." He explained, walking over to his duffel bag to pull out his bathroom essentials. "Will be right back." He smiled before exiting her dorm.

Turning back to her desk mirror, Devyn continued to try and rush her makeup routine, which wasn't really much, while Ollie was in the bathroom.

Curling out her eyelashes, she decided to quietly play some music as she got ready, mindlessly humming along as the minutes went by, and as expected, Ollie eventually knocked on the door to come back in.

"Do I know you?" She quirked a brow as he stood at the door frame, playfully rolling his eyes at her remark before she moved aside to let him in.

"Do we have anything planned for after class?" Ollie asked as he reached back for his duffel bag to find an outfit for the day.

"Uhhh..." Devyn sat back down at her desk, and began applying mascara. "No." She shook her head. "I'm craving ice cream though... wanna get some of that?"

"Ice cream?... in this weather?" He quirked a brow.

"I want ice cream no matter the temperature." She finished her makeup as she applied lip gloss. "Don't judge."

"No judgment at all." The boy threw his arms up in surrender as he opted for a casual hoodie and jeans ensemble.

"Do you actually want to go to class with me?" Devyn got up from her seat, asking her question as she stood in front of her dresser, turning her head to look at him.

"Well, why not?" He shrugged, taking off his shirt with no care. "I don't mind."

"Riiiight." She quickly looked away, blushing since he did that with no warning. "I don't know." Her mouth felt numb. "Who would willingly want to go to an 8am statistics class." Devyn nervously mumbled as she dug through her clothes.

"Are you okay?" He questioned.

"I'm fine." She suppressed a grin in attempts to casually move on from what Ollie just did since he was clueless anyways.

Proceeding to opt for a sweater and baggy jeans for comfort, Devyn turned back around to Ollie as he was now dressed and ready, mindlessly fixing the bed for her as she stared in awe.

"I'm gonna change." She announced.

"And I assume you want me to turn around..." He quirked a brow as she internally groaned. They may have been dating and have shared a countless amount of kisses, but she was still adjusting to certain things. It was still new!

"Yes please." Devyn said through a breathy laugh as he nodded in response, proceeding to listen to her request.

Quickly changing her clothes and setting her newly fresh pair of pajamas to the side, Devyn slipped on some socks and decided to just wear her platform Uggs before telling Ollie it was okay to look. Proceeding to pack her bag as he watched her happily, the girl grabbed her laptop and slipped it in along with other essentials, finally declaring herself ready for the morning.

"Shit—Wait." The girl grumbled to herself before hopping onto her newly made bed, courtesy of Ollie, and grabbed her glasses from the shelf. "My bad." She snickered since she nearly forgot the important essential.

"Ready?" Devyn asked as she slung her bag over her shoulder. "It's only 7:20..?" Ollie quirked a brow as he glanced at his watch.

"Seats get taken fast and I would like to get a sweet treat beforehand." She replied.

"Noted." The boy shrugged, going along with whatever she wanted and smiled.

"Let's go." She said with her hand held out before he happily slipped his into hers.

Grabbing Devyn's room keys for her since she nearly forgot, the couple continued to exit the room, coincidentally running into a tired Reneé walking in the hallway with a blanket wrapped around her body.

"Oh—Morning my gorgeous!" Devyn smiled.

"Hi." The blonde rubbed her eye. "Going to class?" She said through a yawn.

"Getting a sweet treat first." Ollie quoted his girlfriend's words in response to her question. "Or whatever."

"Right." Reneé quirked a brow at his use of words, nearly laughing. "Well, have fun. I'm going to back to sleep." She subtly smiled before entering the room.

"Don't forget you have class at 9!" Devyn reminded her roommate.

"Thanks! I will be forgetting!" Reneé said through the door, making the duo laugh in response.

As they continued to make their descend down to the lobby Devyn and Ollie stepped outside the dorm building, a brisk February breeze greeting the duo, swiftly sending shivers down their spines in the wintry air.

Subconsciously grabbing onto Ollie's arm for comfort and to find shelter in his body warmth, the boy laughed at Devyn before she shoved him away, playfully rolling her eyes at his teasing.

"Well do you still want to get ice cream later?" He asked as she gave him a glance. "Of course, I do." She seemed nearly offended that he asked, but soon playing it off with a giggle.

Strolling along the alley of dorm buildings, Devyn eventually lead Ollie onto the campus of her university, mindlessly making her way towards the math department where her statistics class sat, but on the way, there was a small cafe opened for students that were up early.

Approaching the little kiosk cafe, Devyn was greeted by a familiar worker with a smile, Ollie standing close behind her as she ordered. "What do you want?" She turned to her boyfriend.

"Uhhh, I'll take a croissant thanks!" He smiled. "And... an espresso!"

"Got it! Anything else?" The barista questioned. "No, that'll be all." The girl grinned, holding her phone in hand to use apple pay.

"Your total is £12.45." He smiled as Devyn reached forward to pay but Ollie's long arm quickly reached forward, his card tapping away to pay for their sweet treats and beverages.

"OLIVER." She said through gritted teeth as he shamelessly pocketed his card, and grinned knowingly.

"I don't know what happened! Must've slipped..."

"Im paying you back!" She sighed before Ollie took the receipt from the cashier. "Order 4!" They smiled. "Thanks!"

"Ohhhh—I'll kill you." The duo walked away from the register, Devyn snatching the receipt out of his hands. "I was gonna pay!"

"Exactly." Ollie shrugged. "Just know you are never paying with me around."

"You calling me poor?" She quirked a brow playfully as his heart nearly dropped.

"WHAT—NO?!" He gasped, a wide smile returning from Devyn as she laughed aloud. "KIDDING! I know you don't think that." She assured him. "I hope."

"I don't—not at all." Ollie quickly shook his head as she reached up and placed a kiss on his cheek, allowing him to let out a breath of relief. "Thank you for paying... I guess." She sighed.

"You can pay for ice cream... if you want." He suggested. "Just know it'll pain me."

"I can cover our ice cream." She nodded. "I got it. Trust."

"Order 4!" They were interrupted from their side conversation as their food and drinks were ready.

Walking over to the pickup counter, Ollie handed Devyn her warm chai tea and blueberry pastry, her smile widening at the scent.

"Thank you Enzo!" She bid the familiar barista goodbye before walking off with Ollie close to her side.

As they ate, walked, and talked, the two approached a building as Ollie went ahead and opened the front door for the both of them, walking in to be met with the warmth of the hallways and feeling relieved.

"This is so. Good." Devyn swallowed her pastry. "I need it up my ass." She grumbled.

"Excuse me?" Ollie nearly spat out his espresso, laughing.

"I said what I said, I don't need to repeat it." She crumpled her pastry wrapper, and disposed of it properly.

"So, where's your class?" The boy attempted to move on from what she had just said, but a smile still rid his lips as he internally snickered at the comment once again.

"Third floor, elevator is this way!" She smiled happily. "Don't think I'm excited for stats. I'm just glad I have you."

Laughing at her remark, he quickly followed after when the
elevator coincidentally opened for them in time. Getting onto the lift, Ollie pressed the number three, remembering what Devyn had said seconds before.

Finally arriving to her class, the couple entered the large lecture room with the time sitting at 7:45AM.

As expected, there were already a lot of seats taken at the front, making Devyn roll her eyes. "I can never even see the board past the fifth row." She groaned. "Ninth row will have to do I guess."

"Don't worry." Ollie pat her back. "I'll tell you what it says." He smiled as the two made their way to a couple vacant seats in the center of the lecture room.

Upon sitting down, Devyn was quick to pull out her computer and notebook, with another journal that she slid over to Ollie. "Take notes, draw a silly picture, I don't care. Just seem productive." She whispered an explanation.

"Understood."  The boy smiled happily, sipping on his warm beverage.

"But, do NOT draw dicks. This is my ethics journal." Devyn flipped through the pages and left it open for him at a spot in the back.

"Damnit." He grumbled as she glared at him.

"Well, I'm gonna use the lou." Devyn giggled her sentence as she mocked his words from earlier that morning. "Sensitive blatter, I'm afraid." She panned to the half drinken chai latte on the table.

"Don't die." He whispered back as she laughed at him and got up from her seat.

Watching Devyn make her way out of the lecture room, Ollie pulled out his phone as he began to mindlessly scroll through Instagram and respond some unopened messages, trying not to attract too much attention to himself as he wasn't even in the class nor did he even go to this school.

But, that definitely didn't work.

"Hi! Is this seat taken?" An unfamiliar british accent called out from the vacant side next to Ollie.

"Uhhh—" He couldn't even answer as the girl went ahead and sat down anyways. "Josie." She smiled. "I've never seen you in this class?"

"Oh—right." He laughed awkwardly as she began to make herself comfortable and unpack her things. "Did you just recently transfer in?"

"Uh. No." He tried to keep the conversation to a minimum as he paid her no attention and proceeded to scroll on his phone.

"Sorry, I didn't get your name?" Her laugh was obnoxious making him subtly scoot away from her.

"I'm back..." Devyn's voice appeared, making him straighten his posture in relief. The sound of her tone practically comforting him.

"Oh, Josie..." His girlfriend quirked a brow. "Goodmorning..." Her tone was nearly standoffish as she sat back down in her seat.

"Devyn..." The ginger seemed unamused.

"I see you've met my boyfriend?" Devyn nearly snickered, and sipped her cooled down latte while Ollie mindlessly draped his arm on the back of her seat.

"Right." Josie nearly scoffed before packing up her things. "Yeah, excuse me." She rolled her eyes, proceeding to get up and leave.

"Jesus christ." The American girl continued to laugh through hushed giggles as Ollie turned to her in confusion. "You know her?!"

"Josie was my partner in my biology lab last semester. She was a nightmare." She whispered.

"You seemed standoffish, never seen you like that before" The brunette boy raised his brows while he glanced at his girlfriend.

"Well? She doesn't have the best reputation either. She apparently got with a guy that Sasha was seeing a couple months ago." Devyn began to gossip. "I've also heard a plenty of other bad things." She finished her latte.

"What did she talk to you about?"

"Not a lot. She barely let me talk, nor did I give her any answers." Ollie snickered as the professor finally walked in.

"That is beautiful news to hear." She placed a hand on his cheek and squeezed it. "Proud of you!" Her lips curled into a sweet smile.

"Would've preferred for you to shove her out of the seat and burn her to the stake while you yell 'IM MARRIED!' But, not saying anything works too." Devyn was barely able to keep herself together and laughed at her own words.

"Next time, I'll be sure to definitely do that!" Ollie leaned forward and snickered with the girl beside her, the two trying to find their trace of maturity when the lecture suddenly began.

As the hour continued to go by, Devyn constantly squinted at the board in attempts to read it but Ollie thankfully whispered what it had said as she copied it down or typed it.

"I don't even know what any of this means." He mumbled, making Devyn look up and glance at him through her glasses.

"This is why we stay in school." Her voice was a mere whisper.

"I can't. I drive race cars for a living."

"Skill issue then." She snickered as her professor moved onto another part of the lesson.

Finally coming to the end of class and receiving their dismissal, Ollie had mindlessly doodled several questionable drawings which Devyn couldn't help but smile at how proud he looked when he showed her.

Packing the rest of her things before skimming through the drawings on the page her boyfriend had scribbled on, she noticed a corny heart with an arrow with their initials inside.

"You're so cringe." She teased and glanced up at the boy before closing the notebook and storing it away.

"Wow, Ollie! This is a work of art." He mumbled to himself. "That would've been nice." The boy glanced at her as he playfully scoffed.

"Oh no, I loved it! I'm definitely hanging it on the fridge." Devyn stood up and smiled.

"Thank you! I worked really hard on it." He mirrored her expression before they made their way out of the cleared out lecture room.

Their smiles not leaving their faces once.

And Devyn couldn't help but wish for this to become a daily routine, but she knew those odds would never be in her favor.

But, she convinced herself that it would be okay.
