Taking things too far

(Doesn't follow the right timeline and I let Bucky keep his arm)

⚠️TW panic attack, torture-nothing too graphic⚠️

He lost his temper when he heard Ross had locked the others in the raft. A god damn sinking prison for the worlds worst supervillains operating outside of the governments main branch.

He stomped up to Rogers, biting back the wince of his fractured knee.

After Rogers had left him bleeding on the floor in the cold he thought he was done for. 'The end of Tony Stark' 'Last Stark Standing has Fallen'. The news would have a field day trying to figure out what exactly happened in that bunker.

Just as he was about to stop holding on he heard footsteps, multiple. That meant it couldn't be Zemo, and he physically relaxed at the realization.

When the footsteps stopped near him he lazily opened an eye, and stared straight into the eyes of Captain freaking America. Of course he'd come back, he couldn't have the people figuring out it was him who had killed Tony Stark.

He didn't speak, just looked at the mess of armor. He had a hint of something resembling guilt in his eyes, maybe remorse. But there was no way a the man who drove his vibranium shield into his friends heart could be remorseful.

He snapped out of his thoughts and noticed that Rogers was speaking.

"-out of the suit? Tony, how do I get you out of the suit?"

"L-ever on t-the gaun-tlet" he moved his right hand as much as he could to draw attention to it. Muscles protesting from the pain and deep chill of the frigid air.

Rogers hands moved to gently pull the lever, the suit crackled and sparked as it practically fell to pieces around Tony. With the heat of the suit gone he started to freely shiver.

He faintly registered hands hovering over his arms, arms he wanted to pull away but couldn't move. Ok he could move his right one but it hurt, and his left one was broken in multiple places.

He managed, with help from Rogers, to stand up. Too out of it to realize he was leaning on the man who put him in that situation.

His limp head lifted so he could watch where he was going, it wasn't that he didn't trust Rogers, but he didn't trust Rogers. Not now, probably not again.

When his head was up enough for him to clearly see, and his vision stopped blurring he noticed another person. Right multiple footsteps. He focused on them and froze. Heartbeat quickening, which the other could clearly hear, for he shifted awkwardly and hid the metal arm behind his back.

"We have to go Tony, you're too cold"

"Like y-ou c-care" he chattered out, but began walking anyways.

"I'm so-"

"Don't" I know it's empty.

"But Tony I-"

Tony shoved himself away from Rogers and began stumbling towards the jet himself, his suit counting down behind him until it felt destructed. He didn't need another Ivan Vanko on his plate.

Rogers stalled for a moment before collecting himself and following closely behind. Barnes trailing further back. Careful not to make a noise.

They made it to the jet and got on, Rogers heading for the pilot seat and Barnes slipping into co pilot.

Tony lowered himself down on one of the back seats, wondering what would happen now? There's no way they could just 'drop him off' back at the compound. Not now that they're fugitives and not without Rhodey kicking their asses for leaving Tony him such a bad state.

He felt a buzzing in his pocket as they took off. He forgot he had his phone with him. He took it out and looked at the screen, it was Rhodey. Speak of the devil.

"Hey Honey bear" he started, ignoring the way Barnes peaked over his shoulder.

"Tony there's no time for nicknames, Ross has the others locked in the raft"

"The raft?"

"Yeah Tony, that god damn sinking prison"

"Ok I'll get them out"

"Wait that's not what I meant for you to do-"

"Already made up my mind bye Rhodey" he hung up and sank against the chair. He took a breath and slowly stood up to look for the med kit that should be on board.

He grabbed the kit and practically dragged it to his previous seat. He sat down and got to work pouring antiseptic on his worst cuts. When he finished with the harm to his body, he grabbed the tool kit and tried to fix the reactor. He took his shirt off and put his hand around the device. Now that the jet was on auto pilot he felt the two super soldiers stare at him. He didn't point this out though, there was a time where he'd make a snappy remark and laugh as Rogers face turned bright red. That time was long gone.

He carefully pulled the cracked reactor from its casing, ignoring the gasps from the two. He set it down on the bench beside him and worked quickly. Wincing as he felt the shrapnel inch closer and closer to his heart. When he finished he poured the rest of the sanitizer all over it and all but shoved it in his chest. Sighing as his heart started beating at its normal rhythm.

No time for relief though, he had the others to worry about.

"Ross has the others locked in the Raft"

"The what?" Rogers asked.

"It's an underwater prison meant to held the worlds worst super villains" he sighed, looking at the blonde. He watched as the rage inside him boiled and stood up to intervene before it got out of control again. He limped towards Barnes and saw Rogers almost jump out of his seat. He would've scoffed at the protectiveness, but he didn't. "We have to get them out, luckily I know the layout of the place. I hacked the data centers one Friday night when I was bored" he shrugged, "but if we're going to do this I need to fix your arm"

Barnes looked visible shocked, frown forming on his face.

"Why would you want to? I hurt you, I killed your-"

"Look we don't need to do this, it wasn't you and I know that. I reacted irrationally I'm sorry, but please that looks like it really hurts and as much as I can pretend I hate watching people hurt"

"Oh, ok" Barnes said simply, following a still limping Tony to the back. He sat down and waited for Tony to start. He grabbed a tool and sat down next to his arm.

His tongue stuck slightly out his mouth as he concentrated. Pulling wires out and putting them back in. In about fifteen minutes the arm was live again and Barnes could move it without pain.

"Thank you"

"Psh, it's fine Frosty" He waved a hand, and winced at the motion. His shoulder was really sore, be guessed he had pulled a few muscles.

"Your turn then, if you want. You can't help us fight if your shoulders stiff" Bucky offered.

"Ok" he sighed, he really didn't want to do it. But his real battle was with Rogers, Bucky had been a third party dragged into the mess by Hydra. He turned his back to the man and he waited. A warm but hesitant hand hovered over his shoulder. Heat radiating off of it. When Tony didn't flinch away, no matter how much he wanted to, he placed it on the sore muscles. Tony tensed then but immediately slouched as he started kneading the sore muscle.

He sighed and relaxed further, very close to sagging against the man. But he was just so warm and Tony was still so cold.

He couldn't tell how long he was sitting there, letting the man who murdered his parents relieve the pain of sore muscles. But by the time he realized it had probably been a while Rogers had spoken.

"How are we going to go about this, we're an hour out"

"You two are going to sneak in while I distract Ross. Me being there will be blizzard but not enough for his to suspect anything. I can take down the visuals, but not the audios because a total loss of surveillance will set off an alarm. Keep quiet and while they're working on fixing the cameras I'll disable the locks, you'll have about fifty seconds to get them all out and back onto the jet"

"What about you?"

"I'll have Jarvis send a suit and fly home that way, don't worry about me Frosty" Tony shrugged.

"Alright, where are they kept" Rogers asked.

"Ross has the memory of a gold fish when it comes to directions. There are discrete signs all around he thinks no one notices them but I have. They have a deep blue arrow, and they're etched into the wall like part of the design, follow those and you'll find the main holding quarters"

The two super soldiers nodded, Bucky got back up and stood behind the co pilot chair.

Tony stiffly stood up and stood next to Bucky. He watched as the rafts surface was bobbing slightly over the waves. Tony pointed to the landing pad above the surface, and Rogers piloted it down.

Tony hopped out first, "here it's a com link, it'll keep us connected" he handed Bucky and Rogers each an earpiece.

"Where'd you get these"

"Not important, refrain from using real names. If they notice another frequency being occupied, and these guys aren't as bad at their jobs as Ross then they'll figure out what's happening" he turned away from them and looked over his shoulder, "deep blue arrows"

"Deep blue arrows, good luck Tony"

"You too Rogers" he nodded to both and sprinted across the main deck. Stopping for a breath and pushing the door open, immediately the lights on the security cameras turned on. He pulled out his phone so as to remain inconspicuous while talking on the comms.

"You guys connected?" Rogers asked.

"Yep" Bucky answered.

"Yeah I'm here, the cameras turn on the moment you walk in. I'll get them disabled right away, just stay away from ones with blinking lights"

"Got it" Rogers acknowledged.

Tony put his phone away and headed to the control rooms. It was empty for the most part, just a few operators. He was able to slip in unannounced, as they had head sets on and seemed to be talking to other people. He slid into one of the seats out of eye-line from the others and began working.

He hacked into the data base and found the code for the security cameras, he installed a flash virus which shut down the cameras and whispered to the comms.

"Got it, remember hurry"

"Alright" came the reply, followed by the sound of a door opening.

"Stupid, come on this way"

"Yeah, got it punk. No the arrows that way"

"Shit you're right"

"Language" Tony mumbled, forgetting his earpiece was on.

"God that was forever ago, can't we forget about it"

"Hold on what? It sounds like there's a story there"

"There's a story there for another day, we're at the door"

"It should open" Tony whispered, working on the cell locks. "You in?"

"Yep" they responded.

"Good the doors unlock in five, four, three, two, one go for it. Fifty seconds" He heard hushed talking and hurrying footsteps.

"We're near the door, that was way too easy"

"Ross isn't really the smartest when it comes to even the worst criminals confinement"

"I think you'll find that I can be pretty smart Anthony" Tony froze, taking in the number of guns surrounding him. He closed his eyes and sighed.

"Hey Ross, hows it going?"

"Don't bullshit me Stark. What are you doing"

"Oh just sprucing up your tech. It's way too slow, it really needs to hurry up. You know how it is with all this old tech" he smirked, hoping Bucky and Rogers got the message.

"You think me naive Stark. I know the rogues are escaping, they were never my target"

"Target?"

"What's he talking about, respond!" Rogers practically yelled down his ear.

"God damn it Doll answer"

"Did you just call him doll?"

"Oh shut it Steve it slipped out"

"You seriously think that a group of somewhat unknown individuals was my target, no you Anthony Edward Stark were my target all along. You posses the knowledge of Extremis and I'm afraid I can't let you get away with it"

"You want Extremis? I destroyed it, all of it"

"Not all of it, I know the data's still in your mind Stark. You're a smart man start acting like it" he nodded to two of the guards and they holstered their weapons. They stepped forwards and grabbed Tony harshly under his arms, he bit back a groan, as they manhandled his sore-from-Siberia body through the door. He noted with amusement that the operators hadn't moved once during the interrogation.

They dragged him down a few hallways, he noted Ross looking at the walls and huffed a laugh.

"You still don't know where you're going, after all this time"

"Very funny Stark, I just want to make sure they drop you in the right containment unit." The way he said it made Tony's skin crawl.

"We're coming back for you" Rogers said, "I'm not leaving you"

"Go, Go ahead. You don't have much of a choice do you?" He tried to say it in a way that didn't alert them to the earpiece, if any some miracle Ross hadn't noticed it yet.

"You're right, see you're getting it. I can't just let the Extremis info die"

"Or you could, there's no need for something that unstable"

"The same could be said about your team"

Tony growled and tried to pull himself from the guards grasps. But they were strong and he was still weak from fighting not one but two super soldiers.

The reached a door and carried him to a chair in the center. Strapping his arms to the arms of the chair, and his legs to the legs. They secured a strap around his chest, that pressed against the arc in the worst way. Breathing pushed the arc back into his chest, sending pain through his whole body.

He stared at the group of people, searching for the weak link. The one he could work on. To his misfortune they all seemed to be perfectly stoic, not a hint of remorse. If he wasn't their focus he would have been impressed.

Ross whispered something into one of their ears and he nodded and left. The room remained quiet until the man cane back. In his hands was a metal collar, a shock collar. He tried to shrink away from it but being strapped to a chair prohibited that. The cold metal was clamped around his neck, and locked with a key.

Ross held his hand out and the man dropped a remote in his palm.

"I think you know what this does, but why don't we test it" his thumb pressed down on the button and a current was sent through Tony's body. His jaw clenched as he shook. Groans escaping his lips as the pain shot through his veins, and the arc was pressed into his chest.

When Ross took his thumb off the button, Tony sagged with exhaustion. Getting hit once was enough to make him nearly pass out, he didn't want to do that again. But he couldn't give them the data.

"So are you going to give me what I want?"

"No" he bit through gritted teeth. Waiting for the shock that's like follow.

He didn't know how long he had been there for, but they had repeated the same process with different variations a dozen times.

Sometimes it was the shock collar, but others it was plain barbaric beatings. They had even gone so far as to water board him. He had a panic attack so bad that they had to give up for the day, there was no way he could've given Ross the data even if he wanted too.

That had left him incredibly exhausted, along with the bruises and what felt like multiple broken bones, he had passed out about four times. He couldn't be sure, it might have been more.

Throughout the whole thing the earpiece remained unknown, and working thanks to electricity/water resistant earpieces. Designed by Tony of course.

Daily he heard reminders from the other two.

"We're finding a way to get you out"

"We'll be there soon doll don't worry"

"I'm so sorry Tony, for everything but I think we have a way"

"We're ten minutes out, we'll be there soon just hold on"

He'd heard that while they water boarded him. One of the guards pulled his head out from the tank and Ross grabbed his chin roughly, probably leaving bruises.

"Made up your mind Stark"

"M-my mind has n-never changed" he spat in Ross's face. Ross shoved his head back and ordered the men to shove his head in once more. He was underwater but could hear the sound of a fight.

The man holding his head down was shoved away from him and two strong familiar hands pulled him out of the water. He gulped in air, hyperventilating.

"Sow your breathing for me Doll, that's it We're here now" Bucky smiled, keeping one hand on his shoulder and another cupping his face.

Two other hands untied his wrists from where they were bound behind his back. When his arms were free he flung them around Bucky, boundaries be damned.

"Ok, Steve lets get him out of here" Bucky stood up, taking most of Tony's weight.

"Yeah, T'Challa's arresting Ross under orders of the UN".

"Good" Bucky began basically carrying Tony out, he was way too thin and pale.

He gulped down fresh air when he was taken to the landing pad. Sagging further against Bucky. They climbed into the jet, and took off.

Tony noticed the others, besides Steve and Bucky there were, Clint, Wanda and Sam.

He was about to thank them and apologize before the all too familiar shocking feeling shot through his body. Of course the collar would be perimeter controlled. His body shook and he slumped to the floor, grasping at it desperately. Unable to draw a breath.

"T-take it, take it off. NOW!" He cried, shaking as Buckys hands tightened around the metal. Without hesitation he tore the collar as if it were paper.
Tony fell bonelessly into the arms of the man he once fought. Tears of relief making their way down his face, wetting the dry fabric of the mans shirt.

"God, Tony I'm sorry can you breathe. Do you need anything else?" Bucky asked, carding a hand through Tony's wet hair.

Tony just sobbed further into Buckys' shirt and slouched more. Fatigue and pain weighing him down.

"Put him here" Someone said, he sounded like Clint. Tony was lifted easily off the ground and laid down on a soft surface. Keeping his fists balled in Buckys' shirt and face pressed against his chest.

"Get me a towel and a blanket please" Bucky asked.

"I'll get it" Sam answered, his footsteps receded and then approached the two. He handed Bucky the towel first. He started to dry Tony's hair, ruffling it slightly, not moving him from his place tucked against his chest.

"Here are some clothes I found" Wanda said, passing Bucky a clean and dry pair of sweats and a t-shirt.

"Alright, turn away" he bend down, pulling tony away from him for a moment. "You're too cold doll, can I help you into these clothes?"

Tony in his pain filled exhausted delirium nodded and felt as Bucky slipped the wet and blood covered shirt off, quickly replacing it with a soft dry shirt. Then moving onto the jeans, moving quickly and slipping on the warm sweats.

Tony leant his throbbing head agains a pillow someone placed beneath his head.

"Thank you" he mumbled before falling asleep, or losing consciousness.

Either way he was safe, at least for now. Surrounded by the strangest group of people, people who used to hate him but now seemed to care for him.
