Chapter 11
The school had been exhausting today. To be fair, it's exhausting every day. There needn't be an explanation as to why there are many reasons why. Mainly because it uses up effort. Peter didn't mind effort, he loved using his brain and working out problems. Even so, he also liked to have his breaks too.
Today hadn't been very much like the others, there weren't hard as much bullying and torment towards him than usual. Flash and his group stayed away, well for the most part. They still had their way of words, and little shoves every now and again. But today, it just seemed like a down low.
And so, he more a less had a normal school day.
It's just, what made Peter's day exhausting. Is the constant tenseness he had in his back and legs, the sort of tenseness you have when expecting something to happen. Just like he expected Flash or his goons to be after him.
I guess, since the strange drug in his locker. Today couldn't have gotten any more suspicious.
When Peter entered the apartment, he didn't expect to see his mentor at his kitchen table. Mason and May joining, each sporting their own hot drink of their choice.
Yep, today could get more strange.
"Hey, kid. How's school been for you today?" Tony asked, yellow-tinted shades covering his eyes.
Peter shrugged, throwing his bag on the sofa. "Normal, I guess."
He wanted to ask why the man is here, but then he would have come off as being rude. When really, he's just curious as to why.
"Take a seat Pete, Mr Stark has something to discuss with you," Mason stated, kicking out a chair from the table for Peter to take a seat at.
Peter looked between the adults in the room, biting his lip as he sat down. He waited to hear what the man had to say. Is this the end of the road for him, has he changed his mind to wanting a new intern. Is he not good enough.
His thoughts got disturbed, for his name kept on being repeated.
"Huh?" The boy blinked, confused.
"Was you not listening? Use your manners, Mr Stark was talking to you." Mason kicked his shin under the table, a scowl on his face.
"It's all fine, don't worry about it kiddo. Anyway, what I was saying. Is, there is launch the new Stark Technologies laptop. I wondered if you would like to tag along, get front row seats?" The man asked, drinking from the cup in his hands.
"It would be a nice offer to take upon, right Peter?" Aunt May piped up, offering one of her gentle smiles. "Gives you the experience, at least."
"You really want me to go?" Peter couldn't help but inquire confusedly. Presuming he wouldn't either be allowed to go or his Aunt wouldn't be able to let him leave. As humiliating as it is, he's her baby boy.
"Of course, " Tony chuckled in. Uncertain as to why the boy had to ask such. "I just came here to discuss everything with you and your Aunt. The event is in Germany so we'll be gone for about a week and a half. Don't worry though kiddo. It won't all be about work. They have some of the best restaurants. Have you ever had McDonald's from Germany? So good."
Peter knows that Tony is only trying to sweeten the deal, but the thought of being away from May for that long of a time period is almost too much to bear. He just had his first-ever sleepover less than a month ago, and now Mr Stark expects Peter to get on a plane and go to a different country for over a week?
This is all moving too quickly, though he couldn't deny how the man's words made him feel a tad excited.
"I... I don't know," the young intern speaks into his lap before another kick to his shin has him snapping his head back up.
Be polite, right.
"It'll be alright, Peter," his Aunt soothes while reaching a hand to cover his own. "Mr Stark even brought you a new phone so you can call us every day."
"But that won't be necessary, right?" Mason interjects before smoothly continuing. "You will be having too much fun to even bother us." The taunt statement may have come across as teasing to some, but to Peter. It left him feeling degraded and miserable.
Although there's a part of him, that wanted to show Mason he could go a week without phoning the everyday.
"And of course, you won't have to worry about school. As I'll contact them. You'll be excused for the days you will miss." Tony quickly asserted. Wanting to make that point clear.
"Well..." Peter trailed out. Still a little unsure, but keener to go along with this proposal.
It appears, the adults have been talking long before Peter walked into the apartment and the hopeful look on May's face causes something to ache inside of Peter. Has he been too much for her? Too needy? Maybe Mason is right and they both could use some time away from him. Some space where it's just the two of them.
With that final thought, Peter gives his answer with an upmost satisfactory fake smile plastered on his face, to hide the hurt he truly feels.
"I'd love to go, Mr Stark."

"Kid, you're going to be fine. I think your nerves itself could run this car. Never mind the engine." Tony cracked a little joke, attempting to make the kid whose two seats over from him smile.
It had the desired effect.
"I don't know if that could be possible sir. It would be amazing if somehow it could be manageable," The boy rambled. His mind wandering down an alley of thoughts.
With the right theories, deductions and precisions. It could be done.
"there's the Underoos I first met. Change nothing kid, your good at being yourself." The billionaire winked. Hundred per cent meaning it.
Why change yourself, when being your true self is just twice as awesome.
Going to Peters view of things, with the drugs packed in his bag. It made him feel guilty beyond anything he's ever felt. It literally tugged at his heart, as his idol basically told him not to change. When basically, this drug he found in his locker is saying otherwise.
If only the man knew.
Peter liked to say he didn't pack much. But Aunt May had pushed him into redoing it, for he had not included everything.
Embarrassing as it is. He had to pack his nappies. As he still wet. But perhaps he didn't need them, for this tablet should take effect. He would have infused more, and not act so little.
Here's to hoping that idea worked.
"Mr Stark, we're at the airport. You have twenty minutes before the flight," came a voice from the front. It belonged to Tony's personal driver, Happy.
Tony replied back in acknowledgement, letting Happy know he heard him. "Ready kid? We're meeting Pepper here, she'll have our tickets and plane sorted. The cheek of the woman doesn't trust me with organising," the shade wearing male mused.
When the duo got to the airport, Peter hadn't expected the car to drive up outside the plane they would be boarding. His stunned thoughts soon resting on the realization, that Mr Stark is a billionaire and he could have his own private jet.
As the pair step out of the car, Peter returns back to his stunned silence as arms suddenly envelop him. Coming to another quick realisation of who they belonged to, Ms Potts. Her arms wrapping around his frame, cuddling the boy close for a few seconds.
"Hi, Peter. Did you have a good drive? Are you all ready to go?" The woman asked, her smile warm and inviting. She stood up straight, the elastic of her heartstrings coming to a near snap. As she saw the young interns disappointed facial expression.
If she could, she would have hugged him longer. But they have a plane to board.
"Did you pack everything you need?" Pepper followed on, taking on a concerned look. The crinkle's by her eyes showing.
Tony rolled his eyes, putting a hand on one of the boy's shoulders. "I think his Aunt got him sorted out, right kid?" Tony winked, Peter again nodding. "Besides, we can always buy whatever he needs if he runs out of anything.". Tony directed the last part to his fiancé, Peter standing between the two awkwardly.
" Alright, if you say so Tones. Now let's get going, we have a schedule to maintain."
The trio boards the plane, their luggage already packed into the compartment. Upon boarding, Peter did a poor choice in choosing his seat. A window seat.
He thought the view would be an amazing thing to witness from this far above, seeing the fog of clouds and the odd passing bird.
Even if it did have its perspectives of being a good idea, it didn't make the panic building up in his chest decrease any.
The altitude of the plane causes the young brown-haired to tense up and panic, his throat feeling as though it's closing in and his fingers gripped the seat. The plane starting up is always the most unpleasant feeling, including landing back down again.
He shuts his eyes tightly, as they begin to ascent.
Peter must have created a noise of discomfort, for a sudden hand is on his arm. Jerking back, eyes wide as if caught in a pair of headlights. The expression rendered the boy into a ball of cuteness, it took every fibre of Peppers body to not crush him in a hug. Instead, the woman took to kneeling down beside the young lad.
"I'm sorry, " Peter immediately apologises. Automatically assuming he must be a bother, as the delightful woman felt the need to get up and assist his displeasure. "I've never-"
"You've never flown?" Pepper finished, giving a light chuckle as the boy stared at her in a gawking manner. "It's alright, I was a little uneasy on my first flight too, " the red-haired gently states easily. Her expressions and words bringing the boy to a calmer state of mind, his freaked out state lessening a little.
If Pepper -on her first flight- behaved the same way he is doing now, then surely he isn't acting like a baby; Ms Potts isn't a baby.
"How about we first close this, " Pepper reaches up from her kneeled position and pulled the shutter of the window closed."Now we can sit together, then neither of us will be as scared."
Peter doesn't need to give a direct answer, as Pepper places herself on the empty seat beside Peter. Letting put a tiny surprised squeak, when the woman moves the armrest from between them up. Pulling him into another warm embrace, his head laid against her chest. His eyes automatically closing as he felt safe, and the fact he didn't sleep well last night.
His mind overthinking different scenarios, about how Tony Stark would find out his biggest secret.
Perhaps a few moments rest would make him feel in better spirits. After all, this is going to be a very long flight.
When his mind went totally blank, and sleep took over. He couldn't help but to thank all that's good for taking his medication that morning.
