Chapter 12: Halloween Party

John

Alex and I headed over to Eliza's dorm, hand in hand. She had said something about Halloween costumes for the whole squad.

We didn't even have to knock.

"Hey guys!" Eliza chirped up. She picked up some costumes and threw them at us. "Go put these on."

I walked into the bathroom and Alex followed me. I closed the door and locked it with a click. Alex put his costume on the sink and sat down on the counter and looked at me expectantly.

"What?" I said as I started to take off my shirt. I stepped over to him and put my hands on his thighs.

He kissed me and tangled his hand in my hair. I inched my hands farther up his thighs.

"No gay sex in my bathroom!" I heard from down the hall.

I rolled my eyes and pulled myself away from him. He whined and grabbed me by my jeans.

I smiled. "Not here Alex."

We changed into our costumes and stepped out. We had on revolutionary war costumes.

Eliza had changed into a blue dress with a hoop skirt and Peggy had come back with a yellow dress in the same style as Eliza's.

"Is Angie coming with us?" I asked. She was only about a week into her pregnancy.

"Probably not. She's with Jefferson and she doesn't want to drink while she's pregnant."

I nodded. "We ready?"

We finally arrived at Charles Lees house. It was a big mansion with white walls and a beautiful green lawn.

Laf, Herc, and Aaron were already here.

Alex and I strode up the stars and into the living room.

Music blasted from the speakers and a strong scent of alcohol filled the air.

I took a deep breath and walked up the steps with John. "You okay?" he asked.

I looked around at the porch full of people drinking and smoking. "Y-yeah. I'm fine."

He nuzzled his face in the crook of my neck and kissed my cheek.

After about an hour of just drinking, Alex separated himself from me. I hung out with Peggy and Eliza.

I sighed, missing Alex a little bit. "Hey guys, I'm gonna go find Alexander."

Peggy hugged me and I walked out of the living and into the den. People were kissing, drinking, smoking.

I finally spotted Alex and started walking towards him. But I stopped dead in my tracks.

I felt a pit of dread and sadness in my stomach.

Alexander was standing in a corner, with a drunk Samuel Seabury on his lips.

I felt a lump in my throat and tears run down my face.

I ran out of the room, passing Eliza and Peggy.

"John?" I heard Eliza say. I ignored her and ran out the door and onto the porch.

I looked up at the moon. I hope Alexander enjoys Seabury.

I took a deep breath and ran towards the woods.

Alex

Seabury pulled me into a kiss. Everything left my mind and I kissed him back. Then,I pulled away from him, remembering John.

"I'm sorry, but this," I said swirling my finger in the air between us, "can't happen."

He grabbed my hand. "Sure it can.."

He started to trace his fingers down my arms. I snatched away from him and went out to the porch.

I pulled out my phone and texted John.

HamilHam: Where are you??????

No response.

Peggy and Eliza ran past me.

"Guys! Where's John?"

"We don't know. He just ran out here crying and we don't know where he went after that," Eliza said.

"Let's go look for him," Peggy said.

John

I ran into the woods and didn't stop for a little while. I finally ran out of breath and sat down at the base of a tree. How could he do this to me? Especially with Samuel Seabury.

I put my head between my legs and just cried until I couldn't cry anymore.

My phone vibrated in my pocket.

HamilHam: Where are you??????

HamilHam: John plz!

HamilHam: John plz answer me!!!!!

I ignored the texts from Alexander and answered to the ones from Eliza.

SinnamonRoll:3: John, honey where are you?

🐢🐢🐢: In the woods

SinnamonRoll:3: Okay. I'm coming to find you.

I held my phone in my hand and looked at the sky. It felt like Alexander had took my heart and smashed it into a million pieces.

"John?!" I heard Eliza's motherly voice call out.

"Over here!" I called out.

Eliza ran over to me with her dress skirts pulled up. She sat next to me and cupped my face in her hand.

"Did you hurt yourself?" she asked looking me up and down.

I shook my head.

Peggy came over to us too. And then the person I didn't want to see. Alexander fucking Hamilton.

He rushed to my side and grabbed my hand. "John are you alright?!"

I snatched my hand away from him. "Leave me alone Hamilton."

Out of the corner of my eye, I could see him give a sad look, then a look of realization.

I stood up. "I'm going back to my dorm."

"I'll drive you home," Eliza offered.

We finally made it out of the woods and to Eliza's car. Peggy and I sat in the back, Eliza and Alexander upfront.

When we made it back to the dorms, I thanked Eliza and rushed to my dorm.

I made it to my room and threw myself on my bed.

Some of Alexander clothes were on the floor. I looked at them in disgust and kicked them out the door. I changed out of my costume and into my pajamas.

I locked the door. Maybe, I can get a good night sleep.

My phone vibrated.

HamilHam: John, baby plz answer me

🐢🐢🐢: Fuck off

HamilHam: I'm sorry. I rlly am

🐢🐢🐢: It's to late to apologize, Alexander. What's done is done. You should've known not to kiss him. You were mine, not his. Idc if you drunk or not, but you rlly fucked up.

HamilHam: John, Ik what I did was wrong. He came on me first. I swear on my life John. I would never do anything to hurt you at all. Plz give me another chance.

HamilHam: I love you with all my heart John. I would bleed and fight for you. I promise it will never happen again.

HamilHam: Plz

I didn't answer the message. I rolled over and fell asleep.
