Chapter 31
Day 11 Part 2 - "I hope you find happiness"
I flinched when my own phone ringtone blared from the bedroom, breaking my trance, and I dashed into the room to see who was calling me.
"Aunt?"
What is she trying to talk with Jungkook? Or does she already think that we switched back?
Taking it, I drawled, "Yes?"
A little chuckle sounded from the other line and she sang, "So when's the wedding?"
"What the..."
"You two finally accepted each other, right? I called your phone to make sure and I was right! You're switched back!"
My brows knotted in deep confusion. "How do you know that? We might have used the charm bracelets...?"
"Oh, silly dear," she guffawed. "Those bracelets aren't magical at all!"
I choked on my spit. "What?!"
"They're hoax! Just a little push for you two to come in terms with your feelings. And it worked!" She hurrayed through the line. "Now when's the wedding?!"
Oh my freaking gosh... She played me again!
"Aunt, you...!" I clenched the phone tighter as hard as my jaw tightening in irritation. "You're so...!"
"Genius? Amazing? Lovely lovely?" She giggled.
"Unbelievable," I huffed out before giving in to her laugh, chuckling myself. "But yeah, those, too."
"I know, dear. Well then, now that your problem is solved, I'm going on my vacation again, so I might not be reachable for a few months. Don't call me unless it's a news about your marriage, okay?"
This woman...
"Okay, aunt," I cackled. "Take care."
After hanging up, I took a deep breath and walked over to my wardrobe to change into my office wear.
💫💫💫
"Morning!"
Jina waved at me as she skipped over to my desk with a very happy expression like she was about to burst any second.
"Morning, Jina. Someone looks real cheerful...?" I smirked a little.
"Okay, so, this morning, I woke up feeling like shit because it's fucking Monday, right?" I breathed out a laugh, nodding my head. "But then! When I checked my phone for notifications, my eyes almost popped out when I found a message from- who do you think?!"
My eyes darted around the room, trying to think of a name. "Uhh..."
"Kim freaking Namjoon!" She slammed my desk repeatedly and bounced around, screaming quietly.
I was utterly surprised. I never thought that he would actually consider my request. "Oh my..."
"And I just-" She covered her face with her hands after crouching down, trying so hard to contain her excitement and over the top emotions, almost breaking down. "I can die happily now..."
"Oh shush, no one's dying. Embrace this and live contently, girl," I chuckled and scooted over in my chair to pat her back.
"He actually asked me to meet him at a cafe later in the evening," she said, clearly in disbelief, looking at me with 'Is this real life?' expression. "Him? Asking me? What? How did he even know me?"
I gasped with a grin. "Oh, wow. I'm so happy for you, Jina. It was, um, actually me who told him about you."
Her eyebrows jumped as she looked at me baffled. "W-Wha..."
"So make me proud, okay?" I gave her a grin, showing her a thumbs up.
"I'm so nervous, what the heck," she exclaimed with worried tone, cupping her face, squishing her cheeks. "What if he regrets calling me? What if I disappoint him? What if I spill coffee on him because of nervousness? We wouldn't want two gods of destruction..."
God of destruction, goddess of destruction and baby angels of destruction... Sounds nice, to be honest...
"Just be your beautiful self, Jina," I hushed her, placing my hand on her shoulder to comfort her. "He'll like you."
She let out the breath she was holding and smiled sheepishly at me. "Thanks, Y/N."
I nodded as she stood up and walked over to her own desk, and turned my focus to my work before glancing at my phone.
I wonder what he's doing right now...
💫💫💫
Jungkook's POV
"Hyungs!"
I shouted in joy, running towards the six men who were gathered together in the changing room and pulling them all in a tight hug. Smiling like crazy, I was so happy to be back with my brothers again after such a painfully long time. Being separated from them was so so cruel... I missed goofing around and spending time with them so much.
"JK, are you crying?!" Hobi hyung exclaimed worriedly, glancing at everyone while pointing at my teary eyes.
I only giggled and rubbed my face into his shirt to hide my tears.
"Is there anything bothering you, maknae?" He asked, patting my back but I shook my head.
"I just missed you guys."
"But we were separated for a few hours," Yoongi hyung chuckled from beside me.
I pulled back to jump in his arms and mumbled, "Yes."
Few days, few hours, few minutes... It doesn't matter... I would still miss you all so much.
💫💫💫
After the photoshoot was over, I searched around the room for Y/N since she worked at this company but couldn't find her.
Maybe she's not part of the advertisement campaign crew.
I sighed before glancing at my phone in hand.
I wonder what she's doing right now.
The screen suddenly lit up when a message came from Miryeong.
My heart started pounding as I unlocked it to read the message.
My love ❤️: Jungkook, can we meet up after your work? I have something to tell you
I, too, had something to tell her so I agreed to meet at our usual meeting spot, a nearby cafe about thirty minutes later since my work today was over.
I just hoped that we could end it on good terms.
💫💫💫
"Hey, Kookie."
Miryeong gave me a soft, warm smile as she sat down before me and sighed before grabbing the menu to flip through the pages.
"How are you, Miryeong?"
My words unintentionally came out distant and foreign, but she didn't fret. Her smile didn't fall.
"I'm doing fine and that's quite surprising," she breathed out with a light chuckle and put down the menu before looking into my eyes. "And you? You seem more lively today."
I unknowingly smiled through my mask when Y/N filled my mind. "I'm good."
The waiter came up to us and she ordered a caramel latte while I ordered a blueberry smoothie.
"I called you to tell you that I'm leaving for Italy."
I froze in my seat as I stared at her in shock.
"As you know, my cousin lives there and I really wanted to go there for a long time after hearing her stories... I recently applied for a job there, just to try my luck, and surprisingly, I got accepted!" Her grin widened and her eyes glimmered in sheer happiness. "I couldn't believe it... I finally got the opportunity to fulfill my dream of becoming an artist and a designer."
I reached her hand to squeeze it, giving her a smile. "I'm happy for you, Miryeong."
She nodded. "And I also called you to break up... I can't continue deceiving myself when I clearly see that your heart lies in someone else and not me..."
My eyes fell on our hands clasped together as my smile faltered.
"I'm sorry for everything, Miryeong... I lied and neglected your feelings and there's really nothing to justify my actions..."
"I really cared for you, Kookie, and I hoped that I could at least mitigate the pain you were feeling..." Her thumb gently stroked my hand. "But now I understand that it's not me who could erase your pain, but Y/N, right?"
My heart jumped and I lifted my gaze to her. "What..."
She chuckled softly. "Your childhood friend was the one, right? I believe something must have happened between you two before that made you hurt like this, but I see that you're feeling better after she came back."
My eyebrows drew together. "How did you know?"
"The way you keep looking at her whenever you're together is obvious, Kookie. And how she owned your spare credit card?" She lifted an eyebrow and I bit my lips, feeling guilty. "There's no other explanation for them. I just hope you two resolve your problem so that you heal from your pain."
It was amazing how she still cared about me despite hurting her. It made me feel more and more ashamed for deceiving her.
"I like Y/N, too, and I hope you two find happiness." She finished with a sweet grin that made me feel like an asshole. "I don't know what came over you, but lately you've been sweeter to me and I'm thankful for that."
I smiled to myself. That's my baby Y/N being nice to you...
The waiter came back to place our drinks and we thanked him before grabbing our cups. I drank it halfway as my throat was freaking Sahara desert at that point.
"I just hate myself for dimming your bright light," I sighed.
She snorted before flipping her hair off her shoulders. "Ain't nobody can do that. I'll just keep holding the spark I lighted up for you within my own light and live for myself in Italy."
I knew she was feeling heartbroken inside but I admired how she didn't let it show and was ending it with good terms.
"Someone will love you like you're his whole world. You deserve someone better than me, Miryeong."
"Don't downgrade yourself like that, Kookie." She playfully slapped my arm before taking a sip from her latte.
"I hope you find happiness," I said wholeheartedly.
She gave me a soft smile.
"You, too."
