Chapter 3

B.S. Day 2 - "They're dating, aren't they?"

With a tight lipped smile, I gripped the swan pendant of my necklace and inhaled deeply before walking into the tall glass building.

My first day of work in Korea.

I just hoped I wouldn't embarrass myself in front of everyone because that would leave a terrible scar.

With another sharp inhale, I walked up to the receptionist. "Hello. I'm here for the human resource meeting...?"

The lady gave me a small smile. "Ah, yes. They're waiting for you in room number 703 on the 7th floor."

I nodded and walked to the elevator along with a few other employees who worked there. Once we entered the lift, they kept glancing at me as if they were somehow judging me.

Am I welcomed or not welcomed...

They got off one by one on each floor and I bit my lips, feeling irritated. Who even gets on an elevator to go to the second or third floors? There's this thing called stairs.

After five stops, I finally got off the torturous ride and strutted through the hallways and arrived at my destination, room 703.

Without knocking (since I was a little pissed), I opened the door and walked inside the meeting room where three other women were sitting around a round table in the middle. Their heads turned to my direction.

"Ah, miss Y/N," one of them with a coffee dress exclaimed, "please have a seat."

I obliged and walked over to the table to sit down beside them.

"So as you know, you have been assigned to the Corporate Travel Agent's position in the Corporate Travel department located at the fifth floor." She placed a contract before me. "Just sign your employment contract and you can start working today."

After signing and handing them the necessary documents, I thanked them and walked down the stairs to the fifth floor.

This time, I knocked on the door before entering.

One of the employees looked up at me from behind her screen before exclaiming, "Oh, you're the newcomer?"

"Yes. I'm Y/N."

All of the employees there welcomed me warmly and I felt at ease. It was fortunate that I was surrounded by all these nice people.

The senior lady explained what my job was and showed me my work desk and supplies. Since I had an experience of working before this, I was able to dive right into my work.

"Let's get it," I whispered to myself.

💫💫💫

It was lunchtime and I was invited by my colleagues to go out to eat together. I happily accepted their offer and we all left the building, arriving at a nearby restaurant.

Once I entered, the smell of marinated meat made my mouth water and stomach grumble. Sitting inside an office all morning sure was tough... Especially when you're not allowed food in there.

We took our seats at a far corner and started flipping through the menus.

Just give me all your meat here, please.

"I'll have bulgogi," I chimed after the waiter came up to us, and placed the menu down.

While waiting for the others to order, my eyes wandered the restaurant, going over every person who was there.

Staring was rude, but I didn't have anything else to do.

My eyes got fixed on a certain familiar looking hair of a guy who was sitting with his back facing me. Where have I seen that hair?

Staring at it for good five minutes, trying to figure out who he was, I got frustrated and was about to divert my eyes until the man turned his head to the side.

My eyes widened.

I looked at the person who was sitting in front of him. A girl with wavy dark brown hair that flowed past her shoulders gracefully, dark round eyes, small nose and thin lips. She looked innocent but poised and very gentle, someone you would see around animal shelters or heaven.

A heavy feeling of dread crept up my spine. Why was Jungkook sitting in a restaurant with her? Who was she?

I didn't want to jump to conclusions, but I couldn't help but think that she was his girlfriend.

I didn't want to believe that.

I hoped that she was someone else, someone who wasn't that special to him.

Whatever I did, my eyes kept going towards their table and I couldn't focus on my food anymore. My appetite was long gone.

They were laughing and chatting with each other, totally lost in their own world. Not to mention, Jungkook seemed to be having fun, giggling, exclaiming like a little kid, acting cute with his arms flailing around and shaking his head vigorously.

I couldn't handle it.

"I'll be going first," I told my colleagues and stood up before leaving the restaurant.

Crying was not an option.

Getting angry was not an option, either.

I just needed to cool my head and focus on my work.

I wasn't ready to hear the truth.

💫💫💫

"Y/N," Jimin shouted through my phone. "Pretty lady, wanna hangout?"

I chuckled. "Sure. You're free now?"

"Yep. How about we meet at Jin hyung's restaurant?"

"Um... Don't you think that's a bit risky?" I asked, a bit unsure.

"Not at all," he sang. "I'll be wearing a disguise."

Not the grandma clothes again, please.

I sighed. "Well then, if you say so... I'll be there in twenty minutes."

I packed my stuff and bid goodbyes to the others before heading out. Since I saw Jungkook at that restaurant, the rest of the day was a blur... I kept getting dazed and just couldn't focus on my work.

At least the day was over now.

After walking for a long while, I arrived at our rendezvous point and went inside.

Disguise, my ass.

Jimin was just wearing sunglasses, a beanie and a mask, sitting next to the window as the girls who were there stared at him and giggled among themselves.

I contemplated whether or not I should go to him and was about to leave when he spotted me, waving at me.

Shit.

Not glancing at the girls, I shuffled towards him and sat in front of him.

"So how was work?" His smile peeked through the mask.

I sighed. "Better than I expected, actually. I think I like it there."

"Well, you sure don't sound cheerful," he said, noticing my downcast state before taking off his glasses.

The girls squealed at that and Jimin looked at them surprised.

Why are you surprised?

"Actually," I drawled, looking at him cautiously.

"Yeah?" He waited.

"Is Jungkook... in a relationship now?"

The air around us shifted and tension was slowly building up. He froze in place with his eyes fixed on me.

"H-He is?" My voice quivered, eyebrows crashing together.

His adam's apple bobbed up and down as he swallowed thickly. "I-I didn't hear what you said... Can you, um-"

"I saw him with a girl in a restaurant I was in," I cut his words. "They're dating, aren't they?"

He sucked his teeth, facing down. "I'm sorry you had to find out that way."

I closed my eyes.

So it's true...

"It's fine, Jimin... Thank you for telling me the truth."
