Chapter 21
Day 4 Part 4 - "I just eat a lot, okay?"
Your POV
After the fansigning, the boys and I headed back to the main building to film some new contents for ARMYs before going out with the staff to have dinner. It got late, later than I expected.
I felt guilty when my mouth watered at the delicious sight of marinated and grilled meat laid out before us since I told Jungkook to cook for tonight. As much as I wanted to gobble up the myriad of delectable dishes, lured by their tempting smell, I couldn't bring myself to stab a piece of meat with the fork I was gripping.
"Come on, everyone! Raise your cups!" One of the managers exclaimed, bringing his own cup of soju up in the air with a wide grin. I took the full cup before me and held it up just like everyone else. When I looked to my right, I saw Jimin already downing a full glass and my eyes widened. Damn, he's really not here to play.
The manager continued, "Today's events went smoothly thanks to everyone's amazing efforts. Let us celebrate!"
Everyone cheered, clinking their cups and glasses, and drank them in one shot.
I, on the other hand, couldn't drink more than one gulp since I had to be sober when I arrive home. He was waiting for me.
I couldn't help but check the time every second and glance around the table, hoping that no one notices me holding myself back from eating. It crashed down when his name got called in between the small talks.
"Hey, Jungkook!"
I flinched and turned to look at one of the camera directors who called with an awkward smile.
"Yes?"
"Why aren't you eating? We ordered two times more than what we usually order since you kept complaining that you were hungry." He chuckled along with a few other staffs who sat around him. Namjoon who was sitting in front of me fixed his gaze on me. A worried one.
"Are you not feeling well, JK?" He asked while chewing on chicken.
I cleared my throat, shifting in my seat and giving him a forced smile. "No, I'm fine. Just... not that hungry right now..."
My stomach betrayed me, growling loudly, and I clutched it, looking around the room to think of something that could divert everyone's attention from me. My eyes fell on Jimin still drinking and I groaned louder than my stomach on purpose.
"Jimin-ssi! You're going to get alcohol poisoning at this point!"
He looked up at me with puppy eyes and whined, "No I'm not! You can't separate my alcohol from me!"
What the heck.
"Yeah, leave him be, Jungkook, a man needs some winding up sometimes,"Jin said while walking around the table and taking a piece from every dish there was onto his plate.
"Sometimes," I emphasized, shooting a glare at Jimin, warning him not to drown himself in black water. He saluted back with a grin and continued gulping whiskey now, making me pinch the bridge of my nose.
"Speaking of, what would you call Buzz Lightyear if he was an alcoholic?" Jin asked after sitting down, taking quick looks at everyone who were busy devouring food except me.
"Yeah?" Jimin asked with curiosity sparkling in his eyes.
"Buzzed Allyear," he replied and his signature laugh erupted, causing Namjoon to snort beside him and cover his mouth since he was eating.
"Imagine your childhood cartoon character being an alcoholic," Hoseok sighed softly on my right before grabbing another glass of beer.
"Jungkook," Yoongi called from my left and held up a meat to my mouth with his chopsticks. "Say ah."
I stared at him with big eyes, my heart swelling at his gesture.
"You should eat," he said in pout with a little whiny tone and I squealed internally before nodding and opening my mouth for him to put the piece of grilled meat in it.
"Wow," I unintentionally let out when tasting the savory meat.
"Delicious, right?" Taehyung poked his head out from behind Yoongi with a grin and I nodded. "So eat, Jungkook. You can't skip such good food!"
Well...
A few slices of meat wouldn't hurt...
With a sigh, I put some meat into my bowl of rice and started eating, unable to resist the intoxicating smell. But the more I ate, the more I felt guilt eating me in return.
💫💫💫
I sneaked out earlier than the others and drove back home by myself since I couldn't have Jungkook wait for me longer. I ignored the groans and disappointed expressions of the others, and slipped out of the chill atmosphere. They even pulled out the 'no jams' card... They would have taken another few hours at that rate.
It was already past eleven o'clock and I nibbled on my bottom lip as I stepped on the accelerator, racing back home. The thought of Jungkook sitting alone at home, waiting for me for hours was hurting my chest.
Running as fast as I could to my apartment, I swung the door open and stepped inside while huffing and panting harshly. The lights were still on, so I let out a small breath of relief when I realized that I wasn't too late.
I quickly took off my shoes and walked into the dining room, but stopped at the entrance when I found my body sleeping with its head laid against the table.
Jungkook was wearing my white long dress with cuff sleeves and white frilly headband on his head. I chuckled when I realized that he was trying to dress up as a maid for me. He really was serious, huh?
My eyes went over the feast, containing two plates of pasta, two plates of pork fried rice and a few plates of side dishes spread out on the table, untouched.
He didn't eat anything himself... waiting for me to come so that we could eat together...
My throat burned and eyes stung with tears, but I took a deep breath and walked over to him.
After kneeling down beside him, I gently shook his shoulder and whispered, "Kookie, wake up. I'm sorry for coming home so late. Did you wait for a long time?"
He hummed with a husky, sleepy voice with his eyes still closed, not moving a bit.
"You shouldn't sleep here," I said, brushing his hair, tucking it behind his ear, and standing up before placing a soft kiss on his cheek.
He finally opened his eyes and sucked in a breath when he saw me. "Y/N?" Rubbing his eyes, he lifted his head up and stretched while yawning like a baby. A very adorable baby.
"When did you come back?" He blinked his eyes, trying to fully wake up.
A silly smile was plastered on my face while watching him and I wiped the little drool off his chin, making him fumble with his messy hair.
"Just now... I'm sorry, Kookie. Your staff and members all went out for dinner and I came here as soon as I could but..." I turned to the meals he prepared, feeling my heart crumble.
"It's fine," he said with a small smile that was obviously forced. "I'm just glad that you ate something before coming home since you said you were starving."
"Why didn't you eat?" I searched his eyes.
"Uh..." He scratched his nape, glancing at the food. "I... wasn't feeling hungry."
Liar.
I took the plates of food to the kitchen, ignoring Jungkook's calls, and stirred them in the frying pan again, heating them up. After that, I brought them back to the dining room, holding Jungkook's hand to lead him there and pulled out a chair for him to sit before taking my seat on the opposite side.
"Thank you for the food!" I cheered and dug into the pasta, exclaiming in satisfaction when it tasted heavenly in my mouth. Truth be told, it tasted more delicious than the restaurant food. "Wow! This is really tasty!"
"Thanks," he chuckled, taking a bite from the pork rice. "But slow down, you already ate a lot before this-"
My stomach grumbled, cutting his words, and he looked at me incredulously.
I threw up my hands in defense with a huge smile while munching.
"What? I just eat a lot, okay?"
