Chapter 17
Day 3 Part 4 - "Learn to love each other again"
Your POV
The apartment was dark and heavy with silence when I entered it. Carefully not to make a noise, not even the squeaking sound of my feet against the wooden floor, I slowly walked through the lightless apartment to go to my room.
My heart jumped and I yelped in shock when my phone suddenly started ringing loudly, tearing the silence. I fumbled with it, trying to pick it up as quickly as I could while mumbling curse words.
"Yes," I whisper yelled.
"Y/N? It's Y/N, right?" My aunt repeated with a short laugh. "Of course it's you, you're still stuck in each other's body."
"What is it, aunt?" I exclaimed with a small voice, afraid that I might wake Jungkook up.
"Ah, it's already past midnight there, right? Sorry," she giggled. She sure was as lively as ever. "Anyway, one of my friends who owns a jewelry shop recognized your necklaces, dear."
My eyes widened, eyebrows jumping.
"As I thought, they were the reason for your little- I mean, huge problem. According to my friend, Evelyn, those swan pendants were carved from the moonstones that a star crossed couple gave each other as their parting gifts in a pretty much forgotten myth. Long story short, they were never able to meet again and one of them died from heartbreak."
What the-
"But," I let out in a whisper, my brain trying to process her words, "that doesn't sound like the necklaces got cursed...?"
"Oh, dearie... You never asked me why the earrings were cursed, so why are you questioning this?" She chuckled. "Those earrings were a parting gift of a prince who couldn't accept a news that the girl he loved, a princess from another country was dying from a terminal illness. What do you think might have happened?"
I pursed my lips. "H-He died instead of her?"
"Sadly, yes...The illness was somehow transferred to the prince and the princess miraculously survived. Perhaps his parting gift did something, don't you think so? Since then, the earrings were said to be cursed and then bam, as I expected, you two switched bodies."
"Wait... How did you know we would switch?"
She chuckled. "The shop owner was a fan of such things and told me those who wear the earrings would switch bodies from experience."
My breath hitched. "What experience?"
"That's classified information, she told me not to tell anyone," she cackled. "Anyway, doesn't that sound similar to the necklaces? I mean, it might not have caused your switching, but it might have triggered it. Your souls are already vulnerable to each other's, a little push in the wrong direction plus spiritual items would result in your souls going astray if you ask me."
That seems... plausible, unfortunately. "So the necklaces are the cause? What do we do?"
"Try doing what you did before... But it could be harder now since he, um... you know..."
"Yeah, I know," I sighed. "He's already in a relationship and the girl's nice, too... Coming in between them seems horrible."
"But you have to become one again. Your souls are going awry and they must find their way back home, to your own respective bodies. To do that, you must guide them to each other, hence uniting with each other."
A loud sigh escaped my lips. "Why can't my soul just find its home on its own? It lived in there for years already..."
"Oh, Y/N... Your body is already occupied, so your soul doesn't know it's your body. His soul must love yours unconditionally to give up that spot without fear, you know, just like yours. If any one of you is in doubt, that wouldn't happen."
That would be me.
"That might be you, because you don't know if it's safe for you to love him... It might be him, too. His heart may be confused right now with two girls in his life... Damn, he's going places."
"Aunt," I hissed, rubbing my face. "That was unnecessary."
"Sorry, I just have to say this... International playboy," she exclaimed and a cackle followed.
"Oh my god," I drawled, rolling my eyes.
"I got off subject... So tell me, what progress did you make since you switched?"
Oh wow... Now that I think about it, we never made any real progress...
"Um..."
"Did you two kiss?"
I cringed. "Uh, yes? But it didn't work..."
"Of course it won't work, silly. Kissing while being confused won't work. But it might help your broken relationship... Also, just making up won't work, either. You must love each other unconditionally again."
"What the f-"
"You did it before... Doing it again wouldn't be harder than the first time... Why don't you break up with his girlfriend?"
"Aunt, what the heck? I can't do that!" I covered my mouth when I said that louder than I thought and glanced at Jungkook's door.
"Then tell her you need a break. Blatantly lying to her that you're Jungkook is bad. Put yourself in her shoes, would you like that?"
No...
"Breaking it off sooner is better. After you two switch back, it's up to Jungkook if he wants to go back to her... or not. I hope not..."
"Why are you still shipping us? After hearing that he got a girlfriend, don't you feel hurt or angry or anything?"
"Oh shut up. You cut him off first, Y/N," she deadpanned.
Ouch...? "But that was for him! I must have been a nuisance and a huge pain in the ass, coming to his life uninvited!"
"Mhmm, did he say that you were a nuisance?" Her tone sounded bored.
"In fact, yes, he did. He said that I never should have came into his life with those fucked up earrings," I exclaimed with a shaky voice, my throat constricting in pain and my eyes blurring with tears. "He hated my presence that much! Shouldn't I disappear from his life if he thinks that way?"
"Honey... don't let that get to you," she hushed, trying to soothe me. "He must have lashed out and accidentally said that. I'm sure he doesn't really mean it."
"At this point, I don't care," my voice broke. "He tells me that I'm important and then he tells me that I'm a nuisance. He tells me that he loves me and then he got himself a girlfriend. I don't know what to think anymore."
My tears came flowing down as I couldn't contain them anymore.
"I don't want to be hurt, but he keeps hurting me. And I keep hurting myself, too. I want to keep him happy and not bother his life or relationship, but I want him to love me and not hurt me anymore." I sobbed uncontrollably, hiccuping every now and then. All my pent up emotions burst out along with my tears. "I don't know where my heart lies. I don't know where his heart lies. I don't know anything."
"Your heart lies in him and his heart lies in you... Let it guide you if you're unsure of his feelings. Don't cry, my dear," she kept hushing me. "Everything will work out fine, just don't lose faith. You should sleep now. Talk to him tomorrow, okay?"
I hummed, nodding while wiping my tears and sniffing.
"It's not only you, but the two of you. So don't worry too much about it. Don't think about anything, just learn to love each other again."
I huffed out a sigh to calm down my sobs. "Okay..."
"Good night, dear."
"Good night, aunt..."
She hung up and I stood there, before my door with my hands rubbing my face.
I looked back at Jungkook's door. There was no sound so I figured he was still sleeping.
I just hoped he didn't listen to my conversation and quietly walked into my bedroom.
We'll talk about it tomorrow.
