Chapter 13
Day 2 Part 3 - "They're sacred creatures"
Your POV
"Okay, buy guys!"
Jungkook and I waved at everyone before walking out of the building to head home after a long day.
Miryeong already left earlier since she had to run for an errand for her parents. The girl was really baffling, considering how she took a liking to Jungkook in my body. I wondered what he told her to make her have such a good impression of me.
I heaved a sigh after we both climbed inside his car. "I can't believe the three of us will be hanging out together..."
He hummed before buckling his seatbelt and turning on the engine to drive us back to his own apartment. We were supposed to continue our talk from early in the morning.
"What did you tell her about me?"
He let out a long hum before saying, "Nothing special."
"Like what?"
"You don't have to worry about that."
I groaned internally and we continued to drive in silence until we arrived before his apartment.
"You're not wearing a mask," he reminded me. "Even though it's night, being cautious wouldn't hurt."
I cursed out loud before grabbing a mask from my bag and quickly putting it on.
We got off the elevator and went into his home, exhaustion and sleepiness filling the four walls as we dragged our feet through the rooms to change and wash up before dropping ourselves on the couches.
"Takeout?" He offered.
My stomach grumbled loudly like a thunder tearing the sky, and I whined, "Why do you eat so much? I eat three plateful of food and I still get hungry. What is your stomach made of? Black hole?"
He cackled, sitting upright before tying his long hair up in a perfect bun. How the fu-
"First of all, I'm a male. Second of all, I dance and workout a lot everyday which means I need lots of nutrition. Third of all, I was just born that way." He snorted near the end.
I rolled my eyes and gestured him to order something. The both of us couldn't be bothered to cook anyway.
After having some steaks, spicy chicken and jajangmyeon delivered, we sat down around the diner table to eat them while having a conversation.
"Do you think we'll switch back tomorrow?"
I really hoped so. "Maybe..."
"What do you think breaks this curse?"
How am I supposed to know that?
"Didn't we agree that making up would? Our argument caused this, right?"
"Honestly, I'm not so sure," he mused, chewing his chicken slowly. "I can't help but think that our necklaces had something to do with it though... They're nothing special, but still."
"Are you saying," I started with a low voice, bringing up the item around my neck, "that this necklace is actually the cause of our switching?"
He nibbled on his bottom lip for a moment before nodding slowly. "The first time we switched, your earrings did the thing... This time, it must be my necklaces."
"What are you-" I rubbed my eyes, sighing. "Are you telling me these necklaces were cursed, too?!"
He shrugged. "Just an argument wouldn't go as far as to switch souls."
What the actual fuck is happening anyway?
I stood up from the table and walked over to my bag on the couch to grab my phone and dialed my aunt right away. If someone was to know about bizarre things like this, it was her.
"Sorry, the number you have dialed-"
I hung up.
"She's not available right now," I hissed, throwing my phone away before walking back to the table in front of Jungkook. "She will call me back when she's available."
He nodded, poking his leftover steak. It seemed like he couldn't eat a lot unlike me who was shoving every piece of food I could get my hands on into my mouth.
"Are you showering tonight?"
My heart got stuck in my throat as I stopped chewing.
How can I do that?
I furiously shook my head. "We're showering in our own bodies tomorrow when we switch back." I refused to shower no matter how disgusting it felt.
I just wiped my body with a damp towel again and washed my hair after finishing my meal.
However, I didn't know how long I could keep it up.
"Good night, Y/N," Jungkook exclaimed before walking into the guest's room.
I was about to walk into my room as well but my phone suddenly rang and I gasped when it was my aunt calling me.
I quickly took it. "Aunt?!"
"Oh... Hello, Jungkook. Where's Y/N? She called me."
I gulped before uttering, "It's me aunt... I-I'm in Jungkook's body... Again."
After a brief silence, she gasped out loud. "What?! You wore the earrings again?! You idiot girl, what are you-"
"No no, I already gave away the earrings after we broke the curse, but now... we're switched again and I don't know why," I whimpered, clutching the phone tighter. "We had an argument about me leaving him altogether and him getting a girlfriend and trying to forget me, saying he was hurt after what I did... And then, the day after that, we got switched again. What do I do?"
A tear unknowingly ran down my cheek from the overwhelming emotion that I was feeling. The whole ordeal was beginning to terrify me as I didn't know what to think.
"Calm down, honey," she hushed me through the phone and I took in a deep breath. "Jungkook got a girlfriend and wanted to forget you, you say?"
I hummed.
"Honestly, I don't blame either of you. Both of your choices weren't wrong, but they still ended up hurting you both," she sighed. "They ended up causing a rift between your souls, separating you two... Is there anything you two share, like the earrings that might have caused this?"
My mind went to the necklaces and I brought mine up to inspect the swan pendant. "Jungkook gave me this swan necklace that was apparently a couple item."
"A swan?"
"Yes?"
"Honey... do you know what swans symbolize?"
I thought for a while before mumbling, "No."
"Swans represent true love. They mate for life and when they lose their soulmate, they experience severe heartbreak that often leads to their death... That's why they're sacred creatures."
My breath hitched.
Why did he buy such a necklace? It couldn't have possibly-
"I'll ask others about that necklace. Send me its picture."
I felt beyond relieved to have someone like her to help me in such a dire situation. I didn't know what I'd do without her.
"Don't worry too much about it, honey. Worrying about something that you don't know how to fix will only affect your mental health. Get some rest, okay? Even though you two are fighting now, you're in this together, so work with each other."
I nodded, wiping my tears. "Thank you, aunt."
After hanging up, I entered my room and sat down on the bed, facing the door.
She's right. Jungkook's right, too. There's no use lingering on the pain I feel about his relationship. The sooner we make up, the better.
"Y/N?"
I jumped when Jungkook suddenly walked in through the door before slowly striding towards me.
"I overheard your conversation," he whispered, standing right before me as I looked up at him. "You were crying."
I looked away. "No, I wasn't."
I flinched when his arms wrapped around my form, bringing me closer to him before his hands ran through my damp hair, gently caressing me.
"Tell me when you're feeling down, whenever you're about to cry," he said under his breath, still stroking my head soothingly. "You shouldn't be crying alone like this, Y/N."
My tears welled up even more after hearing his words, but I nodded and buried my face further, embracing him back.
"Everything will be fine tomorrow..."
