Chapter Nine - In My Eyes
OMIGOD. I just watched Naruto Shippuden movie 2: Bonds, and it was FRICKING AWESOME!!!!!
Naruto and Sasuke actually worked together!!! In a shippuden time period thingy!!! Sasuke was really emoish though... he didn't talk much. But he was shirtless about five times!!!!!!!!!!!! Lol.
God I can't wait to write Shippuden for this fic. It's gonna be AWE-SOME!!!
So yeah. My inspiration (And irritating Sasuke fetish) has returned, hence the fact that it is 02:07 am here in Britain and I'm STILL awake writing this instead of sleeping. But I'll probably write some and then finish it tomorrow- or I should say later xD
But anyways, enjoy~!
P.S. I'm gonna write in some of the OVA's and extra episodes etc, like 'Sasuke's paw encyclopedia' and 'The Crossroads'. If you haven't seen these episodes, then you probably don't know what the hell I'm on about, so don't worry about it. Certain parts of future chapters will be unfamiliar is all, but I'll probably name it as an OVA or whatever instead of a song title from Panic. Like, when I do get to the crossroads, the name of the chapter will be 'The crossroads'. And that's coming up soon, cuz that OVA is right after the land of waves arc.
P.P.S- I made a mistake in the previous chapter. I would change it, but no one will go back and read the change so I'm not going to bother. I'll just explain it here.
The incident where Naruto and Sasuke come in and tell the others that they climbed all the way to the top of the trees... yeah... pretend that that didn't happen. Cause it kinda mucks up the plot line for future chapters. That was supposed to happen in later chapters.
So if I get any comments saying 'you idiot! The part about Naru and Sasu already happened last chapter!' I'll know you haven't read the author comments.
Seriously, people! We put these here for a reason! I hate explaining these things twice!

"Gnnnh..."
I cracked my eyes open, then flinched and shut them again. Damn sunlight...
I rolled away from it, only to be rewarded with pain as my head thumped in the wall. I sat up, and rubbed my poor forehead. "Oww.."
I stretched, my back cracking painfully, and opened my eyes. They soon snapped wide.
I was in the dining room!
You'd think that my comrades and friends would have the decency to carry me to my room if I fell asleep because of their boring conversation! But no! they just leave me here, and now my back freaking hurts! The nerve of those guys!
I stood up, stretching again and rubbing my (still sore) forehead. That was gonna have a bruise on it tomorrow.
Yawning, I went out of the door, grabbing some breakfast on the way. It was still early, I could feel it, but it was so nice and sunny out that I decided to go for a walk to wake myself up a bit before guard duty. I ended up walking down a foresty path, back toward the place where we had done the tree climbing thing.
Once I was almost there, I spotted something orange. Naruto.
Something pink was beside him. Sakura?
I realised that the pink I could see was a kimono, and shook my head. No... not Sakura... so who?
I walked closer, and made out that it was a girl. I couldn't help but smirk stupidly a bit in humour. Naruto was with a girl? And a pretty one at that.
I heard a slight 'shff' noise, and turned quickly, but soon relaxed. "A closet pervert, yes, but I never had you pinned as a stalker, Shady Uchiha."
Sasuke revealed himself reluctantly, leaping down from a branch overhead. He looked embarassed, but impressed. "Your sensory skills are getting sharper."
I nodded, and grinned. "Yep!" I then turned back to the scene of Naruto and Mystery Girl number one, just in time to see her walking towards Sasuke and I. But then she stopped.
"But you should know... I'm a boy." My eyes widened, and I turned and jumped at Sasuke. He looked scared, but not as scared as I did, as I clung to him, crushing his head in my arms.
"Transvestite." I whispered in horror, watching wide eyed as the girl/boy passed us and walked away. I relaxed as he/she went out of sight, but did not move. I sensed a weird movement, and noticed that Sasuke was twitching weirdly. I shuffled down, and put my face right up close to his, staring him in the eyes.
"Something wrong?" I asked, confused by the redness of his face. Then, I was suddenly on the floor.
"Stop touching me, damnit!!" he fumed. and I just blinked at him, then got to my feet and pouted at him.
"Why don't you like me touching you? I hug Naruto-kun all the time, he doesn't seem to mind!" I folded my arms, but the Uchiha just ignored me and went over to Naruto. I huffed. This... this is bullyism. I swear.
I sighed heavily, then went and joined them.
"So, Naruto-kun? Who was that?" I asked, and he looked up at me.
"Some boy who just wanted to talk to me for a bit." he stood up brushing himself down. He seemed pretty subdued this morning; I wonder what was up with him?
"Oh, okay." I frowned. That person... I wonder what he was up to? What could he possibly want to talk to Naruto about? I grinned. "Hey, Sasuke."
Sasuke sighed, seeming annoyed. "What?"
Well, at least he didn't ignore me. "That boy... I bet that's how you'd look as a girl. Really girly." I paused in thought, looking at the sky as the two boys started towards their trees for another day's training. "You are a pretty boy as it is..." I spared him a glance. He was positively fuming. One of these days, he's going to kill me...
Naruto was just laughing, and Sasuke glared at him, then back at me as I continued.
"Or maybe you'd be really butch?" I thought for a moment, "I'm really curious now..." I then grinned, an idea coming into my head. I turned to Naruto,"Naruto, you should teach Sasuke the Sexy jutsu, then we could see what he'd look like as a girl!"
"No way!" Both boys yelled together, and I just laughed. But then I grinned at Sasuke evilly.
"One of these days, it will happen." I said, and he just edged further away from me warily. I laughed some more, stuffing my hands in my pockets.

It was finally the seventh day of training; almost a week since the fight with Zabuza. Kakashi-sensei still wasn't fully healed, and the two boys still hadn't gotten a hold on the tree climbing task. I had had many more days of boring guard duty on the bridge with Sakura- insert yawn here- but things were looking up as I watched Naruto run up to a high branch while I sat at the bottom of the tree. Sasuke had joined us a little later than when I got here, and Naruto had been here overnight.
"Well done, Naruto-kun! You're finally getting the hang of it!" I enthused, before turning off to the side and muttering, "Now maybe I won't be stuck on my own with Sakura anymore..."
"Where did Naruto go this time?" I heard a familiar voice sigh, "Pushing himself beyond his limit and going out by himself last night..."
"And that baka Sachi always disappearing before any of us can stop her every morning, along with Sasuke-kun.." another voice said, a bit more whiney than the last.
Naruto and I looked over, and saw Kakashi and Sakura walking toward the training area, obviously looking for us. Sakura was trying not to go all fangirly, but it was pretty obvious that she was pissed about 'her' Sasuke following me every morning. I didn't ask him to, damnit! He just does!
I seriously think he's a stalker or something... maybe I should ask Sakura to trade rooms with me. Just in case he, you know, tries to rape me, or... yeah...
Ugghh... my head felt like Rhinoceros' were fighting monkeys in my head. All because they both were in love with the giraffe, but the giraffe was in love with the oompa loompa that lives on the rainbow on the other side of New Jersey- but nobody knows where New Jersey is so it's the mystery of the crocodile's dentures, and- sigh... long story short, I have a headache from sugar deprivation. All because I got a teensy bit hyped up on some pocky that Tsunami gave me yesterday. Now Kakashi-sensei has put me on a sugar ban, and I can't function properly without sugar!
"Yo! Up here!!" Naruto called, and the two of them looked up at us. I was on the branch above Naruto's now; I didn't want to get in the way of his little 'act', so had stayed on the ground.
Kakashi and Sakura both looked pretty surprised that he was so high up, and even more so when he slipped and started to fall.
"Naruto you idiot!" Sakura yelled, and Kakashi looked panicked. He was still on crutches, not healed enough to do anything. They both, however, gave a sigh of relief as he used his chakra to stick to the underside of the branch, then grinned at them.
"Give me a heart attack why don't you?!!" Sakura yelled, and Kakashi sweatdropped as Naruto continued grinning.
"That's all well and good Naruto but come down from there before you really do fall-" Kakashi cut off as Naruto's feet lost connection with the branch.
"Shit!" Naruto was falling for real this time. I leapt from my low branch to the trunk, and started to run up using my chakra, but someone else caught him before I did.
"Sasuke-kun!" Sakura gasped, then, in a more squealing tone, "Ooh, Sasuke-kun is so amazing! He gives me shivers!"
Okay... that just sounded wrong. I jumped down, not from very high, so I was okay. I glanced at Sakura disgustedly, "You give me shivers. And not the good kind."
Kakashi cleaared his throat as Sakura started to glare at me once more, then gave me a disapproving look. "Inappropriate, Sachi."
"Me?!" She was the one who-"I cut off as Kakashi folded his arms, and sighed, "Forget it."
Man, Kakashi was really starting to act like he was my dad or something. Always scolding me. Jeez.
But, in a weird way... I kind of liked it.
It was nice knowing that there would be someone on these missions to tell me right from wrong.
"In any case, Naruto, if you're going to stay out all night training at least come in for breakfast. If you don't eat you won't have the energy to train." Kakashi said boredly, and Naruto glanced at me, then grinned.
"But, Kakashi-sensei! Sachi-chan brings me breakfast every morning when she comes out here!" he said, jumping down and landing beside us. He grinned awhile longer, then scowled, "And brings Sasuke-teme with her every day like some kind of sheep."
"Urusei, Dobe!" Sasuke said annoyedly, landing with our group also.
The ensuing argument was cut off by a growling sound. Everyone looked to me, and I clutched my stomach in embarassment. Kakashi shook his head.
"Let me guess... you bring food for Naruto every morning without getting any yourself." Kakashi rose an eyebrow. "Baka."
"Urusei, sensei! I'm not a baka!" I said irritably, my temper shorter since I was hungry, "Naruto-kun just needs food more than I do! I can only carry so much!"
"Even so, we should go back to Tazuna-san's home now and get you some food... you have more guard duty today."
I just groaned, but complied. Another day of guard duty with Forehead... yay...

"And you take the herp," I motioned with my hands to one side, then moved them along as if pushing something, "And you put it with the derp."
Tazuna nodded and sighed, resting his chin in his palm. He looked at me, then stood up. "You have no idea what you're talking about, do you, kid?"
I shook my head and smiled, "Nope!"
"Tazuna," the old man turned as another old- but not quite as such- man called to him, "I've had enough. I want off the job."
"What?!" Tazuna asked, seeming shocked, "But you're one of our best workers!"
"I can't take the stress anymore! Gato won't hesitate to take any of us out, I have a wife and kids to think about! I can't take that risk!" the man said, "Just give it up, Tazuna! It's never gonna work-"
"You." I stood up, having had enough of hearing this crap. "It's all good and well if you want to give it up, so that your kids have a father. But don't try and tear down the last shred of hope this country has. From what I can tell, the old man's putting a lot at risk for this thing too, because the whole of the wave country will benefit from it. So if you're going, go. But don't try and persuade everyone else to quit with you."
The two old men, along with Sakura, seemed astounded. I can't say I blame them. It's rare for me to get so serious about things.
"The girl's right. I can't quit this job." Tazuna said, his eyes sorrowfully as he looked at the man. "This bridge is everyone's. It belongs to the community. If this works, our poor little Land of Waves will be able to prosper once more." I smiled, and Tazuna continued. "You may leave, if you want. I won't ask you to risk your own life."
After the man had left, I turned to Tazuna and grinned. "Forget him. What do you want me to do, Jiji?"
Tazuna blinked at me for a moment, then smiled, "Well, for starters, you can help me shift some of these beams."

When the day was finally done, I was exhausted. When I finished eating, I started to my room, only to see the door of Kakashi's wide open, with both Sakura and Tazuna sat on his back while he did one-handed push-ups. My eyes widened, and a beam of amazement worked onto my face. "Wow! I want in on this!"
I then ran over, exhaustion forgotten, and sat on his back as well. Kakashi was unfased, and just continued his push-ups.
"I take it you're almost fully-healed, then?" I asked, and Kakashi nodded. I suppressed my awe- he was barely breaking a sweat!
"178... 179... 180.." Kakashi counted, the slightest amount of breathlessness in his voice, "Yeah... I'm almost healed."
"Say... Mr Sensei, sir..." Tazuna asked, making all of us look to him, "I've been meaning to ask you... I duped you about the risks of this mission. Why do you stay?"
"'To know what is right and choose to ignore it is the act of a coward.'." Kakashi said, "'Like master, like man'. Thos are the teachings of some of the Leaf village's previous Hokage." I gazed at Kakashi in surprise, "True shinobi do not merely dance to the tune of whoever pays the piper."
'That's actually... kinda... cool...' I thought, then smiled. I was lucky to have such an awesome sensei.
"200... yosh." we all got off of Kakashi, and stood up. "Looks like I'll be able to help with guard duty tomorrow... and from the looks of their progress, so will Sasuke and Naruto... if they don't exhaust themselves too much today-"
Kakashi cut off as I launched myself at him, anime crying, "Yes! No more sitting around alone with Sakura!! Thank you, sensei!!!"
Aforementioned kunoichi growled, but Kakashi just patted my head. "O-kay... you should get some rest now though, you two. You have a long day again tomorrow."
"No way, sensei! I want to wait up for Sasuke-kun!" Sakura exclaimed, but I just let go of Kakashi and rubbed my eyes, yawning.
"Yeah, okay... I am pretty tired." I grinned, flexing my arm mockingly, "I did a lot of heavy lifting today, isn't that right, Jiji?"
Tazuna smiled, "Yeah."
I yawned once more, then slowly made my way out of Kakashi's room and to my own, plodding along tiredly.
"Night guys..." I called behind me, then shut my bedroom door.
I readied for bed, then flopped onto my futon, letting my eyes fall shut. But, before I could be sucked into unconsciousness, the door opened, and light flooded in my face. I squinted at the silhouette, and scowled.
"Uchiha!" I snapped, "Shut the damn door!"
"What if I don't want to?" He replied, smirking. I growled.
"Petulant bast-"
"SACHI!" the shout from the other room cut me off, and I growled again. Damn Kakashi...
"..." Finally, Sasuke shut the door, and I dropped my head to my pillow, burying my face in the softness, shielding it from the light that seemed intent on burning my eyes into raisins every time that damned Uchiha opened the bathroom door.
After a long period of time, Sasuke finally laid down in his own bed and stopped keeping me awake. Except he didn't stop keeping me awake, because he just laid there. Staring at me. Like some kind of creeper.
After about two minutes of this, I sat up suddenly, glaring at him with all the ferocity I could muster.
"WHAT?!" I hissed, but he just continued to stare at me, in a very irritating fashion. A slight frown pulled at his brow, and he finally decided to enlighten me as to just what he was staring at.
"I never noticed before...your hair is really long..." he mumbled, and I rolled onto my side.
"No shit, Sherlock..." I muttered, hoping that Kakashi didn't hear the swear. I didn't want a mouthful of soap again. "What of it?"
"It's... I... like it...."
Then there was just the sound of material moving past itself as he slid down in his bed. I was glad, as I buried my face in my arms; I didn't want him to see the blush sprinkling my cheeks that was brought on by his words.
"...thanks.."
