2 weeks later

2 weeks went by and I saw changes in Tosin. She wasn't a nice girl. She doesn't even talk nicely and she had this proud attitude. Today is Friday, meaning sport's day. I'm not a big fan of sports but Prosper is. She loves table tennis while Elizabeth is neutral. She plays as long as it's fun. I just hate running but it seems Mr Ayo just love giving us that sport every Friday.

"Everyone gather round!" said Mr Ayo, the grade 4 sport master, when we reached the field. Other grades were already on the field.

"We'll be starting with warm up exercises," Mr Ayo said.

"Okay everyone please spread out," instructed Mr Ayo

Everyone did as he instructed

"We'll be starting with jumping jacks, so everyone your hands by yourside and then we go 1,2,3,4..." he said showing us how to do jumping jack

We did that for 15 minutes, can you imagine, my stomach was already singing lullaby. Wow! it was a bad idea to eat before exercise. My bad!

"Then we'll move on to body weight squat," he said then squatted

"Everyone squat and placed your hands in front of you." He said demonstrating it.

We all did it

"We're doing great!" He commended us.

We did that for another 15 minutes, this time, some people complained and I was one of them

"Oh my goodness!" I managed to mutter as my feet ached in pain. My muscles were tensed.

"Sir, when will we stop?" Tobi asked, he was obviously in pain.

"20 minutes more!" He said and Nat collapsed to the ground.

Everyone chuckled

"Okay, I was just joking, time up!" Mr Ayo said in between laughter as he went to pick Nat from the floor.

"Now to high knee running in place!" said Mr Ayo and some murmuring erupted.

"Students, exercise is good, it makes your body fit or how many of you want to have unfit body." Mr Ayo encouraged and it worked

After our little warmup, we all went for our favorite games. Prosper as expected ran to the table tennis at the far left corner of the field. While Elizabeth went for Chess and I followed suit.

"Okay so, let's play in teams," suggested Elizabeth. And I agreed.

"So who are we playing against?" I asked and I got an immediate answer

"Us," said Tosin and Betty.

Those two became friends so quickly. She didn't ignore us— her first friends— but she's drifting away from us.

"Uhmm! so you guys wanna play chess." said Mr. Ayo. I wonder how he got here.

"So what's chess?" He asked us, having a confident grin because he's taught us.

"Chess is a two-player board game using a chessboard and sixteen pieces of six types for each players." answered Tosin so quickly.

"Mention the move of each player." asked Mr Ayo.

"The King moves from its square to a neighboring square," I answered

" And the Rook can move in its line or row," Elizabeth answered.

" The Bishop moves diagonally," said Tosin competitively.

" Knight jumps in making the shortest move that is not a straight one," I said.

"The Pawn moves one square straight ahead or 2 square straight but it's only once it can do that." Betty contributed

"Okay, that's excellent" Mr Ayo said excitedly feeling proud of us but we weren't concerned about the comment but who would win the game.. the atmosphere shifted suddenly when Mr Ayo left us to ourselves.

Betty played against Elizabeth and I played against Tosin

It was going well at first until Tosin started losing to me, her demeanor changed to that of anger so she flipped our chessboard causing all the pieces to fall down

I looked at her questioning and she just walked away. Betty followed after her leaving Elizabeth and I alone.

Elizabeth came to my side, "what happened?"

I shrugged. Then we saw Mr Ayo coming in with a frown on his face.

"I didn't expect this from you Tomisin" Mr Ayo scolded me

"Me ? What did I do?" I asked a bit hurt.

"How could you insult Tosin like that?"

"Sir, like you said you didn't expect it from Tomisin" Elizabeth said trying to defend me. I looked at her with teary eyes

"So you should expect it from Tosin" Elizabeth pointed to Tosin in anger

"Sir, they're lying even Betty was there when it happened" Tosin lied faking hurt but I must commend on her good English. Elizabeth and I looked at her in shock

"Yes sir, I was even telling Elizabeth to calm Tomisin down but she supported her friend and that's why Tosin poured all the piece on the floor" Betty said supporting her friend, but Tosin only gave her a frown probably for saying the latter statement.

"Oh My God!" Elizabeth exclaimed in disbelief.

I cleaned the tears in my eyes, looking at Tosin's fake tears I hugged her

"I'm sorry I shouldn't have done that. That was rude of me"

"I'm sorry too" Elizabeth said following my steps, "I shouldn't have supported Tomisin's step "

Mr Ayo's anger died down into a sweet smile. That's good of your girls

"Okay prepare to go to class, sport will be over in..." said Mr Ayo looking at his watch

" 2 minutes time" he concluded before leaving.

Tosin eyed us and walked away. Betty followed after her

Elizabeth hugged me. And I snuffed.

The day went on as normal but I knew that Tosin was no longer friends with us

Regarding the Pawn, I'm not sure of my last statement, is it correct?
