AT THE HOSPITAL; I- ADOPTED

This chappie is dedicated to the best daddy ever🥰🥰🥰

Tomisin was admitted to Keltofun ( Kelvin-Tofunmi ) hospital, the best private hospital in Kwara state that specialise mainly in children. It's been two weeks since she'd been admitted to the hospital, and she was already friends with the owner of the hospital.

James Johnson, a famous doctor in Nigeria, is a dual citizen of America and Nigeria. Born to parents from two different countries; his mom, a Nigerian, dad an American. So he was sort of similar to Tomisin as regards to having parents from different countries. He's married to Christy Hamsa (a Hausa woman) with a two kids, who aren't his; Elizabeth and Michael ( Hamsa's children - not exactly hers ). She had a bad childhood which resulted in her having to nurture her baby brother, Michael and her sister's baby, Elizabeth.

James being very close to Tomisin, never misses a day to see her so as to make her day. Though she always played with his daughter but still he wanted to always see her. Early in the morning James would always go to Tomisin's ward because he wouldn't be able to with all his fixed schedules. They played and laughed together each time they were together.

" Okay the next riddle," said Tomisin excitedly.

" If a person falls off a three-storey building where would the person end up in " asked James with a smile on his face. James loved all the children in his hospital but his love towards Tomisin was different because he felt some sort of attachment to her the day she was brought in. Tomisin made friends with his daughter Elizabeth, who was also in the hospital gradually recovering from Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). The two of them bonded well like sisters. Tomisin fell in love with Elizabeth the minute she saw her with IVs connected to a monitor. So ever since that day, Tomisin had always visited Elizabeth in her ward either to sing with her or talk to her. The sight of Elizabeth and Tomisin never fails to make James happy

"Uhm, I don't know," said Tomisin frowning because she didn't know the answer.

"Come on, you should know," said James trying to encourage her.

" Uhm, on the ground," guessed Tomisin.

" That's, partially correct. Should I tell you?" asked James.

" Yes please," said Tomisin in an almost frustrated manner.

" In the hospital," answered Michael.

"What!!," said Tomisin with wide eyes.

James tried to stifle a laugh, so not to make Tomisin feel bad.

" Okay fun time is over. I want to check on my patient now," said Mory sternly, as she entered the room, interrupting the serene atmosphere in the room

"Mory, you're no fun," said James, with a playful smile on his face, standing up from the bed.

Mory rolled her eye playfully," Yeah yeah yeah James, I know. Now go do your job and leave me to mine." said Mory practically shooing James away.

All the while, Tomisin was frowning at the scene before her. Ever since she got to the hospital, she'd never liked Mory and that was because Mory was a pretender. When James is with her, she acts all nice and sweet but the minute James walk out of the room, she turned to her real self - bad and mean.

"Bye Tomisin," said James waving at Tomisin and turning to leave.

Tomisin waved back at him with a smile, " Bye, I'll miss you "

" Good morning Tomisin , How are you feeling today?" asked Mory, with a straight face, after James left the room

"Wonderful," said Tomisin smiling

Mory looked at Tomisin's face as if studying her visage. She frown at her for a moment before speaking," I don't think you'll feel wonderful after this piece of information I have for you"

"What news?" asked Tomisin, her smile gradually fading away.

" I'll tell you after I've checked you up," said Mory, smirking at Tomisin's sad visage, taking up her pen from her left chest-pocket and writing quickly in her notepad.

" So are you feeling any pain in your head," asked Mory nonchalantly.

" I don't know," replied Tomisin looking anywhere but Mory.

"What about now?"
asked Mory gently touching Tomisin's bandaged head.

" Ouch," groaned Tomisin.

"There," said Mory satisfied at the reaction she got. Dropping her pen and notepad, Mory prepared to redress Tomisin's wound.

After dressing Tomisin's wound in silence to which Tomisin didn't feel uncomfortable with, Mory spoke up," Now to what I said earlier," sitting beside Tomisin she continued," You see you have amnesia. That means you've lost your memory." She paused allowing Tomisin to absorb the latest information on her case. Smirking again due to satisfaction from Tomisin's countenance, she continued " The memory of your past life, where you live, who your parents are and all, have vanished from your head." Standing up to grab her pen and notepad, from their resting position, to leave.

" But wait, I know my name and a-and I remember uhm uhmm," stuttered Tomisin avoiding Mory's mean glare

"Yeah that's right but it doesn't mean anything," faking a sympathetic visage she continued," basically that means you don't have parents. And do you know where they take missing children to," inquired Mory

Tomisin shook her head

" To the orphanage home," answered Mory. " So you shouldn't be feeling wonderful but sad and depressed." said Mory with a mischievous grin on her lips

" Okay dear, have a wonderful day." said Mory stressing the 'wonderful' and turning to leave.

To say Tomisin was shocked would be an understatement, she was beyond shocked, she was scared to the point that tears were falling down her eye. She laid on her bed and sobbed quietly until she fell asleep.

At James office

"Okay please take this file and give it to Mory," said James handling a red file to his colleagues.

" Okay," said John turning to leave but changed mind, " Wait, don't you think Mory is harsh." continued John but changed his statement on seeing James changed countenance,"I meant Why do you think Mory should take care of Tomisin?"

" I didn't miss your first statement you know. Why did you say Mory is harsh?" asked James sensing something fishy.

"Uhm, did I say that?" said John trying to find a way not to expose Mory. He knew Mory's true colors but telling his boss about it is like being the wicked talebearer which he didn't want to be.

"John what's going on, you know you can tell me anything," said James trying to make John speak out his worry.

" Uhm, everything is fine, it's just that," said John trying to find some excuses," oh my God!, look at the time. I have to check on Elizabeth." said John practically running out of the room.

"I wonder what he's saying" soliloquised James. After some moments, he decided to check-up on Tomisin.

Walking out of his office, he headed to Tomisin's room. When he got there, his countenance fell at the sight in front of him. He rushed to Tomisin's side and carried her.
" Tomisin what's wrong?" asked James

" I'm scared. I don't want to go to the orphanage home. I don't want them to take me away. I don't want to go." blabbered Tomisin. James hugged Tomisin's trembling form.

"It's okay. No one will take you away" reassured James patting her gently.
When Tomisin stopped crying, James asked her what made her cry and Tomisin blurt out everything. She told him how mean Mory was and how she always pretended when he wasn't around. And what she said about her being a missing child.

After Tomisin told James everything, he hugged her and patted her back again," Don't believe what others say to you or about you. Always think about Jesus thoughts concerning your life." said James waiting for a satisfactory reply from Tomisin to which she nodded and he continued,"Do you know what Jeremiah 29;11 says?" Tomisin shook her head

" For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.". quoted James

Tomisin stared at him waiting for the next word that would come out of his mouth. " Do you know what it means?" asked James also looking into Tomisin's eye.

" It means that God has good thoughts for me not bad." answered Tomisin.

" Yes, you're right." commended James.

" So God won't let them take me to the orphanage home." said Tomisin grinning at the thought.

" Uhm, not exactly like that." replied James but on seeing Tomisin's fallen countenance, he continued," It means we should focus on the thoughts Christ have for us no matter what happens to us in life, we should turn to the one that wishes us well and also has our life planned out. So just hang on to your SOURCE. Even though you'll go to the orphanage home, know and believe that God's got your back"

"Okay," said Tomisin giving a false smile. Though she loved what James said but she didn't like the idea of going to an orphanage home.

" Let's pray," said James holding Tomisin's tiny hand.

"In Jesus name amen, in the mighty name of Jesus. Father we thank you for the gift of life. We thank you for YOUR LOVE and care towards us. May your name be highly exalted in Jesus name. Father we ask that you uproot every falsehoods in our lives and replaced them with the truth in Jesus name amen" prayed James. At this point Tomisin peeped at him with one eye when he said the word 'falsehood'. She was distracted from the prayer and was thinking about what falsehood was until James said,"For in Jesus name we pray. Amen," then she quickly closed her eye and said her amen.

Tomisin gave James a sweet innocent smile, to which he smiled back not knowing that she only does that when she's done something wrong
