The god killer's daughter (Peter Parker)
So, I went to see the new 'Thor' today, and it gave me ideas, so here's the result lmao! Warning that this chapter contains MASSIVE spoilers, and probably won't make sense unless you've seen the movie, so either read at your own risk, or wait until you've seen it! Enjoy! xoxo
I stared at the mirror in the bathroom, my hands harshly gripping the edges of the sink as I watched my own eyes change colour. They changed from the natural hazel that they were, to the purple-lilac tinge that came with my birth story. And that was one that I absolutely despised.
"Y/N, what are you doing?! You're going to be late for school!" I rolled my eyes as I heard dad's deep voice yelling up the stairs.
"I know, god, I'm ready, I'll be down in a minute!" I shouted back before turning my attention back to my own reflection. My eyes wavered, the bottomless pit of depression filling my heart again as I longed for the unnatural colour to disappear from my orbs. But it never would, and that was due to my birth story. And that was that I had been born from the god at the centre of the universe, Eternity, and then promptly adopted by the Asgardian god, Thor. I was the daughter of Gorr, also known as the god killer. When I had died in the desert in his arms at just age four, he had vowed to kill all gods, and would have done once he'd reached Eternity. If Thor hadn't convinced him otherwise. My adoptive father managed to convince my real one to use his single wish to bring me back, instead of using it to kill all gods in an instant. Thor had promised my dying father that he would protect me, and that's exactly what he had done. I had been his adopted daughter since I was four, and I was now about to turn eighteen. It had been me and dad that entire time, plus the Avengers and Peter Parker having become like my second family. Well, the Avengers had become my second family. My feelings for Peter of course ran a lot deeper, my best friend having been my rock since he'd joined the team three years ago. I loved him with all of my heart, and all I wanted was for us to be more. But I knew that he didn't see me like that, not to mention that my dad would literally strike him down with thunder if he ever made a move on me. And then there was the fact of what I had been born of. I wasn't sure why it had affected me so much recently, since of course I'd lived in this state for the last fourteen years, but for the last year or so, I had really started to think about my life. And that wasn't a good thing. Every time that I looked at the purple colour of my eyes, I was reminded of where I came from. I was reminded that I came from a man who had killed several gods and, had things gone his way, would have massacred hundreds more. And that was a legacy that was getting to me more and more by the day, and was made worse by dad constantly trying to comfort me and tell me that I wasn't my real father, despite the fact that I knew that he was only trying to help. I shook my head and raised my hand to wipe away the tear that had fallen, my mind determined to not let Peter or dad see that I was upset as I opened the door. I headed back into my room before grabbing my bag and leaving again so that I could instead head down the stairs. I got into the kitchen, both dad and Peter looking up at me as I walked in.
"Morning, sweetie, you okay?" dad asked, him leaning against the marble island as Peter sat on one of the bar stools on the other side.
"You ready to go, Pete?" I asked as I completely ignored dad's words and instead just looked at my best friend. Peter's eyes wavered slightly and he gulped as he looked at my dad, making him sigh and shake his head.
"Y-yeah, if you are." He nodded, my best friend's gorgeous chocolate eyes going back to me as he started to stand up from the stool.
"Yeah, let's go. Bye, Thor." I mumbled as I walked straight past Peter, and towards our front door.
"You know that you call me 'dad'-."
"Bye, Thor." I replied with a scoff, making him sigh and Peter gulp as my best friend followed me, and we left the house to get to school.
Peter's P.O.V
"Hello? I'm here!" Peter yelled as he walked into Thor and Y/N's house, and shut the door behind him.
"In the kitchen, tiny human boy!" Thor's voice called from the kitchen, making Peter chuckle and shake his head at the hero, and his best friend's father. He walked into the kitchen, Thor looking up from the pan, with a pink apron protecting his t-shirt as he cooked.
"Morning, Thor, how's it going?" Peter smiled as he sat down at the island and put his backpack by the stool.
"Ah, not too bad, tiny mortal. But, I do need to talk to you about something." Thor nodded, the tall man wiping his hands before turning his full attention to Peter. His eyebrows furrowed, a slight anxiety starting to creep in at how Thor was looking at him.
"Yeah?" Peter prompted. Thor sighed and looked over his shoulder at the stairs, making Peter gulp as the man's actions made it clear that whatever this is involved Y/N.
"I'm worried about my daughter, boy. You know how she was born, you know that she is truly made of dust from the stars. But because of this, she sees her father in herself in a way that the rest of us do not. She sees the evil that he possessed, the genocidal wants, she sees the part that had to be stopped. Of course, that is not her. I know that she is not from my own blood, but she is my daughter. And I know that she possesses none of the evil that her father did. Despite this, she will not listen. She grows more defiant and upset by the day, so much so that I fear I can no longer get through to her." Thor explained.
"So, you want me to try?" Peter checked.
"I do, my boy. I may not like it, but you have been her rock since you met. More than I have ever been for her, no matter how hard I have tried to get that back. You have been her new rock for the last three years." He nodded, making Peter sigh and return it as he let his eyes wander in thought. He had to admit that he knew what Thor was talking about, and had seen it himself recently. Since having joined the team three years ago, Peter had fallen head over heels for Y/N. The girl was not only stunning but she held amazing powers and even more incredible intelligence that would easily get her through life. But it was how she had gotten her powers that started the problem. Y/N had been reborn at the age of four by Eternity, when her god killer of a father had chosen to bring her back instead of kill all of the remaining gods. He had died moments later and Thor had taken her in, with her powers being discovered immediately. Y/N was perfect, everyone could see that, especially Peter. He was absolutely in love with her, he'd do anything for her, and he wanted them to be so much more than friends. Which was what made it hurt so much that especially recently, Y/N had only started to see herself as truly her father's daughter. And that worried not only Peter, but obviously worried Thor too.
"I'll see what I can do, Thor." Peter promised with a nod.
"Thank you, child. Speaking of which, you two are going to be late for school if she is not down here soon." Thor mumbled before heading to the bottom of the stairs.
"Y/N, what are you doing?! You're going to be late for school!" He yelled up the stairs.
"I know, god, I'm ready, I'll be down in a minute!" Y/N shouted back. Thor looked at Peter.
"See what I mean? She is clearly going through something. She is not the girl that I raised right now." Thor sighed and shook his head, making Peter return the sigh as the god went back to leaning against the island.
"She still is, Thor, like you said, she's just going through something. I get that it's frustrating that she's locking you out right now, but in reality, she needs you more than ever. You need to support her and show her that you'll do that once she's ready to accept it." Peter nodded.
"You speak wise words for such a young mortal, boy." Thor smiled, making Peter laugh and shake his head as the sound of footsteps heading down the stairs emerged. Following the sound came Y/N, making both Thor and Peter look up at her as she walked in.
"Morning, sweetie, you okay?" Thor asked as Peter's eyes stayed on the beautiful girl, as if to examine her reaction to her dad's kind greeting.
"You ready to go, Pete?" She asked as she completely ignored his words and instead just looked at Peter. The boy's eyes wavered slightly and he gulped as he looked at Thor, making him sigh and shake his head. This was exactly what Peter and Thor had just been talking about. The old Y/N would jump into Thor's arms to give him a massive hug, she'd be smiling at him at every opportunity. But now, she'd barely even recognise the presence of the man who had saved her life. Peter knew that it wasn't her being nasty, or trying to hurt Thor. He knew that Y/N was hurting right now, and he had to make sure that both of them were there for that.
"Y-yeah, if you are." He nodded, his eyes going back to her as he started to stand up from the stool.
"Yeah, let's go. Bye, Thor." Y/N mumbled as she walked straight past Peter, and towards their front door. Peter's eyes widened and his mouth fell open in shock, Thor having the exact same reaction to the girl's words.
"You know that you call me 'dad'-."
"Bye, Thor." She replied with a scoff, making Thor sigh and Peter gulp in worry for his best friend as he followed her, and they left the house to get to school.
Y/N's P.O.V
Peter and I sat on the roof of his apartment building, our legs hanging over the edge as we stared out onto the streets of Queens. I hadn't wanted to go home after school, and much to my surprise, Peter had agreed that we should hang out for a bit before I went home. Normally after a fight with my dad, Peter would insist that I go home and hash things out, especially given the danger of their work, but today, my best friend and love of my life had been all for us just having some alone time.
"How did you do on the math quiz?" I asked, both mine and Peter's hands dipping into the bag of chips that was between us as we just hung out.
"Got an A, of course I'm happy with that. What about you?" He returned as he looked at me.
"A B minus. I'm happy with it but doubt that dad will be." I scoffed and shook my head.
"Y/N, your dad doesn't care what you get, as long as you're happy, because he loves you." He shrugged.
"Yeah, sure he does." I mumbled, my words hurting my own heart as I popped another chip into my mouth. Peter looked at me with furrowed eyebrows.
"Y/N, what? You know that Thor would die for you, what makes you say that?" He scoffed.
"It doesn't matter-."
"No, tell me. Look, I'm going to be honest with you. One of the reasons why I asked to hang out was because your dad talked to me this morning and asked me to check on you. And before you get mad at him for asking, or at me for doing it, he's noticed things, and I have too. You've become so distant in the last six months, you've become cold, you've been pushing Thor away, and neither of us can figure out why because that man has given you everything. He loves you, I love you, and so we just want to know that you're okay. Because we know that you're not okay." Peter shook his head, the boy's gorgeous chocolate eyes flicking over my face as he looked at me. My eyes wavered at his words, each one like a stab to my chest. But that wasn't his fault. It was mine. It was mine for getting into my own head, and starting to push my dad away because of that. Push away the one person who had always been there for me. I shook my head and looked down, tears rapidly building up in my eyes as I felt Peter move closer to me and put his arm around my shoulder as a way of comforting me.
"You're right. I'm not okay. I don't know what's been different about the last year considering that I've been with dad for the last fourteen, but recently, all I can see when I look in the mirror is my biological father. The evil one. The one who literally set out to kill my adoptive father, and all others like him. Every time that I look in the mirror, I see my purple eyes, I see the life given back to me by the piece of shit who wanted to kill the man who has given me everything. Like I said, I-I don't know why this has hurt so much more since I turned sixteen, but it just has. Every time that I look at myself, I see the evil. I worry that I inherited that, and didn't inherit the good that my adoptive dad brings to the world." I choked and shook my head as my gaze stayed down.
"...Y/N, do you not realise what your eyes mean? Your eyes are the result of you having saved the universe." Peter replied softly. My eyebrows furrowed, my mind not entirely sure of what he meant as I raised my head and looked back at him.
"What do you mean?" I asked quietly.
"Y/N, you're literally the reason why Thor is still alive. Your father got to Eternity with every intention of using his one wish to wipe out all of the remaining gods throughout the universe and multiverse. But instead, with the help of Thor, he chose you. Your love for him before you died was so powerful that when he finally got the chance to have the wish granted that he so desperately wanted, he changed his mind, and chose you. You are the reason that your dad is still alive. You are the reason that Valkyrie, Sif and Zeus are still alive. You are the reason. So when you look into your eyes, I know that you see the evil that your biological father possessed. But please believe me when I say that the rest of us see the hope, and the safety that you gave to everyone, including yourself. You gave your father, and all of those other gods, another chance at life. You gave yourself to your father, and that made him the man he is today. Your eyes don't mean evil and death, Y/N. Your eyes mean hope and life." Peter nodded, his gorgeous gaze flicking over my face as he spoke. I couldn't help but bite my lip and try not to cry, despite the fact that too many tears to count had already escaped my eyes. Because every word that he had just uttered meant the fucking world to me. Every sound, every letter that had just slipped his lips truly found my heart, and lifted the weight that had been on me for the last year.
"Do you really believe all of that, Peter?" I whispered and shook my head. He nodded and bit his lip as he took the back of my neck and gently pressed our foreheads together, making my eyes flutter shut as I just let the love of my life hold me.
"Of course I do, Y/N. You're not evil or darkness. You're life and light." He promised once again. I smiled and bit my lip at his words, making him return it as he pulled me in for a tight hug, everything that he was doing helping me more than he'd ever know as we continued to sit on the roof, and sit in each other's arms.
"Dad? I'm home!" I called out as I walked into our house, and shut the door behind me. I looked up as he appeared at the kitchen doorway, a gulp being felt in my throat as he looked at me with an unsure smile.
"Hello, my sweet love. How was your day?" He asked as he stuck his hands into his pockets in a clear attempt to act nonchalant. I shrugged and nodded.
"It was good. Not too bad." I smiled.
"Good, good, my girl, um...good." He smiled. I returned it and chuckled, my heart always having loved how awkward my dad could be as I walked up to him. I wrapped my arms tightly around him in a hug, making his eyes widen slightly but return the hug regardless as he was clearly shocked by the sudden affection shown.
"I love you, dad. I love you so much." I whispered.
"I love you too, my darling. You know that I will always love you." He responded quietly, my smile widening as I felt him lean down and kiss my head. Because he was right. I knew that no matter what happened, my dad and Peter would always love me. Peter would always love me.
