The child spy *part 2* (Mob boss!AU, Tom Holland)

Tom paced the floor of his study, his mind and heart racing at what felt like a thousand miles per hour as he desperately tried to wrap his head around the situation. Around the fact that he had caught his first love trying to poison him. It was odd, despite it having been fourteen years ago, Tom still remembered the exact day that she had left their house, and had never returned. And it still hurt the boy, to this day, to think about.

"I'm serious, what do you want to watch?" Tom groaned, him and Harrison sitting on his bed as Tom flicked through the channels on his TV.

"I don't know, just put a cartoon on or something." Harrison chuckled and shook his head. Tom looked at his best friend.

"We're sixteen, aren't we too old for cartoons?" Tom scoffed and raised his eyebrow. The boys were interrupted, both of them looking at Tom's bedroom door as it opened, and Tom's mum walked in.

"Hey, boys, I just wanted to see how you two were getting on." She smiled as she leant against the doorway.

"We're great, Mrs Holland, thank you." Harrison returned the smile.

"Yeah, mum, we're fine." Tom nodded, though his eyes stayed glued to his TV as he continued to search for something to watch.

"Oh, Harrison, I never did thank your mum for sending Y/N our way. She's been such a blessing ever since she arrived." Tom's mum chuckled and shook her head. Harrison's eyebrows furrowed.

"Um, we never sent Y/N here, Mrs Holland. She just appeared one day, I didn't meet her until I came over to play with Tom." Harrison admitted. Tom's eyebrows furrowed, as did his mum's as they both looked at the blond boy.

"What are you talking about, Haz? She got into the house by saying that your family sent her." Tom scoffed, his heart starting to thump in anxiety as his mind began to come up with the worse case scenario.

"We definitely didn't send her here." He insisted as he shook his head.

"Harrison, stop it, stop this joking right now." Tom's mum spat slightly, but Tom could tell by the look in her eyes that the harshness was covering up her growing fear at the situation.

"I promise, Mrs Holland, I'm telling the truth. We never sent her here." He scoffed. Tom looked at his mum, both of them gulping as they silently reached the same conclusion.

"Mrs Holland, Y/N is gone!" Tom heard one of the staff yell from down the hall. His eyes widened, his heart dropping in his chest as he watched his mum have the same reaction.

"Lock the house down now! No one gets in or out, we need to know who sent her!" His mum yelled before rushing out of his room, followed by Harrison. But Tom remained. The boy stayed sat on his bed, his eyes wavering and his lips quivering as tears left his eyes. Y/N had been here for almost five years, tomorrow would be her sixteenth birthday, and yet she had so suddenly fled. Though, it made sense if Harrison was right, that his family hadn't sent her to live with Tom and his family. His heart broke at the thought that their love had been a lie, that all of the circumstances for her being here had been fake. Had been for another, surely more sinister reason, than just safety. Tom choked and wiped his eyes, determined not to show how upset he already was by this whole situation as he stood up, and rushed out to join in the search for the missing girl. Whether or not they'd find her, though, was another matter entirely.

"Mate." Tom snapped out of his thoughts, the boy blinking as Harrison waved a hand in front of his face.

"Sorry, I got lost there." He mumbled and shook his head as he leant against his desk.

"What were you thinking about?" Harrison asked. Tom sighed and looked back up at his best mate, his mind slightly conscious of the tears in his eyes, but also not caring in the slightest.

"About the day that she left. It was as if she'd disappeared into thin air, and I just remember it breaking my heart. The thought that the last five years with her had been nothing but a lie. Which, of course, was confirmed by her in the hallway." He nodded, his eyes wavering as a tear fell from them. Harrison sighed and gave him a small smile as he rested his hand on Tom's shoulder.

"I get that, it must be hard, and I'm sorry that she's putting you through all of this. But, I can't lie to you, I don't believe for a second that she was lying about loving you when we were teenagers." Harrison admitted. Tom's eyes widened as he looked at the boy.

"What?" He scoffed as he stood up straight again.

"Look, I saw the way that you looked at each other back then. You looked at her with so much love and adoration in your eyes that it was almost sickening. But the thing was that she looked at you in exactly the same way. And, in my experience, you can't fake that look." He shook his head. Tom sighed and looked down, his gaze wandering over the polished floorboards of his office as he thought about his best mate's words. What they could mean for him and Y/N if they were right. But what they also meant given that Y/N had tried to kill him. After all, that wasn't something that was easily forgiven. Not by Tom, anyway.

Y/N's P.O.V

I lay in the bed, my arms above me as my wrists stayed handcuffed to the headboard. I gulped and looked around the room, my fear slightly diminished by the fact that I had been put in such a beautiful and regal space. It almost reminded me of the room that Mrs Holland had given me as a child. But ultimately, the extravagance of the room that Tom's guards had chosen for me wasn't indicative of my fate. Only Tom could tell me what fate I'd meet. As if on cue, the door opened, making my head shoot down to look at it. My eyes wavered, my heart jumping in my chest as Tom walked in. He looked insanely good, the boy's body clad in a black suit, a black waistcoat and a white shirt to make him look so fucking handsome and smart as he walked in. If I wasn't handcuffed to a bed, awaiting my likely deadly fate, I would have admired him even more. He clenched his jaw, the boy looking at me out of the corner of my eye as he shut and locked the door.

"So...have you decided how you're killing me yet?" I spat slightly in an attempt to appear less afraid than I was. But also to further convince Tom that my lie earlier about me never having loved him was true. I had to convince him that my love for him had been a lie, otherwise we were both in trouble.

"Not yet. I'm struggling to find a way that's brutal, tortuous, cruel enough, for the likes of you." He nodded, the boy shoving his hands into his trouser pockets as he stood at the end of my bed and stared daggers at me. My eyes wavered, my throat harshly gulping as I looked at him.

"Tom, just kill me already-."

"No, no, no, that's not how this is going to work." He chuckled and shook his head as he started to walk around to the side of the bed that I was handcuffed to. I gulped harshly, tears pricking my eyes as he sat down by my legs and looked at me.

"This is going to work the way that I want it to work, because you fucking left me." He nodded, making my eyes widen as his hand raised and wrapped around my throat.

"You made me fall in love with you, you made me trust you, care for you, only for you to rip that away from me in an instant." He spat as his grip on my throat steadily got tighter.

"Tommy-."

"You were everything to me, Y/N, and when you left, my world fell apart. I didn't think that I'd ever be happy again without you. I thought that the next time that I'd see you would be nice, it only broke me more to see you again after you've tried to fucking poison me." He choked and shook his head, tears starting to leave his eyes as his grip on my throat started to cut off my air supply.

"Tom, please-."

"I thought that you were the one, Y/N, despite how young we were. I loved you, I could see us together for the rest of our lives, despite what everyone said, you were everything to me, and you fucking threw it away, for what, for fucking what-."

"Tom, I can't breathe-."

"Good." He spat, his gorgeous eyes on fire with anger as he stared at me. I choked at his words, a tear slipping down my face and my lungs burning as his hand against my neck continued to choke me. His eyes wavered and he sat up after a moment, his hand letting go of my throat as he did. I coughed and spluttered, my lungs finally filling with the oxygen that I had been deprived of as Tom stood from the bed. My chest rose and fell with heavy breaths, my eyes glued to Tom as he moved back to the door, his eyes down and his fingers brushing over his lip as he walked.

"Tom-."

"Don't. Just...don't." He scoffed and shook his head, making me choke as he left my room, and slammed the door behind him. Leaving me alone, and locked up...once again.
