The child spy *part 1* (Mob boss!AU, Tom Holland)

Requested by znblazn: Y/N is a child agent who's sent to get information about the Holland mob. She meets Tom and they become childhood sweethearts before Y/N has to leave. Years later, Tom finds out that someone is trying to kill him, and when he finds her, he recognises her. She confirms that their childhood love was a lie, but she starts to fall for him by the day when he imprisons her in his mansion.

I stared up at the huge oak doors, my heart in my throat virtually suffocating me as I tried to not let my nerves get the better of me. After all, if I did that, I would fail the mission. And if I failed the mission, I would die. Instead of Tom Holland. I took one last deep breath, my throat swallowing thickly as I stepped forward and knocked my closed fist against the massive door. I heard shuffling, my body starting to shake and my arms wrapping around myself to make myself look weak and vulnerable as footsteps approached the door. It opened to reveal what looked to be a maid, the woman's eyes widening as she saw me.

"What do you want?" She scoffed callously. I gulped and looked up at her.

"I-I'm sorry, I have nowhere else to go, please." I choked and shook my head as fake tears started to leave my eyes.

"That's not my problem. Get lost." She spat before starting to close the door.

"The Osterfields sent me." I blurted out. She stopped closing the door immediately and looked at me, giving me the exact reaction that I had been told that I'd get by bringing up the Holland mob's right-hand-family. She sighed and looked me up and down.

"Fine. I suppose that you better come in if they sent you." She nodded. I choked falsely and gave her a small smile as I slipped into the mansion and passed her. So it begins, I thought, my eyes looking up into the huge building as I gulped. Because the truth wasn't nearly as close to what I'd told the maid as it seemed. The truth was that I was a child spy. And I had been sent to get information about the Holland mob, to be used to kill the heir to it, Tom Holland, when we were both older. At only age six, five years ago now, I had been sold by my parents to an underground organisation that trained kids like me into the most unsuspecting assassins and spies in the world. It had settled my parents' debts, and so they hadn't thought twice about it. Given that I was the same age as the heir to the biggest mob in London, the Holland mob, I had been trained and raised with the specific intention of infiltrating the mob and collecting as much information as I could on Tom Holland, before using that to kill him when we were both twenty-five. And, well...I planned to succeed. The maid led me into what looked to be a huge living room, a family of a man, a woman, and four young boys sitting around the place as a fire burned away in the beautiful marble fireplace. I gulped and tried to keep my cool, my eyes wavering as I immediately recognised the oldest boy as my target. Tom Holland. They all looked up as I walked in with the maid.

"Mrs Holland, I'm so sorry to disturb you, but this little one was on the doorstep. She claims that Mrs Osterfield sent her." The maid spoke. I gulped harshly as the woman's eyebrows furrowed, as did the man's as they looked at each other.

"Have any of them mentioned this to you, Dom?" She asked.

"Not at all." He shook his head.

"Oh well. If they sent her here, it must have been for a reason. I'll deal with her, Sarah, thank you." The woman nodded as she stood up and walked towards me. She gave me a kind smile as she bent down so that she was at eye level with me.

"What's your name, love?" She asked softly.

"Y-Y/N. My name is Y/N." I replied timidly.

"Okay, Y/N. Well, don't worry, you're safe here. Let's get you a room." She smiled again, making me hesitantly return it as she straightened back up and took my hand before starting to lead me to the doors. I looked over my shoulder, my heart jumping in my chest and my throat gulping again as I locked eyes with Tom. The boy had already been looking at me, his gorgeous chocolate eyes innocently studying me as his lips remained parted slightly. His eyes widened and he looked away from me once I made eye contact, making me smile to myself and turn back around as I let the woman lead me out of the room.

I sat on the bed in the room that Mrs Holland had given me, my fingers nervously playing with each other as I looked around the space. I had to admit that I was already starting to resent this family, but I knew that that was only because they lived a life that I could never dream of having. The room that I had been put in was absolutely beautiful, the insanely high ceilings trimmed with intricate patterns and the chandelier lighting up the whole space as I sat on the bed that would easily fit four of me into it. I was loving it already, but I knew that I wouldn't be able to stay. Of course I wouldn't be able to. I looked up as there was a gentle knock on my door. It opened a moment later, my eyes widening slightly and my heart violently jumping as Tom walked in with a tray of food. I gulped as I looked at him, only one thought running through my head. Here. We. Go.

"H-hi, um...my mum asked me to bring you some food. I-in case you were hungry." He gave me a small smile, making me return it and continue playing with my fingers as he gently put the tray down on the Chester Drawers.

"Thank you, that's so kind. It smells so good." I chuckled as I stood up and faced him. He returned it and nodded, the boy's innocent doe eyes looking into my own as we just stood there, facing each other.

"I'm Tom, I'm the oldest. It's lovely to meet you." He smiled, making my eyes widen slightly as the boy stepped forward and extended his hand for me to shake.

"Y/N. I-it's nice to meet you, too." I returned as I shook his hand.

"So, you were sent by the Osterfields? Harrison's my best friend, you know." He chuckled and nodded. I gulped and returned the chuckle. In reality, I had no idea who the Osterfields were besides the Holland's best friends, and of course I hadn't been sent by them. I had only been told to use their name if I had trouble getting into the mansion, and so I had used it.

"Y-yeah, Harrison is really nice. So is his sister, I get along with her too." I replied.

"Yeah, they're all so nice." He smiled, the boy warming my heart by continuing to try to make small conversation. I had to admit that he was already so sweet that it hurt to know that I'd be sent to kill him in fourteen years from now. But that was my whole life's purpose, and so of course I had to carry that out.

"Anyway, um, I better leave you to eat. I look forward to getting to know you more, though, Y/N. Let me know if you need anything." He nodded as he started to head back to the door.

"Thanks, Tom, will do. And I'm looking forward to getting to know you more too." I smiled. He returned it, the boy nodding once more as he left the room and shut the door behind him. As soon as he left, my smile dipped. My eyes wavered, a breath leaving my lips and my heart pounding as I gave up the act. Except for that already, I could tell that I would struggle. He was so kind and sweet, not to mention really cute. I didn't want to do this, I didn't want to fake a friendship with Tom, only to use it against him in a decade. But I had no other choice. It was either me, or him. And I was picking me.

My eyes wavered as I snapped out of the memories that I still retained from fourteen years ago, making me gulp as I stood in the middle of the Holland's mansion kitchen. I looked down, a quiet sigh leaving my lips at the small vial of poison that was hidden away from the eyes of the actual staff in the palm of my hand. I bit my lip and contemplated what I was about to do. What I had to do. After I had successfully infiltrated the Holland mob at age eleven, fourteen years ago now, things had not gone to plan. And by that, I meant that Tom and I had ended up falling for each other. I had ended up staying for just shy of five years, with my mind forcing myself to leave the day before my sixteenth birthday to avoid getting deeper in than I already had been by that point. Because the truth was that from that first glance, from the first time that Tom had brought food to my room, we had been inseparable since. We had become friends within days, my feelings developing and growing for the boy within months up until the point where I felt sick at the idea of killing him. But then, a week before I turned sixteen, my past caught up with me. I got called by the organisation that had raised me, telling me that if I didn't leave, I would be dead before I turned sixteen. And so I had had no choice but to leave, and to let them continue using me. Hence why I stood back in Tom's kitchen, trying to poison his food so that I could get out of here undetected. I bit my lip and looked around, the room either empty or housing staff that were preoccupied with other jobs. Giving me the perfect chance to do this. I checked once more that no one was watching me before opening the vial. I raised it and poured the liquid into the bowl of soup that was waiting to be taken to Tom before dipping my finger in and mixing it about. I headed to the sink and washed the soup off of my finger before nodding to myself and heading to the door. But that was when shit hit the fan. Another member of staff passed me and immediately went to the soup. I watched him, my eyes widening as he picked up a spoon and dipped it into the soup before taking a taste. Fuck. I had forgotten that Tom had all of his food tasted to make sure that it hadn't been tampered with before being given to him. Fuck.

"Oh, shit." I whispered to myself as the employee's eyes widened, and he grabbed his throat as he started to choke. Other members of staff gasped and rushed in, all of them desperately trying to help the now dying man as I looked on with wide eyes.

"Oh, shit." I scoffed again, my mind immediately knowing that I had to get out of here as I turned and started to hastily walk down the staff corridor.

"Mr Holland's food is poisoned! We've been breached, send guards!" I heard one of the kitchen staff yell, making my eyes widen further.

"Shit!" I hissed again before breaking into a sprint. I raced down the hallway, other pairs of footsteps, and loud voices soon following me as Tom's guards started to chase me. I had to escape, if I didn't, I was guaranteed to be killed by the organisation. Getting trapped here wasn't an option.

"STOP!" I yelped out, my eyes widening as a hand landed on my shoulder and harshly pulled me back.

"Fuck you." I spat as I turned around and kicked the guard in between his legs. His eyes widened and he cried out in pain as he fell to the floor, making me gulp as the other guard came at me with a taser. It made contact with my waist, making me cry out and also crumble to the floor as the volts of electricity ran violently through me and sent me into fits of pain. I cried out, tears running down my face and my eyes squeezing shut as I felt two strong pairs of hands grab my biceps and pull me up before pinning my hands behind my back.

"What do we have here, boys?" I choked, my eyes squeezing further shut as his voice rang out. I made a point of keeping my head down, my hair over my face meaning that he couldn't see me. Because I knew that the second that he saw me, and recognised me...his heart would break.

"Fucking look up. I want to see the face of the person who tried to kill me." His voice spat, making me yelp out as his hand wrapped around my neck before forcing my head up. I choked and looked into the eyes that I hadn't seen for fourteen years. God, they were just as beautiful as the last time that I had gazed into them. But now, they were filling with tears. Tom's eyes wavered, his lips falling open as he looked at me.

"Y-Y/N? What the fuck, what are you doing here?" He scoffed and shook his head, his eyebrows furrowing in hurt confusion. But I can tell from the pain written all over his face that he knew why I was there. He knew that it had been me who had tried to poison him.

"I'm sorry, Tommy. I'm sorry." I choked and returned the head-shake. He nodded and clenched his jaw, the boy gulping harshly as he shoved his hands into his trouser pockets and backed up slightly from me. If I wasn't in so much trouble, I would have taken the time to appreciate how fucking hot Tom had grown up to be since I had last seen him. But I knew that this wasn't the time to be focusing on such a thing.

"So, let me get this straight. My family took you in for five years, we fed you, clothed you, I LOVED you, and you repay me, repay us, by trying to kill me?!" He yelled, making my eyes waver at the anger that suddenly took control of him. Not that I could blame him.

"What a shame that I didn't really love you back." I whispered, a tear leaving my eye as I spoke. Of course I didn't mean those horrible words, I had fallen deeply for Tom in my time here before. But it would be easier for both of us, easier for him, if he believed that I had lied about my love for him. His eyes wavered, tears also rolling down his face as he nodded again and clenched his jaw.

"Take her to one of the lockable rooms. That's where she'll be kept until I decide how I want to kill her." He nodded. My eyes widened, my heart dropping to my feet at his words as my mouth fell open. Fuck, shit, I'd gone too far. I'd expected Tom to maybe keep me prisoner for a while, to punish me somehow, but him promising to kill me hadn't been something that I was prepared for.

"What, Tommy, what are you talking about-."

"You just tried to kill me, Y/N. And you will die for that." He spat, making me choke and shake my head as the guards started to drag me past him.

"Tommy, please, don't do this, please, no!" I screamed as I desperately fought against the guards to try and get back to him. But it was no use. Tom turned away from me and looked down, making me choke and my eyes waver as I was dragged out of his sight. And to somewhere that I'd now stay...until I died.

Tom's P.O.V

Tom sat in his study, his eyes glued to the work in front of him as he scribbled down on it. His head shot up, everyone else in the room also looking at the door as it burst open to reveal a heavily out-of-breath and panting guard. Tom's eyebrows furrowed.

"You've not got my soup, so what the fuck are you doing here?" He scoffed.

"Someone-shit, someone poisoned your soup, sir. One of the kitchen staff has just died tasting it." The guard admitted. Tom's eyes widened, as did Harrison's as the boys looked at each other.

"Lock this building down now, no one goes in or out until I find out who's just tried to kill me." He spat as he stood up. All of the guards nodded and ran out, Tom buttoning up his dress jacket as he headed out of the office with Harrison following him.

"Bets on who it'll be?" Tom mumbled quietly to his best friend and right-hand man as they walked through the corridors.

"The Bensons have it out for you right now." He returned, making Tom chuckle and nod.

"Sir!" Tom and Harrison stopped and looked over their shoulders as they heard a voice.

"The guards in the staff corridor think that they've found her!" He declared. Tom's eyebrows furrowed, as did Harrison's as they looked at each other.

"A female assassin? How unusual." He mumbled as he and Harrison started to follow the guard and head to the corridor. As they got there, they heard cries and groans of a struggle, making Tom's jaw clench as they turned the corner to see the guards holding the unknown girl by her arms. Tom stuck his hands in his trouser pockets as he sauntered down the hallway, his shoes clicking against the floor as he walked painfully slowly to tease whoever the fuck she was.

"What do we have here, boys?" He mumbled, making her choke as Tom spoke. He stopped right in front of her, the girl still refusing to look up at him as he clenched his jaw.

"Fucking look up. I want to see the face of the person who tried to kill me." He spat, making her yelp out as his hand wrapped around her neck before forcing her to look at him. But as soon as he did, Tom wished that he hadn't. Y/N choked, Tom's gaze wavering as he stared into the gorgeous eyes of the first girl that he'd fallen in love with. The eyes that he hadn't seen in fourteen years, and the eyes that he never thought that he'd see again. Of course he'd wanted to see them again, but had never thought in his worst nightmare that this would be why. His lips fell open as he stared at her.

"Y-Y/N? What the fuck, what are you doing here?" He scoffed and shook his head, his eyebrows furrowing in hurt confusion as he tried to deny what he knew had happened. Y/N, the love of his life who had come into his life one day, and then disappeared equally as suddenly five years later...had just tried to kill him. And that was tearing him up inside.

"I'm sorry, Tommy. I'm sorry." Y/N choked and returned the head-shake. He nodded and clenched his jaw, the boy gulping harshly to try and stop yet more tears as he shoved his hands back into his trouser pockets and backed up slightly from her. He could hardly bear to look at her, his heart filling with sadness and anger. He had loved Y/N, him and his family had done everything for her for five years, and now he was learning why she had probably come into his life in the first place.

"So, let me get this straight. My family took you in for five years, we fed you, clothed you, I LOVED you, and you repay me, repay us, by trying to kill me?!" He yelled, anger starting to violently course through him as Y/N's eyes wavered.

"What a shame that I didn't really love you back." She whispered simply in return as a tear left her eye. That was enough to break Tom, more so than he already was. His first love had been a lie, the standards of kindness and gentleness, of laughter and love that he had set for every relationship since...was based off of love that wasn't even real. Not for Y/N, anyway. And now Tom had to live with that. But he promised himself that Y/N wouldn't live with that. She was going to take this to her grave. Tears continued to roll down his face as he nodded and clenched his jaw.

"Take her to one of the lockable rooms. That's where she'll be kept until I decide how I want to kill her." He nodded. Y/N's eyes widened, her mouth falling open at Tom's words.

"What, Tommy, what are you talking about-."

"You just tried to kill me, Y/N. And you will die for that." He spat, making her choke and shake her head as the guards started to drag her past him.

"Tommy, please, don't do this, please, no!" Y/N screamed, the sight of her desperately fighting the guards and the sounds of her screams only hurting Tom more as she was dragged away. But it would be of no use. Tom turned away from her and looked down, his jaw clenched as tears continued to leave his eyes. The screaming quietened before the hallway fell silent again, only Harrison and Tom stood in the space as the boy desperately tried to recompose himself. Harrison sighed and looked at him.

"Are you really going to kill her, mate?" Harrison asked quietly. Tom sniffed and looked up, his hand raising to his face to wipe away the tears as he looked down the hallway, but of course Y/N was no longer there.

"I don't know, Haz. I don't know."
