Puppy (Peter Parker)

Requested by asdldhaps: Y/N's birthday is coming up, and what she really wants is a puppy. Tony is against it as he thinks that it's too much responsibility, and it wouldn't work as he's Iron Man, and Y/N is still in school. Y/N goes to school the next day and Peter sees that she looks sad, and so he goes and convinces Tony to surprise Y/N with a puppy for her birthday.

"Dad, please!" I whined, my body hot on the heels of my dad as I followed him around his lab like a lost puppy. Which, I couldn't lie, was slightly ironic given what I was begging him for.

"You can say 'please' as much as you want, kid, I'm not giving in." He shrugged, his eyes looking at his suits and projects as he figured out what he had to do next.

"Dad, come on, you know how responsible I am, you know that I'll be able to look after it." I tried to convince him.

"I also know that I'm Iron Man, and you're a sixteen year old girl who's still in high school. You know what that means? That between us, we don't have enough time to reasonably look after a dog. I'm sorry, honey, but it just won't work." He shook his head. I sighed, my shoulders slumping and all of the hope in my body leaving as I could see in my dad's face just how serious he was. I was the eldest daughter of Tony Stark, and was ten years older than my half sister, Morgan. It had just been dad and I for the longest time since my mom had died just after I was born, but then my dad had hired my step mom, Pepper, to work for him when I had still been a kid, and they had gotten married and had my sister after a few years. But because of those few years when it had just been dad and I, I sometimes got cocky and tried to use our slightly stronger bond to get what I wanted. And on this occasion, what I wanted...was a puppy for my seventeenth birthday. My birthday was two weeks away now, and what I wanted more than anything was a little puppy. I was a dog person beyond belief, which wasn't helped by my boyfriend of two years, Peter, being a total golden retriever boyfriend, and so I wanted an actual dog who I could look after and raise with Peter. But so far, my closer relationship to my dad wasn't working like it normally did. I had been begging him for weeks by this point to get me a dog for my birthday, but he was still flat-out refusing. And, well, I was starting to lose hope.

"Dad, seriously, is there anything that I can do to convince you that I can do this?" I sighed. Dad returned it and looked at me.

"Kiddo, I have no doubt that you want this, and that under the right circumstances, you could do this. But at seventeen, when your dad works full-time and your mom and sister shouldn't be burdened with helping look after your dog, it's not feasible. Come back and ask me when you're twenty-one, yeah?" He nodded. I sighed and rolled my eyes as I turned to start heading towards the lab door.

"Love you, kid!" He called after me.

"Love you too!" I yelled back reluctantly, my lips curling slightly into a weak chuckle as I left the lab.

~The next day~

I wandered into school, a sigh leaving my lips as I slumped into the building. I couldn't lie, I was still feeling bummed out about all of my attempts to convince dad to get me a dog having failed. I knew that in the grand scheme of life, it really wasn't a big deal, and of course I'd be incredibly appreciative of whatever I ended up getting for my birthday, but I had been really hopeful for this. I snapped out of my thoughts as I headed towards Peter's locker, my boyfriend looking up at me as I approached him.

"Hey, baby, you okay?" Peter smiled as he leant down and gently kissed me.

"Not really." I chuckled and shrugged. His eyebrows furrowed at me.

"Oh, how come, babe?" He asked. I sighed and looked at him.

"It's not a big deal, Pete, it's just that dad still isn't willing to get me a puppy for my birthday. I asked him again yesterday, and, I don't know, just got the sense that him saying no yesterday was truly the last time that I needed to ask, because his answer wasn't going to change. It doesn't matter, it's fine." I reassured as I tried to downplay the situation. Peter's eyes wavered.

"Oh, angel. I'm sorry." He sighed, making me give him a small smile as he curled his arms around my waist and pulled me into a loving hug. I let my eyes flutter shut and rested my head against my boyfriend's chest, his gentle heartbeat always being able to soothe me and make me feel loved as we hugged.

"I'm sorry that he won't let you get a puppy, my love." He mumbled as he pressed his lips to my hair. I shrugged and gave him a small smile as I pulled away, but only enough to look at him as I rested my hands on his chest.

"It's okay, Pete, it's alright. I'll always still have my golden retriever boyfriend, anyway." I teased.

"Hey!" He laughed and shook his head, making me smirk as I leant up and kissed him again.

Peter's P.O.V

The elevator stopped on the private floor of the Avengers' Tower, Peter stepping out of the glass box as he wandered out.

"Hello? Is anyone home?" He called out. He looked into the living room as Tony appeared.

"Oh, hey, kid. You okay? I didn't think that you were training until tonight." Tony scoffed.

"No, I'm not training until tonight, but, um...I'm here to talk to you about something." He nodded.

"Sure, Pete, anything." His mentor returned the nod as he looked at Peter with concerned eyes. Peter gulped and looked at him.

"Y/N really wants that puppy-." Tony's eyes widened.

"Oh my god-I'm going to kill her." Tony scoffed and shook his head, making Peter's eyes widen as Tony stormed into the living room.

"What, no, Mr Stark, she didn't send me here, I'm here without her knowing-."

"Well why are you here then? Surely, you know that I've said no to her so many times that I'm starting to get sick of my own voice, and you know that I love my own voice." He nodded.

"Mr Stark, she was really upset today at school. She said that it wasn't a big deal, she said that she was fine, but I can tell when she's upset. I know what your reasons are, Mr Stark, I get that, b-but I can help her look after this dog, together, we can do it, anything to convince you to let Y/N have this dog." He sighed and shook her head as he looked at Tony with pleading eyes. The man returned the sigh and looked at Peter.

"She really wants that dog, huh." He mumbled and nodded. Peter bit his lip and returned the nod.

"She really does, Mr Stark. You know just as well as I do that she'll be fine with that puppy. She'll be the best puppy mom." He shook his head. Tony sighed again.

"Goddammit-fine, yes, I guess that we can do that for Y/N. But do not tell her, Pete. If we're going to do this, I want it to be a surprise for her." He spoke. Peter's eyes widened, a breathless laugh leaving his lips at the fact that he had actually managed to convince Tony to get Y/N the puppy that she so badly wanted.

"Of course not, thank you so much, Mr Stark, thank you." Peter smiled, his heart starting to flutter in excitement purely in anticipation of the look on his girlfriend's face when she'd first see her brand new puppy. And he couldn't wait.

~Two weeks later~

Y/N's P.O.V

I leant down and blew out the candles on my birthday cake, making everyone laugh and cheer as I blew them all out. I returned the laugh and bit my lip, the living room of the Tower filled with all of my family and friends, as well as the rest of the team as we celebrated my seventeenth birthday.

"Thank you, guys, thank you so much." I smiled and looked around as Peter held me into his body by my waist.

"Okay, time for some birthday presents, I think. This one, first." Dad nodded, making me giggle in excitement as he picked up a relatively big box that had both the lid and box itself decorated in wrapping paper and a ribbon.

"Happy birthday, kid." Dad smiled as he cupped my cheek.

"Thank you, dad." I returned his smile before looking down at the box. I bit my lip and leant down, my fingers wrapping around the lid of the box before lifting it off. But as soon as I did, my heart stopped. My eyes widened, a gasp leaving my lips as the most beautiful Staffie puppy that I'd ever seen started to bark and jump up against the inside wall of the box, her tail wagging erratically as she looked up at me with gorgeous eyes.

"Oh my god, oh my god, I love her!" I exclaimed, tears immediately starting to leave my eyes as I gently picked her up and immediately took her into my arms.

"Do you like her, baby?" Peter smiled as he leant up and gently stroked her head too.

"Oh, she's perfect, she's beautiful! Dad, thank you so much!" I choked and shook my head.

"Don't thank me, kid. It was Pete who convinced me to do this." He admitted. My eyes widened, another choke leaving my lips as I looked at Peter. He gave me a sheepish smile.

"Surprise." He chuckled. I shook my head and kissed his cheek, making him smile and everyone make 'awe' sounds at the moment as I continued to stroke the perfect puppy. I bit my lip and looked at the collar that was already around her neck, my fingers gently raising the small metal charm so that I could see the name that she had been given.

"Oh my god. 'Tessa', it's perfect, I love both her and the name, I love her." I smiled and shook my head as I looked between Peter and my dad.

"I'm glad that you like her, kid. Happy birthday." Dad nodded.

"Yeah, happy birthday, angel." Peter smiled, making me return it and continued to cuddle Tessa as I also leant into Peter, and continued to stroke the most perfect gift that I'd ever received for my birthday.
