Not my blood, but close enough (Tom Holland)
Requested by mmmaaaaaaaaaa: Tom is a single parent to a little girl, who considers Y/N her mum since her biological mum left. She starts getting anxious about Y/N leaving too, so Y/N calms her down and reassures her that she's there to stay.
I knocked on my boyfriend, Tom's, front door, my feet taking a step back as I waited for someone to answer. Within seconds, the door flew open, making my eyes widen and a smile curl onto my lips at the pyjama-clad four-year-old girl who had opened it instead of my boyfriend.
"MUMMY!" She squealed, making me laugh as she jumped into my arms.
"Hello, Esme! My beautiful girl." I smiled as I leant in and kissed her cheek.
"And hello, my beautiful girl." I looked up, my smile widening and my heart fluttering as Tom wandered into the corridor of his house.
"Hey, Tommy." I spoke, making him wink at me as he leant down and gently kissed me.
"Come on, my love, time for you to go to bed." Tom spoke as he pulled away and looked at Esme.
"That's why you're in your pyjamas?" I chuckled and gently bobbed the little girl on my hip.
"Yes, it is, though she's been running around the house for the last twenty minutes, trying to avoid letting me take her to bed." Tom nodded, making Esme squeal and giggle as he teasingly pinched her cheek.
"I want mummy to put me to bed." She teased.
"That's fine, sweetheart, but you still need to go to bed. Even if mummy does it." Tom chuckled, making me smile as I started to head towards her bedroom, and Tom's hand found my waist. Tom and I had met three years ago, through our best friend, Harrison. Immediately we had clicked, my heart falling head over heels for the man within weeks as he showered me with love and affection. There was only one thing, and that was that he came with Esme. She had only been a year old at the time, but it was already a difficult situation. And that was because Tom's ex-girlfriend, and Esme's biological mother, had pretty much given birth and dumped her in Tom's arms before leaving and never contacting either of them again. It was a heartbreaking story, especially as I had fallen equally in love with Esme when I had met her. Tom and I had been together ever since, and Esme now saw her as her mother, despite Tom and I being open with her over the fact that I wasn't her biological mother. Though we also made it clear that that didn't mean I loved her any less, which was important especially as Tom and I were now looking at me moving in permanently, and us giving Esme a half-sibling. But for now, she was enough.
"Okay, darling, sleep well." I spoke softly as I carried the little girl into her bedroom and gently laid her down in her bed before pulling the covers over her small body.
"Goodnight, mummy and daddy. I love you." She yawned and closed her eyes as she tiredly rubbed them.
"We love you too, sweetheart. Goodnight." Tom spoke softly as he leant down and kissed her head before straightening back up. Together we crept out of the room, my boyfriend's hand once again holding my waist as he shut the door behind us. As soon as it was shut, he turned to me and bit his lip as his arms properly curled around my waist.
"Now that she's asleep, we can have some fun, huh?" Tom smirked and teasingly hovered his lips over mine.
"Thought you'd never ask." I giggled, making Tom's smirk widen as he leant down and kissed me. I returned it and let my eyes flutter shut, my hands curling around his neck to gently pull on his curls as his hands glided over my curves. I squealed and laughed against his lips as he pulled on my thighs and lifted me up, him returning the laugh as he carried me into his bedroom, and shut the door behind us.
My eyes fluttered open, my body waking itself up as a result of me needing the bathroom as I came to. I raised my head and couldn't help but smile to myself as Tom's arm was curled around my waist to hold my body into his own. Despite this hold, I gently moved his arm from around me and stepped out of bed and into the darkness, my watch telling me that it was two a.m. as I padded to the door. I opened it and headed out into the corridor towards the bathroom, but stopped as I heard something. My eyebrows furrowed and I looked towards Esme's closed bedroom door, the quiet sound of sniffling coming from the little girl's room. I went to it and gently opened it, my eyes widening with concern as the sound was clearly Esme crying and sniffling as her body lay buried underneath her blankets.
"Hey, hey, Esme, what's wrong? I cooed, making the little girl stir slightly as I immediately went to her bed and climbed in next to her before pulling her body into my arms.
"I-it's nothing, m-mummy, it's okay." She sniffled and shook her head.
"Come on, darling, you're clearly upset, and you know that you can tell me anything." I reassured as I gently combed my fingers through her hair. She let out a quiet sigh.
"I'm scared that you're going to leave me." Esme admitted quietly. My eyes widened.
"What, Esme?" I scoffed and looked down at her.
"I'm scared that you're going to leave me. Just like my real mummy did." She replied. My eyes wavered at her words, my heart plummeting in sadness at Esme thinking that I would leave her. But also the fact that she knew the truth about her biological mother too, I couldn't even imagine what that would do to a child her age.
"Oh, Esme. Darling, it's okay, I'm never going to leave you, I promise." I shook my head as I tried to keep my voice steady.
"That's what she told daddy, and she lied." She cried quietly. I bit my lip and tried not to cry too, though my heart was breaking even further with every word that Esme uttered.
"I want you to listen to me very carefully, okay, darling? I love you and your daddy, so much. You and your daddy are everything to me, you are my world. I could never bear to live without you two, especially you. You fill my heart so much with love, you make my life worth living, so does your daddy. Me being welcomed into your family truly made my life perfect, and that will never change. I am never going to leave you, Esme. I promise." I spoke, tears spilling down my face as I tried to convince the little girl of every word that I had just said. I wasn't sure if what I had said had truly worked, as the room filled with silence. But after a moment, I felt Esme relax slightly against me.
"Thank you, mummy. I'm glad that daddy found you." She responded quietly. I bit my lip harshly and squeezed my eyes shut, even more tears leaving my eyes at her beyond sweet words as I leant down and softly kissed her head.
"I'm glad that your daddy found me too." I replied, my heart so full of love for both Tom and his daughter as I continued to cuddle the little girl.
Tom's P.O.V
Tom's eyes fluttered open, his lips parting in a yawn as he came to. His eyebrows furrowed as his mind clocked the absence of Y/N's body next to his and in his arms, making him raise his head and look around his dark bedroom.
"Darling?" He called out groggily. His eyebrows furrowed as he also spotted the open bedroom door. He groaned quietly as he sat up and stood up, his feet silently padding along to it before heading out into the corridor.
"Hey, hey, Esme, what's wrong? Tom heard Y/N coo, making his eyebrows furrow in confusion at his girlfriend's words. He headed to his daughter's also open bedroom door but made sure not to disrupt the moment that was happening as he looked into the room whilst staying out of sight.
"I-it's nothing, m-mummy, it's okay." She sniffled.
"Come on, darling, you're clearly upset, and you know that you can tell me anything." Y/N reassured. Tom smiled slightly, his heart fluttering and filling with love at his girlfriend's words. At how much she loved Esme as if she was her own daughter, and how much that made Tom fall more for her each day.
"I'm scared that you're going to leave me." Esme admitted quietly. Tom's eyes widened.
"What, Esme?" Y/N scoffed.
"I'm scared that you're going to leave me. Just like my real mummy did." She replied. Tom's eyes wavered at her words, his heart breaking in sadness. After all, Tom had known from the second that Esme's biological mother had left them that one day, this would come up for Esme, and it looked like it finally was, which Tom had been dreading. He had been lucky enough to find the love of his life only a year after Esme was born, and Y/N was beyond incredible with his daughter, but he knew that that wouldn't stop doubts from creeping into the little girl's mind. And that fucking broke Tom's heart.
"Oh, Esme. Darling, it's okay, I'm never going to leave you, I promise." Y/N spoke, making Tom swallow thickly and try not to cry as he could hear in her voice that Y/N was also trying not to let any tears out.
"That's what she told daddy, and she lied." She cried quietly. Tom harshly bit his lip and tried not to cry too, though his heart was breaking even further with every word that Esme uttered. After all, of course those memories were still painful. Tom wasn't to be gotten wrong, he had been whole again from the second that Y/N had stepped into their lives, she was it for him and he didn't regret for a moment letting his ex walk away. What hurt was that it still affected Esme so much, at such a young age too. He couldn't bear to see his daughter in so much pain, but he knew that Y/N was the only one who could talk her out of that place.
I promise." Y/N spoke. Tom's eyes wavered, tears spilling down his face as he couldn't help but smile at his girlfriend's words to his daughter. How loving they were, how caring and heartfelt they were. That was just one of the things that Tom loved so much about his future wife. She never stopped caring. She never failed to show how genuinely she loved Tom and Esme, Esme as if she were her own daughter. Tom would never be able to say to her just how much he loved her for all of that, but he'd be damned if he didn't try.
"Thank you, mummy. I'm glad that daddy found you." She responded quietly. Tom's smile widened at Esme's words, his daughter truly his own blood.
"I'm glad that your daddy found me too." Y/N replied, making Tom's heart flutter once more before deciding that it was time to head back to bed. He padded back into his bedroom and lay back down, his hands pulling the sheets over his body as he rested his head against his pillow. He looked up as seconds later, Y/N walked back in too.
"You okay, darling? What are you doing up?" He asked quietly, his mind deciding to act like he hadn't heard Y/N and Esme's private conversation as his girlfriend walked around to her side of the bed and climbed back in.
"Just needed the bathroom, but Esme was a little upset, so I just lay with her for a bit." She responded as she rested her head and hand on Tom's chest and his arm curled around her waist.
"Is she okay? Do I need to go in?" Tom asked.
"No, no, she's okay. She's okay." Y/N nodded against his chest.
"I'm not surprised. As long as she has you, she'll always be okay. And so will I." He spoke gently. Y/N moved her head so that she was looking up at Tom, both of them smiling at each other as Tom leant down and gently pecked her lips.
"Goodnight, Tommy. I love you." She whispered as they broke the kiss and she rested her head back against his chest.
"Goodnight, sweetheart. I love you too." Tom spoke, his eyes fluttering shut as he slowly but surely fell back asleep with his arms wrapped securely around the love of his life.
