Knight in shining armour (Peter Parker)
Requested by buckysbarnesdoll: Y/N is walking home alone one night, and she notices that she's being followed. She notices Peter walking towards her, and so she pretends to know him so that the stranger will leave her alone. He plays along, and then takes her out for coffee before walking her home to make sure that she gets back safely.
"Are you sure that you're okay to lock up for the night?" MJ asked, my co-worker looking at me as I sat at the bar.
"Yeah, seriously, I'm fine, I promise." I nodded.
"Okay, but text me when you get home, and promise that you won't stay here too late." She insisted.
"Yes, mom." I teased, making her chuckle and shake her head as she leant in and hugged me before turning towards the door.
"Later, loser!" She called out as she opened the door.
"Bye, bitch!" I returned as the door shut behind her. I sighed and looked at my phone, the screen showing eleven-thirty pm to tell me that MJ was right, I should have been heading home soon. I was no one special, I was just a waitress in a bar alongside my best friend, who I'd met through work. My job was an easy enough one, the only problem being that the bar wasn't in the best area, so it wasn't a great idea to walk home alone. But, that was what I'd be doing tonight. I sighed and stood up, my hands automatically putting the strap of my bag onto my shoulder as I headed to the door. I left the bar and turned back to it, the key in my fingers locking the door before I turned and started to walk. My breath exploded into clouds in the icy winter air, my hands already starting to feel numb at how cold it was. But then, my mind became full of thoughts of something else. My eyebrows furrowed as I could seemingly hear footsteps behind me. I subtly looked over my shoulder, my eyes widening and my heart jumping in anxiety as I saw the man dressed in all black, following me. His hands were in his pockets and his head was down so that I couldn't see his face, making me gulp harshly as I turned back to face toward. I sped up slightly, my eyes wavering and starting to fill with tears as I could hear him speeding up too. This was bad, this was really fucking bad. It was dark, there was no one else around, and I was nowhere near home yet, so if this guy caught up to me, I was fucked. My heart was in my throat, my anxiety choking me alive as I walked as fast as I could without looking suspicious. Suddenly, a figure appeared in front of me, making my eyes widen as the boy was walking towards me on his phone. This was my get-out, if I could get him to act like he knew me, I would be safe. And so, that was what I'd do. The boy looked up at me, making me gulp as this was it.
"Oh my god, hi! It's been so long, I feel like I haven't seen you in forever!" I squealed, making the boy's eyes widen as I rushed to him and tightly hugged the stranger.
"What-."
"I'm being followed, please." I whispered into his ear.
"Hey, how have you been? You're right that it's been far too long." The boy chuckled as he pulled away, though his hands stayed on my waist as he looked past me at the man who had been following me. I gulped and followed his gaze, the stranger timidly glancing at us before turning and walking back the way that he'd come. I took a deep breath, my eyes fluttering shut as the boy looked at me.
"You okay?" He checked.
"Yeah, thank you so much for that. He'd been behind me since I left work, he was clearly following me." I gulped.
"No, of course, I'm glad that you did that so that I could step in. I'm Peter, by the way." He nodded as he extended his hand for me to shake.
"I'm Y/N." I gave him a small smile as I shook his hand. But as soon as our skin touched, something in me ignited. His skin was so soft, his hand larger than mine but in a way that made my hand fit perfectly into his grasp. As if we had been made to hold each other's hands. Peter obviously felt it too, the boy giving me a small smile as his eyes flicked over my face.
"Can I take you out for a coffee? Maybe that'll help calm you down and stuff." He nodded.
"Yeah, I'd really like that. There's a twenty-four-hour coffee shop near my home, if that works?" I asked.
"Awesome, let's go." He smiled, making me return it and bite my lip as Peter shoved his hands into his jacket pockets, and we started to walk towards my home.
Peter's P.O.V
Peter walked along the dark street, his eyes on his phone as he went on a late night walk. The boy hadn't been able to sleep, and so he figured that he may as well go for a walk instead. Suddenly, his Spidey senses started to go off, making Peter's eyebrows furrow. He looked up to see a girl with fear in her eyes rushing towards him as she gulped. Peter had to admit that even with how scared she look, and even in this light, he could still see how fucking stunning she was. And so whatever she needed from him, he'd do what he could to help her.
"Oh my god, hi! It's been so long, I feel like I haven't seen you in forever!" The stranger squealed, making Peter's eyes widen as she rushed to him and tightly hugged him.
"What-."
"I'm being followed, please." She whispered into his ear. His eyes widened, his Spidey senses being set off now making sense as this girl was clearly in danger.
"Hey, how have you been? You're right that it's been far too long." Peter chuckled and played along as he pulled away, though his hands stayed on her waist to make her feel protected as he looked past her. His jaw clenched, the girl gulping as Peter's eyes landed on the man who had been following her. Peter didn't need his superpowers to be able to tell that whatever this guy was following the girl for, it wasn't good. The stranger timidly glanced at the pair of them before turning and walking back the way that he'd come. The girl took a deep breath, her eyes fluttering shut as Peter looked at her.
"You okay?" He checked, his heart already filled with concern for her as he studied her carefully.
"Yeah, thank you so much for that. He'd been behind me since I left work, he was clearly following me." She gulped.
"No, of course, I'm glad that you did that so that I could step in. I'm Peter, by the way." He nodded as he extended his hand for her to shake.
"I'm Y/N." She gave him a small and beautiful smile as she shook his hand. But as soon as their skin touched, Peter felt what could only be described as a spark. Her skin was so soft and delicate, her hand small enough to fit perfectly into his grasp. Peter gave Y/N a small smile as his eyes flicked over her beautiful face.
"Can I take you out for a coffee? Maybe that'll help calm you down and stuff." He nodded.
"Yeah, I'd really like that. There's a twenty-four-hour coffee shop near my home, if that works?" She asked.
"Awesome, let's go." He smiled, making her return it and bite her lip as Peter shoved his hands into his jacket pockets, and the pair started to walk towards this cafe.
Y/N's P.O.V
"I can't believe it, such a small world, oh my god." I chuckled and shook my head, Peter smiling at me as we walked to my house with coffee cups in our hands.
"I know, it's fucking insane." He scoffed as the kind boy walked me home. Over coffee, Peter had asked me where I worked, which led us both to the incredible realisation that we unknowingly shared a best friend. MJ had always told me about how amazing her best friend, Peter, was, and how well we'd get on together. Similarly, MJ had been telling Peter the same things about me, so it was insane that he ended up being the one to save me from the stranger following me. After he'd helped me calm down in the cafe, he had offered to walk me back, and I had happily accepted the kind offer. I already felt infinitely safer with Peter by my side, and I loved that about him.
"Well, this is me." I gave Peter a small smile as I slowed down in front of my apartment building, making Peter slow down too.
"Are you sure that you're okay? Because I know that you were super rattled by that guy, which of course is understandable." He nodded, his gorgeous eyes full of concern as they flicked over my face.
"To be honest, Peter, I felt so much safer from the moment that I saw you. I was okay the moment that I saw you." I admitted. He nodded again and gave me a small smile, the boy's cheeks blushing slightly as he timidly looked at me.
"I, um...I'm sorry if this feels like insensitive timing, but I was wondering if I could have your number? You just seem so fucking nice, talking to you feels so natural, so I'd love to see you again, just under less terrifying circumstances." He chuckled. I smiled and bit my lip at his words, my heart appreciating the fact that he was trying to make me feel better.
"Yeah, Pete. I'd love to see you again too." I admitted before gently taking his phone from his hand. He watched me intently as I typed my number into his phone before giving it back to him and looking up at him.
"I'll see you around, Y/N." He gave me a small smile.
"See you, Pete." I returned before leaning up and hugging him. He returned it, my eyes fluttering shut and my heart settling at how perfect and natural it already felt to be in the boy's arms. This was going to be so much more than just a random guy who had saved me, I could feel that already. And for that, I couldn't wait.
