Gingerbread houses (Peter Parker)
Requested by Ms_Biltmore: The Avengers have a gingerbread house building and decorating competition, and Peter and Y/N are a team.
*Hello my loves, obviously I posted an announcement yesterday saying that I probably wouldn't be writing now, and obviously this is a new chapter haha, but I wanted to do a festive one before Christmas. That being said, for obvious reasons, this will be the last chapter before Christmas, obviously I won't be uploading tomorrow, and will see about the days after. Anyway, I just wanted to say that I hope that everyone has a very Merry Christmas, or good holiday whatever you may or may not celebrate!! That is all, thank you, love you, and as always, take care of yourselves. See you after Christmas :) xxx*
I stood in my bedroom, my eyes glued to my face in my mirror as I carefully did my eyeliner to make it just right. I nodded to myself as I pulled away and capped the tube again.
"Perfect." I mumbled to myself. As if on cue, a gentle knock sounded on my door, making me look at it as it opened, and my boyfriend's head peeked into my room.
"Mr Stark said that we could come out now, babe." Peter nodded.
"Awesome, let's go." I smiled, making him return it as I walked to him and took his arm. This year was my first Christmas with the Avengers, and I was so excited. I had been recruited by them nine months ago, when they had discovered that I was another former test subject of HYDRA's, and therefore had the same powers as Wanda. They had taken me in, with Peter and I immediately getting along. He had asked me out within a month of us getting to know each other, and we'd been dating ever since. Now, since I had been a test subject of HYDRA's, I hadn't experienced a Christmas since my childhood, and so Tony had promised to make my first one in fifteen years super special. And, well...he succeeded. Peter and I walked out of my room, my hand gently holding his arm as we walked along the hallway. As soon as we got to the living room door, my eyes widened.
"Oh my god!" I gasped, making Peter smile and look at me as we walked into the room. I stared in awe at the absolutely beautiful transformation that had made the normally mundane common space into the perfect winter wonderland. Threads of fairy lights were hanging from the ceiling, lighting the room up stunningly as they sat among bits of fake slow that were also hanging down to look like bits of snow mid-fall. The Christmas tree had been set up, the luscious green leaves smelling absolutely divine as what must have been a hundred presents sat underneath, all of them different shapes, sizes and colours. An impressive spread of random treats and snacks sat on the coffee table to help ourselves to before Christmas dinner, all of it smelling purely like Christmas. I was in love.
"So, what do you think, kiddo?" I looked up, Tony giving me a small smile as him and the rest of the team walked in, all of them wearing ugly Christmas sweaters.
"It's absolutely incredible, thank you so much, guys." I smiled and shook my head.
"Well, we had to make your first Christmas in a decade one to remember." Peter chuckled, making me smile and bite my lip at my boyfriend as I rested my head on his shoulder.
"So, we're starting off the festivities with a gingerbread house building and decorating competition, so let's go." Tony announced, making me giggle in giddy anticipation as we all headed into the kitchen.
"Okay, so, I'm assuming that everyone knows the rules of a gingerbread house competition. We're all in teams of two, and at the end, Happy will objectively judge which house is the best built, and which is the best decorated." Tony explained with a nod. The teams that we'd been put into had worked out pretty well, with Peter and I of course being together, Natasha and Steve being together, Bruce and Clint, Wanda and Vision, and finally Pepper and Tony together. Peter and I were going to kick ass.
"Sorry, your head of security and best friend is meant to subjectively judge this competition? We're meant to believe that that'll be fair, are we?" Natasha scoffed as she put a hand on her hip.
"But by that logic, he won't be subjective for Pete either, since he had a fling with his aunt." Tony returned as he also raised his hand to gesture to Peter.
"We don't talk about that." Peter sighed and shook his head.
"Anyway, everything on the table is fair game to use. I shouldn't have to say this but I will, since I feel like some of you need to be told, no names are being mentioned, but sharing is caring, so don't be hogging any of the decorations." Tony nodded.
"Yes, mom." Wanda scoffed.
"Everyone start, may the best house win!" Tony declared. Immediately, each pair started talking between themselves, mine and Peter's eyes flicking over the assortment of sweets and candies to put on the houses as we decided what we wanted.
"Those chocolates will look really nice, Pete." I nodded as I pointed to the bowl of multi-coloured chocolates.
"Yeah, we'll have those." He returned before we both looked up. My eyes widened, Natasha and Steve giving us a death stare from across the table as we talked. Natasha's eyes flicked down to the bowl, making me gulp as it was clear that they also wanted the chocolates first. The issue was that there was only one bowl.
"Now, let's just take it easy, no one needs to get hurt-."
"Pete-."
"Yep." He nodded before quickly extending his arm. He fired a web at the bowl, making Natasha and Steve's eyes widen as he pulled his arm back to make the bowl land in his hand.
"Hey! No fair, no powers at the table!" Steve exclaimed.
"It wasn't in the rules, so it's not illegal." I smirked, making Peter chuckle and shake his head as I put icing on the house to stick the chocolates down before he pressed the chocolates to the spots.
I stuck my tongue out slightly in concentration, all of us silent as we worked on our respective gingerbread houses. Mine and Peter's was coming along nicely, with the structure being sound and the outside being nicely decorated as we approached the end of the competition.
"Alright, angel...I think that we're almost done. How about we just sprinkle a little powdered sugar over it to make it look snowy, and then I'm happy." Peter nodded, his eyes glued to the house as he stood up properly and looked at it.
"I love that idea." I smiled before looking at the table. I groaned quietly as the bowl of powdered sugar was all the way on the other side of the table, making me roll my eyes as I extended my hand to point at it. My red energy emerged from my hand and wrapped around it before starting to lift the bowl.
"Not so fast." My eyes widened, an annoyed groan leaving my lips as another stream of red energy, this time coming from Wanda, wrapped around from the other side of the bowl to stop my powers from being able to bring it over to me.
"Wanda, let go." I scoffed.
"You let go, honey, we need it too." She nodded.
"I had it first." I spat.
"I'm older." She smiled, making me roll my eyes as I increased my energy. Wanda did the same, making everyone start to look at us as we tugged the bowl of sugar between us.
"This isn't going to end well." Peter gulped.
"The kid is right, one of you let go before it goes everywhere." Tony demanded.
"Wanda can let go, I had it first." I smiled sarcastically at my mentor from across the table.
"I taught you how to do what you're doing right now, I'd say that that gives me the rights to the icing sugar." She nodded.
"Maybe she's right, baby, just let her have it." Peter spoke as he placed his hand on mine. My eyes widened.
"Peter, NO!" My energy broke off as a result of the contact, sending the bowl flying into the air. We all groaned as within seconds, the powdered sugar was everywhere, the substance coating us all as the bowl fell back down to the table with a clatter. We all looked around with wide eyes, all of us caked in it and therefore white as sheets as a result. I bit my lip and looked at Peter. He chuckled and shook his head, his once hazel curls now snow white as he tried to shake the sugar out of them. I couldn't help but chuckle too, my chuckle getting louder and turning into a quiet laugh as the others started to laugh too. I looked around the table, all of us laughing and shaking our heads at the utter stupidity of what had just happened. I bit my lip and looked at Wanda, my mentor smiling and winking at me as we continued to all laugh and joke about what had just happened.
Peter and I lay in his bed, the pair of us cuddling after the long day that we'd had as we winded down from everything. After all of that, Natasha and Steve had ended up winning the gingerbread house competition, and so now I'd believe until the day that I died that Peter and I had been robbed. But right now, lying in the arms of the love of my life...I didn't care.
"Baby, I know that we said that we wouldn't do presents, since it's our first Christmas together, but I got you something anyway." Peter admitted. I looked up at him.
"Aw, Pete, that's lovely, but you shouldn't have." I sighed as he reached into his bedside table and got out a small wrapped box before we both sat up in his bed.
"I know, and I wasn't going to, but then I just saw this, and knew that it would be perfect for you. So, I got it." He smiled. I returned it and bit my lip, my hands gently taking the box as I leant forward and kissed him before looking down at the present. I unwrapped it, my eyebrows furrowing as the paper tore away to reveal what looked to be a black necklace box. I opened it and my eyes widened.
"Oh, Peter." I choked, my heart swelling in love and tears pricking my eyes as I carefully lifted the absolutely stunning golden locket necklace out of the box.
"There's more, angel. Open it." He nodded. I bit my lip and gently opened the locket, my eyes wavering at what I saw. Inside was a copy of the first selfie that Peter and I had taken, me laughing and smiling at the camera as Peter kissed my cheek. I shook my head, tears starting to leave my eyes at how perfect his first gift to me was.
"Peter, it's...it's beautiful. Thank you so much, I love it." I choked as I looked back up at him.
"May I?" He asked as he raised his hands. I nodded and gave him the locket before scooting around so that my back was turned to him. I felt his warm hands on my neck within seconds, the chain falling against my skin as he clasped it on. I couldn't help but smile as Peter placed a few gentle kisses on my neck before gently turning me back around to face him again.
"Merry Christmas, baby. I love you so much." He smiled and shook his head.
"Merry Christmas, Pete. I love you too." I whispered, making his smile widen as he leant in and gently kissed me.
