Gifts (Peter Parker)
Requested by black_bxtch_: Y/N and Peter are avengers, and Peter asks Y/N out. But because he's a year younger than her, she says no. With Tony's help, Peter gives Y/N gifts and does different things for her until she says yes. They go out, and Y/N finds herself really liking Peter during the date.
*Just a lil' note: in this imagine, Y/N says no to Peter, and then gets convinced by him, as the request suggests. I want to stress though that no one is ever under ANY obligation to say yes to someone who they don't like. Of course Y/N likes him back in this chapter, but it's a very messed up narrative in our society that girls especially should say yes to a date with a guy, even if they don't like him like that. This is a bullshit narrative, and so whilst please keep in mind that this is not the case here, you ALWAYS have the option to say no, even to something as menial as a date. Thank you, my loves, and enjoy xxx*
I headed into the common room of the Tower, my heart fluttering slightly in my chest as I saw Peter sat at the breakfast bar.
"Morning, Pete." I spoke, making the boy look up at me as he was alerted to my presence. His eyes widened slightly.
"H-hey, Y/N, you okay?" He chuckled nervously as he gave me a small smile.
"Yeah, you?" I returned.
"U-um, yeah, but, erm, can I ask you something?" He gulped as he stood up. My eyebrows furrowed in confusion, something about the anxiety on Peter's face making me also worry in return about what he wanted to ask.
"Course you can, Pete." I nodded. He returned it and looked at me, his admittedly beautiful chocolate eyes filling with fear.
"I, um...I was wondering if I could take you on a date." He spoke. My eyes widened slightly, my gaze also wavering at his words. Because whilst I had suspected that this would come eventually, I had just hoped that it wouldn't. Ever since I had joined the Avengers six months ago, I could tell that Peter liked me as more than just a friend. I would admit that my heart did flutter at the thought of him too, his kind and gentle personality being dressed up in a stunning package of chocolate eyes, hazel curls, and a six-pack. I had to admit that I liked him back, but there was one big issue for me. And that was that he was a year younger than me. Granted that he was nineteen, and I was twenty, so it wasn't as if I was an adult who was being asked out by a sixteen-year-old. But something about it still felt a little off, a little weird. And so, as much as I'd admit that I found the boy cute, I also felt like saying no to him was the right option. At least, for now.
"I-I, um...Pete, I'm flattered, I really am, but, you're just...you're too young for me." I admitted with a sigh and a shake of my head. His eyes widened, his mouth falling open in clear confusion.
"W-what? I'm only a year younger than you, I'm nineteen, I'm an adult." He scoffed.
"I know, Pete, but I'm sorry. It just doesn't feel right right now. I'm sorry." I gulped. He returned it and nodded, the boy's heart clearly breaking as he gave me a small and yet still forced smile.
"I-it's okay, I, um, I get it. I'll see you around?" He asked hopefully. I sighed and bit my lip, my heart swelling at the fact that even rejection from his crush couldn't stop Peter from being lovely and kind.
"Course you will, Pete." I nodded, making him return it and give me another small smile as I turned and left the kitchen. And I had to admit that I left with a little bit of regret.
Peter's P.O.V
Peter sat at the breakfast bar in the common room, his eyes on his phone as he just chilled before his training slot.
"Morning, Pete." Peter looked up, his eyes widening slightly and his heart fluttering in his chest at the sight of his crush walking into the room. But with that also came a lot of nerves. After all, this was the morning that Peter was finally going to ask Y/N out, after six months of friendship. Since the moment that the beautiful girl had joined the team six months ago, Peter had fallen head over heels for her. Everything about her was simply perfect, from her gentle smile and laugh, to the way that she could kick his ass in training like no one else could. Peter loved it all, and he wanted to make her his, even if he was a little younger than her. Though, he hoped that that wouldn't matter.
"H-hey, Y/N, you okay?" He chuckled nervously as he gave her a small smile.
"Yeah, you?" She returned.
"U-um, yeah, but, erm, can I ask you something?" He gulped as he stood up. Her eyebrows furrowed in confusion, Peter terrified that the anxiety that he was feeling was showing on his face as he walked to her.
"Course you can, Pete." She nodded. He returned it and looked at her.
"I, um...I was wondering if I could take you on a date." He spoke. Y/N's eyes widened slightly, making Peter gulp harshly as her gaze also wavered. Fuck, that doesn't look good, Peter thought as he could see her contemplating it, and deciding how to respond.
"I-I, um...Pete, I'm flattered, I really am, but, you're just...you're too young for me." Y/N sighed and shook her head. Peter's eyes widened, his mouth falling open as a mix of embarrassment and confusion ran through his head. What did she mean that he was too young for her? He was only a year younger, and they were both adults, so it wasn't like what they would be doing anything that was fucked up in any way.
"W-what? I'm only a year younger than you, I'm nineteen, I'm an adult." He scoffed.
"I know, Pete, but I'm sorry. It just doesn't feel right right now. I'm sorry." She gulped. He returned it and nodded, the boy's heart breaking harshly as he gave her a small and yet still forced smile.
"I-it's okay, I, um, I get it. I'll see you around?" Peter asked hopefully. Y/N sighed and bit her lip.
"Course you will, Pete." She nodded, making him return it and give her another small smile as she turned and left the kitchen. Peter's eyes wavered as he watched her leave, his heart sinking as he looked down, and buried his face into his hands.
"Fuck. Fuck, fuck, fuck." He mumbled quietly, as the embarrassment and confusion also started to be accompanied by fear that he'd fucked up their friendship. After all, if he couldn't have her as his girlfriend, he sure as shit wanted to keep her as a friend.
"You okay there, kid?" He looked up again, a quiet sigh leaving his lips as Tony walked in.
"Not really, no. I just asked Y/N out, and she said no." Peter nodded. Tony's eyes widened slightly.
"Shit, Pete, I'm sorry. I'd love to reassure you that I know how that feels, but I've never been rejected before." Tony shrugged. Peter sighed and looked down again.
"I don't know what to do, Mr Stark. She rejected me because I'm apparently too young for her, and it's not like I can do anything about that." He scoffed and shook his head.
"Well, I guess that you have to show her that you're willing to put the effort in. That you're mature enough to understand what she needs and wants in a relationship, and that you're willing to give that to her." Tony spoke. Peter nodded and bit his lip, his eyebrows furrowed in thought as he looked back up at his mentor.
"I think that I have an idea on how to do that. But I'm going to need your help."
Y/N's P.O.V
I walked along the hallway of the Tower, my hands using the towel to dry my hair from the shower that I had just had as I headed back to my room. I opened my door, and immediately saw it. My eyebrows furrowed, confusion filling my head at the gorgeous bouquet of flowers that was gently laid against my bed sheets. I plucked the note from the outer packaging before opening it.
Just the first of many romantic gestures to come, to prove that I'm mature enough for you, and that I'll treat you right :) - P xxx
I couldn't help but smile and bite my lip, my heart fluttering in my chest at both the gesture and his words. I had already regretted saying no to Peter enough, and this was making me regret it even more. Though, it did also give me the hope that he wouldn't give in, but at the same time I knew that if I'd given him a definite no, he would have respected that too. Maybe I had been too rash in rejecting him so quickly, this was clearly his way of proving that despite our admittedly small age gap, he was on my level of maturity. And that was exactly what I wanted to see. I chuckled and shook my head as I picked up the flowers and sat down on my bed, my eyes dancing over the beautiful colours, and my heart fluttering at the thought that Peter clearly liked me enough to pull this off. Pull off, in his words, what would be the start of many more romantic gestures to come.
My eyes fluttered open, them squinting as the morning sunlight filled my room. I let out a big yawn, my limbs stretching out as much as they could as I woke up fully. I sighed and sat up before putting my legs over the side of my bed. After all, I had to eat before training, and training started imminently. I stood up and wandered out of my room, my eyes still filled with sleep as I dragged myself reluctantly along to the common room. My heart jumped in my chest, a slight blush creeping over my cheeks as I saw Peter sitting at the breakfast bar. Just where he'd been on the morning that he'd asked me out.
"Morning, Pete." I greeted, making him look up at me.
"Morning, Y/N. Come here, I have something for you." He smiled. My eyebrows furrowed, my lips trying to suppress the smirk that I felt coming on as I walked towards him.
"What have you done?" I asked accusingly, making him chuckle and shake his head as I hopped up onto the bar stool next to him.
"Nothing bad, I promise." He smiled before pushing the pink cake box towards me. My eyebrows furrowed and I looked at him before returning my gaze to the box. I opened it, my face dropping as the most amazing smell of salted caramel immediately escaped from the breakfast doughnut that the box was home to.
"Oh my god, that smells amazing." I sighed in bliss as I leant down and let the glorious scent fill my nose, my eyes fluttering shut as it did.
"Yeah? I got the flavour right?" Peter asked hopefully.
"You nailed it, Pete, you know that I love salted caramel." I smiled as I sat back up and looked at him. I bit my lip.
"Tell me that you didn't go out of your way to do this for me this morning." I teased.
"If I said that, I'd be lying. And Aunt May raised me not to lie." He nodded as he raised his mug of coffee to his lips. I smirked and bit my lip as I gently nudged his shoulder with mine, making the boy lean in and kiss my head as my heart fluttered with the second lovely gesture that Peter had pulled off. And I had to admit that I was falling for him more with each one.
I stared at the chore list, my eyebrows furrowed and my hands on my hips as all of my chores for the day had been checked off as completed. The thing was that I hadn't completed a single one yet. I looked to my side as Tony walked towards me.
"Hey, Tony, why are my chores crossed off? I haven't done them yet." I scoffed and shook my head.
"That's because Pete did them for you." Tony stated with a nod. My eyebrows straightened out again, a small smile tugging onto my lips as I shook my head again.
"He didn't." I sighed, though internally my heart was exploding with love for yet another romantic and kind gesture that Peter had done for me.
"Oh, he did. He really likes you, kiddo. He's serious about you." He chuckled.
"So I'm learning." I returned the chuckle, making Tony smile at me as I walked away from the chart, and towards our rooms. I got to Peter's door within seconds, and raised my fist to gently knock against the door. After a moment it opened, Peter's lips curling into a smile as he saw me.
"Y/N, hey-."
"I'll go on a date with you." I cut him off with a nod. His eyes widened, his mouth falling open in shock as he stood up straight.
"W-wait, what?" He gulped.
"Look, Pete, you've been pulling off insanely romantic gestures all week, you've given me some absolutely lovely stuff, and I've appreciated it all. You've proven to me that you're on my level of maturity, and that I can trust you to treat us like a real relationship. So, yes, I'll go on a date with you." I nodded.
"O-oh my god-thank you, Y/N, thank you, you won't regret it." He smiled and shook his head.
"I know that I won't, Pete." I reassured, making his smile widen as I turned and headed back down the hallway.
"I'm serious, that was the best food ever." I spoke, making Peter laugh as we walked down the hallway of the Tower with our hands joined and fingers intertwined.
"It was good food. But personally, I liked the company more." He replied as he looked down at me. I smiled and bit my lip, making him chuckle as he leant down and kissed my head. Peter and I had gone out for the first time tonight, and it had been nothing short of perfect. The boy had been a gentleman the entire time, and had made me feel like I was worth my weight in gold. Throughout the night I had spotted more nuanced things that I fell for more by the second, and so he was walking me back to my room having convinced me that I really did like him back. I liked him just as much as he liked me.
"So, the million dollar question, did you have fun tonight?" Peter asked hopefully as we stopped at my door. I bit my lip and looked up at him.
"I really did, Pete. I loved every second of it." I admitted.
"So...what about a second date?" He smiled cheekily, making me laugh and shake my head as I rested my hands against his chest, and he curled his arms around my waist.
"A second date sounds perfect." I nodded. He returned it, making me smile as he leant down and gently kissed me. I returned the kiss, my eyes fluttering shut and my hands raising to hold his face as his hands glided over my waist. I had to admit that the kiss was even more perfect than the date, Peter's lips were soft and gentle against mine, and I loved that. I'd definitely have to kiss him more often. He broke the kiss and looked at me.
"Goodnight, beautiful." He spoke softly, the nickname making my heart flutter in my chest.
"Goodnight, Pete." I whispered before leaning up and pecking his lips once more before leaving his arms, and slipping into my room, after what had been a perfect date, with the perfect boy. And now, he was my perfect boy.
