Tom's P.O.V
"Okay, so all of the milk that I've pumped recently is in the freezer, you know how to thaw it, don't give him formula, the pediatrician said no formula yet, I bought him some more nappies yesterday, so that should be all fine, and he's just woken up from his nap, so he should be okay for a while." Y/N gulped, Tom's wife rushing around the house and shoving stuff into her bag as Tom followed her with their sleeping two week old baby cradled in his arms.
"Darling, I know, because I woke him up." Tom chuckled. Y/N sighed and gave him a small smile as she looked at Oscar.
"Are you sure that you're going to be okay with him, Tommy?" She asked.
"Of course I will be, sweetheart, he is my son. I've got Haz and Jacob here too to help, and besides, he loves his daddy." Tom smiled and looked down at the baby, making Y/N chuckle and shake her head. When Tom had found out that his wife of five years was pregnant with their first child, he was absolutely over the moon. His heart had become full the second that he'd seen his son, the little boy quickly becoming the light of his life. But since he'd been born, two weeks ago, Tom hadn't been left alone with him, him and Y/N had looked after him together, or she had looked after him alone. And so now that she had to go and run some errands that had to be done today, Tom was left to look after their newborn son. By himself.
"I shouldn't be too long, I don't have that many places to go." Y/N reassured as she pulled her shoes on and shrugged her coat on too.
"Take as long as you need to, my love. Because I have this. Don't I, Oz, don't I?" He cooed as he looked down at their now back asleep son.
"Well doesn't that answer just fill you with confidence?" Y/N teased. Tom playfully rolled his eyes and shook his head, making Y/N chuckle as he leant in and kissed her.
"See you soon, darling. Love you." He spoke as he continued to gently cradle Oscar.
"Love you too, Tommy. See you later." She nodded before heading out of the house and shutting the door. Tom sighed and looked down at the sleeping baby.
"Just you and me now, bud. Well, uncle Haz and uncle Jacob too." He chuckled, his lips forming into a smile at the sight of his son as he carried him back into the living room.
Tom sat on the carpet in the living room, Oscar on his back on the floor and Tom gently moving his legs around as Jacob and Harrison sat on the sofa behind them with their eyes glued to the TV. Tom playfully gasped and smiled at Oscar, the baby squealing and cooing in excitement at his dad as he waved his fists in the air.
"You're such a good boy, aren't you, Oz? You're being such a good boy for daddy." Tom cooed and shook his head.
"Mate, I love you, but are you going to be talking to him like that for the whole afternoon?" Harrison chuckled.
"He's two weeks old, Haz, this is how you're meant to talk to such a young baby. Anyway, I thought that you two were supposed to be helping me." He scoffed as he looked over his shoulder at the other two men.
"Nah, you're doing a great job embarrassing yourself with baby talk alone." Jacob teased, making Tom chuckle and shake his head as he looked back down at Oscar. Suddenly, the most foul smell started to fill the room, making Tom's smile dip.
"Oh my god, what the fuck is that?" Harrison coughed.
"Hey, no swearing in front of my baby. I think that he needs changing." Tom mumbled as he started to unbutton Oscar's onesie.
"Could never have figured that one out, genius." Jacob scoffed.
"You two were complaining about not being able to help, now you can help. Jacob, grab me a spare nappy, please, and Haz, there's a changing mat in that box." Tom instructed as he pointed to the box. He continued to undo Oscar's onesie and gently pull the baby's limbs out of it as the men grabbed what they had been told to grab.
"Okay, bud, time for a change, be good for daddy, now." He smiled and shook his head as he gently lifted Oscar up and laid him against his shoulder. Harrison put the changing mat down onto the floor, Tom lying Oscar back down on it before starting to undo the nappy.
"My god, it smells even worse now." Jacob gagged as Tom's eyebrows furrowed at the smell, and he tried not to cough on his son.
"Yeah, well, welcome to the perils of having a baby." He coughed as he opened the nappy.
"Fuck me, one of you take that." He groaned, his eyes squeezing shut as he held up the dirty nappy for one of them to bin.
"Jacob." Harrison nodded, making Jacob's eyes widen.
"Are you kidding?! You take it!" He exclaimed.
"Why can't you?!"
"Why can't YOU?!"
"Guys, my son is currently lying naked on the floor, needing to be cleaned up, one of you just take the damn nappy." Tom spat. Harrison rolled his eyes and took the nappy to bin it, making Tom sigh as he gently took Oscar's legs and wiped his son down with a wipe.
"Right..." He mumbled as he slid the nappy underneath Oscar.
"Here we go." He nodded before just looking at his son. Oscar giggled and stuck his fist into his mouth, making Tom sigh and bite his lip.
"Dude, what's wrong?" Jacob scoffed.
"Nothing, I just...I'm trying to remember exactly how to do this." He admitted. Harrison and Jacob's eyes widened.
"Sorry, you had nine months to practice and another two weeks once he was born, and you still can't put a nappy on him?!" Harrison exclaimed.
"It's a lot harder on a real, moving, crying baby! Anyway, of course I can, but usually Y/N is here to help me remember the bits that I always forget." He sighed.
"Well, you better figure it out before he starts-." Suddenly, Oscar started to pee, making all three of the men's eyes widen.
"BEFORE HE STARTS DOING THAT!"
"SHIT!" Tom yelled as he quickly pulled the nappy from underneath Oscar before putting it over his front instead so that the stream didn't go everywhere.
"Grab more nappies, quickly, Y/N will kill me if I let Oscar piss on the carpet!" Tom yelled, both Jacob and Harrison scrambling to throw him more nappies.
"How can such a small body create so much piss?!" Harrison scoffed, making Oscar giggle and Tom sigh as he just about managed to get a nappy underneath his son whilst holding another one above him to stop the stream from going everywhere.
"And...done." He puffed out as he got the flaps stuck down so that Oscar now had a nappy on again.
"Dude, that doesn't look like it's on properly." Jacob shook his head, Tom's eyebrows furrowing as all three of them looked at Oscar.
"No, it doesn't, but it'll have to do until he's stopped pissing." Tom sighed, the others nodding and returning it as Tom took a deep breath.
"No, not behind the peas, behind the fucking broccoli!" Tom yelled, one of his hands pointing at the open freezer as his other arm cradled a screaming and crying Oscar.
"Are you sure that that's where Y/N left it?!" Harrison shouted back as him and Jacob desperately tried to find some milk for Oscar to stop the baby from crying, like he'd been doing for half an hour now.
"I'm positive, she told me right before she left, she said there was some in the freezer! Oh, fuck, I forgot to thaw it, though!" Tom groaned and squeezed his eyes shut, making Oscar let out another shriek.
"I know, my love, I know, we'll get you food soon, I promise." He sighed as he looked down at the baby. His face was red from screaming, his skin wet as tears continued to pour out of his eyes.
"HA! FOUND IT!" Jacob announced triumphantly as he held up the bag of frozen milk.
"Great, now get it in the sink and get it thawed." Tom nodded. The men returned it as they rushed to get it into the sink and thaw it, Tom not being able to do anything else but try and cradle his screaming baby. He knew Oscar's screams by now, he knew that this one was his hungry one, so he knew that he wouldn't stop screaming until he got fed.
"Okay, okay, it's thawed, here." Harrison nodded as he handed Tom the bottle of milk.
"Is it the right temperature?" Tom asked as he looked at his best friend. Harrison's eyes widened slightly and he shrugged.
"I'm not a dad, how the fuck am I supposed to know-."
"Oh my god." Tom mumbled and shook his head as he gently splashed a bit of the milk onto his arm to check the temperature. He nodded to himself before gently putting the bottle to Oscar's lips. Immediately, he latched on and started to drink, making all three men sigh in relief as Tom's eyes fluttered shut.
"Finally." Jacob mumbled.
"That's a good boy, Oz, that's a good boy." Tom sighed as he sat down on the floor and rested his back and head against the wall, his eyes fluttering in exhaustion as he held the bottle to Oscar's lips.
Y/N's P.O.V
I opened the front door, my eyes looking around as I crept into the house. Normally, I would yell out to Tom, but it was past Oscar's bedtime, and so I didn't want to risk waking up our sleeping baby. I crept into the living room and my heart immediately melted at what I saw. I smiled and bit my lip at the sight of Tom, Harrison and Jacob all fast asleep, Tom lying on the sofa with his arm lulling by his side and his other hand protectively on Oscar's back as our baby also lay asleep on his chest. The sight of my husband and son together, especially like this, made my heart swell so much in love that I was tempted to let Tom babysit him by himself more in future, just so that I could come back again to this perfect sight. Jacob was on the other sofa whilst Harrison had seemed to just pass out on the floor with nothing more than a pillow underneath his head. I chuckled and shook my head as I got out my phone and quietly took a picture of the clearly exhausted men before going up to Tom.
"Tommy." I whispered as I gently put my hand on his cheek. My husband's eyes fluttered open, making me smile and bite my lip at him as he looked around with furrowed eyebrows.
"Hey, love. What happened, what time is it?" He mumbled.
"You tell me, I literally just came back and found all of you asleep. Was he okay?" I asked quietly as I rested my other hand on our son's head.
"Yeah, was an angel." He smiled tiredly. I chuckled and shook my head as I gently put my hands around Oscar, the baby fussing but not waking up as I laid him against my shoulder.
"Go back to sleep, Tommy. I'll put him down." I nodded.
"Thanks, sweetheart." Tom yawned, making me smile as I leant down and gently pecked his lips before standing back up. Tom turned over on the sofa and closed his eyes again as I walked out of the room with Oscar. I looked down at my baby against my shoulder.
"What did you do to your daddy and uncles, huh?" I chuckled, making him quietly gurgle against my skin as I carried him into his nursery to put him to bed properly.
